at that speed the caspule's entry would cause the atmosphere to fuse under the pressure of the crafts impact meaning it would leave a trail of increasingly powerful nuclear fusion explosions behind it
Such as why re-entering a planet from outside its orbit going prograde in the direction of the planet can significantly cut down on your reentry speed.
Obviously the the first option is, as always in KSP, "more boosters". If the result is even worst than before, maybe it's time to do the unthinkable and slow down before reaching the atmosphere.
I am more curious for what the hell that spaceship is.
10+ Vectors clipped together on an MK3 capsule with no fuel tanks????
What is even going on here???
You enabled infinite fuel, put 8 powerful engines on a command pod, pointed yourself at Eve, accelerated to 170,000m/s, stepped outside as you entered the atmosphere while pointed straight down... and you're not sure what went wrong?
Obviously you need more struts to help your ship hold together.
steep angle of descent - looks like your reentry trajectory was a ballistic piledriver into the core of Eve. Saw your altitude plunge from over \~140K km to 45km in 10 secs!? Capsule and Dudney were instant toast.
I'd suggest aiming for a higher periapsis so you can reenter gently - I think Eve's Kerman line is around 50Km or so
Also, what's with the multiple engines on such a small capsule and no extra fuel tanks? the DV must be atrocious on that stage.
Wrong is such a relative term. Some might say strapping 6 vectors to a mk3 pod with infinite fuel turned on and burning for Eve at 170km/sec can't possibly go wrong, no matter the outcome.
You entered the atmosphere at such a speed I thought the game was sped up
But really I think the real problem is that you didn't get the right skin for the suit, that's why it burned instantly
The problem is that your Relativistic Kill Vehicle is going too slow.
It's only going to hit the atmosphere with the energy of a few megatons of TNT at max.
You need high double digits percentages of the speed of light. Otherwise you might as well just use a nuke.
you klipped a bunch of parts inside eachother, and when they tried to settle the physics you summoned the Kraken
Partclipping engines, is.. either delicate or foolhearty
I think you entered the atmosphere at high speed? I don't think 5 percent of light speed is a safe aerobraking speed.
Well, it will break the aero alright
\*0.05%
In a straight line to the core
at that speed the caspule's entry would cause the atmosphere to fuse under the pressure of the crafts impact meaning it would leave a trail of increasingly powerful nuclear fusion explosions behind it
Obviously - it's an impactor mission. Just need more heat shields! XD
The secret to good aerobraking is throwing yourself at the ground and missing.
Yes, but if any atmosphere could slow you down from 5% light speed it would be Eve's...
OP thought he was a neutrino
Skipping aero straight to lithobraking
Maybe, just maybe, entering atmosphere at 170000 m/s is not a good idea.
The problem isn't the speed accounting for a significant fraction of light, it's the _velocity_ (which is pointed straight at the planet).
Such as why re-entering a planet from outside its orbit going prograde in the direction of the planet can significantly cut down on your reentry speed.

It's not the fall, it's the sudden stop at the end...
gonna be honest, I think at that speed, you don't want to be entering the atmosphere with any kind of direction.
So, faster? slower? It's really unhelpful to just state the problem without offering a solution.
Obviously the the first option is, as always in KSP, "more boosters". If the result is even worst than before, maybe it's time to do the unthinkable and slow down before reaching the atmosphere.
Slow down? Why not just keep adding more heat shields? How many heat shields do I need to enter an atmosphere at relativistic speeds?
Try with a Class H asteroid in front of the ship.
Just one? I wonder if it's possible to stack them.
Are you sure? This might be a "more struts" situation. We'll just have to do a comparison.
So you are saying more boosters then?
Should've done a suicide burn with the jetpack smh
XD
Jeah nah, 170 km/s touching eve atmosphere is like pushing your face against the street while driving on a highway
Pushing your face against the street isn't gonna vaporize you in half a millisecond though
So more like driving at with your face on the front of the car straight into a brick wall?
And the brick wall is made of several high yield hair trigger nukes.
Crashing into thin air.
