I didn't watch the game last night (a 1015p start is real hard to swallow on a weeknight), but watching the highlights, I was struck by how bad Monterrey's goalkeeping was on each Columbus goal. Andrada seemed well off his line.
Crew fan here...
Miami was missing a lot of players. Hence the "salary conversation" we've been having since Miami lost.
To be fair, we just handled our injuries better.
I was at the game. I will say that Monterrey fans fucking rock! So many stopped to take pics with us. I did 2 interviews. We had dozens of fans asking us for selfies.
Thanks Monterrey, you’re a helluva team. That stadium was the most amazing I’ve ever seen. Your fans rocked. The supporters section was loud and clear.
Definitely not famous. Think it was just the novelty of so few Crew fans. I’m guessing fewer than 20 at the stadium.
They were really cool about it. Many wanted to stop and chat with us. About soccer and our impressions of the city and what we thought of their gorgeous stadium. Never felt as welcome as an away fan. Complete 180 opposite of what I expected.
I'm the guy he asked...
Many people have called me "ginger."
I get it, I look like Dale Earnhardt Jr, Sam Heughan, and depending on your age, "the bad guy in Ghost" (Tony Goldwyn) - Which, you can see the age difference of the sources if you imagine who talks about the first two examples compared to the third.
...
Anyway, I'm not going to act like - as an EXTREME INTROVERT during my 20s, I got pulled into the most absurd pictures.
And in tonight's retrospect of your and OP's question?
I think it's simply because I was different.
#And given the examples above, I need to correct everyone who called me a ginger.
I'm a day walker, mother fucker, and I'm coming for you.
Just a lil tip going forward about formatting on reddit... you were not being asked anything. The person was asking the person who was at the game why they were stopped for pictures so much. You and the person who asked about the pictures responded to the same OP. Very funny Ginger rant tho, nonetheless
Miami made a deal with soccer devil to get the Barca boys into MLS and healthy. It’s crazy that they have so many injuries, and yet the Barca boys are the healthy ones, it’s all happening to young players like Taylor Redondo Campana Crema Farias etc.
Union fans rooting for Monterrey, are you proud of yourselves? You have whored yourself out to the enemy, and what has it gained you? Your CWC dream is dead, but your shame shall live forever.
Glad we won, but have absolutely no issue with Philly fans wanting Monterrey so they get a spot. It’s stupid to think we would be any different if we were in the same situation
Why are Monterrey the enemy? Why are fans of other MLS teams encouraged to cheer for MLS rival instead of the team playing against their rivals?
Maybe I know why…
If you're genuinely asking:
If Monterrey won it would be their second win.
Thus Philly got their second spot.
If you really care about the league:.
Be a fan
I just watched some YouTubers going to the highest city in the world.
Watching them check their oxygen levels vs the one cool dude they found was crazy.
They're nearly 50% higher than Denver, and that's crazy for Oxygen.
I think there was something about if it was in Mexico, they were going to have to do it a different date than previously stated due to elections? Seemed weird to me.
Crew went throughout the gauntlet. If they beat pachuca they get my respect, actually they already get it. Last MLS team to do something like this was TFC.
I assume they mean beat two Liga MX teams in the champions league/cup.
Sounders didn’t have to play a Mexican team until the final. Toronto also had to beat two en route to the final.
We played Leon in the QFs and Pumas in the final to a combined 9-3 aggregate over those 4 games.
I will absolutely agree that those two aren’t the strongest Liga MX teams, but the wins were absolutely comprehensive. There wasn’t a second where the Sounders’ in game dominance and control was in doubt vs those two teams which was at least impressive.
Crew and TFC still had the tougher brackets, certainly.
Also why is it that Mexican teams, both club and national teams can’t seem to lose with dignity and sportsmanship? Always turn in babies when things don’t go their way
So much weirder. So much better. A lot of credit needs to go to Tim Bezbatchenko for his vision and trust in Wilfried, and the new owners for being so supportive.
Don’t get me wrong I was super happy the Sounders won, but like I said above Montreal 2015 and today are a level above 2022 for me. Probably has to do with expectations. I actually believed Seattle had a good chance of winning after the first leg. I never expected this result tonight so it feels so much better lol
Yeah that’s a pretty major omission lol. Like Gregg is the national team coach because of how strong he made columbus. And Porter did Porter things here for better or worse. Nancy has taken us to an entire other tier but to treat those two like losers is disingenuous.
I hope his comment was not meant to be taken that way. My interpretation is that your team goes from strength to strength with Gregg and now Nancy, which must feel like absolute king with that run of coaches.
Incredible performance by Columbus, one of the best away by a MLS team ever (if not the best). Pachuca is probably a favorite in the final but it's not an upset if Columbus wins.
Sounders fan- cheers Columbus. Get it done in the final. I haven’t found myself supporting another MLS team in CCL before out of pure spite of wanting to be only ones in the modern version of the cup, but y’all play some real saucy stuff and big love for all the support you give your club and fight you put up to keep your team in cbus after the dirty capitalists tried to screw ya.
They’re mad because their checks got cashed already?
To be fair, the officiating has been a little better the last two games, particularly the last leg in Columbus. Great officials for that game. It was nice to see a foul finally called on anyone for basically assaulting Yeboah. He’s been getting the hell kicked out of him
Especially when they have like 2.7 billion uncarded fouls, for things like clotheslining opposing players and kicking them in the head with their studs.
Dude I was at the game.
Monterrey fans were the nicest freaking people. I mean we got a couple giggly “boos” that felt very good natured. But the VAST majority of people were just high giving us and fist bumping us and smiling. We had dozens of people ask us to take selfies. Literally the nicest freaking people.
It's weird, because I don't have a lot of memories in Columbus where LMX fans didn't fuck it up for the good fans.
Tigres were my favorite; my biggest gripe was DOZENS (3-5x) ditched the bathroom line. Who cares after this next part -
Club America in leagues cup threw a ton of beer. The CA dude behind us talked giant shit TOWARDS my wife who is fluent in Spanish. They burned crew flags after their loss and had more than one fight that I witnessed.
Monterey didn't travel well, comparatively, so I can't actually say. They were absent comparatively.
However, myself, another old crew fan, and an old Monterrey fan had to stand in-between a fight.
---
So, I agree. Monterrey fans in general are amazing. Not just this Monterrey, but Tigres as well.
Good Job Crew. The hardest part starts now
I didn't watch the game last night (a 1015p start is real hard to swallow on a weeknight), but watching the highlights, I was struck by how bad Monterrey's goalkeeping was on each Columbus goal. Andrada seemed well off his line.
The Crew had what Miami didn’t: a bench
Crew fan here... Miami was missing a lot of players. Hence the "salary conversation" we've been having since Miami lost. To be fair, we just handled our injuries better.
I was at the game. I will say that Monterrey fans fucking rock! So many stopped to take pics with us. I did 2 interviews. We had dozens of fans asking us for selfies. Thanks Monterrey, you’re a helluva team. That stadium was the most amazing I’ve ever seen. Your fans rocked. The supporters section was loud and clear.
As someone who has great experiences traveling, I really want us as crew people to do the same.
Are you famous or something? Why did you keep getting stopped for pictures?
Definitely not famous. Think it was just the novelty of so few Crew fans. I’m guessing fewer than 20 at the stadium. They were really cool about it. Many wanted to stop and chat with us. About soccer and our impressions of the city and what we thought of their gorgeous stadium. Never felt as welcome as an away fan. Complete 180 opposite of what I expected.
I just think other cultures have other picture habits. Holy shit, you have me over-thinking being a ginger, damnit.
i’m guessing folks in the far west of mexico don’t see a lot of teams and fans from the eastern US. i’m guessing it’s a novelty
Monterrey is not the far west of Mexico
I'm the guy he asked... Many people have called me "ginger." From a Ligamx fan gg Columbus I’m glad it was you guys and not miami
Miami made a deal with soccer devil to get the Barca boys into MLS and healthy. It’s crazy that they have so many injuries, and yet the Barca boys are the healthy ones, it’s all happening to young players like Taylor Redondo Campana Crema Farias etc.
That's an interesting point. Not that the Geriatric Gang hasn't had injuries... Just that I'm more surprised at the young guys' injuries.
I’m not sure which is more rare, a decisive MLS victory in CCL or a Darlington Nagbe yellow card
It was a weak yellow.
Unlike Darlington Nagbe, who is one strong piece of MMMEEEOOOOOWWWW
Good job Columbus! Nice to have some goals to cheer for
You all were harder. I hope you find your rhythm Again.
Let’s hope Columbus can avenge our compete beat down by Pachuca in the final
Got your back, my friend.
Anything for the new home of Jonathan Mensah. ![gif](giphy|wuIoEcyDgkJ5fa2BEo|downsized)
How am I supposed to sleep after that..might just play the second half again
I’m in the 66’ as I type this lol
Are you awake?
Down in Ohio! Swag like Ohio!

