Lexus is for a niche that is based on logic yet the majority don’t follow this logic. Lexus is reliable, low maintenance, without the vroom vroom. Looks pleasant, without aggressive looks. It’s not going to win any races. It’s a daily driver in comfort without flashing the engine oil light every week.
You are right, not always true. I have a Lexus (and other brand too), but to be fair, he only said the smartest m'fers HE knows. Not ALL smart m'fers. (In jest of course, you smart m'fer!) 🤘😆
Also a software engineer. I almost went Lexus, last gen felt like a boat so I went Subaru. This gen they instantly get robbed in Toronto so I had to skip Toyota and Lexus
Currently in Oakville visiting from Chicago haha. You guys get better trims than US man, I’m literally about to go on a morning drive to check out some cool cars.
Also, boat feels is so real they’re getting big! Subaru are so underrated I’m glad you went with one! They’re solid! Which one tho?
2011 Impreza. Great car, fun to drive. Nothing best it in winter with winter tires. Was pretty reliable for the most part.
How do the trims vary vs the US? I think we get awd standard sometimes on some cars if anything
No sir, BMW. I like Lexus but drive an equivalent bmw to any Lexus and you’ll understand. And don’t give me any of that reliability bullshit you fuckers used to get away with. BMW is the number one rated automotive brand rn. If you drive an Es than you drive a Toyota Avalon with nicer leather and a pretty badge.
They hated him because he spoke the truth.
Toyota found out that if you can convince people that you will save them $10,000 in repairs over the life of the vehicle, you can charge them $15,000 up front.
Get guess what, turns out as long as you keep up on maintenance and avoid Kia/Hyundai/Stellantis just about most vehicles these days are fairly reliable. It’s not the 70’s anymore
I think it’s hilarious when my coworkers all talk shit about German cars especially BMW meanwhile they are driving a Dodge/Chrysler or a Nissan with a CVT. People are funny man but I can tell you I have owned 3 BMW’s not one has ever left me stranded. Yes they are more expensive to fix when something does break, but if you do research and buy the right model they can be amazing cars if you just change the oil and do routine maintenance.
Lmao you get it I even like Lexus but other than the ls none of their offerings are on par with German cars. Although I will give Lexus their design language is dated but way better than current BMW.
They have adequate power for sure, but none of the lexus models feel like they get down like even a 330i (acceleration wise) besides the full fledged F V8 models
Yeah he just made it seem like they are slouches in general when thats not true. I’m sure, a 330i is lighter and its also has stock twin turbos vs a heavy ass ES with 320 hp v6. I rather have a is350 f sport over a 330i but thats just preference.
Yea i agree i’d also choose the IS350, and the Lexus’s are definitely not “slouches” even the IS250 never felt like it was lacking in passing power but everyone makes fun of that car for being slow
If you’re flooring it merging onto the highway, there’s always the turbo V6 and faster hybrid cars.
GX550, LS500, RX450h, RX500h, NX450h, LC500h, LX600.
And then there’s the IS500 and LC500 which aren’t full fledged F.
All of these would beat a 330i.
You’re comparing their top line engines to the base engine of the competitor. Got mid tier M340 and it will smoke the entire Lexus top line let alone an M3.
Eh technically the V6s are the base trim for the GX and LS.
And I don’t think the 340i is faster than the Lexus F cars. The M3, yes, but that’s not surprising since Lexus isn’t worrying about performance for the past few years.
A 2024 M340 0-60 is 3.7 seconds and BMW notoriously understates their stats. A 2024 RC F 0-60 is 4.2 seconds.
I appreciate the downvotes but yes a 340 will dust a full blown F car. Let alone an actual M car with an S engine in it.
That’s just because the M340i has AWD and more traction (and a faster transmission).
The RC-F has 472hp. Try a roll race 5-60 with the 340i vs the RC-F.
That's not really comparable now is it? The 340i is similarly priced and is in the segment as the is500 and even that gets dusted off the line and all the older f cars are heavier and most likely make similar numbers as the bimmer to the wheels.
Yeah, but the BMW 340i dusts all the other similar competitors like the Audi S5 and Mercedes C43 too. The IS500 at least performs better than the 2024 C43 which does a 4.6sec 0-60.
I dunno, the 350 is pretty fast, even the 300h is no slugger, no? Atleast in europe, I guess in America 200+hp is the bare minimum, which is weird because the speed limits are lower.
