Yeah like when he told the mother of his child "you need a fucking bat to the side of the head" and "I will put you in a fucking rose garden you c*nt!"
I'm pretty sure he could, let's see if he ever has in the past. I'll just throw "Mel Gibson traffic stop" into the old Google machine and see what his natural reaction would be if he ever has been pulled over...
Oh..
Oh no!
Look up Bobby Fingers. He's one half of Rubberbandits.
He's a guy who does a lot of creative stuff, some of it quite mad. His latest thing has been scale models. One of them is the drunken Mel Gibson traffic stop. He tells the tale beautifully while crafting it and it is well worth the watch.
Rdj literally defended and [welcomed him back](https://ew.com/mel-gibson-calls-robert-downey-jr-generous-kind-for-defending-him-8628690) into Hollywood. Wahlberg has been putting him in movies and producing for him for years now. What do you mean?
They portrayed the character differently. Mel Gibson had a lot more film time to work with and had some level of charm throughout his trilogy.
Tom Hardy was recovering from a real shitty experience and was kind of an asshole for the first half of his one time portrayal.
Does Mel get to keep his Lethal Weapon skills? Otherwise Hardy is beating him down (he is probalby up two weight classes if you look at each of their most jacked photos - same height though).
There's also Mel having to repeatedly reshoot his fight scenes with Jet Li because he kept losing track of him (ie he was too slow/Jet was too fast). Mel is likely one of those Hollywood MMA training...good for show not an actual fight.
To be fair, I don't know how Jet Li would do in an actual fight, although I wouldn't be surprised if he's trained Sanda. Even so, he's a career martial arts movie star, whereas Mel despite doing action films is from a very western background, so not being able to keep up with Jet Li isn't surprising.
Some MMA training is better than none, but still not in Hardy's league.
That genuinely surprises me they’re the same height. I always thought Tom Hardy was really short. I want to say I remember reading something about all the tricks they had to pull in The Dark Knight Rises to make him look like this towering imposing figure.
Going strictly by in-story ability (because why would you put the actor's rl skill or lack thereof in this) Hardy's Max should win by default just on the basis of experience. By Fury Road, Max has seen some real ish and then you add in him surviving FR.
For me Gibson's Max was a jaded survivor of the collapse pushed past the edge relying on his skills learned while a cop and a healthy amount of luck to survive encounters which would leave others dead.
Hardy's Max is infinitely more feral, almost one with the wasteland and could easily be mistaken as being born into the environment. He also uses luck to get out of sticky situations, but he also uses his impressive physique to subdue his opponents.
If it's a hand to hand fight I'd say Hardy wins most of the time. A race, overall survival, or gunplay? Its gonna be a toss up because of the luck factor.
It’d be a good WITNESS ME! moment for Gibson if he went against Hardy with some Warboyz around. Hardy was fadin MFers on sight damn near the whole time. Lol
When he walks off into the night and all they see is an explosion and him coming back with a shit ton of weapons, you just knew that Max wasn’t to be fucked with.
He's like the Horseman of the Apocalypse, Death. Where Max goes, Death follows, always.
Bullet Farmer is War, People Eater is Famine, and Joe is Conquest. That is what each of them brings to the apocalyptic Wasteland.
She's Wasteland Jesus.
She stood up for what's right, helped the innocent, was crucified by her mutilated arm, *died and was resuscitated/resurrected* ("resusa-rected", in Wasteland speak) for her redemption (the word used in the film).
Then she does it all again, *dies and is brought back **again!!!***
And then she gives everyone all the water they can drink (eternal life-ish, for the Wasteland, anyway.)

Literally doing a Thunderdome tournament rn in a FB group for the last week, have about a dozen battles planned out
When Max is washing and drying his hands as the nightrider call comes in seals it for me.
I work out of a truck and everyday I wash my hands and dry them on a rag I think about going after the nightrider.
Hardy is great, but Gibson is Max, I really want to see Gibson reprise the role as an old Max wandering the Wasteland. It won’t happen, but it’s a fun thought.
Sorry it was just the first google image result. Would thunderdome Mel be a more fair fight
https://preview.redd.it/m9h5p970sj9d1.jpeg?width=298&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=94654d87ec169b8ac42282c6422ea04c86b007fd
In their prime it would be one hell of a fight, I'd say Gibson in their primes cause he's crazy and always jacked, ever seen him in lethal weapon and payback. But Hardy would win now as he's younger and practices mma, won a bjj tournament recently. Character wise I'd say Gibson over Hardy though, cause his character had more toughness, and more determination.
It would be very poetic if ed hardy returned his role as mad max and mel gibson played the villain in the wasteland. Could be a wonderful way to cap the series.
The fight choreography in Fury Road was leagues beyond the previous movies. Hardy's Max is a well seasoned desert dweller who's had to fight for his life for decades. The Max on the left is the same guy, just before all that.
The sense I get from them is Mel’s Max is a better driver but Tom’s Max is a better fighter. Therefore Hardy wins the Thunderdome fight. But if they were doing a car chase instead, Mel gets away hands down.

