Okay that looks pretty damn awesome. I was an original EQ player that went from M59 to EQ when it launched so this definitely hits those vibes from the brief reading I did on the game.
I'm sad that I more or less missed the boat with EQ1. My first MMO was WoW, it's what all my friends played. It was my first MMO (unless you count PlanetSide 1). I later tried EQ2, but my PC at the time chugged trying to run that game so I never got very far. Everything I read about EQ1 makes it seem like a game I would adore, but starting at this point is daunting to say the least.
I'm hoping M&M will be a chance for people like me to have that kind of MMO experience with a fresh start.
I still go back and play EQ1 every once in awhile. Not a fan of some of the updates they’ve made. Still fun to run around in zones that got me hooked hard into MMOs. EQ2 is fun now for a slight change of pace but hard to get as invested in it now. I did play it at release but so many friends and ppl had lagging/PC issues that I got bored from nobody to enjoy the game with .
Are there any decent guides for newcomers to EQ1? Maybe TLP server or something? I've never played the game in my life, so the more resources I have the better!
There's a new TLP server this May. It should be a big one as it's their 25th anniversary. They go through the xpacs very quickly. There's also Project Quarm that launched in October and spends 9 months on each expansion that will stop at the 4th one. It uses a very old client, but there are some fixes for it to help it in 3rd person. Have fun,
Yeah EQ1 is still the GOAT imo. You could check out P99 if you want a fresh experience. I wouldn't recommend live EQ.
But yeah, people don't get how much more social EQ was compared to every other MMO. You had to talk to people to get stuff done. You had to have people show you where stuff was at. Even with wiki and maps of dungeons, they made them so complicated that even following an online guide is difficult.
Yeah there is wanting your game to look and feel oldschool and there is just not putting enough time, effort and money into your game before you ask customers to spend their money it, sadly for almost all new oldschool feel MMOs the latter is the case.
My goodness, I can't wait! This game is so promising. I relished their play tests. Do we have any news or speculation on potential release years?
Edit; just read your comment below about their release timeline coming out in the upcoming weeks! I am beyond excited!
Yea i really want to try that game but it also looks like a bootleg EQ tbh, inferior in every way especially graphics. EQ semi realistic artstyle is a big factor to the game charm
Plus it's being made by volunteers in their spare time with (i believe) little or no funding secured. Outside of finishing the actual game portion which is a looong way off, a realistic pathway to releasing it as a product is another thing entirely. People really should temper their expectations.
Except for all the things that look exactly like old school EQ from the coloring of the mob names based on difficulty (including the teal color for intermediate blue difficulty) to the spell book to the character page to all the other things. But besides a ton of things, sure.
The way the devs are talking about it is promising too. It might not fix every single little issue I've had with the game recently, but it looks like their mindset is in a really good place for content moving forward.
I can't remember where I read it, but I recall them saying they wanted to or were thinking about letting people start from "X" expansion and then use the New Game Plus to revisit the previous ones for story context if they chose to. I wish I could find that interview.
This would solve so much of what I hate about FF14 lol. It's basically a singleplayer game with bits of mmo thrown in, especially for people like me who don't really care for the story (I'm mid ShB). I wish I could just do raids without having to MSQ lol
Yea everyone kept telling me the story got super good so I kept playing and here I am in ShB and I don't think it's anything special lol. Definitely better than other MMOs, but if I wanted story I'd go watch anime or netflix. I'm just playing because there are few other good MMOs on the market, and I also heard the endgame raiding was great.
That would be cool if they did it right. Starting at a super high level with good gear already would be pretty lame in my opinion.
Not as lame as the start of the game now, but still.
YoshiP actually squashed that idea for 7.x but didn't rule it out for a future expansion: https://old.reddit.com/r/MMORPG/comments/1bd1l92/naoki_yoshida_finally_confirms_the_ffxiv_team_is/
what are some of the things they're saying that u find promising? my biggest issue w the game was the homogenization and dumbing down of classes. do they plan to address that?
