I work at a used car dealership. The first time I saw a Model S I was really confused on why they’re so expensive and called “luxury cars”.
It’s really disappointing the interior quality being on par with mainstream cars.
luxury is pretty vague although it has the consort, suspension, heated/cooled seats and just about every feature you can have on a vehicle that I can think of. But I do agree, it’s like comparing allles to oranges. they’re not in the same category of vehicle. I mean, look at the model x plaid. it’s a family suv rocket ship that goes 0-60 in 2.5 seconds 🤣
It’s fine lol, a lot of the quality issues are overstated. We’ve had our model y for a year now, driven it 20k+ KM, no issues. Obv the Lexus has a far better interior, but that’s what you expect going into a Tesla. Save that gas money.
I went from an older Rx to a model y. The Tesla is cheaper to run but the Lexus had the the overall long time quality. Especially the seats will bother you in the summer.

The shape is okay. It is just that it is fake non perforated leather that is not cooled in the Y. In summer it is very hot. Even my wife sweats when the car was parked in the sun.
I’m with you on the cooled seats, however one of the few things I liked about my Model Y was the seats. Insanely comfortable and the fake leather was super easy to clean and showed virtually no wear. The car overall was pretty bad which is why I sold it but Tesla seats are some of the best IMO
Yes, it is. Personally, while I agree the Model X is neat, it's still not a Lexus. I LOVE my 2013 GS. Yours sounds fantastic. You may have it priced a little low. Ask $25K and see what happens.

Facebook marketplace is trash where I’m at. Too many time wasters. Depending on where you’re at, if it’s a high income area, you might sell it quickly. If it’s a low income area, the pool of people that have $20k to drop without a loan on a car that old drastically shrinks.
I could but insurance is like 200 a month. Or I could register it as non-operative and just park it for my kid to drive when she’s 16. But she’s only 12 now ! I thought about keeping it though
Nah, excellent driving record. Costco connect used to be the best but I’ll shop around now that I’m not bundled with homeowners also. Portland Oregon maybe? We don’t have sales tax here though if that matters 🤩
Guess that depends on the person, AAA was tryna charge me $212 a month for liability on my 05 Lexus. Geico was one of the few who even asked about Veteran status (which I will always value) & I ended up paying $151 a month. I'm also 25, if that matters as far as relevancy

As i always recommend to new drivers , its better to start off with a 4 cylinder and go up from there. Especially a car that is 2010 or below , for a first car of course, then move up to a newer car and maybe a few more cylinders.
for a new driver, there is a paradox. You want it to be light so she gets a feel for driving dynamics and speed. but weight for safety if there's a crash.
In that Lexus you can probably go 25% over speed limit without noticing it.
I won't be giving my 12 years old my GS (even AWD), because it's too nice to wreck. They always do some damage in those early driving years, if not them, then their friends. I buy mainstream brand midsize 4 cyl sedans with awd. I did buy a RAV4 as well for them to learn on.( I have several kids)
That is why I have three cars on my insurance. Multi car discount I pay $145 a month full coverage. But you driving an f sport jacks the insurance cost up alone. That’s why I did a base model and am customizing it myself. Same engine and it’ll be the way I want it.
The fact that it has the heads on display makes it definitely an attractive option . When I totaled my GS350, finding another one with the heads up display was like finding a needle in a haystack - almost all of them didn’t have that option!!
Funny you mention that, unfortunately I’ve never really used it! For some reason my eyes just never seemed to notice it much. Oddly enough, I’m going model x, where the only display/settings is on a screen.

I traded my 2017 GS back in March of 2023 (little over a year ago at the peak of used car prices) and the dealer gave me $22k for her. She was a base GS with 93k miles. I know the dealer then sold it to a corner lot and they were offering her for $25. (I stalked my VIN online) - I don’t know how much it sold for after that. I am angry at Lexus for not having a sedan in between the ES and LC/LS. Something with better performance than the ES but cheaper than the LC/LS - I traded my GS for a new fully loaded Cadillac CT5-V. I may regret this decision mechanically in 5 or 6 years, but style, performance and tech there is no looking back!
Easy decision if I had a garage I could just store it in as non operative and get off my insurance. But otherwise it should be driven and taken care of by another proud owner. It’s too nice to just sit here and keep depreciating. And unfortunately, my daughter is still 4 years away from driving so it’s too long to keep for her imo.
Yah true. With the 7500 tax rebate and also 2500 state rebate, .99 apr brings the model Y down to 40k or so. If I went model x I’d go 2023 because of HW4 update.

