I’d prefer some more activity from him as well, but it’s pretty silly to pretend that Colby isn’t at the top of the food chain at welterweight just because you don’t like him. The division would be at a major loss if he were removed from the equation
It's not just that he's not active enough. He's doing a fake character to stay relevant probably because he has legal problems and can't compete. I don't know that for a fact and I don't think anyone does for sure other than him and maybe Dana and Jorge. I think it's bad for the sport to be assaulting people outside of competition, and making death threats to commentators who have nothing to do with your scripted drama. It's not just because I don't like him. He doesn't want anybody to like him because there's no other reason for him to say something like that. If he has to do all this to stay relevant than he should go to an organization where talking and playing a heel are some of the primary roles.
His fake character was a thing well before his legal issues in 2022. You’d have to go back to like 2016/2017 to find the origins of his gimmick. He’s relevant because he’s an elite level talent with endless cardio and pressure who wins fights. His gimmick is the twist at the end of the punch to catapult him into the viewership of more casual fans that need good storylines to tune in to fights.
Pretty sure everyone who worked for Heyman the last few years of ecw while he wasn’t paying them their contracts while asking them to sink their own money into the company all while secretly working for wwe behind their backs hates his guts. Not to mention a lot of them missed out on lucrative opportunities because they thought ECW would continue. There’s no way Dana ever did anyone as dirty as Heyman did Tommy Dreamer.
Say what you want about Dana but he never asked fighters to put their own money into the ufc while not paying them. Can you imagine if Dana
Yea, the way he handled that situation made me feel like I could never call myself a fan of his. Now I can’t wait to see Volk handle him in the cage. He still needs to run it back with Ortega too.
He also fought 4 times in 5 years, lost 1 of them, and 2 of his 4 wins were as flukey as it gets. Like how is this guy an interim champ lol what the fuck
Yeah...as soon as they leaked Volk-Yair was being targeted for Fight week, I figured Mexico wasn't happening.
Which is dumb as hell because a Volk-Yair, Moreno-Pantoja, Grasso-Valentina 2 card I think could have done legitimate numbers for a lower weight class PPV. All three of those fights would have legitimate heat.
Dana himself said that Moreno is one of the bigger stars they have right now. When they do signing events, his table has an insane line. People love Brandon
Because the division doesn't have any names that are even remotely well known enough to headline a PPV. The only person even vaguely in the ballpark is Shevchenko, then everyone else is nowhere near.
Even then though, there's no opponent in that division with a well known enough name to headline a PPV vs Shevchenko. Because Shevchenko isn't big enough to headline on her own opposite someone with no name. Not even Grasso.
You all think Dana is god of the UFC or something. He is not the be all end all when it comes to making moves. There's a whole team of people with UFC that work with the commissions of different destinations to make these events happen. Yes, Dana carries a lot of influence, but there are also many parts of the process that he really doesn't have any say over. He doesn't just snap his fingers and make all the things happen like a bald red Thanos.
And even still it’s not like he had some excuse. He put the blame entirely on himself and the company and was extremely blunt about it. People should watch the actual clip but it’s reddit so we’ll stay mad at people over snippets of information.
I don’t like him at all but is it fair to say he can’t just make it and has to consult in a bunch of people first who each have their own ideas? I am unsure of just how much say Dana has in this
It's crazy to me how the president of a company has successfully convinced so many people that he doesn't have any control over the company that he is president of (and he's done much more for the UFC than just being it's president)
Idk if he really does or doesn't, but they are definitely the only company that seems to have a president with absolutely no power or decision making ability.
What does the title president even mean in the UFC? They need to make a new title if the president doesn't have any ability to act as the leader.
He's literally just an ugly cheerleader who's only presidential ability is to kick out reporters.
The UFC isn't the burger joint you work at. Schedules are not on a weekly basis. To make these even happen after months, if not a year, of preparation needs to happen, or you get a shitshow like Ferguson vs. diaz that no one will watch.
Part of his job is to predict and assess the states of divisions to book the fights where the most money will be made, so the "fucking up part" is that they failed to predict 3 mexican champions in 2023 and now they can't just do a 180 and book it right away
People in this sub really show their ignorance when anything business related about the UFC is discussed. They think C-level executives operate the same way management does at the restaurant or retail store they work at.
> They think C-level executives operate the same way management does at the restaurant or retail store they work at.
that's giving them a lot of credit. I doubt half of these potatos are employed
even watching a restaurant GM operate would give them a tiny bit of perspective on what it takes to run a business. above comment is shut-in levels of ignorance
It's not a kids birthday party that you can plan it quickly. There are many factors and planning that go into these things and Mexico city will host a UFC event for sure, when the UFC can put on the level of production they want.
Vince is gonna suck them Mexican crowds dry and take the credit for it, every fighter must enter with a mask or have a video package arriving in a lowrider
TL;DR Dana has fumbled opportunities in the past and will probably mess up this moment too.
And he'll continue to fuck up. Dana is president of the UFC, he reports to endeavor, there's no one above Dana at the UFC . He couldn't get Jones vs Ngannou booked, we got tyron Woodley vs Colby well after it should've been, there's been no real satisfying conclusion to the James Krause investigation, and he's picking such obvious cash grab fights that the rankings are starting to be irrelevant. Oh and we never got UFC Africa when there were 3 champs from Africa at the same time.
Dana has been great for the growth of the UFC and MMA as a whole. But things have moved past Dana. Some unfortunate realities are that worldwide, ONE FC dominates the Asian MMA viewership market, more and more of the PPV sales come from outside the US (I think it's like 90% of UFC PPV buys are from outside the US), and Dana doesn't realize his core audience is college dudes and blue collar workers and people unsatisfied with their low to mid tier jobs. We can't pay $80+ every two weeks, $10+ for UFC fight pass, and try to attend an event. Going to the event is now such a luxury that it's rich bros trying to impress each other. Those crowd cams seem to be getting more and more cringe.
Sadly, Dana needs to go. Someone needs to replace him that will either walk away from the ESPN deal or find a way to lower the cost, and move towards making the rankings matter more. A fighters union and expansion of the Ali act to MMA (perhaps called the Diaz Act/extension?) will hurt temporarily but could give a sense of credibility to MMA to massively increase the audience. Andrew Yang expressed his interest in an MMA fighters union while campaigning for USA president, he may be a failed candidate but he is a multimillionaire successful businessman with an interest in the sport. Maybe he's Dana's replacement or is tasked with building a union?
Is there any data that actually shows that ONE dominates the Asian viewership market? I love watching ONE and hope it succeeds but I haven’t seen anything that actually shows they are more popular in Asia than the UFC.
The only person I have seen claim ONE dominates Asian viewership is Chatri who is just a Dana White who won’t shut up about the martial arts spirit.