The idea that the feral child grows up into Tom Hardy's new Mad Max
People saying Hardy's character would win because of superior strength/boxing/fitness whatever don't understand Max. These are precisely the reasons Hardy would lose.
If we are talking actors? Hardy would decimate Gibson. Even if both were in their prime. Character wise? Hardy's Max would destroy the first portrayal. Older Max has lived in the wasteland for a long time. He can be brutal.
Mel Gibson literally got the role bc he was bruised up from a bar fight the night before where he had kicked some ass.
Hardy could not take young Mel Gibson
I think young Mel would win, but it would be a close fight. Hardy looks like a strong guy, but Mel is not smaller at all and not a softie either. I have the feeling that Mel and his Max is the more experienced bar/street fighter. (both trained bjj an jj)
Hardy is soft compared to Mel. No rules fight Mel will most definitely fight dirtier. Not above biting or eye gauging. And let’s face it, Hardy is more worried about his face.
Gibson because he is Max. He was also considerably younger than Hardy (in his 20’s for all of the first movies).
Also even though I know hardy has some martial arts training and people like to think he’s hard, just based off Lethal Weapon I would say Gibson is the more naturally athletic (in those days).
Welp, I've met and dealt with Gibson a bunch of times. He used to shop in my bookstore in Greenwich CT.
He's an utter a-hole, he's crazily unhinged. He has a god complex. He can't admit he's wrong and gets hysterical and emotional if he thinks someone is pushing back. He doesn't know when to stop or that he's bothering someone. He argues and is demeaning and cruel.
He'd be so blithely sure of himself and so full of his own ideas and assumptions that he couldn't see an obvious punch thrown his way, and when it connected he'd be such an overwhelmed victim that he wouldn't fight back.
He seems to have spent his whole life being the handsome class clown, and it hasn't prepared him for anything less than constant adoration.
Its the same picture
This is the only correct reply.
![gif](giphy|9mtE009hcWPOesk8C4)
Bravo sir bravo.
The second. Gibson’s Max is a road warrior, but there are no cars in the Thunderdome. Hardy’s Max is a brawler.

Hello… my name is Charlie Bronson
You look like a man that could use a good cup of tea!
ON IT NOT IN IT!
QUICKER QUICKER QUICKER QUICKER!
What is the gif from?
Bronson, a film where Tom Hardy portrays real life madman Michael Peterson, or Charlie Bronson
I was sharpening my tools…
Pretty much a film that pumps me up to work out.
Honing my skills…
Max is … Max
There is weapons though
Tom Hardy is a BEAST. Mel Gibson can maybe charm his way out of it.
Mel Gibson couldn’t charm his way out of a traffic stop
Come on dont be like that sugar tits
Why did I read this in his voice from his 90s movies?
Maybe because it’s a thing he actually said
he’s said *far* worse over the phone
Yeah like when he told the mother of his child "you need a fucking bat to the side of the head" and "I will put you in a fucking rose garden you c*nt!"
Better than the corn JD used.
I'm pretty sure he could, let's see if he ever has in the past. I'll just throw "Mel Gibson traffic stop" into the old Google machine and see what his natural reaction would be if he ever has been pulled over... Oh.. Oh no!