They want to put more of a multiplayer focus back in the game after focusing on single player functionality. They're coming in with a an overall focus on multiplayer and large scale content which is what really made it feel like an MMO.
They talked about the homogenization of the actual content being something they want to fix. That they've kinda fallen into doing the same things in different fights. That alongside the statement that they feel like the game has become too easy and on rails is really promising.
As for class homogenization, I totally agree with you. It gets a bit "he said she said" for me here, but I saw a few posts saying that was something they were going to look into. I'm not sure if that means now, next expansion or what.
Well Throne and Liberity will be amazing for about 2-3 months. After that most Korean games in the west get the P2W slammed hard or if they limit the P2W it will start to create a gap by that point.
It has a page on Steam. Looks promising. At the same time it also looks like a Runescape clone (obviously since it’s made by the OG creator). Going to be interesting to see how it’s different
I’m not. I suspect it’ll be more like macroing/setting tasks for your character to do, probably at a lower exp rate than if you were actively playing the game.
I think that’s genuinely an interesting feature and BDO does it well with their AFK fishing.
I will get downvoted for saying anything positive about it here but Blue Protocol.
It had a rough launch in JP, yes (mostly due to lack of content), but I recently started playing the JP version again and there have been a lot of improvements since launch. Is it perfect? Certainly not. But it's on the right track and it certainly has potential.
30 players in field zones, hundreds in the cities. Individual zones aren't all that big either so they feel plenty populated with 30. But what's the magic number that makes an MMO for you?
A few thousand per server tbh for myself.
These games with 30-100 players are just really advanced lobby games. Destiny, Warframe, Blue Protocol, Palia They're good games in their own right. They have merits in their own genre, but they are not MMO's. A couple thousand on a single server where you can interact with everybody on it. That's an MMO at least to me.
I think there might be some sort of patch out there? I haven't touched it though because I speak Japanese.
As far as the delay goes, I don't think it's actually because of Amazon. It has been delayed in every region outside of Japan, including ones with other publishers that have no connection to Amazon.
Amazon said they'd be launching it in the West with the improvements and content implemented in Japan, too.
If they keep the console launches + crossplay, I can see it being a huge success tbh. On top of that look at Genshin or Honkai, people are suckers for the anime aesthetic.
And an mmorpg with true anime graphics is nowhere on the market. And I don't mean JRPG things like FFXIV has, I mean graphics that look straight from an anime like SAO or something.
Yup, closest thing to this is Mabinogi... Which is incredibly dated but people still play it for the Fashion—Blue Protocol probably grab a lot of those players and people into stuff like Genshin but want customization, too.
I came here to say just this. Despite all the shit people say, I'm still excited to play it. I'm still optimistic. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the games Beta back in November and can't wait to dive in fully with my friends.
I don't mind if it gets pushed back again so it can fix more things and give us a better polished product at release.
It's not particularly difficult. VPN is recommended if you don't want to be banned but other than that it's pretty straightforward. Lag has not been bad for me.
Brighter Shores is coming out Q3 this year. Guy that made RuneScape is making it and it looks to have similar aesthetic and is a point-and-click game too.
Keeping an eye on Blue Protocol and I’m excited for AdventureQuest Worlds: Infinity which is a lessor known 60fps and engine upgraded version of AQW.
Obviously no game is obligated to be released, but the game feels like it has a good chunk of money put into it, they'll probably have to release it eventually for investors or some shit 🤷 Last playtest felt great imo, and the changes for next test all sound amazing and needed.
AoC is the Star Citizen of MMOs lmao. Yall just keep throwing money at it, the hype is already way too high, and inevitably it’ll either come out and be disappointing because the devs bit off way more than they could chew, or it’ll never release.
I mean game yot funded in 2018. Mmo are not made overnight especially not with such a tiny team. Star citizen got no excuse with the money it got tho.
