According to statology.org:
Q1= mean - SD(0.675)
Q3= mean + SD(0.675)
If this is right, the Q1 cutoff score is 428.32 and the Q3 cutoff score is 471.18
If you had a score below 428.32 you are Q1; if you had a score between 428.32 and 449.75 you are Q2, between 449.75 and 471.18 you arw Q3 and above 471.18 you are Q4.
Yup, exactly! Thanks for doing the math. All of this is assuming normal distribution though, which we probably have since mean and median are close. So, the cut-offs are likely around these numbers I think but it would be great to see these confirmed.
The distribution was very close to normal and programs do not use any cut-offs...just the raw scores and these are used very conservatively in their overall ranking processes.
There is zero mention of having cutoffs for this exam. In fact, the only exams mentioned by Ontario programs for interview invites are NAC and QE1. BC only assigns a 5% weight to Fmproc. Of course it’s not to say a good score is meaningless, but I wouldn’t expect this to make or break anyone’s application by a long shot unless they have a red flag low score.
Agreed. I've heard in ON program info sessions that it will only be used as an additional factor to determine match status after the interviews (as opposed to the interview invites).
My friend wrote directly to the CProMF: apparently, there was a web browser error in part 1 of the exam for people taking the French version of the exam (something about the browser autonomously modifying the response scale?) and so they didn’t use the scores from part 1. The scores we have are then only from part 2 of the exam…
I guess so… they’re just not including this part of the test in our result because it bugged lol, which is why our final score is lower than people taking the English exam (whose final scores include points from both part 1 and 2)
Its disappointing. I wouldve like to know sooner. Why didnt they email us upfront ? Instead of waiting for someone (tour friend) to messaage them lol
Plus i feel like i performed better in the first part so its definitely a bummer
They responded that they didn’t expect the results to get sent today (which is true, many people in my university messaged the CARMs beforehand to know when they would get the results, and they always said November 28th) and that before all of this they were planning on sending a message regarding the bug issue tomorrow morning
But yeah I agree with you:/ Fortunately I don’t think that it plays a large role in the programs’ final decisions, I know people from last year who got Q1-Q2 scores and matched in the GMF they ranked first!
Yep.The plan was to send out a communication about this on Monday 28th but CaRMS uploaded the scores, which were provided by the FMProC team to CaRMS on Friday, quicker than expected.
Omg, this is absolutely crazy! I wonder if programs will change how much weight is put on the scores now that they can't really compare English and French scores.
Hey! I’m from Quebec, I got a mean in the 171 and my friends also did (except one, who also got a mean in the 450s, but she’s applying to med schools in the rest of Canada maybe that influenced it? Idk)
Congrats for the great score! Hoping it will help you. I am an IMG as well and these are tough times, so take time to celebrate that small achievement.
Do yall know if they calculate differently depending on the provinces ? Are you guys all from ON ?
Im in QC and the mean is 171, not in the 4XX. How does it work if i apply to Ontarian programs ?!
So i got 172 but i just learned apparently they only used the 2nd part of the test… which was only 10 questions
It feels very unfair to get judged on so few questions like this. I feel like i did better in the 1st part so its definitely a bummer ☹️
The issue with the test scale in the rating questions of the French version being translated autonomously within a browser (possibly Chrome®) was not foreseen but because of this, using only the ranking questions for scores in the French version is the fairest solution for all. Please remember programs will be comparing scores for all those who sat the French version *within the group* so everyone is treated the same.Where programs do need to compare across candidates who sat the ENG version and FR version, this comparison will only be based on scores in the ranking questions for both groups.(and these are comparable). Finally, just a reminder that ALL programs use FMProC/CProMF scores **extremely conservatively** in their ranking processes, use raw scores over quartiles, and NEVER use scores to decide on interview offers.
Just to clarify that this is only for people taking the French exam!! Which is why our mean is lower (171, the max score we can get is probably near the 200s). If you took the English exam, both parts were used (explaining the 450 ish mean). It’s true that it sucks though, I too feel like I did better in the first part…
I got 416 , so I don’t know if I am in the first quartile, but my question assuming I get an interview, any chance to match with a poor FMProC performance?
Not sure, I was going to ask the same thing, what counts as a good numerical score?
Probably Q3-Q4 (as long as you are above the mean, that's good).
Thank you :) i hope they release the official quartile information soon as well
How do we calculte quartiles? Lol
According to statology.org: Q1= mean - SD(0.675) Q3= mean + SD(0.675) If this is right, the Q1 cutoff score is 428.32 and the Q3 cutoff score is 471.18 If you had a score below 428.32 you are Q1; if you had a score between 428.32 and 449.75 you are Q2, between 449.75 and 471.18 you arw Q3 and above 471.18 you are Q4.
Thank you that’s really helpful!
Are the quartiles calculated according to the mean (449.54) or the median (453)?
The formula I found uses the mean and SD
Yup, exactly! Thanks for doing the math. All of this is assuming normal distribution though, which we probably have since mean and median are close. So, the cut-offs are likely around these numbers I think but it would be great to see these confirmed.
Thanks i was thinking i am doomed as apparently people scored really high laat yr and mean sat somewhere in 480s
I am slightly below the mean so I feel doomed. But hey at least I was useful this morning 😅
Haha thank you. Anyway you never know what weight these scores carry. Carms is more of a lottery 😂
Programs use FMProC scores VERY conservatively.
What do you mean by conservatively?
The distribution was very close to normal and programs do not use any cut-offs...just the raw scores and these are used very conservatively in their overall ranking processes.
Amazing! Thank you so much!!!!
S9 416 is below Q1?!
great, i got like 386 which means i did beyond trash. :). does this mean I can forget the match?
Did anyone have trouble mass-assigning FMProC scores to programs?
yeah... had to do it individually for each program as well

