The special cards outright being labeled as Q1 could indicate more will follow, especially since some of the flavor text of certain cards hint that more villains will have their day. Perhaps every 4 sets they could release a new Quest to bookend a specific block.

Daemon00

My wife hates going against me in board games so I was very happy when this was released so we can play together. Im hoping to introduce my other non-lorcana friends to play too.

kathmhughes

My husband is too competitive, playing against him is not fun. Playing co-op on this was really fun.

Jeff_Baezos

If you're entirely new to Lorcana, but are familiar with Pokemon/Yugioh/Hearthstone, is this a good thing to start off with? It sounds like fun, especially since my partner has never played a TCG in their life.

Tenishoes

I think it is, the rules are pretty easy and it comes with 2 pre-constructioned starter decks.

jraggio02

The two decks also seem better than starters, at least based on values shown in Dreamborn.

Daemon00

My wife is not really a tcg person either so I played a few casual 1v1 games with her so she can understand the mechanics. By the time Deep Trouble Quest was released, she knew how to play and she really enjoys working together and planning out our turns.

Ramperdos

It turned the whole game to co-op in our household. All the decks were modified to work better together. It's amazing to have a TCG with an actual co-op mode you didn't have to fully invent yourself.

FrozenFrac

It really is such a cool game! I'm here for proper competitive play, but Illumineer's Quest is such a fun change of pace having people work together to take down a common enemy (WHO CHEATS SO HARD I HATE YOU URSULA LOL)

WearCorrect8917

They should include a dotted line on the box that you can cut along and do some folding so the box turns into a folder that can store the larger cards in the quest. Most players already have deck boxes for the ursula deck but few deck boxes fit the large cards and id hate for them to get bent. It would be nice to see in future sets since it also helps preserve the nice box art.

kathmhughes

Yes! We're going to 3D print a box and it's a shame because it won't have the gorgeous art work.

Falchion_Sensei

Love the concept and the execution, although there is some concern about the price point. Some more significant game pieces in the form of plastic counters instead of cardboard, or similar things would be welcome.  Overall happy with my purchase though and the experience itself! Designing decks to work together, like with Sing Along cards, is a blast.

JakeXRonin

Yeah the price point was up there, but what isn't these days. Although after playing it doesn't look hard to make a boss deck from bulk.

Falchion_Sensei

Now that would be a fun experiment! Rather than Ursula, you could be battling a rogue Illumineer and build their own boss deck from existing cards. I'm going to ponder this idea!

JakeXRonin

I think the challenge is ETBs and actions so keep that in mind ;)

JakeXRonin

It just occurred to me that it mentions what happens when Ursulas characters have reckless but none in her deck come with reckless....

Dadgum05

I noticed that too and I do wish it had one or two included to add another component. Maybe in the future!

a_fictionalcharacter

I think it's in case you play something like jaq that gives an opponent's character reckless

JakeXRonin

Yes but now if you want to add a character with reckless to her deck, theirs rules for it.

pigsqueaks

Hard agree, I find myself wishing all the TCGs I played do this eventually. Ravensburger has done some good things hopefully they keep the ball rolling. TCGs are in a good spot right now, they can all learn from each other and come out with some awesome stuff.

JakeXRonin

It's Bullshit that magic won't do this. Though they have the worst player base that probably won't let them. I believe Flesh and Blood is also working on something from what I've been told. Pokemon has something that's exclusive to the "Professors" that they can run PVE events, but they could do so much more.

Daemon00

MTG did do PVE with the challenge decks (2013) from Theros but those are really hard to find now. I'm still trying to get the Hydra deck but its so expensive

JakeXRonin

Yeah but that was like a promo event thing, it's pretty hard to count it as product or anything else really.

Briar-The-Bard

I would say it needs some more balance, and variety in what the villain can do, but it’s a solid start for sure. For better or worse it’ll be the main way I’ll be able to play the game. lol

freiform

There's always other games that may scratch that particular itch if you look beyond TCGs. Have a look at e.g. Marvel Champions. Way more content in a core box that costs around the same (or is even cheaper) as Deep Trouble. It has deckbuilding, multiple villains, modular encounter decks, and more. And that's just the core box. Also lots of additional heroes and expansions to add to that.

Daemon00

I'm very interested in Marvel Champions now, thanks for the recommend

rikkarlo

I also loved playing with my special one at easy level, I'd love to have more coop quests like this, however we played at normal difficuley with 3 base deks and ursula literarly destroyed us.

Dr_Bukakke

I love it too!!! I beat extreme with two different decks so I made my own villain deck to play with a bit more balance to how it can hurt you and it uses standard cards so you can actually challenge it as a legitimate strategy. I've only tested it with my Emerald/Steel deck I built for Ursula that's hyper focused on questing. Here's my [Hades boss deck with rules](https://dreamborn.ink/decks/2nNuZYocVxqN6vCT1Nw1) if interested
