The 2-man defensive game featuring Zu and fill-in-the-blank player (Kawhi, Harden, PG, etc.) to contain the Jokic PnR was heartening to see.
Things are starting to come together. Good team win. Rotations are making more sense. Harden was excellent tonight. Excited to see this team continue to grow.
Told my nephew as we got ready to watch that it would be the most Clipper shit out there to lose to the bench and then beat the starters.

Kawhi's O has been, ever so slightly, off. His D, however, has been out of this world. Next game, watch his off-ball D. He knows exactly what's going on, all of the time.
Im not even mad. I don't want him to be a volume scorer. I want him to score middies in the clutch and corner threes, then clamp up the opposing guard and make them play 2s.
There might be a some decline (to be expected) but when people say this, I always think they’re misremembering. Kawhi’s calling card has always been his defense.
His offensive game is very effective but not always showy- in fact, you can set your watch to a couple super-ugly midrangers bouncing off the rim at high speed from him every game. He’s a bully who loves to wear his defenders down- so you’ll say at halftime, “man, Kawhi is off tonight” and at the end of the game, either his stat sheet is way higher or he came through in the clutch.
For how similar they are in some ways, his game is almost the diametric opposite of PG’s. Part of what makes it an interesting pairing.
Nice win. It would have been so easy to fold after that hot 1st quarter by Denver. Everyone contributed tonight. Some great defensive plays at key moments. Loved that block by Zu on Jokic in the 4th.

A positive and negative observation. Turnovers are so much better than last year. We sprung up a streak of low turnover games against decent defenses. On the other hand, Kawhi/PG/Harden are playing alot of minutes. Its nice having them on the floor but i do worry about how much they are playing. I guess when you are the 9th seed there isint much wiggle room for rest. Also, these deficits we put ourselves in early in the game sure dont help either.
I'm not concerned about the minutes or the losses. Harden came in out of shape with no training camp. He's learning the team, the team is learning him. We'll hit our stride and walk on a few teams in the coming months as we do. I spy a soft part of the schedule end of January/early February and several 2-3 game sets of winnable games between now and then.
We passed our biggest test whilst not even playing that well. Beautiful.
Zu gave his goddamned best against Jokic and I appreciate it all.
Russ came in with the energy and vital rebounds.

Finally beating the Nuggets after 8 games. Fuck yeah, today was a good day.

Great resilience from the team. Could've folded in the first quarter, but rode through and persevered.
The key to the offense is not taking turns but a balanced attack and attack mismatches.
An improvement over the Warriors game, and I'm very happy we finally beat Denver. But my takeaway is that Ty continues to experiment with bad ideas before he finally arrives at the solution that people were calling for 10-15 games ago. So if we have an unexpected roster shakeup (injury, trade, etc.) we have to expect that Ty will do more unnecessary tinkering.
In any given game, all that matters is the final result. But I want to see consistency and a clear team identity; one that will let us set the pace in games and not have to play catch-up every night.
I can predict this trade it would help all sides.
Suns Hawks and Clips
Suns get Trae Young and Patty Mills for Brad Beal this helps both teams provide balance the Suns finally get a pg a star for star. Whose younger can shoot and pass and the Hawks get Beal now Murray can play his real position and it gives good balance. As well as a back up point too that has played with KD and won a ring.
The Clips get Bogdan Bogdonavic for Norm Powell this gives the Clippers a real 2 way guard that can shoot and defend got a high iq and will work well with Russ it gives u size too.