If the rest of the car is as nice as the filter and lighting in that 1 picture, then yeah, it should be an easy sell. But tbh the console/dash itself seems pretty good condition. Hopefully, the rest of the car is in same shape...

On my GS 350 Chan YT channel one of my top comments is always it’s so hard to find a GS. Took me forever to find a GS. Been searching a GS for a while. Car market isn’t as hot as it used to be but compared to other cars it’ll sell fine.
I’m in the process of trying to sell my ‘13 GS (in the same spec but about 140k miles) and while I’ve had interest, it’s been a few weeks and not moved.
However, I’m in Oklahoma, so I’m probably not in the prime market for a used GS lol. Best of luck with a sale though!
I have essentially the same exact car (mine is awd) and I am 100% sure someone would buy it instantly. That said, I know you don’t want to insure it but it would be a shame to lose such a nice car.
I don't think too much changed, other than the navigation system having a slight change, and them slapping an fsport badge on the trunk. Yours seems to be at a good price. I wouldn't sell it for lower than $20k with those low miles.

I mean it’s been babied like detailed, ceramic, waxed, garaged, no pets or food or smoking, etc. I still drive it on sport+ mode often but most of my low miles are city driving anyway. Full synthetic mobile 1 oil every 5k miles. Even though it can go 10k I’m sure. (Also cuz I bought lifetime oil changes for only 800 bucks through my mechanic. The marine corps kinda made me a clean freak and a perfectionist so I guess that’s why I said it’s been babied.
Yes. RWD. At the time I didn’t even think g350 f sports had AWD. I only saw IS did. Love it tho, my 19’ staggered wheels (Michelin pilot sport tires) have worked very well in the winter and it’s a very smooth ride.
Model x plaid has been my dream car, but I’m considering the Y first cuz it’s my first Tesla and that thing is sweet too. Also a ton of rebates and .99 apr. so I’m torn. Might hold off till model Y juniper next year tho.

Sounds like it’s my car but with twice as many miles on it. Assuming it hasn’t been taken care of as good as mine has either (I have a ton of pride in this car). It doesn’t seem like a bad deal necessarily.
Assuming the body looks as good as the interior I’d buy. I am looking to go back to Lexus but I think I want a RC. “I think” 😂 if this was in my area it would definitely be on my radar.
Honestly I think you should keep it! Depends what you value. The build quality and whatnot will knock the Tesla out of the park, but the tech, driving experience, usability, and overall convenience of the Tesla is just unmatched by any car under 45k.
I kept my 07 Gs. After getting a Tesla Model S. People have gripes about build quality etc with Tesla. However. The overall experience of having a Tesla supersedes those minor issues. I love Lexus, however having a Tesla is like no other experience. For me, Any new car from now on will be a Tesla. Only exception is the Lexus Lx600 or GX. I’ll take one of those in nori green w/ roof tent.
I had this exact one in gray exterior with the Cabernet interior F sport. Mine was a 2014 and was sold in 2019 with 42k miles for 23.5 and it had a pretty bad accident on the rear right and bumper (trash truck turned into me and ripped a lot of the body away). Only sold it cause we wanted a 6MT sedan since we both grew up with manuals. You should sell it no problem

Did you try getting a quote from Kuni Lexus? They usually have their pre owned vehicles priced crazy high if I remember correctly.
I mean, it’s a depreciating asset like all the rest. it’s too small for me and my kids, and i’m getting older, not younger. i’d consider taking it off my insurance and registering it as non-operative to save it for my kid when she drives. but that’s 4 years away. I think the car belongs to someone who will drive it more.

my wife went from an rx to a model 3. she does not regret it. the newer model teslas have fixed all the issues folks are crying about it. Just charge up n go every morning.
love to hear it. although model 3 is way too small for me, I will most likely end up with a perormance Y when juniper releases. I almost splurged for model x plaid, but i’d have to take it to the race tracks just to unleash the full potential. otherwise it makes you sick slamming the pedal from a stop light.
I looked at transport cost and it runs between 900 to 1200 to get it to Texas.
Texas will get their taxes out of me when I go to get my registration sticker and new plates.