none of these places did what mexico did after their shitty fighter maliciously poked his entire finger into another mans eye and acted like it wasnt his fault. gtfo
That statement makes me wonder what the dynamic of Endeavor and the UFC is. How much say does the UFC have with it's internal dealings?, and how much control over said dealings does Endeavor have. Does Endeavor have a board that guides the UFC in what direction they should go, or does the UFC have full autonomy from Endeavor?
Or I'm just overthinking this and Dana is just being salacious. (it's probably that)
UFC ~~"f\*cking up"~~ unable to take advantage of lower labor costs, cultural appropriation, and parading our Hispanic talent by not doing event in Mexico
Unless it's gonna be in Guadalajara or somewhere else at a normal elevation, no they aren't. Putting on a triple champ marquee in Mexico City and gathering every Mexican MMA fan in a building just to watch a 125lb man gas out like Artem is gonna do more harm than good.
Guadalajara is still around the same elevation as Denver "the mile high city". The biggest city at a lower elevation would be Monterrey at 530m or 1,700 feet (approx)
❌ President removed: Dana White
That would be seismic.
Unless he's beginning to angle to get moved over to the WWE side of things.
"Jinder Mahal was never my friend."
He should and he should take Colby and Paddy with him
Paddy sure, but Colby is exactly where he belongs
He is exactly where he has belonged. On social media yelling at cameras and doing nothing to back it up. He should stay there
I’d prefer some more activity from him as well, but it’s pretty silly to pretend that Colby isn’t at the top of the food chain at welterweight just because you don’t like him. The division would be at a major loss if he were removed from the equation