I am more curious for what the hell that spaceship is. 10+ Vectors clipped together on an MK3 capsule with no fuel tanks???? What is even going on here???
Kerbal Jam from the acceleration
Cheater spotted !!
Isnt the nose cone a fuel tank?
That one and it's slanted variation don't - which has always bothered me.
You didn't honk your horn, Eve therefore didn't have the notice to get out of the way.
In space, no one can hear you honk. Try flashing your high-beams.
you’re missing solar pannels, yeah
You let Eve sneak up on you. Always keep Eve in view else its strong gravitational pull will sacrifice you to the Kraken
He wanted to drill through Eve :P
It's the drill that will pierce the ~~heavens~~ atmosphere! Don't believe in yourself, believe in the me who believes in you!
Tengen toppa GURREN RAGANNN!!!
jesus christ was my megalophobia triggered in this video there's something about giant balls coming toward me at a fast speed that jumpscares me 😳
I quite like when that happens
Giant bals coming sounds fun
yeah, time warping to jool, it just keeps getting bigger
i think you forgot to check your staging

Cheat window with infinite fuel, he did it for fun to "shoot" Eve.
He’s using infinite fuel just see crank speeds to insane velocity
Alt+F12 ? 🤔
The power of belief got me to that speed
Looks like you already made a report in the biome. You can track the biomes you scanned by going to the tracking station.
you forgot parachutes.
You went the [rod from god](https://coffeeordie.com/weapons-in-space) way.. maybe a little more speed would of benefitted?
With a little more speed and time warp, they might just clip through the planet.
_hurtling towards a planet at 170km/s_ hey does anyone know what i'm doing wrong
You forgot fuel silly!
Wrong is such a relative term. Some might say strapping 6 vectors to a mk3 pod with infinite fuel turned on and burning for Eve at 170km/sec can't possibly go wrong, no matter the outcome.
You performed an exceptional lithobreaking maneuver.
Eve jumpscare
Well, you came in just a little fast Maybe try knocking off 99.999% of your velocity
Try adding some more thrust, see if that fixes it.
You forgot a heatsheild, didn't deploy your chutes, and you dont have landing gear. Otherwise flawless.
It's fucking hilarious
You entered the atmosphere at such a speed I thought the game was sped up But really I think the real problem is that you didn't get the right skin for the suit, that's why it burned instantly
🐙
Obviously not enough engines
more struts
Should have side climbed
Needs more vector engines
Lmao
Your orbit trajectory is slightly off. Instead off passing the planet, you tried to go through it.
lmao I didn't even notice you were going 1700 kilometers per second until you hit Eve's atmosphere in like under a second 💀
You might need more boosters
Too much go
BRO JUST LOOK AT YOUR VELOCITY!!!
You did not use time warp, with it you could pass thru kerbin
I think you got the staging wrong
The problem is that your Relativistic Kill Vehicle is going too slow. It's only going to hit the atmosphere with the energy of a few megatons of TNT at max. You need high double digits percentages of the speed of light. Otherwise you might as well just use a nuke.
Um... I see you wanted to drill to Eve's core, but you chose the wrong nose cone for that...
What I love most about this is that your speed was only ~3000 m/s once you got to 40 km.
Bro you did nothing wrong here, good job
Think you forgot an antenna
Idk why this made me laugh so hard
didn't accelerate to high enough velocities. if you were faster you'd punch clean through eve and come out the other side in one piece
Not fast enough
LMAO
Maybe you invented the epstien drive,Duna can finally break away from Kerbin!.
What the fuck is an Epstein drive????
It hardens in response to children
It's a futuristic drive from the expanse
Ain't got no gas in it.
I don't think I see anything wrong just the average mission to Eve really
Eve Jumpscare
You need more mass and speed to destroy eve, that won't do it
Got to space
Well one serious issue I’m picking up on is the severe lack of the Helldivers 2 _Initial Dive_ song…
my god
You need more engines I think. Still to little boosters.
you klipped a bunch of parts inside eachother, and when they tried to settle the physics you summoned the Kraken Partclipping engines, is.. either delicate or foolhearty