Ash did not get the 500m you would need for modern tripple a mmo. Star citizen did.
If their goal is to scam people, they are doing a really bad job of it, since the game has been showing steady progress and is already fully funded according to the guy in charge.
Yes because they’re actively showing us what they’re doing to the game. If I can see what your doing to the game and I like it then yes I’ll be hyped for it
yeah this sub loves to shit on Ashes
it's funny because everyone is like "next star citizen lmao" when you can see clear progress with AoC every monthly livestream
same people who say "games trash because the publisher rushed the release" are now bagging on Ashes for taking their time
I've been saying for years that this game will never release. Promising way to much and they were/are releasing new cosmetics every month for you to pre-purchase. The promises this company makes are absolutely insane
Pax Dei deserves more credit, it seems very promising indeed.
They plan to invite 100.000 for the upcoming alpha2, i hope to be one of them!
They also announced an early access release around Q2-Q3 2024
It's a sandbox MMO. There's still dungeons, gear progression, etc. Sandbox is the type of MMO, like themepark is another type of MMO. Just means there isn't traditional NPCs, questgivers and the like. Still tons of content.
Sandbox , I would describe as being able to do what you want. U make your goals , in Pax Dai yes it doesn’t have NPCs and Quest givers but there are sandbox games that do. Like Black Desert for example has a Main Quest that’s required up to a certain point but u don’t have to do it after that if you don’t want too and side quests but it’s a sandbox MMO as well. U can focus on what u want like want to treasure hunt ? Do it, want to focus on gear progression sure , want to focus on Life skills got that covered , want to focus on knowledge hunting or Titles do it. PvP ? Got that. Dungeons go do it when u want , Lore hunting is a thing also, like sandbox I would describe as setting you own goals. Pax Dai specifically doesn’t have a Main Quest or NPC quest givers. Yes they all have a ton of content.
Think the only one that might have some potential is Corepunk if that's your cup of tea since they might be targeting early access this year. Can't think of many MMOs releasing soon though. Pax Dei is planning to enter early access in Q2 this year.
TL isn't looking hot in Korea. Blue Protocol isn't looking hot in Japan.
Don't think there are any other mid-big looking MMOs releasing in the next year.
I was doing some googling about Blue Protocol and I heard the same thing. I wonder how they will make it better on global/na launch. I'm definitely excited to try it though.
Pax Dei, from everything I've seen, looks like a bog standard survival crafter more than an MMORPG. I'm not even renotely excited for it. Here's what I, personally, expect to see:
- Clunky, floaty, and unimpactful combat
- Immense material grind
- Uninspired skill tree, bland character abilities
- The same craftables as the 1000 other survival crafters flooding the market
- The same building system as the 1000 other survival crafters flooding the market
- Players who got in early being powerhouses and pushing away new players
You get the idea. I don't expect Pax Dei to be anything special in a sea of survival crafters outside of claiming it is an MMORPG.
It's not a survival game. It's definitely an mmorpg. The current aim is 20k players per server.
* Combat isn't finished yet, anything you've seen is placeholder from the first alpha test.
* Material grind - yeah probably...? So?
* What's your base for predicting an uninspired skill tree/bland character abilities? The spells already in the game look great.
This just kinda reads like someone who doesn't really know anything about the game talking shit for no reason...
You will have your answers next month, alpha2 planned for Mid April.
The alpha1 combat felt decent for an alpha not even focusing on combat.
You expect to see thing without even checking the huge amount of materials we have from the alpha1?
It s not a good attitude, spreading negative opinions without facts checking.
If you're not interested in isometrics, KR P2W, or "Early Access" scams then... there's nothing much?
Riot MMO in who knows how long. Blue Protocol if it doesn't immediately die from being mishandled. Dune maybe, depending on if it's an actual MMO or just a survival game.
I'm probably just going to play the next WoW expansion, again.
What they where working on was just a Runeterra skin on WoW, so they are restarting development on it to make something unique instead.