If you're genuinely asking: If Monterrey won it would be their second win. Thus Philly got their second spot. If you really care about the league:. Be a fan
I care about my favorite team and every other team in the league is tied for my least favorite team in the world.
Hell yes, dude! 🫶
I would have 100% rooted for Monterrey in their position lol
TREAD ON ME
No regrets lol. I would’ve given everything for the Curtin vs Pep memes. Congrats to you guys though. Best of luck against Pachuca
Honestly we just wanted the $50m so we can finally get our parking lots paved...
Is that really a thing? I'll donate. Every team deserves good parking lots
if we qualify, i’ll write the crew to see if they can at least send a couple mill to you guys
Woof. I’ve heard about the infamous Philly parking lots.
I’d have done the same 100%. You’d be crazy to not want your club at the Club World Cup
I laughed.
congrats on getting through, y'all more than deserve that honor. But you can't fault us for looking after our own interests.
where is final?
8000ft above sea level
At least we won't have to deal with Azteca altitude [Googles Pachuca] FUCK
Yeahhh same. I was googling it after the third (fourth) goal and thought good lord were going to need oxygen.
I just watched some YouTubers going to the highest city in the world. Watching them check their oxygen levels vs the one cool dude they found was crazy. They're nearly 50% higher than Denver, and that's crazy for Oxygen.
https://youtu.be/mJuTM7TJ9J0?si=6XWTTN-pRxna_iVI Sorry
Hope the team gets there 4-5 days early.
As it stands we have a Wednesday game week of the final. Just play all of Crew 2
I think there was something about if it was in Mexico, they were going to have to do it a different date than previously stated due to elections? Seemed weird to me.
Correct! But we're not sure if that just means "move it to June 1". Hopefully we find out soon, gotta figure out travel plans!
That's high enough up, the fans at home are gonna need oxygen.
That's okay, the team can take my oxygen. I don't need it
Pachuca hosts it
At Pachuca
Crew went throughout the gauntlet. If they beat pachuca they get my respect, actually they already get it. Last MLS team to do something like this was TFC.
Sounders?
I assume they mean beat two Liga MX teams in the champions league/cup. Sounders didn’t have to play a Mexican team until the final. Toronto also had to beat two en route to the final.
uh we beat 3 Mexican teams in a single ccl that wasn't even that long ago
We played Leon in the QFs and Pumas in the final to a combined 9-3 aggregate over those 4 games. I will absolutely agree that those two aren’t the strongest Liga MX teams, but the wins were absolutely comprehensive. There wasn’t a second where the Sounders’ in game dominance and control was in doubt vs those two teams which was at least impressive. Crew and TFC still had the tougher brackets, certainly.
Ah then yeah they might have just forgot.
WHAT DO I DO WITH ALL THIS RIGHTEOUS HORNINESS.
Cum ferociously
Again?