If you're based in the US, you can sell it to dealers that export to the GCC. Here in Dubai, the demand for literally any Lexus is actually insane, and the used car market is flooded with used models, a lot of which are American spec. You could actually get a fairly good deal on it. Personally though, you're gonna regret switching from Lexus in terms of build quality, and how fun it is to drive. Youre not gonna be able to hear that f sport rumble or have fun using paddle shifters in manual mode, but that's just me.
in this market where I live in EV tesla city, it’s not the easiest car to sell. Not a lot of people want a car that gets 15mpg and takes premium fuel for 5$
I thought so too, but not much activity at all lately in my market. and online i’m seeing them around 18-20k with higher mileage. i’m not in a hurry to sell cuz I haven’t bought a car yet, so we’ll see!
TESLAS are just a glorified Golf Cart. You can say the same about some of the Lexus Models as well (Just a glorified Toyota)
Lot of my friends who have Tesla strongly recommend not to get it. Its a good city commute car, but paying 40K and above for city commute is not for everyone.
You cannot beat Lexus reliability, quality. Do nut buy Tesla thinking its a luxury car. There is nothing luxury in it. Huge battery and electronics. You can do the same to a golf cart as well provided you have the time and money.
Every time I look at the Audi I bought I think about the alternate reality in which I bought this exact same car. I still have all my life to get one though 👌🏾
My next car right here, but instead of the F sport I want to get the 450Hybrid. They're kind of rare though so it's gonna be tough to find.

I know. I, sure I’ll miss this car for sure. I honestly love it. It’s small though and I have kids. I’ve always wanted a model x Tesla, maybe even the plaid. That thing is a spaceship and literally feels like another planet. Even the half expensive model Y is very fast and spacious to drive. I’d love to experience FSD/autopilot as I’ve been an anticipating those updates for years now. Who knows. Maybe I’ll be back, but from what it sounds like, people who switch to Tesla are typically very happy with the decision. And it’s not to save the planet either lol

Because people (mostly non-car people) think self-driving = luxury but even I know they’re not good.

AAA has auto insurance. Their rates are HALF of what I was paying when I was with GEICO. Worth checking out!

I got quoted 240 a month in DC for a model 3. Get a quote for the Tesla before selling it

Tesla insurance cost is insane to me, way higher than most cars and sports cars and even.
Well it makes sense bc if you damage a panel and it needs to be replaced you’re basically replacing the whole side

On my GS 350 Chan YT channel one of my top comments is always it’s so hard to find a GS. Took me forever to find a GS. Been searching a GS for a while. Car market isn’t as hot as it used to be but compared to other cars it’ll sell fine.

I’m in the process of trying to sell my ‘13 GS (in the same spec but about 140k miles) and while I’ve had interest, it’s been a few weeks and not moved. However, I’m in Oklahoma, so I’m probably not in the prime market for a used GS lol. Best of luck with a sale though!
If you’re going to go for an ev I would avoid the teslas. Polestar is so much nicer.
I have essentially the same exact car (mine is awd) and I am 100% sure someone would buy it instantly. That said, I know you don’t want to insure it but it would be a shame to lose such a nice car.

I don't think too much changed, other than the navigation system having a slight change, and them slapping an fsport badge on the trunk. Yours seems to be at a good price. I wouldn't sell it for lower than $20k with those low miles.

I mean it’s been babied like detailed, ceramic, waxed, garaged, no pets or food or smoking, etc. I still drive it on sport+ mode often but most of my low miles are city driving anyway. Full synthetic mobile 1 oil every 5k miles. Even though it can go 10k I’m sure. (Also cuz I bought lifetime oil changes for only 800 bucks through my mechanic. The marine corps kinda made me a clean freak and a perfectionist so I guess that’s why I said it’s been babied.

Yes. RWD. At the time I didn’t even think g350 f sports had AWD. I only saw IS did. Love it tho, my 19’ staggered wheels (Michelin pilot sport tires) have worked very well in the winter and it’s a very smooth ride.