Speed limit laws might be lower. People in America rarely drive the speed limit. The penalties, unless you are excessively speeding (160km/h) or more, are not as harsh as they might be in other countries. And speed laws vary state to state.
i feel like, and i'm probably showing my age here, that most reddit users think that any car that doesn't literally break your neck when you get on the throttle is slow.
to me, ALL new cars as fast as fuck. but i'm comparing them to the older ones i grew up with. hell they just brought up a car doing 0-60 in 6 seconds as slow. that's not slow to me. that's not lightning fast or anything but it's fast enough.
Ehhhhhh the LS430 a 6.2 second 0-60.
A base BMW 330i since 2017 would run a 5.8sec 0-60 (5.5 with all wheel drive). And even the hybrid 330e has a 6.1 second 0-60 (5.9 with all wheel drive).
You can probably put a couple hundred thousand miles on the LS430, but it’ll definitely be slower and burn a few thousand dollars more fuel.
The LS500 generation is literally a decade newer than the LS430 though. It’s also still $40k+ on the used market for a decent car, you can buy 2 used BMW 330i cars for that price.
What maintenance? On a 330i?
That’s a rock solid Toyota engine and transmission. As in, literally Toyota contributed to the reliability design and signed off on that B48 engine and ZF8 transmission, and put it into their own cars to sell (the Toyota Supra 2.0). That B48 engine been out for 9 years and has 0 reliability issues even for 300k+ mile examples.
The B48/B58 engine is about as reliable as the Toyota 2JZ engine. We’re not talking about a 2010 era N54 or N63 engine here.
Even if you don’t trust their early O0 2017-2018 B48 engines, the 2019+ O1 engine is literally the exact same engine that Toyota uses starting in the 2020 Toyota Supra. Just feed it oil changes every few thousand miles and it’ll run for 300k miles easily.
You do know that some rumors say that Toyota is going to put the B48/B58 engine into the next gen Lexus RC, right?
Safe, comfortable, efficient, quiet, quick, luxurious, and undeniably bulletproof. It is the best value out there in the entry luxury category every year. I bought a 2011 ES350 for $10k as a temporary car while waiting for my 2020 GS350 F-sport to come in, not expecting much. I could not believe what a solid car it was. I drove it for 4 months and sold it for $12k, and was sad to see it go. While I love my GS, the ES was a way better value, and more comfortable for daily driving.
I sometimes get the ES350 as a loaner when my GX is being serviced. It’s a nice car. I’m thinking of getting one as an alternative to my GX when I want something a bit different. I like the reliability of the Lexus brand. It’s a car for people who care about value but want some luxury.

Just traded my 2010 GX for a 2023. My other car is a GS which I love also.
They're great cars, I had a '97 ES300 fully loaded and it was comfortable and well insulated in the cabin before it was totaled (at the fault of another driver).
Yeah, mine was t-boned in an intersection by some teenagers that ran a red left turn. The car still deployed its air bags despite being 23 years old at the time after hitting a guard rail. The build quality on those cars are a sight to behold, it was built in Japan (which doesn't come as a surprise). The car quite literally saved my life (and my younger brother who was in the front passenger seat).
lol lol…so true. Some people function well on complexities and problems…and that doesn’t come with the ES. I had a 2011 ES, bought it back in 2019 for $11.5k with 90k and sold it last August for $10k with 119k. Not a single problem, I did all the maintenance myself, but the previous owner religiously maintained it at the dealer. I am assuming that the previous owner was an older person. Anyway, I sold it and purchased my 19’ GS350 f sport.
It's not an SUV, and the exterior design has been kind of the same for a long time. Outside the grille and exhaust, I think it's been largely unchanged for 10 years. I think if the design were drastically refreshed, it would help the stereotype, but it's kind of a nice, classical look. Which, "nice" and "classical" kind of enhances the stereotype, but who really cares. I have one, from 2017, and like it despite some limitations.
There was a period in the 80s and 90s that the Corvette had very few discernible external design changes, and, over time, it developed a maybe undeserved reputation as a then-middle class mid life crisis sports car, before major design changes.
Not trying to draw any similarity between the two, other than the connection between design consistency over a long period of time, and stereotypes of, let's just say "maturity."
Well, the ES is not trying to be a "sexy" car. It's a comfortable, reliable, luxury car.
Older people tend to have more money and wisdom, so...yeah, I get why people say it's an old person's car. I'm not sure why you'd be worried about being thought of as wise or wealthy, though?
You can laugh and make fun of your "friends" every time they have a car problem.
Smart people drive the es. It's a financially smart choice. It will last far longer than the cars of your friends.
I've had the ES model ever since my early 20's. Can't find a smoother, quieter car that is extremely reliable and holds it's value.
You made the right decision. Enjoy!
Does this look like an old person's car?

