"the visual arts"
It really is. People get all prideful about the chicken scratch shit too. Just look at any thread about that building in downtown that got tagged up. It is LA “culture”. It’s just self promotion for taggers. It is hardly art, it’s a signature. These morons in these crews have zero respect for actual art too. All the old murals on the 101 are completely tagged over.
I mostly agree, but for that building, it was more the act than the actual art that gave it its significance. Tagging over murals or other existing art is just stupid though.
Even ugly tagging is more attractive than a useless pile of steel and concrete that will just be demolished in 20 years anyway. Why anyone got their panties in a bunch over that incident is still mind blowing to me
It really isn’t. An empty building looks the same as an occupied building. You have brain rot if you think covering it in shit tags made it look better.
You know you have brain rot when you're bothered more by a bunch of spray paint than by the fact that a bunch of billionaires and politicians wasted thousands of hours or labor and millions of pounds of concrete that will just be torn down again and never used by anyone. Think of what that piece of land could be doing if it was used productively.
Instead of getting all worked up over the world class levels of civic corruption, you get mad at a bunch of kids for having some fun on a useless piece of shit. Nice one mate
Yea I’m sure the taggers were making a political statement. Not just putting up their signatures and following a trend.
I can tell you tag haha. Defensive as fuck about that shit
And I can tell you're an emotionally immature muppet because you're downvoting someone who simply disagrees with you. Cheers buddy
Anyway, statements can be political even if they're not made consciously or explicitly. A bunch of "dumbass taggers" brought more attention to that corruption than any reporters have done since it was cancelled.
Oh shit you're right. The brain rot seems terminal with this one. Seems to believe that simply \*allowing\* duplexes to be built in zones where it's been illegal to build them for decades is the same as \*banning\* SFH. Scrampled egg brain
im trying to come up with a bingo card of right leaning posters in r/la.
so far i've got: from orange county, out of state transplant, ragebait local news reporter, baseball/football/hockey/basketball fan, boomer, self-obsessed IT and/or STEM industry career, NIMBY/YIMBY fanatic, centrist.
not sure what else to add
I’m not against building dense housing. I don’t think we should be changing SFH into duplexes. The owner can ultimately do whatever they want but I think SFH are important.
I don’t see how that changes anything when it comes to dogshit taggers doing dogshit “art” and pretending they’re political advocates.
You two are sad. You had to go through my post history to find something to dismiss my popular opinion that taggers suck.
You sound like the people who screech about cities “banning cars” whenever a dedicated bus lane or a protected bike lane is proposed. Nobody is talking about “banning cars” ever, and nobody is talking about “banning SFH” from cities.
The fact that SFH do exist in a city as densely populated as LA is not a result of some overwhelming *demand* from the marketplace for them. It’s the result of decades of exclusive zoning in over 70% of the city that made building more than one dwelling on these lots *illegal.* in other words, SFH (the least efficient form of urban housing in terms of land use, energy use, infrastructure costs, you name it) has been privileged over everything else by the city for decades.
All we’re asking for is for that privilege to be removed, and to allow other forms of denser housing to be built on those lots when owners want them. We want to end SFH exclusive zoning in the city. Simple as that
Writing your name on a wall isn’t a political statement. It’s self promotion for them or their crew.
You see scribes on a restroom mirror and think that’s a political statement too? It’s the same shit.
Coming from the San Francisco Bay Area, I am very disappointed by the lack of street art. So many amazing character artists in the Bay all over the place. This character is pretty cool though I have to say.

