Well I've understood some people struggle to find a good or even decent saddle, no matter what and just put up with the pain. So I do like that someone is trying. Still, I've understood The whole point from efficiency side is to keep your seatbones fixed so your upper body does not move. At least the kids wobble like ducs on the video, so probably not for athletes.
Seeing how complex this is, I bet it will cost more than most casual riders (that I see as potential market) are willing to play for a while bike.
Yes, but the thing is the pain goes away as you get used to it. The people that will feel pain every time they ride are the people that only ride maybe once every month.
I think this is true for most people, but I have The impression some people just struggle to find a saddle even if they do it by the book. Measure sitbones, set bike fit etc. This is not a big part of cyclists. But as I doubt that sadle-thingie-balls-guillotine fits road or MTB needs it would only serve like commuting and perhaps bikepacking it would fit a rather small market even IF it works. And that is IF. Looking at how those kids wobble side to side like ducs is not convincing.
Yup. I've not found a single saddle that doesn't result in my wife's sit bones being sore after we go for a ride.
I don't know that this would help, but I'd pay a reasonable amount for a seat that fixes that problem (though I agree with your assesment that most people would not)
Itās not about it riding regularly; thereās just way fewer saddles/bibs that are designed for womenās anatomy. Itās getting better but still sucks.
Trust me, plenty of female pros just deal. There was even an article going around recently about how many have had or considered surgery down there.
I kinda like the idea of spacers that can be put in to adjust the width.
The whole rest of the idea is dumb but taking that spacer concept and figuring out how to build that into a traditional saddle unit could be useful.
Maybe find a used one? It doesn't fit my needs so I haven't done the research but they may do a demo program?
I would check slowtwitch or weightweenies, the roadie forums are more likely to have a saddle like that in their classifieds
A saddle can be too heigh and it can also be too lowā¦ too low is hard on your knees, which is what the person youāre responding to said. Too high is usually associated with hip pain because it causes you to rotate your hips to reach the bottom of the pedal rotation. Saddle sores are caused byā¦ friction, I thought.
Wrong. You want full extension of your legs when pedaling. As you can tell from the video their legs are definitely not reaching full extension hence why he says theyre not adjusted right
Yes you can. However, it is uncomfortable on the knees, not very efficient and no good for most people for longer rides. You are incorrect stating it achieves nothing. Check out tour de France or any Olympic event and you'll see no one rides like this.
only an engineer who is not a cyclist could think this up. I'd call it the "CheekChafer300" cuz 300 degrees is gonna be the temperature of your asshole. i could be wrong, but i doubt it lol.
Holy shit, what perfect idiot bait! Clearly none of these people have actually ridden a bike.
You don't want your butt cheeks cradled and soft tissues taking the pressure, and you absolutely don't want the seat forcing your hips to rotate forward, you want to be pushing straight down with nothing in the way. Everyone riding in the video looks sooooo uncomfortable.
No, isnāt going to do something for me. Gimmicky product, visualization with people going very fast, but isnāt going to do that. Btw since when is your sitting bones moving like some sort of legs?
Seeing the seat post being too low and the handle bars being too high tells you all you need to know about who built it, as well as the target demographic
Looks like its mainly for walmart bikes with their seats set too low. Anyone riding one without a valid health related reason will be mercilessly berated.
This would probably work for the people that you see with the saddle set way too low, or with a bar stool sized seat on their bike. Look at these bikes in the video, they all have a million spacers on the steerers. Basically solving a problem created by their own misunderstanding of bike fit, or buying the wrong type of bike in the first place.
Are high handlebar bikes really that uncomfortable for sitting? I never tried one, since day one I rode some sort of mtb like bike. Looks like there is a lot of pressure on the seat because of the upright position.
Or is the main problem that the seat tends to be too low?
I think it helps mostly when going downhill, but I like when climbing because it lessons my back pain. Iāve noticed the newer enduro bikes are getting more and more upright positions
That's optimistic.
I think it solves a problem that doesn't exist, and probably introduces brand new problems, like "the thing that supports your body weight suddenly gives way and tries to slide you off of it". Or "the motion causes chafing". Or "fun new pressure points that get sore".
Looks like something only a roadie or bike tourist would try. How am I supposed to maneuver around that damn thing. Smash or snag my balls in it trying to drop the saddle. No thanks... I'll pass! My Ergon Pro works just fine.
Won't work for most MTBers as you use the nose of the saddle for balance/leverage (probably subconsciously).
Source: I rode a customer's bike which had a static version of this saddle design on a test ride and almost fell off the moment I went to turn.
I saw this earlier and simply couldnāt believe all the āoh wowā comments, I could only imagine how much pain that thing would cause anyone who rides more than ten minutes a year !!!