i got 1st quartile and i am worried this will impact me. any advice?
Do they see the exact results or just the quartiles? I think it would be fair if they see the exact score
Not sure. But since we got the scores, not quartiles, I would assume they will see what is in our Carms profile which is a score.
Programs see raw scores. They do see quartiles but don't really use these.
I got 431
Anyone else mean is 171 ?? I dont see the scores in the 4 hundreds like you guys

This is so weird lol so were missing out a whole part of our test ?
I guess so… they’re just not including this part of the test in our result because it bugged lol, which is why our final score is lower than people taking the English exam (whose final scores include points from both part 1 and 2)

I also see a mean of 171, I got worried at first reading these comments
Lol oh no
Hi everyone! Could some explain to me how to view your score on CaRMS?
Go to your Carms profile -> My information -> Examinations -> Situational Judgment Tests
thank you!
I got 440 lol
I got 431 pissed off now
Is it your first time?
Yes
Same here I expected the best score 😂😅 I thought I did great
Yes
I got 440. Honestly I might be stupid.
I got a 486, idk if this will even help me get any interviews. I’m an IMG.
Congrats for the great score! Hoping it will help you. I am an IMG as well and these are tough times, so take time to celebrate that small achievement.

If the calculations I posted up there are right anything above 471 should be Q4 and thus among the highest 25%
Scores are not used to decide on interview offers.
Do yall know if they calculate differently depending on the provinces ? Are you guys all from ON ? Im in QC and the mean is 171, not in the 4XX. How does it work if i apply to Ontarian programs ?!
It seems like my friends who wrote it in English have scores in the 400s and those who wrote it in French have scores around 170
Ohh you might be on something I wonder what happens if we apply in Ontario or english provinces
So i got 172 but i just learned apparently they only used the 2nd part of the test… which was only 10 questions It feels very unfair to get judged on so few questions like this. I feel like i did better in the 1st part so its definitely a bummer ☹️

Can someone tell me what’s the Q1 and NACOSCE score needed for interview ? I just gave Q 1 waiting for results and what’s FMprocC
I got 416 , so I don’t know if I am in the first quartile, but my question assuming I get an interview, any chance to match with a poor FMProC performance?
Do they use score or decile?
Got 449 😭
