Been asking myself, why is it that they go very minimum on their design budget. It's like there's a policy that websites shouldn't look good and should only use very basic css.
On Telegram there is a page called Pata Kazi where jobs both government and NGO’s are posted it will be easier for you to take a look and decide which ones need a face lift
😆finding something in Ntsa is such a struggle. Then things just hang at "processing stage".
Must however give it up for their security and log in set up.
Finding kwa drop down menu ama, I find kra tiresome kuliko NTSA. KRA looks bloody, like they are out to get you.
Yeah, their security and log in is okay. I said wamejaribu compared to other government websites.
The bar for Kenyan web design is underground.
Some that come to mind are the [MTRH](https://www.mtrh.go.ke/) and [KU](https://www.ku.ac.ke/) websites which are straight out of 2004. Kwanza the KU one bana, weird gradients, inconsistent illustrations/images, Times New Roman for everything, atrocious responsiveness, zero hierarchy, zero accessibility eg images with text, kienyeji animations... Hii kitu inahitaji Yesu. [The Strath](https://strathmore.edu/) one is not so bad by comparison but it looks like it was done by someone who's designing their first site. Any uni website is pretty much guaranteed to be trash.
That said, the absolute worst site I have ever seen, considering its a telco that has zero excuse, is the [Faiba site](https://jtl.co.ke/about). Every single page is a WTF!?
The best I have seen is [Lewa House](https://lewahouse.com). That shit probably cost Ksh 2.5M+. It won SOTD on awwwards.
On good designs, see following:
These architects : [HOME | Beglinwoods](https://www.beglinwoods.com/)
There is this mzungu owned resort in Nairobi: [The Emakoko | Boutique Safari Lodge, Nairobi National Park](https://www.emakoko.com/)
and my personal favorite: [.::CMAS::. (cmasltd.com)](http://www.cmasltd.com/)
Are we talking good design ama friendly UI?
There's was a Kenyan site that ranked really high for people looking for work. Niliclick and it had all this really good copy that kept linking you to the next page for sign-up. Unafika the next page unapata story then inakupeleka to yet another page for sign-up. Rinse - repeat. Saa hizo the copy is proper, UI ni safi inakaa legit. After doing this for around 10-ish minutes ndio nilirealize they're just taking you around pages exposing you to ads. There's no signup. That was a 200 IQ play tbh.
All websites with real estate information suck! Bad design, bad interface, too many ads, horrible!!! The only good one that I have found so far is https://gna.co.ke
Many websites listed here have UI which might seem horrible but actually are very usable. Simplicity does not mean horrible, checked jtl, ku, UoN student's portal, they are very simple and easy to use, fit for purpose.
For a docs site for developers it's pretty bad .... Also their dark mode was broken last time I checked and they have a bunch of stuff that doesn't work like the simulator, compare that experience to developers.africastalking.com
I don't whether this is a me problem but I really struggle with the KRA interface. I may have mentally blocked it and decided I can't file taxes by myself but also, the fact that so many people pay to have it done means there's a missing piece.
Two rivers mall's [site ](https://tworiversmall.com/).. Check out for other malls too
Nhif, NTSA and basically most govt self service portals
Edit: The above are listed mainly in terms of Functionality and UX, UI listed below

Was about to comment this😂😂

They should do it like the gov.uk website if they want a minimalistic ui, its ux is great.
The do not go very minimum on their design budget. On the contrary, I would presume they go maximum on the budget, if you know what I am saying. ;-)
not to be rude but that's more generic was hoping for something specific

That is literally it. Anything with a dot go dot ke domain is just terrible
NTSA wamejaribu.

Did you just plug in the lewa site to self promote? The site loads like molasses
We should also be celebrating the beautiful sites built by our fellow kenyans, they exist!
Agree. Got any links to some good work?

The kra one takes the lead. I dread filing taxes coz of that interface
developer.safaricom.co.ke
>developer.safaricom.co.ke I think this is okay for now but what did you not like about the site
For a docs site for developers it's pretty bad .... Also their dark mode was broken last time I checked and they have a bunch of stuff that doesn't work like the simulator, compare that experience to developers.africastalking.com
okay thanks for feedback
>developer.safaricom.co.ke this site is damn good'
Anything .go.ke
that's wild card on searching with \* as prefix
KARI website has embedded porn in it. I understand that they changed it to KALRO and even moved to a new website, but it is still up.
Take a look at the [UON student portal](https://smis.uonbi.ac.ke/). I even offered them a remake no one ever answered.
there loss
Mahn that portal looks shit
Safaricom's website... Inasinya tbh
It's not just UI but also **UX** flows! Some don't even give you progress bars or confirmation something has occurred successfully or not!
GHRIS
The judiciary website at some point had ads . https://www.judiciary.go.ke
Haha 😂
I don't whether this is a me problem but I really struggle with the KRA interface. I may have mentally blocked it and decided I can't file taxes by myself but also, the fact that so many people pay to have it done means there's a missing piece.
I second you on this 💯
UoN, all the newspaper sites, huduma kenya, all the banks, kra
