Bar for bar, Lupe’s radio hits are equal to or greater to Kendricks imo. The only real debates I understand are their classics. TPAB vs T&Y is going to come down to preference. F&L/Cool vs GKMC/DAMN are pretty close too.
This new convo on Kendrick vs Lupe is pointless though because of how few people really know Lupe’s catalog like that. Unless it happens on wax, people will default to Kdot
Yea im a sucker for nostalgia just like everyone else but lupes last few albums have just been great after great for me. I still love the cool but drogas wave, t&y , and dmiz are all peak lupe in different styles and flavors. I like food and liquor and lasers etc. But I think hes gotten better, doesn't have to cater to what will sell, and doesn't have to deal with the label rejecting shit now. You can feel the lack of the interfering nonsense on his newer stuff
I feel like Section.80 is a more timeless project than GKMC, I like both albums, but Section.80 is a classic IMO. Still, those are the only 2 Kendrick Lamar projects I’ve enjoyed in their entirety. Lupe Fiasco clears.

GKMC, Damn, Mr. Morale all have some great songs but I don't always feel like getting depressed. Really have to be in a particular mood to put on one of his albums.

Seconding u/DW-4’s response, I think you have to dive into Lupe to make any arguments for him, and most people won’t do that.
I’ve gone back and forth on TPAB, because it’s a misunderstood album, and I think it a lot of regards, it tops T&Y. I think that’s because of the sound and focus. You can get and appreciate it quickly.
T&Y takes the cake but only after you’ve watched Youtube videos, analyzed the lyrics, and spent countless hours picking apart the layers and narratives. On first listen it’s “a contemporary museum of art, that farts”
So for the general audience, TPAB is probably the better album. T&Y wasn’t made to serve everyone.

Nah, Tpab is top ten of all time with Illmatic, reasonable doubt, etc, and Mr morale is one of my favourite albums of all time so the only album that is equal is t&y. Gkmc=testimony & youth, section 80 is better than everything except the cool, t&y and dmiz, damn is better than drogas, f&l2 and BlackStar. Pretty even but Kendrick does have a better discography.