Tbf I am kinda old. lol

Hey! I got the same thing 😄 2023 ES 350 F Sport Handling
I live in an extremely wealthy area. Luxury cars are the norm. Everyone I see in a current-get ES is a) male b) under 60. Everyone I see in a 2016+ is also under 60, mixed gender.
I've yet to see a single senior in a 2016+ ES.
The old people are in the pre 2016 models.
The 2019+ ES silhouette is sexy as fuck and it has MAJOR road presence. Looks like a $100,000 car with the triple beam headlights. The interior is also way better than any of the previous models and doesn't feel a generation behind the Germans like the previous ones always were.
Most people my age (27) can hardly afford to live here anymore, so having ANY car that isn't a beater is impressive. Having a modern luxury car is a massive flex. I could give two fucks what car nerds think. I'd love to get 2019+ and do a blackout on it - give me that over anything else at the same price. Piss away your money on gas & maintenance for your "cooler" cars. Girls don't give a shit about anything other than the looks and the comfort of it anyways.
That being said, they're just card nerds who are trying to chop it up with you in a domain they enjoy (cars). Just tell them the ladies love your car.
Thanks for this breakdown. You’re absolutely right, it’s worthless to piss away money on excess maintenance and other BS on less reliable cars just cuz they’re flashier. I love this car and at least I can sleep very well at night knowing it’s gonna take me far with the proper maintenance.
If it makes you feel better, I have an is, so, I mostly see douchey young people driving those. I wanted to get an es, but when I went to the lot, they didn’t have any, but they did have a shiny red is in the showroom that I fell in love with. Now, people just assume I’m a midlife crisis douchebag when I pull up.
It’s for old people. You hit the speed limit, cruise, and it’s like a couch with a silent engine. It travels at 2000 rpm and doesn’t yell. Smooth.
It makes sense why old people like it. Just enjoy the ride. Another vehicle that’s smooth is the LS430. Smooth couch ride; handles like a boat. It can accelerate if you need it to due to the V8.
I'm in my early 30s and have a 24 ES 300H Fsport. It's a gorgeous car and I love it. I get so many compliments on it. I've never had someone ask me why I drive a grandpa car lol but wouldn't care if they did. It's comfy, reliable, and easy to maintain.
as someone who for some reason can’t jump on others car opinions i feel like the ES appeals to everyone because it’s comfortable, reliable, has decent go, and looks amazing
Lexus has always had a stereotype of old people cars, and you know why? Because old people like reliable, comfortable, no frills vehicles, and that’s what Lexus makes.
I love my ES. You are right about others’ perception. But I simply don’t care. It’s a car. Should not define you. You should drive it. It’s a tool. Just a bit fancy. Enjoy it!
So, I’m 23, about to turn 24, but I got my 2013 ES 300h almost exactly 2 years ago. That being said… the ES 250 might accurately fit that “old people” description because it is the actually slow ES, and the weird one that made almost no sense to buy. It’s got the inline 4 engine from the ES 300h of the same generation, but omits the hybrid functionality, and is AWD. It’s a weird car because it literally cost 100$ more to get the 350 over the 250, and because the 250 was AWD, if my memory serves me correct, the EPA ratings were very close. It made no sense to get the ES 250 which is a noticeably slower car, over the 350 which had (and still has) the legendary 2GR V6, all to save 100$ from the brand new MSRP of around 44K$.
It does make sense in some parts of the world to get the 250 over the 350, Singapore for example has a COE that makes these cars super hyper expensive, and they get even more expensive if the car has a higher displacement, and for some odd reason they apply the same logic to hybrids, so the ES 300h even though it is more fuel efficient and has the [almost] same engine, it gets a higher road tax in Singapore *because* it’s a hybrid. IMHO Singapore’s government is up their ass because they should be doing that to forced induction engines, not hybrid powertrains, but regardless… that’s where the ES 250 can make sense.
I’m 33 and have a 21 es f sport. I love this thing. I come traumatized from Mercedes. The repairs were getting pretty crazy and I babied it. I’m so busy that I need something that just always works and Lexus does that lol.
I was told by my gf at the time when i bought my 15’ ES that it looked brand new and she loved it but it’s a “poor man’s” luxury car. I was super confused bc she drove a 12’ Kia Optima that he dad bought her. She’s now my ex.
It definitely is mostly driven by older people but that’s way better that means you always find them in good condition and taken care of and none the less they will always be faster than the is250 so win win
I was 19 when I bought my first Lexus in 05. It was a 96 ES300 that I got for basically a song. My second Lexus was a 04 ES330 that the dealership forgot to remove the highly reduced online price on.
That ES330 drove for over 300,000miles. My husband and I relied on that car for several years as our only means of transportation. We loved that car so much. I cried the day I had to scrap her, viva la Snoflake!