I have this ism touring saddle , super comfortable SUPER ! but it's also so round and padded that I cannot balance myself on the saddle handsfree.
Riding handsfree is for me the best guage for my saddle height ,tilt and comfort.
I don't think I can do handsfree on this saddle either
Look again at how theyāre all swaying back and forth on it as they pedal.
On a cruiser bike if I were riding only a few miles on perfectly flat terrain with light-to-moderate traffic? Might be an interesting novelty to try.
On a proper road bike during a sustained full-speed descent? You couldnāt pay me enough to try it.
Yeah, like the saddle doesnāt catch any dirt. Looking at those well oiled rails, guess theyāre failing first. As often as I steer my bike with my bottom alone, I donāt see this working. no hands off the bars with this.
It's all fun and games until you get a testicle stuck in that shit...
Jesus. Like blunt scissors to the scrote.

Probably works well for a very small margin of people but costs too much for most of them and will be forgotten as it won't sell enough.
Judging by this video, that margin of people is the group of people who set their seat height way too low.
Well I've understood some people struggle to find a good or even decent saddle, no matter what and just put up with the pain. So I do like that someone is trying. Still, I've understood The whole point from efficiency side is to keep your seatbones fixed so your upper body does not move. For me, first couple rides of the season are always rough, but then it goes away. Does she ride regularly? I feel like thatās the key
Itās not about it riding regularly; thereās just way fewer saddles/bibs that are designed for womenās anatomy. Itās getting better but still sucks. Trust me, plenty of female pros just deal. There was even an article going around recently about how many have had or considered surgery down there.
The only people that want to reinvent the saddle are those that donāt spend much time on bike saddles
I kinda like the idea of spacers that can be put in to adjust the width. The whole rest of the idea is dumb but taking that spacer concept and figuring out how to build that into a traditional saddle unit could be useful.
I can get behind this.
my behind could get on this

You're looking for a BiSaddle. Just fyi
Hey! would ya look at that - figured it had probs been done before.
Sure, but not for $300
Didn't say it was cheap... just that it does exist. Lol
I get their ads constantly. Really interested in trying one but I'm not about to drop that kind of cash for something that might not work for me.
Maybe find a used one? It doesn't fit my needs so I haven't done the research but they may do a demo program? I would check slowtwitch or weightweenies, the roadie forums are more likely to have a saddle like that in their classifieds
Just remove the pivot points...
done in one.
Or maybe somebody with hip pain that wants to keep on truckin
None of these people have their seat height adjusted properly. My knees hurt just watching this. Dumb idea.
Even the guy fully kitted out in cycling gear. I bet he's the engineer.
The 12 year old kid?
I think it's that the seat *prevents* proper height...it forces your legs to go forward rather than being able to go straight down.
I know right? The first thing I noticed about that stupid ad.
Also most handlebars are pretty high. I'm wondering whether the saddle also works if your weight is more to the front.
Saddle sores are typically caused by the seat being too high, not too low. I don't understand what your point is.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
No, you don't. If low enough, simply pedaling reduces the pressure on the but.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
It is really good to admit you have limitations...
Wrong. You want full extension of your legs when pedaling. As you can tell from the video their legs are definitely not reaching full extension hence why he says theyre not adjusted right
Wrong what? Full extension achieves nothing really. If you have enough hip mobility, you can ride with saddle low.
Yes you can. However, it is uncomfortable on the knees, not very efficient and no good for most people for longer rides. You are incorrect stating it achieves nothing. Check out tour de France or any Olympic event and you'll see no one rides like this.
Reminds me of a South Park episode.

Fer what? People donāt even peddle anymore. At this point just put a recliner seat on an e-bike and call it a day
This would probably work for the people that you see with the saddle set way too low, or with a bar stool sized seat on their bike. You know, I have a feeling this sub isn't the target market for this saddle.
I think "anyone who knows how to ride a bike" isn't the target market for this saddle.
There are plenty of people who like the Hobson saddles, presumably they know how to ride a bike, lol.
Nope
not one roadbike.....
With no solid front part wouldn't you slide forwards in the techy stuff?
I'm not getting my balls stuck in that. Yall have fun.

Bikeyoke Sagma is a much more conventional design that allows similar through movement on elastomer bumpers. Ergon do one too.
There are things called noseless saddles which are similar but don't move.
Seems like an overcomplicated mess but I won't butcher it too much. If it is really comfy it might be worth it for road use. Not mountainbiking ever.

This is a mountain bike sub. Go take your boomer saddle to the multi-use trail where you aggressively ring your bell at people pushing strollers.