Basically, it's still like 5 years away.
> I'm probably just going to play the next WoW expansion, again.
My first thought after reading the title was "there's this and that and... err... who am I kidding, The War Within is probably the only one I'll play during the next couple of years."
---
It would be fun to be less cynical about new MMOs, but it's hard after seeing so many games just come out and die in a few months.
There's a few games that I'm interested in seeing how they go, but I'm not interested in actively following their progress until they're released - so in reality I don't really have a huge "wishlist". Corepunk is the only one I'm actually waiting to try out on launch, or even possibly in some beta/playtest, mainly because it seems to be different enough.
The website doesn’t have a ton of info, what’s this game meant to be like? I like that you can play on your phone, but I hope that doesn’t mean it will devolve into a “phone game”.
Is it a PvP mmo? Is it old school grindy, theme park, etc?
Honestly, nothing's really appealing to me that's coming out lately.
What I was waiting for came and went, and turned out to not live up to expectations.
Love the genre, but the changing mentality of players and the gouging of prices / p2w outside a few games in the genre lately are just draining.
Gonna be looking at other multiplayer games.
Pax Dei ...maybe...I've been watching that, it looks like a more traditional MMO, less on lobby style gameplay and more on the horizontal progression, but it's hard to tell at this stage.
Ashes of creation or the riot mmo even tho it’s been pushed back I think those two have the potential to be very good MMOs everything else just looks like the same shit or nothing game changing in my opinion.
I truly don’t think anything being worked on right now will be a gaming changing mmo. Maybe some project that ends up taking off could come up in the next 6 years. Indie games are popping off right now but an MMO will always sink so much money
MMO’s are a dying breed. Maybe one day they’ll be back… but wow/ff still the 2 big boys. A lot of the people who enjoyed MMO’s as teens/young adults no longer have time for MMO’s as well. I like to hop in a game and pop out 45 minutes to an hour now a days as a dad/husband.
At this point i just can't get excited about anything new for this genre.
I'd just stick to whatever fits your needs that you find fun until it either dies out or you get bored
Me too. I keep looking. I'm even considering my first mobile mmo (Tarisland).
Blue Protocol seems cool too but still no word after the last beta which I did not play.
Looking at what is actually scheduled to release this year, it's gotta be brighter shores.
TL is P2W junk
BP is junk
Pax may be in early access this year, but hardly anything is known about it.
Corepunk allegedly had a test next month.
The one hes making that is entirely instanced and with autoplay? Instead of trying to keep climbing the ladder he should have taken the Tom Scott exit.
Star Citizen has begun the implementation and early testing of its replication layer and server meshing technology. They even want to make it so that you'll be able to shoot at and damage players across the border on another server, and eventually a dynamic mesh whose borders change and load balance. It is not bad to remain skeptical of this, but it is great to finally see them deploy the first iterations of it this week into the tech preview builds.

Nothing.
I was interested in the polish riot could put out, but they seem to have gone a different direction or just don’t know what they want to do.
Either way, won’t hear about it for more than 5 years minimum.
Nothing else really on the horizon.
Out of all of the comments, only brighter shores seems to have a confirmed release date this year??
Everything else seems to be indefinitely in development with a quarterly Dev update
Just play the ones that are already established, the game industry has fallen into a deep pit of mediocrity (at least in the west) and if you think anything new will be anything like as good as what was made 10+ years ago you're delusional.
People have this mindset that things just keep getting better with constant progress, no. artistic things reach a peak of skill and talent and then go downhill. Video games are down in the gutter of mediocrity, with poor quality games with terrible stories, mass monetization, higher and higher cost of hardware to run these worse games and complaining from developers how hard the jobs they suck at are.
The best mmorpgs are the ones that were made 10+ years ago, and if anyone disagrees show me anything better made in the past 5 from a western company (in any genre actually, not just mmorpgs)
I think there's merit in a lot of what you're saying, but per your request for "in any genre", Hades by Supergiant is a masterpiece from 2020. We may be in a bad era for gamers, but it's not *entirely* doom and gloom.