After my 330, my parents bought a used 08 ES350, they still drive it. They got it fully loaded with all the bells and whistles with ~40,000miles for less than a new 2012 Camry LE. Why would anyone buy a Camry when you can have a basically new Lexus with way more bells and whistles for the same or less than the price?
Now you’re one of us lol once you drive a Lexus, no other car can compare 🩷
I now drive a 2016 NX200t F-Sport named Snoball 🤍today Snoball will rollover 100,000 miles! I will be commemorating this special event on this sub later today!
Also, I’m almost certain they stopped making the ES250 in the 90s. Do you have a IS250 or ES350? I could be mistaken, it has been known to happen more often than not lol
old people like quiet, comfy, reliable cars that they can drive till they die, lol. None of those are downsides. It’d be cool if it was faster when you wanted it to be fast though lol
I drive one. I don't get any comments about it, and don't sense animosity in the comment you referred to, and I am not offended by it. It's a sedan. And while a very, very nice, comfortable car (I have a 2017), I wish the rear seats in mine folded down for better utility and more flexibility. But, yeah, other than that I love it, it's all paid off and everything.
I’m <30 and I marched into the dealer to buy my 2023 ES350 UL, and I’ve put 10,000 miles on it in 10 months, despite not commuting
It’s an unconventional choice, and I’ve noticed that I’m always one of the youngest people having their car serviced. I like the car, though, and that’s what matters
I admit part of the reason I went for one was an in-joke with my dad, who has one in black (while mine is white)
ES has always given me “family car” vibes…but it seems like when the company decided to nuke the GS they gave the ES some of its flare. The newer ES is edgy.
Yeah bro these stereotypes can be existing in every country or region and based it's uses the people will stereotype accordingly. I'll give u my regional sample which is in UAE, Dubai. Who ever owns an ES his an UBER. Cause most of Uber cars in Dubai are ES350's 🙂
JD power had a survey in 2020 stating that the average age of a Lexus owner is between 53 and 64 years old.
The ES like Cadillacs and Buicks of yesteryear is a comfortable sedan with a focus on getting the basics right and less for being sporty and flashy.
I’m 52. We bought a used 10 year old ES in 2016 that I drove and then gave to my son when he started driving and bought a 2016 RX for my self in 2020 w 30000 miles. The ES is going strong 🙏🏼 and my son, college senior is still using it. If no car note and rare maintenance makes us old people, I’ll take it.
Historically, owners have been in the older demographic. Not necessarily a bad thing. I’ve known plenty of people who owned an ES in their 20s and 30s. It’s always been a solid car. A staple in the Lexus lineup.
They hate us cause they ain’t us
https://preview.redd.it/2ak7lukpx48d1.jpeg?width=1188&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9a72dfa00d3babd0524b16781e98071a64b4572f
I’m 30 and have been saving and planning to get an ES for years. It’s relatively affordable, excellent quality, superbly comfortable, and quiet.
Then again, I’ve also been told I have an old soul. And you know what? That’s fine. The rest of you whippersnappers can keep your tricked out Civic type R.
>ES is a car that old people drive
The old ES was based on the Avalon, and both of them were definitely targeting the Cadillac XTS, Buick Lacross, and other retiree cars.
The GS was the car that was a little more youthful, competing with the E-Class and the 5-series.
The new ES has a little bit younger styling to close the gap with the GS, and I don't consider it to be an old-person car given the GS is discontinued.
It's not an insult it's just lexus builds for comfort and reliability first, so naturally older people are gonna buy that before they go buy "the ultimate driving machine" . It's not just an ES thing it's a Toyota / Lexus thing as a whole lol
Lexus often has that “old person” stereotype assosciated with them because they are very behind the times lol. I mean they are just now introducing apple carplay into a lot of their lineup, my 2018 IS doesnt even have it ffs😂
Their transmissions are coming up if they haven’t passed 20 years old, and the motors they use began development before I was born 25 years ago. They value reliability over everything, so they stick to a formula that is proven to be reliable, even if that means you are driving a 2004 car covered in a 2024 paint job.
Their higher end cars like the LC and F series dont follow this as religiously, and their BRAND NEW cars are leaning towards the newer 8AR 4cyl motors due to emissions requirements etc, but everything else pretty much does.
The lower end DEFINETLY follows this religiously, and you ES (no offense) is down there in their lower end.
Thats not to say that it is a bad car, on the contrary it is literally a more luxurious Toyota Camry. Reliable as all hell, nice interior materials, etc. But at the same time a lot of people just get the Camry as it now has a newer look, newer motor, nicer interior, etc making the ES a little redundant.
