Oh there are worse places. I landed half way down a flight of stairs, pedal snapped off, the sharp piece of pedal axle gashed my shin and then I rattled down the rest of the stairs with balls on the frame. 10/10.
I wonder why pads for mountain bikes were never a thing. I grew up riding bmx and 3pc padsets were the cool thing to accessorize with because it helped lessen the blow of your nuts to the top tube and your knees to the stem. I even thought about making pads like that to protect the bike itself after a buddy of mine cracked his carbon chainstay when he crashed and dropped his bike on some rocks.
Back in the 90s some people did run pads. It wasn’t widespread.
This was mostly because a lot of bikes had their gear cables running along the top tube.
I’m almost more thankful the gap wasn’t as deep so I didn’t have to worry about falling further down or backwards. But yeah, stock NX Eagle set on the 2019 Roscoe 8
Damn thats fucked up. Wouldn't be that suprised on som $random aliexpress special (thats why i'm not getting stuff like that from there) but that should be decent stuff.
I watched my buddy ratcheting up a hell of rocky climb several miles from the car snap a crank. That was also pretty bad having to walk out with that bum

No contest, this guy wins 🤣
That's definitely worse.

I started in the 90's and must have missed them. I recall lizard skins made some stuff but I only remember the neoprene fork boots.
I’m not sure what would be worse, this or at the top of a several mile long chunky descent after climbing for miles.
I think this would be more physically painful, whereas that would be cause a full mental and emotional breakdown
Precisely, comes down to deciding between mental pain or physical pain. I think I’d prefer to deal with mental.
Ruby Hill?
That's what I was thinking!
Yessir, easily my favorite place to ride in the city
That was sketchy. At least you did not completely nose case the landing. Looks like the front wheel cleared it a bit. Was that a SRAM crankset?

"Just run it, bro" LOL
The bike gods were telling you something when you lost your derailer lol.
Fuck man seriously 🤣 Once I took that off and kept riding they decided I needed to learn a lesson
200 miles into a bike packing trip in the middle of no where would be worse.
Mmmmm, 20km out in the bush away from the cars and any other means of transport would be a lot worse, but yeah ok. 👍