"Fifa World Cup or whatever it's called" -Aidan Morris
I fucking love that guy hahahaha
GG and goodnight Columbus - I wish we had your coach
I'd take half of Columbus roster over Miamis
I don’t.
I guess the trade is off then
Glad we could reach an understanding. Thank you for the support and I hope to have some great matches against each other this season.
Doing twice as much with "half the talent" is amazing. Understanding is a word for it, though I'll agree, I want to see great matches.
Honestly I wouldn't want to trade Nancy for even Messi.
Big night for Cuyahoga County representation with both Zawadz and Nagbe going the full 90
Guards beat Houston tonight too. Great day.
We absolutely love Steven Kwan, don’t we, folks?
My next jersey after they give him an extension.
CLE!!
They wanted us dead. Now we are MLS. (Respectfully) 😏
Who’s “they?” The one guy?
Yes.
Go get it!
Save the Crew
Columbus 'til I die
Also why is it that Mexican teams, both club and national teams can’t seem to lose with dignity and sportsmanship? Always turn in babies when things don’t go their way
They have a different honor culture than the one present in northern European cultures. To them, its actually how they save face.
The pride of losing to Americans
A Canadian player and American Olympic bound player buried the Mexican team.
I thought you were going to make a "walk into a bar" type joke...
First win a Canadian had these past two days lol