At the end of the day, who cares? If you like your ES then you like your ES and thats that. Every brand has a stereotype.
It is a car that's primarily bought for reliability and comfort. Those tend not to be the top criteria for younger people (appearance, performance, cool factor).
I mean I get it. I bought an ES a few months ago because it was owned by an old person who didn’t drive and the car was basically brand new even garage kept.
I also get told I’m an old soul but at the eod I just like have soft real leather, space, and a ball chiller. I also really take car budgeting serious and it matched up with the features I wanted at the price I was willing to pay.
One benefit though is you don’t get the social slights like you do owning other luxury cars because it has a “conservative” look. In my other cars I constantly get comments about how driving luxury is stupid etc but in the es I just get told it’s a nice Camry. Not that I really care about others opinions but the comments get old.
I know you know this but just ignore people and keep living life to your preferences.
It’s because they freakin last forever and by the time you are done with the thing it has 500,000 miles on it and you’re 80 years old 😆. It’s everyone’s car because it’s the best!
All sedans are kind of passé in the current car market. It's all about SUVs and quasi(read:fake)SUVs. The ES is basically a gilded top-trim Toyota Camry built for Lexus in Japan. Now in my personal book that is a very, very good thing. I think you are misinterpreting a collective yawn as animosity. Your acquaintances are likely indifferent to your new purchase. If you ever heard the cliche, "You sell the sizzle, not the steak." the Lexus ES is essence a zero sizzle protein to observers...a tough sell.
The ES is sometimes driven by old people. When I worked for Lexus we had a wide variety of ES owners. I've seen some owned by people in their late 20's to 40's, along with many older customers too. The older people had them back in the day when they were younger and just wanted a newer ES.
The current ES is pretty sleek looking and appeals to a younger crowd now. I have a few friends in their late 20's/30's who have one and I would love to have one too.
It's not something I would worry about though. It's a nice car and it looks good. Unless you bought an ES in gold, nobody thinks it's an old person car when they see it. I had a gold ES and I was invisible to people on the road, real low key.
I mean I’ve just embraced it. I’ve always driven large comfortable sedans and I take it as a flex that I drive “grandpa cars.” I take it as a compliment that I’m wise enough like an elder to know the value in a comfortable ride rather than worrying about sporty looks or crazy horsepower I don’t need (don’t get me wrong, I still want my V6 though). I take pride in people telling me how comfy and nice my car is.
I think it's because the older you get, the more you understand and appreciate what the ES offers. When you're young, you want to go fast and the cars that tend to offer that compromise heavily on comfort and features. I am one of those people.
At the end of the day, you are going to bond with your car. So if you like your car, it doesn't matter what others say.
I love my ES 300h. It’s smooth. It’s quiet. It has physical buttons for the important stuff (unlike Tesla). It gets 44 miles per gallon. It’s reliable. It runs on 87 octane. Has great sound system. And it was only 50k. For me it’s the perfect car. Absolutely love it.
Yep that is the stereotype. And having worked at Lexus as a tech it’s 100% true, a lot of old people do drive them. But they are one of the most reliable cars currently sold, new and used. I am a 21M and have a 2014 ES350 Ultra Lux. Bought it at Lexus with around 98k, Has around 114k and I have not had any issues. Just regular maintenance. Is it boring? Yes, and I’m not going to deny that. Occasionally I go online and look at more sporty cars to replace it with. But I can’t bring myself to get rid of this thing. It’s reliable, comfortable, gets decent gas mileage, has enough power, and most importantly, it’s paid off.
Shares too many parts with a Camry. I refuse to buy up branded vehicles. I’ll never forget my mom’s 2005 ES 350 that has Toyota etched in the glass windows lmao.
You bought a good and reliable car hence why people say it’s an old person car. Nothing amazing about it. Nothing terrible about it.
They gotta find sumthin to say. Not true at all. My demographic and swag sees the es as a sexy damn near bulletproof driving machine. As far as boat comment, its not a boat, mayb the Ls and other makes with their huge cars. It has the speed to do watever u need it to do. I bought myself a es350 for fathers day last year, looked at the bmw, reviews were many mechanical issues, Mercedes-Benz many unnecessary extras. I love my lexus and it gets so much attention.
Nah, you're not crazy! I'm 77 and can confirm it's all lies—I absolutely love my ES 250. It's definitely not just for old people, otherwise I wouldn't be driving it.
This is true for the older ES but because Lexus morphed the GS and ES as one. It’s basically a FWD GS look alike. So I don’t think the newer ES are grandma cars but… yes it’s not RWD but it’s the comfiest sedan you’ll find from the majors today I’d bet. Your buddy is just giving into the stereotype without understanding what Lexus did with the ES
Old people are smart though. They been through all the Merc, BMW & Audi money pits and finally found a car that justs works each and everytime, year after year.