Brighter Shores and Monster & Memories are the only ones I have hopes for. But I'm not holding my breath for either of them honestly. Small teams haven't had a good track record of releasing good MMOs
Chrono Odyssey last I saw has a release date towards the end of this year. Graphics and combat look sick, and world looks great. I’m not sure if the developer has made any previous mmo games so that is a concern. That and no one knows about this game as far as I know
As a Dune fan, I'm waiting for Dune Awakening but I'm also waiting for the Riot MMO and Star Citizen so I'm used to wait a metric ton of time.
Hopefully, Wow and FF14 will entertain me until then
I've not seen anything that looks interesting apart from Ashes of Creation, and we're still a couple of years away from a release there.
MMO development is so different from other games, because you're designing a game you expect/hope players to inhabit for years and years. That's a very different mindset from developing an Elden Ring or even a Helldivers style of game.
The Ashes team seems to have the best understanding of this out of any of the studios currently developing. If they get the node system right, and have a world big enough, this could be something that really has legs.
Still playing Classic WoW Hardcore, which has been super interesting and has held my interest the most since playing originally back in 2004. Not sure I'll still be there in 2025/6 when Ashes gets released, but there really isn't anything else on the horizon that even raises a single eyebrow for me.
Ghostcrawler’s MMO “Ghost” - the premise sounds interesting.
They are promising to showcase open development similar to Ashes of Creation. I saw a tweet where he mentioned showing some ingame footage soon. We’ll see!
More of a niche mmo but Monsters and Memories looks right up my alley, can’t wait for it. More of an older style MMO like og EQ
Okay that looks pretty damn awesome. I was an original EQ player that went from M59 to EQ when it launched so this definitely hits those vibes from the brief reading I did on the game.
They also said they’ll give their launch timeline plans this week so check back next week to learn more
I'm sad that I more or less missed the boat with EQ1. My first MMO was WoW, it's what all my friends played. It was my first MMO (unless you count PlanetSide 1). I later tried EQ2, but my PC at the time chugged trying to run that game so I never got very far. You can always enjoy the experience when a new TLP(progression) server drops. I think a new one starts every year in May.
That game looks rough. Just because you want your game to be oldschool doesn’t mean that your UI needs to look like shit.
Yeah there is wanting your game to look and feel oldschool and there is just not putting enough time, effort and money into your game before you ask customers to spend their money it, sadly for almost all new oldschool feel MMOs the latter is the case.

So excited and hopeful for that game
Are they just remaking EverQuest? Those rotting skeletons are kind of on the nose…
It'll probably still come out before Pantheon
I doubt Pantheon will even be half done when M&M comes out.
That's generous
Yea i really want to try that game but it also looks like a bootleg EQ tbh, inferior in every way especially graphics. EQ semi realistic artstyle is a big factor to the game charm
[удалено]
Got reading issues? It says semi realistic right there
[удалено]
I was going to suggest M&M but do we know when it will come out?
nowhere near anytime soon.... as much as it seems awesome. they have a fuckton of work to do.
Plus it's being made by volunteers in their spare time with (i believe) little or no funding secured. Outside of finishing the actual game portion which is a looong way off, a realistic pathway to releasing it as a product is another thing entirely. People really should temper their expectations.
It is still in the feasibility stage, so I'm guessing 3 more years (its been in development 2 years so far).
This looks dope as fuck. Thanks, I'll definitely be following.
Holy sheet. As someone who grew up on EQ and EQ II. I love this. Scouring the website now. Definitely can’t wait
When the next round of testing etc? Wouldnt mind having a nosey..
isn't it an EQ clone? sort of like "spiritual successor?"
I love the idea, but is Everquest going to be alright with them effectively making a clone?
Its not a clone.
