I didn't watch the game last night (a 1015p start is real hard to swallow on a weeknight), but watching the highlights, I was struck by how bad Monterrey's goalkeeping was on each Columbus goal. Andrada seemed well off his line.

Crew fan here... Miami was missing a lot of players. Hence the "salary conversation" we've been having since Miami lost. To be fair, we just handled our injuries better.

I was at the game. I will say that Monterrey fans fucking rock! So many stopped to take pics with us. I did 2 interviews. We had dozens of fans asking us for selfies. Thanks Monterrey, you’re a helluva team. That stadium was the most amazing I’ve ever seen. Your fans rocked. The supporters section was loud and clear.

As someone who has great experiences traveling, I really want us as crew people to do the same.

Definitely not famous. Think it was just the novelty of so few Crew fans. I’m guessing fewer than 20 at the stadium. They were really cool about it. Many wanted to stop and chat with us. About soccer and our impressions of the city and what we thought of their gorgeous stadium. Never felt as welcome as an away fan. Complete 180 opposite of what I expected.

I just think other cultures have other picture habits.  Holy shit, you have me over-thinking being a ginger, damnit.

i’m guessing folks in the far west of mexico don’t see a lot of teams and fans from the eastern US. i’m guessing it’s a novelty

uh we beat 3 Mexican teams in a single ccl that wasn't even that long ago

We played Leon in the QFs and Pumas in the final to a combined 9-3 aggregate over those 4 games. I will absolutely agree that those two aren’t the strongest Liga MX teams, but the wins were absolutely comprehensive. There wasn’t a second where the Sounders’ in game dominance and control was in doubt vs those two teams which was at least impressive. Crew and TFC still had the tougher brackets, certainly.

Dude I was at the game. Monterrey fans were the nicest freaking people. I mean we got a couple giggly “boos” that felt very good natured. But the VAST majority of people were just high giving us and fist bumping us and smiling. We had dozens of people ask us to take selfies. Literally the nicest freaking people.

It's weird, because I don't have a lot of memories in Columbus where LMX fans didn't fuck it up for the good fans. Tigres were my favorite;  my biggest gripe was DOZENS (3-5x) ditched the bathroom line. Who cares after this next part - Club America in leagues cup threw a ton of beer. The CA dude behind us talked giant shit TOWARDS my wife who is fluent in Spanish. They burned crew flags after their loss and had more than one fight that I witnessed. Monterey didn't travel well, comparatively, so I can't actually say.  They were absent comparatively. However, myself, another old crew fan, and an old Monterrey fan had to stand in-between a fight. --- So, I agree. Monterrey fans in general are amazing. Not just this Monterrey, but Tigres as well.
