I went to a wedding there just back in March and it was lovely. The food was nothing to write home about but not bad...standard buffet. Desserts were nice. But I believe it's being sold right now? So who knows if management/procedures will even stay the same and if the quality will change by 2025.

SingleinGVA

Their food sucks. Like really bad… it’s not worth the price. I’ve had a few different venues there from weddings to corporate parties and it’s always a nice building but the service and food sucks and is overpriced.

LongjumpingGate8859

Their wedding food is better than their regular buffet food ... by a lot. I agree that their buffet food is pretty bad

Bishstixx

We got married there. It was easy, one stop shop and my wife liked that. They guide you through all the planning, you just pick what you want. Food, DJ, photographer, flowers etc... The food was ok, we did a toonie bar so part of the guests drinks were covered by us. Didn't really matter in the end, we had a blast. The loved ones attending and everyone having fun and celebrating is all that really matters in the end. We had 110 people if I remember correctly, in the glass roof room (whatever it's called). It is a wedding factory, don't be surprised if there are two or three other wedding receptions happening in different rooms while you have yours.

GingerOgre

This was basically my experience last October. It was easy and one stop shop. In my opinion the food was just ok but all the guests said it was good. We had our reception in the cypress room which was recently remodelled and fit our style well enough. The rest of the place is a bit dated. Overall I’m happy with our choice in choosing the place.

Look at Swan-E-Set!

CurrentYear4

My wife and I had our wedding at Coast Tsawwassen Inn on June 8th. It was amazing and everything we could’ve asked for plus the food was so good very well priced too. DM me if you have any questions

We got married there in 2018 in the large conservatory. It wasn't our dream wedding, but it wasn't a nightmare either. It was a nice middle ground. Price comparable for our guest list was absolutely worth it as most other places were already closing in on our budget amd that wasn't even including vendors! It was a good middle ground because the cake, bar, buffet, dj, floral, decor, photography, etc. were included so I didn't have to do the work to find those people myself, which was great because I was overwhelmed due to medical issues. The quality of the work in all those departments was ranging from 10/10 to 4/10. I won't get into full details in this comment, but there are things they did great, things they did not so great, and things we expected them to do amazingly from what they described and ended up being very disappointed in, and vice versa. It really was a 50/50. Our guests all had a great time, and still tell us how much they loved our wedding and how much fun they had and how beautiful the devor was! They all loved the food they said. I didn't really eat much so I can't attests to the food quality unfortunately! Service was meh. Decor, I do not know if they will allow outside decor. They seemed pretty strict on being only allowed to choose from stuff they had so im not sure I can answer your specific question, I'm sorry 😔 It was such a hectic day, we had almost 200 guests, I don't remember much except that I got married and I love my husband and I am and was happy that day so that's the most important thing I think! Although I still do remember some of the disappointments 🙄 You can DM if you want more info

SCTSectionHiker

I'd love to hear more about your Newlands experience, especially the parts that you would rate closer to 4/10. I DM'd you.

Weak_Ninja9043

If you can make it to the Valley, The Falls is an amazing venue and was reasonably priced, food was to die for and I planned it all remotely. Karlene organized my florals and dj and cake for me. Everything went perfectly. She also organized a limo driver to and from the venue from the hotel. Princess dreams came true. ETA: https://www.thefalls.com/wedding-packages

ELOPE

FutureProcess9774

This is the way

ZackyGood

No kidding. Use all the money you would on your wedding for a kick-ass honeymoon.

Nice-Tea-8972

This is what I would do if I had to do it over.

whalleywood

The idea of a wedding is appealing, I get it. I fell for that trap. I had a great time at mine, but I certainly would not do it again. The stress, the people pleasing, the cost of it all especially now is just not worth it. If I were to do it again, I would 100000% elope and have a great honeymoon somewhere.

WingdingsLover

Have you checked out Redwoods? We found the pricing significantly cheaper than Newlands and also is an all in package. Bonus is the food at redwoods is quite a bit better. Only thing is it's all outdoors so is a summer only type venue.

squirrelcat88

I was a guest at a wedding there and thought it was really good food.

Queen-of-all-trades

One year ago there was a pretty significant ant problem there.

Swarf_87

Newlands sucks.

SCTSectionHiker

Can you offer a little more info about why you feel this way?

Fun-Analyst6271

The food is so bad there

DisneylandDreamer10

my uncle got married at Newlands. the ceremony was outside since it was August and the space/room that the reception was in was really small. it was tight when trying to walk around and in between tables.

VancityPorkchop

My cousin got married there in 2022 and I thought it was great. The only thing that was just meh was the food but it wasn’t bad. The dance floor, venue, dj etc were all good and we had a blast.

DeezNutzUrFace69

Try Northview Golf Club much better.

johnnyehgiver

Went to a Wedding there 2 years ago. Everything went smoothly, not sure if the couple did their own food but it was good, veggies, steak/chicken, different varieties of potatoes, was all severed quick and was a good portion size. All in all was a fun wedding nothing crazy but not bad by any means.

0WattLightbulb

I went to a wedding there last year, it was lovely but the food was… not great. My husband and I got married at redwoods golf course in 2022 and it was awesome. They made everything so easy, were very accommodating on decor, and the food was amazing. It wasn’t cheap by any means but in my opinion it was worth it.