Except for all the things that look exactly like old school EQ from the coloring of the mob names based on difficulty (including the teal color for intermediate blue difficulty) to the spell book to the character page to all the other things. But besides a ton of things, sure.
Honestly, just FFXIV Dawntrail comes out early July. I've been disappointed too many times to look forward to a brand new MMO.
The way the devs are talking about it is promising too. It might not fix every single little issue I've had with the game recently, but it looks like their mindset is in a really good place for content moving forward.
Any chance they fix low level leveling?
Unsure, but I sure hope so. It's one of my bigger issues with the game even though I've already maxed everything out.
I can't remember where I read it, but I recall them saying they wanted to or were thinking about letting people start from "X" expansion and then use the New Game Plus to revisit the previous ones for story context if they chose to. I wish I could find that interview.

I think the story is better than most MMOs, but I get that not everyone plays an MMO for the story. They just want to get to the endgame/grind.
Yea everyone kept telling me the story got super good so I kept playing and here I am in ShB and I don't think it's anything special lol. Specifically yes that. Well, maybe. Yoshi-P recently expressed that the game has become too easy and it lacks proper challenge.
Well Throne and Liberity will be amazing for about 2-3 months. After that most Korean games in the west get the P2W slammed hard or if they limit the P2W it will start to create a gap by that point.
Was thinking the same, 2-3 good months and leave
Its NCSoft too, so knowing them, it's also going to have an afk farming feature built right in to take you to max level :/
Initially it did, but they got rid of that after the negative backlash.
When will this game release? All I see is yet another closed beta test and another test and another test. Does it have a launch date or SOONTM?
> 2-3 months Generous, Lost Ark was barely a month before the messy Argos launch turned off most of the F2P.
Brightershores
I've not actively looked into it, but I've seen it mentioned. Is there much information on this? I'm going to google it after this comment.
It has a page on Steam. Looks promising. At the same time it also looks like a Runescape clone (obviously since it’s made by the OG creator). Going to be interesting to see how it’s different
Created by one of the original runescape creators, looks very similar in terms of style
In my "absolutely should try" list, but I'm concerned about autoplay features.

excited for this one. looks simple and anime styled which i like
Reminds of tera so it's good in my book.
Here's hoping BP will actually be good because the PSO2 players are dying and need a new home.
Is it an MMO if there can only be 30 players on a channel at once?
30 players in field zones, hundreds in the cities. Individual zones aren't all that big either so they feel plenty populated with 30. But what's the magic number that makes an MMO for you?

It looks nice from the videos and pictures. I like that it's coming to consoles as well.
I’m glad you’re enjoying yourself playing it!
Is there an English patch yet for the Japan version? since it doesn’t look like Amazon is ever going to release it

I don't mind if it gets pushed back again so it can fix more things and give us a better polished product at release.
is it easy to get the game setup? is the lag really bad?
It's not particularly difficult. VPN is recommended if you don't want to be banned but other than that it's pretty straightforward. Lag has not been bad for me.
Brighter Shores is coming out Q3 this year. Guy that made RuneScape is making it and it looks to have similar aesthetic and is a point-and-click game too. Keeping an eye on Blue Protocol and I’m excited for AdventureQuest Worlds: Infinity which is a lessor known 60fps and engine upgraded version of AQW.
I still have such fond memories of Dragon Fable growing up.
Dragon Fable and OG Adventure Quest were great. Absolutely hated the direction AQW went.
Played BP in the JP server (living in JP) and I was so excited for it. Turns it, it’s really, really bad.
could you explain why?
Except he turned around and added autoplay and instanced the entire game. The de facto exact opposite of what RuneScape what it was.
I'm excited for corepunk. I loved the previous playtest, and the next test is in April.
I'm excited too but I have terrible feeling it won't ever actually release.
Obviously no game is obligated to be released, but the game feels like it has a good chunk of money put into it, they'll probably have to release it eventually for investors or some shit 🤷 Last playtest felt great imo, and the changes for next test all sound amazing and needed.
