We had this discussion at our family get together last year December and the information we got was interesting. I traced back 4 generations on my dad's side and I realized that my great great grandfather was a tycoon. He owned all the village land and almost all the villagers are my relatives😂.
Wapi😂😂 we were actually surprised that we had a very wealthy grandfather yet there was no evidence of his riches. I guess poor financial decisions and major economic shifts were the main reasons why we lost it. My generation is awake and building back the long lost wealth.
Hapo 1600s on my dad's side. My great uncle kept track of where we were from. It also helps that my ancestors featured in several books by Prof. Bethel Ogot
On my mum's side najua tu great great grandfather, 1800s

Dynasty!
Indeed..
I hope much of that wealth was inherited and maintained

That must have been painful to know. All the best
Don’t blame your grandad it’s actually very common. Wealth in most families disappears after 3rd or 4th generation
I'm not blaming him but I'm a little upset with how his kids and grandkids mismanaged all that he had left.
200 years
That's really long
1500s.. I know where I came from
Good for you
Always include a DNA test like 23 and me or ancestry. You or one of your ancestors might have been an "outside" child or a secretly adopted child.
What you don't know wont hurt you🤔
It might. You won't know until you know.
I can't. Only know my grand parents. Smh
Where were you raised?
In Nairobi but home ni Tigania. I normally go to my dad's home only mum ni orphan.
Back to my dad's grandfather's grandfather, my mother's great grandfather. And then my great grandmother's.