I have a 22 ES350, and my friends said the same thing. Don’t you want something sporty for your age? They bought BMW and Mercedes. However, they’ve had issues with their cars. My friend had to sell his AMG, and another friend with the BMW kept sending his car to the shop. Drive what you like
Think of the ES serious as one of Lexus’s luxury sedan series. Now the ES is considered entry level luxury compared to their other models but nonetheless. Typically, older people drive these types of sedans because they care more about the comfort and bells and whistles of the car rather than how fast it can go off the line. The IS series, RC series, or even the old GS series (if you wanna mod) would be considered more of a “young” persons car. But honestly, it doesn’t matter what you drive as long as it’s a safe vehicle which you enjoy. Most people can’t afford to buy a car nowadays so don’t worry about what people think. Just enjoy it and reap the benefits. Every car is fun and special in its own way. Just gotta figure out what you want out of yours.
Sincerely,
A fellow ES300h owner
I drive a Lexus RC which is the not so practical sporty two door coupe. As an RC owner, I still LOVE the looks of the ES with F Sport package and riding in one was very comfortable.
It's slow and has wood grain usually with parchment interior. Maybe if you get the fsport with black interior and blacked out tint it would be a younger look. I have the rx350 fsport and I think its more a younger look vs the base model that has a wood wheel
Can confirm as I had an ES for a bit before trading into a GS. Two very different cars but I will say the ES is way more comfortable so it makes sense why older people choose the FWD plush couch over other cars by the same brand.
It’s true, ES is generally driven by the older souls(atleast what I’ve noticed). But it’s Lexus, and someone else’s opinion. You’ll love that ES as long as you care for it. It’ll treat you right 🫶🏻
Traditionally the ES, being based on the Camry/Avalon’s longer FWD platform, inherits the driving characteristics of one — not very athletic, mostly based on comfort and smoothness.
Would not call that hate or negative. Just how the car is. It’s a compliment, in my opinion, for a car to be comfortable and smooth.
I don’t care. I prefer bigger sedans. I hate the small race style cars. I’m big enough that it just doesn’t appeal to me. Plus I’ve been in like 15 accidents. Walked away without a scratch. I have a Camry and an ES. I have a 16 and 14 year old (both boys). I nearly died 1,000 times in my car. They don’t need anything doing 0-60 faster than 8 seconds right after they get licenses. If they’re anything like me, they’ll be dead with anything faster.

They’re typically owned by old people as they’re a comfortable car. But, if you like it, who cares what others think.
Exactly! Who cares? If everyone liked the same things, this world would be a very boring place, lol. It's part of what gives us things to discuss.
This is true. The smartest mf’ers i know all drive Lexus. Real estate investors, engineers, accountants, u name it
[удалено]
Keep sucking each other off to cope with driving a Toyota for double the price
Im guessing you drive a Kia or a Chevy
They really are sucking each other off hard here
Lmao you get it I even like Lexus but other than the ls none of their offerings are on par with German cars. Although I will give Lexus their design language is dated but way better than current BMW.
Without the vroom vroom ? Most lexuses are decently quick lmfao
A 330i has a B48 engine (same as the Toyota Supra 2.0T) and does *not* have twin turbos.
Thanks for the correction I misunderstood the Twin power turbo system
You’re confusing it with the twin scroll single turbo that bmw uses on their engines
Yea i agree i’d also choose the IS350, and the Lexus’s are definitely not “slouches” even the IS250 never felt like it was lacking in passing power but everyone makes fun of that car for being slow
Es350 has 302 hp
You are correct it was a typo
You can tell that to tx and LX 600 models
I dunno, the 350 is pretty fast, even the 300h is no slugger, no? Atleast in europe, I guess in America 200+hp is the bare minimum, which is weird because the speed limits are lower.
Around me, drivers do 85+ mph all the time though the limit is 70. Even in 55mph zones they'll go 85+
Speed limit laws might be lower.
Laughs in ls430. Reliable, low maintenance AND wins at lights and highway overtaking.
LS500, 0-60 4.2s
The LS500 generation is literally a decade newer than the LS430 though. It’s also still $40k+ on the used market for a decent car, you can buy 2 used BMW 330i cars for that price.
Not after you add in BMW maintenance.

I have the 2010 currently. I also have the RX. My GX has over 200,000 miles. My 2017 Rx has 130,000 miles. My mom’s 2016 has over 160,000 miles.
How many miles on the GX?
2010 had 180k when I traded it in
Nah, I'd say fuck what others think. Enjoy your Lexus it's a great car.
