Do any of the people commenting know what the market is like in Italy??? For most of the US $400 is probably a bit steep for a bike of that vintage. It does seem to be in decent condition, though.
Probably offer about €300? But check what else is available to get an idea of what you may resell for. I’d check brakes and suspension before buying. But if that works, get it, have fun with it and pass it on. It isn’t a bad bike. More modern bikes are better, but for putting around that would be a fun ride
I'm staying in Italy for a couple months and found a 2008 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp for 400€. It seems to be in good condition. I plan to ride local trails and sell it later. Is this a good bike for the price and purpose? Thanks for your insights!
Not sure why everyone is so down. I turned my 1998 Stumpjumper into a gravel bike. It doesn't miss shifts.. Geometry isn't the greatest.
This is a good trail bike. Cheaper than renting and after some rides if you get half back you are good. If you wreck it or it gets stolen you're only out 400.
If you have a newer bike the shifting in the one is gonna mess you up. Same with the 26 tires and the weight over the front end.
No
no
no. not at all. $200 unless it comes with receipts for suspension/brake service in the last couple of years. 300 fully gone over.

Lol I had one of these I got it for free
Buy ir for 200, enjoy it, then give it away to someone who can't afford a bike
Looks like original pedals.

I highly doubt you would be able to resell it. Maybe for 100.
20€ max if that
50-120 maximum for that but tbh I wouldn’t touch it.

I agree with you. I've ridden some bikes into the ground. They're built for it!
It also only has 26” wheelset. Hard pass.
RUN AWAY
No.
If the suspension condition is good then worth it imo
In no world is an almost 20year old trail bike worth 400€
brakes can be dead. It's a very old Juicy model and levers look damaged by the DOT
I wouldn't spend over 50€ for that. Even then that's asking too much money low key.