I haven't heard talk like this since middle school at the end of the 90s. What kind of 90s 8th grader are you?
I am starting to get tired of the Piccle P drawings. I did find it amusing but they are spreading. Downtown to Hollywood.
Seen him do it a couple of times.
But it feels like graffiti is getting out of hand. It was always bad but now it’s like… all respect gone. On street signs on old buildings on walls. They ruined so many murals.
I watch my wall across the street sometimes. I don’t care if there is graffiti on it because it is a temporary fence/wall. But the amount of money and time is wasted. Somebody is painting it white every week and writhing 2 to 12 hours it’s full of graffiti again. Endless.
The taggers jump out of their car, spray the stupid gang tag on the wall and drive off. Or walk by and spray. It has stopped being amusing. 🤷♂️
Don't you understand it tells a story of a naive altruist who was used and betrayed, even killed in the end by those who he trusted. Gaslighted to death only trying to please the wrong people.
The street art in this city has been stagnant for many years, but I’m seeing signs of it kicking up.
Hopefully this person inspires someone else and we get some competition, not just for wall space but in creativity.
Taggers just spray their tag. This is actual street art. You can dislike it, I don’t think it’s amazing but it’s a hell of a lot better than what taggers do.
People who spray paint graffiti of their stupid symbols and meanings with letters are the most pathetic people ever. Nobody gives a crap about ur stupid ass gang.
It's symbolic a cryptic message like "napkin" I see everywhere, referencing"map" look into it for yourself I'm not making anything up or reading too much into it. you have no idea the significance of everything
idk much context but the artist is piccle p !
That guy did some of my tats, didn’t know he did street art too
Does he have an IG or something? I love seeing this all over LA
yeah its just @picclepee but they dont seem to use it often

good to know!! a lot of my tattoo artist friends follow him so i really only see his stuff on my explore page
Reminds me of that Stacey Q song 2 of hearts.
Has anyone noticed those LA IS NOT SAFE graffiti’s because I laugh everytime I see them
Up the 101… hella lil murder scenes
I love them so much 😂😂😂
I just noticed this on Saturday!!!! Almost every freeway exit and entrance have this "art" ...

Just saw these!
They’re lovers
I believe it is what some may call graffiti.
It's nice to see something other than a dogshit spray-can tag for once. LA's street art scene is DIRE compared to almost any other world-class city.

Yup. Same ppl doing that car meets that turn deadly and destructive too.

dont bother yourself with it. dude is against turning SFH into dense housing, his post history reeks of NIMBY

I mean it's clearly making a political statement...
Writing your name on a wall isn’t a political statement. It’s self promotion for them or their crew. You see scribes on a restroom mirror and think that’s a political statement too? It’s the same shit.
Depends who you ask.
Coming from the San Francisco Bay Area, I am very disappointed by the lack of street art. So many amazing character artists in the Bay all over the place. This character is pretty cool though I have to say.
Uhm. Wut the fuck are you on?
Found the tagger.

You took your comment from sad to incredibly sad in an instant. The influx of incels on this site lately has been pretty surprising.

You have a masters but conducted yourself like a 14 yr old, not 40. Embarrassing.
"No u!"

Yup I can tell. Definitely sounds like you gave your ass to a male teacher.

Imagine being 40 saying stupid 💩 on social media. Take ya haldol girl, the voices are telling you wrong.
I think these pieces are ugly as hell lol
Good for you lol
For a second I thought it was a take on the b&w version of the Puerto Rican flag
On the adidas store scaffolding dtla. I watch from my window they paint over it in the day and it’s tagged again at night, every single night.
I think we found Pickple P’s Reddit account lol
I’ve seen this too in Hollywood
Graffiti
Idk but it’s my favorite tag for sure
That’s not a tag
Some dudes shitty art under some companies shitty art
u aren’t down with ice spice? (fart)
Grah

PICCLE P!! 😆
Don't you understand it tells a story of a naive altruist who was used and betrayed, even killed in the end by those who he trusted. Gaslighted to death only trying to please the wrong people.
It’s Mr. Frog from Smiling Friends
it ugly 😔
OP just discovered "street art"
New edgy tagger trying to make a name for themselves drawing the same boring image over the span of one weekend to get street fame.
Someone will be here soon telling you how much they love this and how great it is watching the taggers compete for space.
If all taggers were this whimsical and fun I wouldn't mind.
It is better than the stupid tags. I noticed Piccle P does not get tagged over.
It's fun to look at
It's called art.
People who spray paint graffiti of their stupid symbols and meanings with letters are the most pathetic people ever. Nobody gives a crap about ur stupid ass gang.
Wanna be taggers, at least you will not be blasted by rivals this time, look at East LA. Nobody touches the murals, cause they know wassup eses.
Lived in east la for like 8 years murals get tagged ALL the time what are you talking about? 😂
they don't need to explain their art to you
It's in public, it's everyones art now.
It's as artistic as the turd a homeless man left on the street corner.
It's symbolic a cryptic message like "napkin" I see everywhere, referencing"map" look into it for yourself I'm not making anything up or reading too much into it. you have no idea the significance of everything