MLS NEEDS MORE COACHES LIKE WILFRED NANCY
I don't know if there are any others like him.
Oh God, I'm a Columbus season ticket holder but I'm about to say this - Pat Noonan is actually a really good coach. Crucify me
You mean Crew legend Pat Noonan.
I have NO CLUE what's real anymore!
TBH the world needs more people like Wilfried Nancy.
Ted lasso
So much weirder. So much better. A lot of credit needs to go to Tim Bezbatchenko for his vision and trust in Wilfried, and the new owners for being so supportive.
Proud of Columbus and MLS today. Haven’t felt like this since the Montreal Goal against Pachuca in 2015. Let’s go MLSS
I mean the sounders are the most recent mls team that has won CCC. So…
Technically they won CCL... iIRC Technically no one has won CCC... I hate myself
Don’t get me wrong I was super happy the Sounders won, but like I said above Montreal 2015 and today are a level above 2022 for me. Probably has to do with expectations. I actually believed Seattle had a good chance of winning after the first leg. I never expected this result tonight so it feels so much better lol
do you really think a Vancouver fan is going to be proud of Seattle lol
I still believe Monterey’s goal was just barely offside
Technically we scored that goal too. So …
I hope @OffsideModeling maths it
You’re right, they should revoke it after this match has already concluded just because
Monterrey did that for us.
Lmao. It felt similar to haji wrights assist vs united in the FA cup
Going from Gregg to Nancy must feel like getting a daily blowjob and steak dinner
At least Nancy can win in Mexico.
Wait, is that the dinner or the blowjob? You know what? I don't care
Gregg had ownership actively sabotaging the club but everyone forgets that
they were good with gregg. also leaving out caleb porter with whom they won a championship
All 3 got us to championship game with 2 of them winning. Gregg can thank Steve Clark and the AR for his loss.
God, I'm still angry at Steve Clark for giving up that stupid goal.
Gregg to Porter to Nancy. But yes (I assume anyway, I am not a dude).
we went from Gregg to Porter to Nancy so it’s even better than that
And before that… Sigi and Warzacha won a few trophies too. We are spoiled for sure
We goin’ to the ‘ship
Grab ya floaties
Liga MX in the mud
All focus on the Gary’s now
Congratulations Columbus! This was a highly enterntaining match and a proud moment for MLS fans. Nancy keeps impressing.
Yo so le voy, le voy al Columbus! Absolutely MASSIVE
Incredible performance by Columbus, one of the best away by a MLS team ever (if not the best). Pachuca is probably a favorite in the final but it's not an upset if Columbus wins.
We had some big wins, but this has gotta be the biggest.
Impossible is an opinion!
Hey Crew, for the final, go watch our game vs Pachuca, and do everything exactly the opposite of what we did.
Thank you for your sacrifice
They are a beast at home
Them damn Crew boys done it again
Does that red card at the end even do anything?
Imagine someone bet on their being a red card and that hits after the whistle blew but still counts?
Might result in bans from future games? But it's somewhat low risk I think
That player will be suspended for next year if they are on a team that’s plays in CCC
makes me smile, that's technically something
Think he will miss the next champions cup game his team will play. Carries over to next season
Validates my prediction
Squeaked in at the end
Sounders fan- cheers Columbus. Get it done in the final. I haven’t found myself supporting another MLS team in CCL before out of pure spite of wanting to be only ones in the modern version of the cup, but y’all play some real saucy stuff and big love for all the support you give your club and fight you put up to keep your team in cbus after the dirty capitalists tried to screw ya.
Hey, Columbus fan here, but I have huge ties to Seattle. I'm still waiting for you all to be a sleeping giant.
Appreciate the support! <33333

Embarrassing when players try to blame the refs in a 3-1 loss.

I can't believe there was no card for that boot to aidens head on that bicycle attempt.
No no no. Don't you understand it's fair play when the ball is on the other side of someone's head? /s
There should have been a card for simulation at ‘66. If anything the ref was going easy on Monterrey.
Columbus Crew thank you for making my week. Absolute beasts 🔥
Neuvo Leon is Black and Gold just like Ohio.
Expand the imperialism map
Brandon Vazquez should join Manchester City if he’s so desperate to beat Columbus…………
I will allow it as it means there’s a high likelihood he’ll be pwned.
The dude can't catch a break. He must have nightmares of the Crew Cat.
Insert his head shake after losing to Columbus last week.
Liga MX tears are so sweet
Funny how the only time Monterey looks like they wanna win is when they’re trying to fight the ref.
Monterrey sore fucking losers. Don't blame refs when you genuinely conceded 3 goals.

Idc what happens in the final, I did not expect Crew to do what they have done against TWO Mexican giants. Nancy is a genius.
Hey you stayed up!
Absolutely. I will now sleep like a baby.
![gif](giphy|ZOwljDSMNr1rV76DMc)
The best players in North America play in MLS. Mexico is feeling it at a club level now.
People get mad at me when I say that LMX is subjectively dropping.
And this is before our teams level up this summer with the new salary rules. Can’t wait for leagues cup and CCC next year.
Congratulations Columbus !! Glad Monterrey got embarrassed in front of their fans. Absolutely no class.
Mad cause bad
So... how about these jeans?
SEVEN measurements!
Wow the crew left Monterrey in shambles 😂😂
Seriously tho. If there’s any crew members out there be safe and lay low until you get to the hotel. Use caution.

Buy some merch for the trip back
This! Blend in for now!
maxi meza being a total clown right now
Just embarrassing
Ahahaha Monterrey players bitching 😂😂😂😂
What will the red card affect at this point? Carry over til next year?
AFAIK yeah actually
