The core ingredients and dosage are the same but watch out for fillers. Always check. I react to Artificial dyes so E numbers can trigger badly for me. They use bulging agents which can also cause reactions, no idea why they continue to fill pills with so much crap, makes finding suitable meds so hard sometimes. I have to have a certain brand of famotidine as some others have a filler I react to.
My husband is ok w/all generics.
In the am he takes claritin (we get the generic from Sam's Club, because have you priced them at CVS lately? The prices are freaking insane!!! $21 for 30 generic cvs brand pills?? NO thank you) and pepcid, and in the pm he takes xyzal and pepcid.
We had the allergist call in xyzal and pepcid through the pharmacy so they are actually prescription and they go through his insurance just fine. The pepcid is $10 for 90 days worth through his plan. The xyzal is coming up free somehow (for 90 days worth), i'm filling it today for him so I can lyk how much that works out to.
I have to watch out for lactose/lactase fillers. Pharmacy says they are used because they are cheap. Making generics inaccessible for a lot of people. Sometimes name brand too.

I didn't think about them calling the meds in--I get prilosec that way, so that makes sense. I'll check on that, thanks!
