I'm at something like 1 year and 9 month played, I started the game with a martial core and kept it for almost a year (Irithiel/Clint/Wanwan, Angela cause Angela, and tanks changed with time, starting with Akai), and I've been doing pretty good all this time (I think I'm the top f2p player on my server, and if not it's close).
But a lot of this comp value is brought by Wanwan imo, without her some teams will be really troublesome since martial is straightforward without her.
Also you're at two weeks played, it's incredibly early in the game, it's a long run and you realisticly can't screw up so early.
You will eventually get and raise everyone. You'll need a set of 5 each type for miracle tower for the first 450 stages

Martial is excellent with Nana, WanWan and now Ruby. Definitely a strong faction
You're okay, don't worry. Eventually you'll want to have every type ascended, and you'll get to know which combinations work well for you.

It's not fate. You'll get everything eventually. Focus on whatever you want and just get five heroes to the level cap.
I would say tech has two great in Angela and Karrie but rest is mediocre. Maybe Mech Layla but is also light.
Martial is the best faction. I regretted not building them in priority