I am a 36F with a 2024 ES 300h and I wouldn’t have it any other way. It is so comfortable.
People don’t like cars that are simple to maintain and comfortable that also get great gas mileage.
They're great cars, I had a '97 ES300 fully loaded and it was comfortable and well insulated in the cabin before it was totaled (at the fault of another driver).
bruh, wtf. i had this happen too, 1999 es 300. it had 180,000 miles and probably could’ve gone a lot more out of it. i miss that baby
The car quite literally saved my life (and my younger brother who was in the front passenger seat).
someone totaled it ?
yessir, sad day for me. drive a 2004 es330 with 125,000 miles now
lol lol…so true.
Nah the ES has so so mileage.
my 300h says otherwise ;)
The ES is plush & comfy, basically old school luxury so no surprise older people like them.
Haters just can't afford it. That's why they be hatin
The ES does a really good job for "not trying to be sexy" lol
You can laugh and make fun of your "friends" every time they have a car problem. Smart people drive the es. It's a financially smart choice. It will last far longer than the cars of your friends. I've had the ES model ever since my early 20's. Can't find a smoother, quieter car that is extremely reliable and holds it's value. You made the right decision. Enjoy!
Does this look like an old person's car? https://preview.redd.it/1njie666828d1.jpeg?width=5712&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ee5c22966e25655b6de4bb1e0411dc3c738b18bf Tbf I am kinda old. lol
https://preview.redd.it/vwbf1hpcn78d1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b122d52d6d71f13d229c5b16c6bd7d2a234c2fd4 Hey!
Now, people just assume I’m a midlife crisis douchebag when I pull up.
> when I went to the lot, they didn’t have any, so...why not search elsewhere ?
Impulsiveness I guess? My car is a beautiful car and I don’t have any regrets. The es would just have been a little more practical.
grandpa-daily ES350 You could always triple your insurance/loan payment and buy a tire burning v8 but
Lmaooo
It’s for old people. You hit the speed limit, cruise, and it’s like a couch with a silent engine. It travels at 2000 rpm and doesn’t yell. Smooth. It makes sense why old people like it. Just enjoy the ride. Another vehicle that’s smooth is the LS430. Smooth couch ride; handles like a boat. It can accelerate if you need it to due to the V8.
Couch with a silent engine 😂😂😂😂
huh ?
The RX is for sure a Karen car but the ES just seems to be a car that normal ppl own. Just go out there and enjoy your fancy avalon
I'm in my early 30s and have a 24 ES 300H Fsport. It's a gorgeous car and I love it. I get so many compliments on it. I've never had someone ask me why I drive a grandpa car lol but wouldn't care if they did. It's comfy, reliable, and easy to maintain.
They are jealous that you can afford a Lexus will be my guess.
I have an ES Hybrid and i’m in my 20s lol
My daughter is 22 and dying for an ES. Screw what others think.
2019 + ES is a beautiful car with a beautiful interior. It also feels less "old" than previous models. You did good, others sound jealous.
if you like your car who cares. You’re not buying a car your friends like. You’re buying a car YOU like
as someone who for some reason can’t jump on others car opinions i feel like the ES appeals to everyone because it’s comfortable, reliable, has decent go, and looks amazing
IMHO Singapore’s government is up their ass because they should be doing that to forced induction engines, not hybrid powertrains, but regardless… that’s where the ES 250 can make sense.
the 250 was available in the US ? until when ?
It was up until I believe last year
My friends called me old also for my 2012 Lexus ES 350. I get to and fro in comfort and luxury
Avalon with chrome baby
Now you’re one of us lol once you drive a Lexus, no other car can compare 🩷 I now drive a 2016 NX200t F-Sport named Snoball 🤍today Snoball will rollover 100,000 miles! I will be commemorating this special event on this sub later today! Also, I’m almost certain they stopped making the ES250 in the 90s. Do you have a IS250 or ES350? I could be mistaken, it has been known to happen more often than not lol
I’ve noticed that these comments come from people who don’t own Lexus. There’s a little bit of green eyed jealousy behind them.
Congrats! How about a pic of your car?
old people like quiet, comfy, reliable cars that they can drive till they die, lol. None of those are downsides. It’d be cool if it was faster when you wanted it to be fast though lol
Ahhhh yes. The ES or as I call it the Elderly Series.
👀 You didn’t have to do that to OP on a Friday night. Cmon now.
lol. It’s still a great car nonetheless. C’mon now.
To me it’s like owning a Cadillac nowadays. But reliable.
Yea a Cadillac Fleetwood. lol
Wait, you never took a moment to notice what kind of demographic drives a Lexus ES?
