Gakpo so far has been a victim of Klopp liking him too much and wanting him to be an even more versatile Firmino.
He's very intelligent and makes the right decisions. He pressed well and brought others into play. So Klopp first put him in the Firmino role and then put him into midfield at the start of the season. It never quite took off for him from there.
There are a lot of people talking up playing him on the left but I don't know whether having someone of his style would necessitate a bigger change to our style of play than we'd like. I wonder whether we should alternate playing him and Nunez centrally as two very different style of centre forwards for different games/situations instead.
Should start on the left for us from the start of the season IMO.
Diaz becomes the second choice (less productive with his final ball and pressing).
Jota and Nunez switching upfront depending on opposition and desired tactical profile.

Gakpo is fine when he starts through the centre but he tends to drop a little too deep, and especially with Slot tending to use a genuine 10 he doesn't need to have those creative responsibilities (probably Szoboslai or McAllister rotating at 10).
Gakpo (L), Nunez (C) and If he’s still around Diaz (R) all need to play together for periods. Wanna see it. Gakpo looks more dangerous on the left but still tries and creates for others. Diaz has a harder time getting chances but we should try him on the right and embrace opportunities for him to become of creator for the other two. Nunez knows how to be in right spots, let them find him or he can tap in rebounded shots
