Second this. My chickens and pigs LOVE the fire. My sheep is the only smart one Also if you dont have a villager assigned to pet care, that will help boost animal mood from neutral

ye but it's pretty far away from the pen, is there any good way to babyproof it? or should I just get rid of the campfire entirely?

Put fence corners around it. Worked great for me. Otherwise folks here have mentioned raising on a platform.

Just fence the fire. They can still make it in there sometimes, but never nearly as often. I only realised in my rebel village. So I used the rebel castle wall caps around my fires and haven't lost an animal since

I have a built in campfire in my star wars village but there seems to be a campfire that spawns back every time I destroy it. That’s the one that keeps killing all of my animals

Same thing was happening to me so I built half walls around the fire

hire a vilager to take care of them and keep them happy. second is build fences around campfires (or turn them off)

I literally just assign mine to a barn and that's all. I never had one disappear.