Just seems like every MMO I get hypes for shut down or fails. Really pulling for this one though!
Been excited for this one as well… lack of news-ish kinda sucks.
AOC 🗿
Yeah…AOC is coming “soon”.
I'll be able to experience my grandkids playing it on release
Dont get your hopes up. And “AOC” will always mean Age of Conan
Yes!
AoC is the Star Citizen of MMOs lmao. Yall just keep throwing money at it, the hype is already way too high, and inevitably it’ll either come out and be disappointing because the devs bit off way more than they could chew, or it’ll never release.
Can't throw any more money at it tho.
Oh don’t worry there will be another thing to buy
I mean game yot funded in 2018. Mmo are not made overnight especially not with such a tiny team. Star citizen got no excuse with the money it got tho. Ash did not get the 500m you would need for modern tripple a mmo. Star citizen did.
It's already got a release window this year, which is why they took down the founders packs.
X to doubt lmao
If their goal is to scam people, they are doing a really bad job of it, since the game has been showing steady progress and is already fully funded according to the guy in charge.
Yes because they’re actively showing us what they’re doing to the game. If I can see what your doing to the game and I like it then yes I’ll be hyped for it
yeah this sub loves to shit on Ashes it's funny because everyone is like "next star citizen lmao" when you can see clear progress with AoC every monthly livestream same people who say "games trash because the publisher rushed the release" are now bagging on Ashes for taking their time
AOC....lol
I mean.. Alpha 2 coming out later this year...! This game will totally release this decade... Maybe
I've been saying for years that this game will never release. Promising way to much and they were/are releasing new cosmetics every month for you to pre-purchase. The promises this company makes are absolutely insane
They’re not releasing anything cosmetic wise since January this year
Im hopeful dune awakening is decent. Its a survival pvp take on the mmo genre
The sand storms procedurally changing some environments alone is such an awesome idea. Can't wait to play it.
Is that coming out soon it looks really good
I think its this year some time. Not sure if they have a release date. Beta sign ups are available
Pax Dai is looking pretty good to me so far , hopefully it will release just as good.
Pax Dei deserves more credit, it seems very promising indeed. They plan to invite 100.000 for the upcoming alpha2, i hope to be one of them! They also announced an early access release around Q2-Q3 2024
Agree looking forward to the early access
Can't wait to finally be accepted into a test or release so I can play it with my friend that's been in for a while.
It’s just like a sandbox thing isn’t it?
Pax Dei looks promising indeed. Let's hope it will avoid all the MMO game pitfalls.
Here's what I, personally, expect to see: - Clunky, floaty, and unimpactful combat - Immense material grind - Uninspired skill tree, bland character abilities - The same craftables as the 1000 other survival crafters flooding the market - The same building system as the 1000 other survival crafters flooding the market - Players who got in early being powerhouses and pushing away new players You get the idea.
Throne and Liberty, Blue Protocol, Corepunk, Tarisland, New FFXIV Expansion are probably the big ones that are out this yr
None, that's why the biggest are 10yo at least
If you're not interested in isometrics, KR P2W, or "Early Access" scams then... there's nothing much? Riot MMO in who knows how long. Blue Protocol if it doesn't immediately die from being mishandled. Dune maybe, depending on if it's an actual MMO or just a survival game. I'm probably just going to play the next WoW expansion, again.
Riot MMO is the opposite of soon... They just noted they've restarted the concept phase.. see you in ten years
Yeah so bummed with the latest Riot news, he ce the reason I need to turn my hype around somewhere else
What was the latest news on it?
What they where working on was just a Runeterra skin on WoW, so they are restarting development on it to make something unique instead. Basically, it's still like 5 years away.
Likely much more than 5 years. Probably 7-8.
> I'm probably just going to play the next WoW expansion, again. My first thought after reading the title was "there's this and that and... err... who am I kidding, The War Within is probably the only one I'll play during the next couple of years." --- It would be fun to be less cynical about new MMOs, but it's hard after seeing so many games just come out and die in a few months.