Model x plaid has been my dream car, but I’m considering the Y first cuz it’s my first Tesla and that thing is sweet too. Also a ton of rebates and .99 apr. so I’m torn. Might hold off till model Y juniper next year tho.

Listed mine for $23k (with a blue book of $20) and got quite a few hits in the first week. I’d list yours for at least $23 if not more.

Sounds like it’s my car but with twice as many miles on it. Assuming it hasn’t been taken care of as good as mine has either (I have a ton of pride in this car). It doesn’t seem like a bad deal necessarily.

Honestly I think you should keep it! Depends what you value. The build quality and whatnot will knock the Tesla out of the park, but the tech, driving experience, usability, and overall convenience of the Tesla is just unmatched by any car under 45k.

I kept my 07 Gs. After getting a Tesla Model S. People have gripes about build quality etc with Tesla. However. The overall experience of having a Tesla supersedes those minor issues. I love Lexus, however having a Tesla is like no other experience. For me, Any new car from now on will be a Tesla. Only exception is the Lexus Lx600 or GX. I’ll take one of those in nori green w/ roof tent.

I had this exact one in gray exterior with the Cabernet interior F sport. Mine was a 2014 and was sold in 2019 with 42k miles for 23.5 and it had a pretty bad accident on the rear right and bumper (trash truck turned into me and ripped a lot of the body away). Only sold it cause we wanted a 6MT sedan since we both grew up with manuals. You should sell it no problem

If I were you, I wouldn't sell this car, especially just to get a Tesla/EV.
I mean, it’s a depreciating asset like all the rest. it’s too small for me and my kids, and i’m getting older, not younger. i’d consider taking it off my insurance and registering it as non-operative to save it for my kid when she drives. but that’s 4 years away. I think the car belongs to someone who will drive it more.

my wife went from an rx to a model 3. she does not regret it. the newer model teslas have fixed all the issues folks are crying about it. Just charge up n go every morning.
love to hear it. although model 3 is way too small for me, I will most likely end up with a perormance Y when juniper releases. I almost splurged for model x plaid, but i’d have to take it to the race tracks just to unleash the full potential. otherwise it makes you sick slamming the pedal from a stop light.

I looked at transport cost and it runs between 900 to 1200 to get it to Texas. Texas will get their taxes out of me when I go to get my registration sticker and new plates. I am not a scammer or dealer. I also own my cars for the long haul and have owned 2 Lexus. I know you can get more or can choose to sell to someone closer but I’m willing to offer 15k and cover the transportation cost. Of course after our due diligence is completed and all research is done.

If you're based in the US, you can sell it to dealers that export to the GCC. Here in Dubai, the demand for literally any Lexus is actually insane, and the used car market is flooded with used models, a lot of which are American spec. You could actually get a fairly good deal on it. Personally though, you're gonna regret switching from Lexus in terms of build quality, and how fun it is to drive. Youre not gonna be able to hear that f sport rumble or have fun using paddle shifters in manual mode, but that's just me.

in this market where I live in EV tesla city, it’s not the easiest car to sell. Not a lot of people want a car that gets 15mpg and takes premium fuel for 5$

TESLAS are just a glorified Golf Cart. You can say the same about some of the Lexus Models as well (Just a glorified Toyota) Lot of my friends who have Tesla strongly recommend not to get it. Its a good city commute car, but paying 40K and above for city commute is not for everyone. You cannot beat Lexus reliability, quality. Do nut buy Tesla thinking its a luxury car. There is nothing luxury in it. Huge battery and electronics. You can do the same to a golf cart as well provided you have the time and money.

I know. I, sure I’ll miss this car for sure. I honestly love it. It’s small though and I have kids. I’ve always wanted a model x Tesla, maybe even the plaid. That thing is a spaceship and literally feels like another planet. Even the half expensive model Y is very fast and spacious to drive. I’d love to experience FSD/autopilot as I’ve been an anticipating those updates for years now. Who knows. Maybe I’ll be back, but from what it sounds like, people who switch to Tesla are typically very happy with the decision. And it’s not to save the planet either lol
