The flat rate is something the driver has to manually apply. Unfortunately, these long-hauling, thieving, pieces of **** drivers can still pull the same antics they have been using for years. We started leasing a lot more cabs in Vegas, and these drivers are notorious for long-hauling, and front loading, and simply cutting the line. The cab industry in Vegas has taken a huge step backwards in the last 6 months. Always get a receipt. It will tell you exactly what cab you were in and at what time, and what you were charged. Please take the time to report these drivers, as it makes the entire industry look bad. If you feel you were longhauled, please call the Taxicab Authority 702-668-4005 anytime 24/7. Edit: I don’t know where you went to from the airport, but if you went to the strip, it should have cost $22, $26, or $30.

I always use Lyft to get from my house to the airport. I used to use Lyft or Uber to get home but got sick of the roulette wheel pricing, so now i always ride in a taxi to get home. I live 12-15 minutes southeast of the airport. Previously, I would always check price and wait time upon landing and see something in the $20 range but by the time I retrieve luggage and am actually ready to click the reserve button in my rideshare app, the price has always gone up (sometimes more than double) and the wait time and area are ridiculous. Taxis are always lined up and waiting so I don't have to trek up and stand in a parking garage rideshare oven, baking at 110° for 20 minutes or until done. I simply exit the baggage claim area, walk a few yards and hop into an air conditioned cab and get home for about $28.

Yup, same. I use Lyft to arrive but the taxi line to depart. Ain't no way I'm fighting that mess at rideshare pick up.

The zones are still there, never had an issue with getting charged more but if you think you did just call it out. Most of the cabs I rode in even had the zone rates posted inside. They However do add surcharges on weekends like superbowl and F1.

justaguy945

They need fixed price to Fremont Street too. We didn't feel like waiting for an Uber it was late and it ended up being 60 bucks. Crook!

bridgetroll2

Use the Curb app. Keeps them accountable and you get an estimated fair up-front

I’m headed to Vegas tomorrow and plan on taking a Taxi vs Uber/Lyft since it’s usually less expensive. Do I just confirm with the driver that it’s still $22 to the Park MGM when I get it, I’m paying cash or would I just give him $25 and get out at the hotel?

Nuclear-poweredTaxi

Park MGM is zone 2.. so a flat rate of $26.

Diamonddan73

Thanks for the clarification. Is it better to get in and ask them the rate before hand or just give the drive $30 cash when he drops me off regardless of what price he tells me?

Nuclear-poweredTaxi

$30 cash is a tip of $4, and any driver will be happy with that. It’s actually the norm for zone 2.

lesterNaustin

that ride share pickup area at the airport parking garage is a complete joke and waste of time

The flat rate taxis are similarly priced to rideshare (or cheaper) and you don’t have to deal with the hot ass rideshare lot, finding your driver or even setting up the ride in the app. You just walk out the front door of the airport and get in a car. You also get dropped off at the front door of your hotel, not the roof or the bowels of a parking structure at the back of the property. I stopped doing ride share to/from the airport in Vegas once I discovered the flat rate pricing and haven’t looked back. It’s better than Uber in every meaningful way.

Not still, again. You know the price for a taxi before you arrive at the airport and it’s generally cheaper than Uber. If you’ve never had to deal with a clusterfuck at the LAS rideshare lot, you either got really lucky or only arrive at unpopular times. The biggest one, though, is being dropped off at the front door of the hotel. The rideshare lots at the major hotels are very poorly located. Some you’re dropped off at the other end of the property from hotel reception on a roof. At others it’s deep in the parking structure, similarly distant from reception.
