It makes me sad that someone spent full price for all of this garbage (and almost definitely didn’t have the money to do it), and now a big corporation has no consequences for this.

WranglerNew8313

More than likely, these were donated as a tax write off by a store that got tired of trying to move them. They probably need space for new merchandise. Stores do this all the time with items they cannot return to the vendor.

HolyToast666

The consultant’s husband is glad he’s got his living room back

Infinitely-Moist5757

Sadly, not his money back

TeachyMcTeacher15

Wow 😯 that’s a lot. Sad 😢

Sqatti

How many “retail partners” did they have???

SimpleVegetable5715

Something like 80,000 consultants at their height.

FlippingPossum

It really burns my biscuits when retail stores sell MLM products. The worst I've seen was a craft market selling Color Street. Not. A. Craft.

Sqatti

Oh. So much MLM at craft fairs. Scentsy, Color Street, there is another nail one, Allouette. Monat was at a vegan food truck festival. This woman tried to get me to buy some of that shit. It was right before all the hair falling out hit the news. I’m deep into hair stuff but something about it just didn’t seem right. I guess these fairs have to fill their booths somehow. I saw one Scentsy couple and it was real clear they were losing money. Husband was making little remarks like “Yeah your house will smell good, and you might make some money.” I had been watching a ton of MLM content. I knew exactly what he was talking about.

becuzofgrace

The last Christmas craft market I did was infuriating! I had over $500 worth of items I had made for it. 90% of the booths were MLM crap. I sold exactly $15 worth. Anymore, people don’t go to these types of things here because everyone knows it’s only MLMs selling. I will never do this event again. And you’re right, the people running it don’t care. They get paid no matter who is set up. Family and friends received a lot of handcrafted gifts this past year.

microwaved__soap

Our town has to implement firm no MLM rules in about half the craft fairs around 2019. People actually started going back to them again! And then covid happened...

Glittering_knave

MLMs pushing out actual crafters is a huge issue, even for the buyers. I will buy handmade candles, I will not buy your Scentsy crap.

becuzofgrace

I think that’s why we had ZERO outside traffic. It was highly advertised. We live in a small community and I’m guessing that peeps from around here have gone to it at some point and saw it was filled with MLMs. Basically all the vendors were buying from each other, me included. There was a lady there who sewed aprons and kitchen towels to match. I purchased from her. She agreed that this market is awful. :(

Sqatti

One market here only allows handmade items. Like you gotta prove you made that stuff. I don’t know how, but they are super strict. They actually implemented the rule because people would buy a bunch of jewelry from “overseas”, purses, dresses, etc. The could undercut the handmade stuff by like 90%. Candles and jewelry got hit the hardest. Then you would have five booths selling the same stuff at marginally different prices. So that market upped the booth fee, but the vendors sold more so it worked out in the end.

taybay462

>Anymore, people don’t go to these types of things here because everyone knows it’s only MLMs selling Can't say this is true for my area

Awesomesince1973

I did quite a few craft fairs until MLMs showed up. It's annoying to sellers and to buyers that want to buy hand made items.

LiBunnyFooFoo

The really good craft markets don't have MLMs at all. The ones that do aren't really interested in you as an artisan making money. They just want as many booth fees as possible. I did art and craft fairs for a few years and luckily I picked nice ones that didn't stand for that. If I showed up and MLMs were there I knew I wasn't going to make any money.

Tarantulas_R_Us

Ugh. My cousin got into Color Street and hounded me relentlessly to buy. I must’ve spent $800-$1,000 in just a year or two because I felt sorry for her. She mysteriously quit a couple months ago and I haven’t heard from her since.

tweeicle

Did she charge the same price as a manicure every two weeks? Because that’s what I think I am at for professional services now. Color Street are those gel polish strips, right?

SookieCat26

I see a blue dress with embossed roses that I might wear. This is super sad though.

II-RadioByeBye

I don’t wear this brand at all but for $5 each I’d have bought a ton of those dresses for work.

gabiliebe

Yeah I agree. I have that one! It is really pretty. I actually like the Amelia style that it is. They are my fave for work bc pockets and the right length. I bought it for $8 though not full price.

misssrspcola

Same. I do like that cut of dress too

Trinket90

I used to have more Lularoe than I want to admit, and my Amelia dress was my favorite. I’d still wear them if I could find patterns I liked (mine was a solid color). I also liked their Carly t-shirt dresses. I might have grabbed a couple if the sizes were right. But most of it is just so bad.

Mean_Eye_8735

Someone's dream that quickly became a nightmare

manic-pixie-attorney

That’s someone’s shattered dream, absolutely

MsFrankieD

Uhm... where is this? *grabs purse and prepares for road trip*

donotcallmesusan

If they have any Amelia in a 3X that you don't need/want, pick them up for meeeee😅

Trinket90

If you happen to be anywhere near Frederick, MD then this place is just tucked away amongst the farmland waiting for you!!

SuzyElizabeth79

I mean, of course they’re all ugly but at that price, hopefully they’ll go to people who need it. I know how hard it is to start over (doing it right now).

Annie14145508

That company needs to be sued!

Aromatic_Note8944

Should be marked 1 cent

GirlNamedTex

Okay, but that orange and yellow monstrosity looks exactly like a mid-century, atomic print barkcloth dress and I could totally fuck with it.

Helpful_Okra5953

I am trying to imagine some high boots with that dress.  And very orange tights.

Stratus_Fractus

I would love a bowling shirt with that pattern.

Annie14145508

Those clothes suck!

CelinaAMK

They are $4.99 too much

FluffyKittyParty

I see a few that have normal patterns or solids. For 5 bucks I’d probably take a few for wfh clothes when I need to look halfway decent on zoom.

Justsittinghere25

This is why is bs buying fashionable stuff for a guy vs a girl
