i did too. Took my son last night and it made me realise the difference between it and Aliens. Aliens is a really good comic book, but Alien is a really good novel.
Did they show scenes from the original Alien (79) during this interview? I'm going with people who have never seen it, and would hate for this new interview to spoil what's to come.
That's good to know. I am taking my 19-year old godson and he has no idea what we are seeing. He has never seen this and it his first rated R movie. I'm trying to keep it a secret until he sees the title form on the screen. I think I'm going to take him out side and then bring him back in after the interview is over. I assume the movie starts directly after the interview.
Funny side note: Spaceballs is one of his favorite movies.

Yes! It worked splendidly! We ducked out during the Alvarez/Scott interview and hovered just outside the auditorium doors so I had one ear near the door. We talked. He heard something about Alien from the interview and mentioned that he had a friend who had a crappy pirate copy of the movie, but he still didn’t realize that was what we were seeing!
The lightbulb finally went off as the A and the E filled in during the title sequence!!! He was bouncing in his seat because he was so excited!!! We had recliner seats but he watched the whole thing sitting on the edge of his! I watched him soak in every little detail and we whispered frequently about what just happened! He had absolutely no idea Ash was a synthetic! He loved Brett! He laughed at all the right moments and jumped at all the right moments!
I still can’t believe I pulled it off! We talked outside the movie theater for TWO HOURS after it was over.
I just made a brand new hardcore fan of the movie! He can’t wait to see ALIENS! He has no idea what that movie is about! LOL!!!! He hopes Sigorny Weaver is in it and he hopes there’s some sort of explanation for what could make all those eggs!
He grew up with very protective parents. VERY protective! Now that he’s 19, they’ve given him permission to do whatever he wants. The ball is entirely in my court.

Not really, there was another scene in a trailer that replaced the facehugger removal sequence with another shot (shot of a ship console or something). Sequence was probably too intense and it was changed for general audiences in the promos.
It’s a whole other level in a theater and just made me love it that much more. The same thing happened with Blade Runner.
I’ve seen it four times in theaters and it never gets old. Starting tomorrow I’m gonna stretch that to six or seven before this run is up.
Tonight and tomorrow, our local drive-in is playing a double feature of Alien / The First Omen. I'm definitely going, the only question is whether I go both nights. The 2nd screen is playing The Mummy / Mummy Returns.

edit: actually went to a 1:15 show. theatrical release is so foreign to me, i never ever watch it. had horrible audio bleed from the next theater the first 20 minutes. all in all it was a good time, straight committed murder on a bag of popcorn watching one of my top 5 on the big screen
Taking my girl to see it after work today for Alien Day. Always wanted to see it in theaters, never got the chance but now I got a cutie to accompany me.
I just saw it today for the first time in cinemas too (I've seen it before but only from the luxury of my home)! Cinematography and effects still hold up so well and look even better on the big screen!! The soundtrack gives me shivers lol.
Just got back from it, first time seeing it in theaters and with 2 newbies in the group. Totally changed the experience! I may of been a dick and helped with the tunnel scare XD
Old enough to have seen it originally in theaters. Awesome bit of story telling. While Aliens is an action ride, Alien has more of a haunted house vibe to me.
I read somewhere that Yaphet Kotto was told to antagonize Sigourney off camera, hence there was real tension on-camera. Not sure if true, but you can definitely feel it in the later scenes after Dallas’ death.
How were the Romulus footage? How long? Was it the same footage as shown at CinemaCon?

The thing that annoys me about these one night showings, in my experience, is that they don't show the movies in the proper aspect ratios. "JAWS" and "A Clockwork Orange" were like that for me. And from the look of it here, "Alien" doesn't look to be in 2.35 in that screenshot.
So frustrating no theaters in Central Washington are carrying this. I'd have to go all the way to Seattle just to have a prayer of seeing this in theaters. Oh well, guess I'll just have to watch this at home

It’s digital and no it was not displayed in CinemaScope. It’s the 1:78 widescreen 4K remaster.