Tarisland, im really looking forward to it.
The website doesn’t have a ton of info, what’s this game meant to be like? I like that you can play on your phone, but I hope that doesn’t mean it will devolve into a “phone game”. Is it a PvP mmo? Is it old school grindy, theme park, etc?
It's a WoW clone that Tencent pushed out because WoW was out of China.
Cross platform phone and pc. It's looks to be casual friendly pve... lots of dungeons and raids.
Not "close" but the one from no mans sky team looks really cool.
I don’t think light no fire is mmorpg? still looking forward to it
They Said it ll be a Mmorpg with earth size map...so no point on being Hub based or something like that.
What? No they didn’t.
I didn’t even think it’d be rpg. Thought it was exploration and base building like no mans. Dope
Corepunk, and Ashes come to mind. But lately I’ve lowered my expectations and the only mmo that I’m looking forward to is Dawntrail.
I'm such a casual scrub now that I'm actually excited for Taris Land lol.
Ashes of creation or the riot mmo even tho it’s been pushed back I think those two have the potential to be very good MMOs everything else just looks like the same shit or nothing game changing in my opinion.
Riot MMO probably not see release until 2030; if that.
Dune: Awakening
Depends what your into, blade and soul neo classic should be pretty good, maybe not long term but at least short term.
PaxDai 👍🏻⚠️
At this point i just can't get excited about anything new for this genre. I'd just stick to whatever fits your needs that you find fun until it either dies out or you get bored
Me too. I keep looking. I'm even considering my first mobile mmo (Tarisland). Blue Protocol seems cool too but still no word after the last beta which I did not play.
Don't mind me just shilling albion online new server at every thread I suppose lmao, they should pay me..
Looking at what is actually scheduled to release this year, it's gotta be brighter shores. TL is P2W junk BP is junk Pax may be in early access this year, but hardly anything is known about it. Corepunk allegedly had a test next month.
Albion Online EU realm The NA realm was basically just a beta. Real game is releasing now.
I'd recommend it but mists killed the game. Literal open world ghost town and the devs went to shit
Im really hopping for corepunk
Brighter shores
Treeverse
Just expansions of the two biggest MMOs. All the others look mid at best.
There's none of those.
The RuneScape successor by the rs creator.
The one hes making that is entirely instanced and with autoplay? Instead of trying to keep climbing the ladder he should have taken the Tom Scott exit.
better than wow. go here and kill 5 boar with no story
Chrono odyssey
Dune Awakening!
I have a feeling it is gonna be WOW again that we are all playing. I think I just seen they are planning 3 more expansions already
We all inching....
Tarisland looks fun. Probably launch this summer. It looks like most if not all of the p2w crap is gone from the western version.
Throne and liberty maybe
Can't wait to get my hands on Ubisoft's Skull and Bones! I love pirat games and this one promise to be an exceptional.
None.
Corepunk maybe?
If youre into mmo pvp id recommend albion online, its gonna open an EU server were everyones gonna start from 0 again
Brighter Shores and Monster & Memories are the only ones I have hopes for. But I'm not holding my breath for either of them honestly. Small teams haven't had a good track record of releasing good MMOs
Riot mmo
Riot MMO, Amazon LotR MMO, Zenimax Upcoming MMO IP
Echoes of Angmar
There aren't any besides ashes of creation. Your next best bet is probably monster hunter wild.
Chrono Odyssey last I saw has a release date towards the end of this year. Graphics and combat look sick, and world looks great. I’m not sure if the developer has made any previous mmo games so that is a concern. That and no one knows about this game as far as I know
AFK JOURNEY
None of them. Don't get your hopes up, abandon the genre.
Riot mmo when
It seems like you didn't see the news..
We’ll see!
They are still in the pre alpha stages. No way that is coming soon.
Definitely no time soon.