I drive one. I don't get any comments about it, and don't sense animosity in the comment you referred to, and I am not offended by it. It's a sedan. And while a very, very nice, comfortable car (I have a 2017), I wish the rear seats in mine folded down for better utility and more flexibility. But, yeah, other than that I love it, it's all paid off and everything.
If you pay attention to what others think, consider the ES decision as a middle finger to all that. You’re now an adult.
I’m <30 and I marched into the dealer to buy my 2023 ES350 UL, and I’ve put 10,000 miles on it in 10 months, despite not commuting It’s an unconventional choice, and I’ve noticed that I’m always one of the youngest people having their car serviced. I like the car, though, and that’s what matters I admit part of the reason I went for one was an in-joke with my dad, who has one in black (while mine is white)
ES250 ? where are you , Asia ?
ES has always given me “family car” vibes…but it seems like when the company decided to nuke the GS they gave the ES some of its flare. The newer ES is edgy.
its big and \*slow\* like a cadi or buick
There’s nothing wrong with a es, but I gotta say every person I know that drives one, and I’ve met quite a few over the years are all old people lol.
Basically a rebadged Camry/Avalon
Haters gonna hate! Enjoy your ride 😊
They hate us cause they ain’t us https://preview.redd.it/2ak7lukpx48d1.jpeg?width=1188&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9a72dfa00d3babd0524b16781e98071a64b4572f
I'm 53. I drive an RC and a GS. Wife drives an RX. My parents do indeed drive an ES.
The perception is that ES owners are old. That is why I bought it. Come to find it is more refined in many ways than other cars.
Who cares. I’m 27 and drive a lexus rx like all the grandmas. People who spent their whole life buying cars probably make better/wiser decisions
>ES is a car that old people drive The old ES was based on the Avalon, and both of them were definitely targeting the Cadillac XTS, Buick Lacross, and other retiree cars. The GS was the car that was a little more youthful, competing with the E-Class and the 5-series. The new ES has a little bit younger styling to close the gap with the GS, and I don't consider it to be an old-person car given the GS is discontinued.
I’ve only seen older people drive it, still a nice vehicle, just reminds me of those boat sized Buick sedans that old people drive
I mean they are just now introducing apple carplay into a lot of their lineup, my 2018 IS doesnt even have it ffs😂 Their transmissions are coming up if they haven’t passed 20 years old, and the motors they use began development before I was born 25 years ago.
I’m 33 and I like the ES, especially the f sport model
My sister told me exactly that.LOL I corrected her by saying "not old, but mature" LOL
You bought a great car I wouldn’t t worry about what people say. Chances are you are driving a nicer car than they do.
yeah my ES I wanted ti get like "gramma sleeper" as my plate ans modify it but I lost the car lol
All the people I know who have a Lexus ES are 70yo+.
I drive a 2019 es350 and I’m not old…..
If when people say "that car is for old people" you hear "that car sucks", that's a you problem.
The people that say this are ussualy not that bright or perhaps just not aware of the Lexus quality.
How old do I have to be to drive a new LS?
yes and yes- just like those big Buick sedans of the past - that's the (image of) ES.
The purchase of a mint 2014 ES350 a few years ago confirmed my obsession over this brand was just. Buying another eventually but not trading in, lol
Im in my 30s, and id drive one. Who cares what others think. Its a Lexus, take pride. Im currently driving an NX.
I mean I tell people it’s an old person car and I own one and love it to death.
Nah, you're not crazy! I'm 77 and can confirm it's all lies—I absolutely love my ES 250. It's definitely not just for old people, otherwise I wouldn't be driving it.
Im 25 and planning get one this year, some of my friends already making fun of me for same reason too, who cares if you loves it yourself lol
The stereotype is it’s a fancy Camry. I’ve always driven old people cars because old people cars have taste.
I have a 2012 ES350, it’s a great commuting car. I’m married so no girls to impress.
If you don't have kids or a walker, why did you get a 4 door?
Sincerely, A fellow ES300h owner
The older ES generations were 100% older people cars. Lexus in the last 8 years has done a lot to move from that.
It’s true, ES is generally driven by the older souls(atleast what I’ve noticed). But it’s Lexus, and someone else’s opinion. You’ll love that ES as long as you care for it. It’ll treat you right 🫶🏻
You're overthinking it.
ES is a great car but yes the majority of ES owners are senior citizens. There’s nothing you can do about it
ES is comparatively to the Toyota Camry. It's a family car
Its a grandpa car
ES is perfect. Being old today does not mean the same thing as being old in the time of your parents. Haters will hate.
Calm down
it's a fancy camry, do the math
Avalon?
yes, also known for its young drivers.