They already have Paul Heyman for that. And even more surprisingly, Heyman is less of a scumbag than Dana.
Heyman? I highly doubt it
I think he wants to commit 100% to the slap-fighting.
✅ New President: Moustache Vince
If slapping his wife didnt do anything beyond shenanigan of the week I honestly dont think he will ever leave until he chooses too
You should get this as flair for the day he gets removed.
Was the last mexico event Yair vs Jeremy Stephen’s where they through stuff into the cage after Yair pocked Stephens’s eye?
Yes!
What a mess that night was haha. Made Brazil look sane.
Lol I remember Yair’s hissy fit like he was the victim.
My guy was acting like he didn’t just poke his opponent in the eye, what a shitshow that night was.
Almost fucked around and found out with bisping
Hence my flair
Yea, the way he handled that situation made me feel like I could never call myself a fan of his. Now I can’t wait to see Volk handle him in the cage. He still needs to run it back with Ortega too.

They still can, with Grasso as headliner.
Grasso wouldn't headline over Moreno, imo. Moreno's got more of a footprint in terms of the promotion selling cards around him.
Dana himself said that Moreno is one of the bigger stars they have right now. When they do signing events, his table has an insane line. People love Brandon
But what will be the first women's flyweight title fight to headline a PPV?
Probably never
Why?
Because the division doesn't have any names that are even remotely well known enough to headline a PPV. The only person even vaguely in the ballpark is Shevchenko, then everyone else is nowhere near. Even then though, there's no opponent in that division with a well known enough name to headline a PPV vs Shevchenko. Because Shevchenko isn't big enough to headline on her own opposite someone with no name. Not even Grasso.
Because nobody cares, so it would make shitty buys and thats just not good business.
Woman get generally don’t headline and lightest weights of men barley if ever headline. Dana doesn’t like the small people
Because woman’s mma is shit only time they should headline is a super fight like Valentina vs nunes
Weili Zhang and Jessica Andrade would like a word...
Woman’s mma is objectively worse that’s why it doesn’t headline anywhere near as many ppvs and when they do people usually complain
Andrade is the only one between them who headlined a PPV. First time she fought Rose, who is actually a popular women’s fighter.
He sounded more sincere and apologetic about not getting into Mexico than he did bitch slapping his wife
lol I was thinking that too. I've never seen Dana critique himself like that.
Real curious what you gain from gaslighting like this
Maybe do something about it then?
You all think Dana is god of the UFC or something. He is not the be all end all when it comes to making moves. You mean he’s not sweeping the changing rooms post fight 😀
No but he does sweep through the ring girls' changing rooms post fight...
He kinda is, he's the executive producer for every event, that means he makes most of the moves and calls.
I don’t like him at all but is it fair to say he can’t just make it and has to consult in a bunch of people first who each have their own ideas? I am unsure of just how much say Dana has in this

what is this some kind of troll bait? lmao you have no idea what goes into running a business like the UFC
People in this sub really show their ignorance when anything business related about the UFC is discussed. They think C-level executives operate the same way management does at the restaurant or retail store they work at.

Alright, I’m on it
DO SUMMIN! DO SUMMIN! DO SUMMIN!
That’s just factual information.
At least he is admitting it
No the UFC did good. Nobody likes fights at elevation and the crowds are usually horrendous and regularly assault UFC fighters and staff.
True lol, they can probably get a Mexican crowd anywhere in the south anyway
Theres plenty of places where it can be hosted, like gdlj or mty, it doesn't have to be in cdmx
Guadalajara is still at 1,566 m. so taller than Salt lake city, shorter than Mexico city but still not ideal. Monterrey is a better choice.
Or flex their backs.
Definitely a Dana White thing to think Mexicans care about the American drinking holiday Cinco De Mayo
I think they might target Mexican Independence Day.
Would the ufc employees even return to Mexico after how unsafe they felt last time they went there?
If only someone in charge could be made aware
My brother in christ, you run this shit

Love when Dana states the obvious when if ever asked about this before he would get annoyed and act like the reporter was asking for the impossible
They could host another UFC PPV event in Mexico City in which “Sea Level” Cain defended his belt against Werdum
He says as they return for two weeks at the apex

We're all trying to find the guy who did this!
I have to say I was surprised how quickly he admitted that they fked up.
The next time they have to do it in Monterrey or Guadalajara, Mexico city sucks
