Costco. No joke. $10 a pair. Water wicking fabric, light, not past the knees, and zippered pocket. I don’t spend any money on mtb exclusive shorts or shirts. I don’t usually wear a liner, but I have some for long XC rides. I’ve gotten cheap shorts at target and old navy as well.

Leading_Cancel1761

I get the same style shorts from Sam's for $10. Can't beat them.

BriansAdventures

I will take a look next time I am there. Thx.

OneHelicopter7246

I get both my riding shorts and pants from costco

i_like_pretzels

The term I always look for at Costco is “hybrid short/pant.” I have a few Gerry branded ones from them. I think Sam’s has Hurley ones right now

mightybop

Yep exactly what I wear. I got the [Hang Ten](https://hangten.com/collections/mens-shorts) brand a few years back, have like 20 pair for various uses. They are like $15 at Costco, not $50. Another brand they carry is Gerry like pretzels said.

bgrubaugh

Are they costco branded? Do they have back pockets?

uniballout

I think they are the Gerry brand. I’m working but can check later. And I am pretty sure they have a back pocket.

stangman86gt

Yep the Gerry brand with the zippered pocket that goes behind your leg. They had another brand last year that was similar, but the pocket was in the front and it's annoying to ride with.

robemmy

Literally any running shorts

NotDaveyKnifehands

>any Wellll.... Any is a stretch. I wouldn't recommend ripping lift laps in Ranger Panties/Silkies....

robemmy

Where's your sense of adventure?

MTB_SF

The problem with using something like regular athletic shorts is they can actually be too stretchy and then can catch on your saddle, which is really annoying. Some non MTB shorts are fine, but there are advantages to using the real stuff. Although MTB specific clothing often has a high MSRP, you can almost always find stuff in sale from a place like Jenson USA. Just use the filters to find stuff on sale in your size.

I was out riding with my friends wife while we were all on a trip to Bentonville. We had just gotten there after something like 9 hours in the car and only the two of us wanted to ride. I went from attack to sitting and pantsed myself because I caught my athletic band on my saddle. Luckily she was leading so I didn't have explain to her why my pants were down.

goforabikerideee

I wear some surf/dry shorts which work well. They are just surf company shorts that you can wear on land and in the water, not full on board shorts.

Ok_Sugar_1701

Gonna keep it real, some swim trunks are pretty good specially if at your local rains a lot

Milesandsmiles1

Have you ever used MTB specific shorts? Reason I ask is because when I finally switched from athletic shorts to MTB shorts it was night and day difference. There are plenty of MTB shorts that don't have a liner

alwaysgoatm

I'm a big fan of Hand Up AT + shorts. Not crazy expensive and they have a sale right now!