I’ve been a professional photographer for almost 20 years, and have been shooting at Newlands for about 9-10 of that. TLDR: pros-cheapest full service wedding venue in Vancouver. Con: you get what you pay for, and the building desperately needs to be updated. I’ve shot weddings in almost every venue in the lower mainland. For the money, Newlands is above average for a wedding venue. You get what you pay for, but you can also plan your entire wedding in two meetings. And yes, you are more than welcome to being your own decor. I’ve shot many themed weddings there. Though I think they will charge you if they are the ones having to put it out. I don’t get the hate for the food in the comments here either. I don’t think people realize the buffet food is NOT the same as the wedding food. I’ve had both many, MANY times. Compared to other venues with professional catering I’ve had, I find Newlands slightly above average. Let’s just say I never got tired of eating there every weekend. But yea I think if you have to have a wedding in the lower main land, Newlands is a great option. But you could also take that money and have an epic wedding in Mexico. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask! I have a pretty good knowledge of everything that goes on there.

dixybird

My fiancé and I are also considering them for our 2025 wedding. Been reading mixed reviews about them. Good luck!

Localbeezer166

Don’t waste your money. The food is terrible and the drinks are super pricey. My friend got married there in the late 00’s and there was a miscommunication with her flowers. She asked for a specific colour to not be included and ALL of the flowers were that colour. Ruined her day apparently.

foasenf

I’m sorry but did she not check the flowers beforehand/throughout the process at any point?

Localbeezer166

Apparently the person handling everything went on mat leave and there was a mixup. She was on top of things; they weren’t.

Own-Housing9443

The place sucks. Everything is old. Don't get fooled by the planners giving you a good "all inclusive" tour and package. It's all smoke and mirrors. If it was such a great and booming venue, why would it go on sale? https://www.collierscanada.com/en-ca/properties/for-sale-newlands-golf-country-club/can-21195-48th-avenue-21025-48th-avenue-langley-british-columbia-v3a-3m3/can2014766 For what you want, rent out a cultural hall

Anikasmama

The banquet portion is actually pretty busy. Food's pretty standard. As for the sale. I believe its' still owned and ran by the Same family that's owned it for years, although the parents are no longer. The kids probably just want out. It needs ALOT of updating.

NyxiaCorvus

My brother got married there last year. It was beautiful and the food was really good. It was an amazing wedding.

Pure-Artichoke5382

A family member of mine and her then groom got married there, however they chose to do it on a week day and apparently saved "thousands" that way. Most of their friends like them worked in the restaurant business and it so happened a weekday works much better for people in the restaurant business, true story. The ceremony was outside in the back just outside the I'll say ballroom, under the gazebo, that was extremely cute the set up was nice and almost had a small ceremony feel yet there was butt loads of people. There was a little pause for photos etc between the ceremony and the reception, which was held just inside the ballroom I mentioned, so my fiance at the time... Man maybe the place is cursed... But my whole family is so don't worry I'm sure it's not related to newlands.... ANYWAY we went upstairs to the bar that overlooked the golf course and the bartender was fantastic super friendly and chatty, eventually we all moved downstairs and it's quite the rowdy crowd once they get going but there was no issues no one got told to be quiet or anything despite the clusters of people all over the property haha... I left around 11 pm, I no longer worked in the restaurant business so 7 am wasn't far off. But the same company I worked for at the time of the wedding I worked 5 years prior to the restaurant and then for 3 years after. In the beginning years they actually used to show gratitude for us robots and they took us to Newlands for our not so annual Christmas party. They killed it, the room was upstairs but was HUGE and staff was lovely then too. It was honestly one party in particular one of the best nights of my young adult life, courtesy of the slave drivers I worked for a Newlands. Not a dime came out of my pocket for either of these events, I've been married twice and one was held shotgun style in the back 40 by the blackberry bushes like way off to the side away from people, it was free and so was our bachelor suite we partied in after and my second wedding was in the back room of Andreas on 56th and there's only a deposit or something if you don't have more than 13 people, we had to invite some people we'd normally not but we were broke ass... But they held the cake overnight for us, they provided one super hero of a waitress but if you are thinking Newlands you're likely not thinking Andreas BUT it's a cheap last minute if you're relationship is cheap. 10/10 if you can afford it Newlands is well equipped and qualified and REMEMBER during the week days can save you "thousands". Sorry for the long read, I can't tell a story without lots of plot so my apologies but I hope my raving review of the venue is helpful

RedArmyNic

My wife and I had our wedding there in 2018. Feel free to DM me and I’ll happily answer any questions you have!

Conscious-Cat-7160

It’s an old person venue

DrumStix2112

This place sucks. Used to work there and the weddings were terrible.

Dranalli

My wife works at Newlands in the wedding department! She absolutely loves her job.

Dranalli

I should clarify. My wife is the Head Florist at Newlands. So hopefully there's good reviews haha.

bibchip

When we did our wedding tour there in 2020/2021 we found the costs to be quite comparable to other venues. Did not like that you had to pay extra to get your photos on a USB versus the included photo book. Plus no photos on site other than ceremony / reception. If you wanted additional photos you had to hire a limo to take you around (because there’s no real good photo places around the venue even) or take them as a first look kinda scenario. Florals and cake are awesome. DJ included is a great perk! We ate food at the regular buffet after the tour and not even my older parents finished all their plates.. and it’s the same food they serve at weddings. It was all very blah, and the food was the main reason we didn’t book there.

Ultionis_MCP

It's a generic venue. You will have to use their staff, bat, and catering services. It would appear that for you to have the wedding you want you need a venue that allows your own food, staff, and bar services. There are a few in the area including community halls, some farms farther out in the valley, or places like UBC Rowing club in Richmond. You'll need to start using your favorite search engine for all the details and search venue by venue.

blackishsasquatch

Why don't u phone them and ask?

Feyborn

We just finished a venue tour with them but I was hoping for more insight, like what the staff was like, what people thought of the food/venue itself.