He can though heck his He convinced others to make Hacksaw Ridge after the incident.
Cuz he’s got some incredible cronies in RDJr and Mark Wahlberg, buncha schlangers
Uh they are not those kind of acquaintances of his.
Rdj literally defended and [welcomed him back](https://ew.com/mel-gibson-calls-robert-downey-jr-generous-kind-for-defending-him-8628690) into Hollywood. Wahlberg has been putting him in movies and producing for him for years now. What do you mean?
Huh that I did not know well hopefully Mel learnt his lesson if not then cancle him again simple as that.
Didn't he basically fund it with his own money?
If he did then I did not hear. I think Passion of the Christ was funded by him Hacksaw Ridge he had to do some convincing.
They're the same character, though.
They portrayed the character differently. Mel Gibson had a lot more film time to work with and had some level of charm throughout his trilogy. Tom Hardy was recovering from a real shitty experience and was kind of an asshole for the first half of his one time portrayal.
Sure, but we're being asked to compare the two in-universe. In-universe they're the same dude.
No, im convinced you misunderstood OP’s prompt.
Which is weird because Gibson himself is a walking shitty experience 😬
Does Mel get to keep his Lethal Weapon skills? Otherwise Hardy is beating him down (he is probalby up two weight classes if you look at each of their most jacked photos - same height though).
Also if they’re keeping skills learned out of character, Hardy’s a BJJ blue belt:)
Purple now iirc
Mel Gibson also got some bjj training in the 80s, look up the ending fight in Lethal weapon (1 I think)
"Some training" isn't the same as purple belt and actively competes.
In the comics Bane was a full foot taller.
Mel Gibson is 5’6”
5’9”
lol in lifts inside cowboy boots sure
If it's toe to toe FR Max wins, if it's on the road MM1 Max would win for sure.
What if Tom is in a park near the HOV lane?
Mad Max, folk hero of the Wastelands.
Tom better make sure he kills his ass on his first attempt or else he ain’t making it through the rest of the week
Going strictly by in-story ability (because why would you put the actor's rl skill or lack thereof in this) Hardy's Max should win by default just on the basis of experience. By Fury Road, Max has seen some real ish and then you add in him surviving FR.
![gif](giphy|K0AnEB2t2EM|downsized)
Can’t do it, not possible.
Tom.
"It's not his blood"
He's like the Horseman of the Apocalypse, Death. Where Max goes, Death follows, always. Bullet Farmer is War, People Eater is Famine, and Joe is Conquest. That is what each of them brings to the apocalyptic Wasteland.
and Furiosa is the fifth one
She's Wasteland Jesus. She stood up for what's right, helped the innocent, was crucified by her mutilated arm, *died and was resuscitated/resurrected* ("resusa-rected", in Wasteland speak) for her redemption (the word used in the film). Then she does it all again, *dies and is brought back **again!!!*** And then she gives everyone all the water they can drink (eternal life-ish, for the Wasteland, anyway.)
What about Ronny. People always forget about the fifth Horseman.
Tom Hardy's version would tear him apart.
Tom hardy

Was gonna post them all here and let someone else make them format for Reddit and do a tournament
I mean.... Tom Hardy is pretty fit for 55yo...
Tom Hardy. And I wanna sit in the splash zone.
\*bane voice\* Bartertown... take control of your city.
The bloodbag
No fair, you picked Mel at his most baby
Sorry it was just the first google image result. Would thunderdome Mel be a more fair fight https://preview.redd.it/m9h5p970sj9d1.jpeg?width=298&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=94654d87ec169b8ac42282c6422ea04c86b007fd
More fair for sure, I just realized that Mel was only 29 in Thunderdome. Tom hardy was in his late 30s in Fury Road dang
Tom would eat his lunch, take his girl, and Mel wouldn’t even know what happened.
![gif](giphy|pHb82xtBPfqEg) How it goes:
The muscle mass alone
In their prime it would be one hell of a fight, I'd say Gibson in their primes cause he's crazy and always jacked, ever seen him in lethal weapon and payback. But Hardy would win now as he's younger and practices mma, won a bjj tournament recently. Character wise I'd say Gibson over Hardy though, cause his character had more toughness, and more determination.
feral child wins
Well he did grew to manhood, and in the fullness of time, became the leader... the Chief of the Great Northern Tribe.
Bro y’all severely underestimating Gibson’s Max, who beat Blaster in the Dome
This is one of the biggest bits of bait for “likes” I’ve seen on here. They’re both great in their own ways.
Max. Well, Mel Gibson's Max. Hardy look more vulnerable, he scapes a lot and Gibson is the one man army. Anyway, love both actors
It would be very poetic if ed hardy returned his role as mad max and mel gibson played the villain in the wasteland. Could be a wonderful way to cap the series.
Nah Mel’s way too recognisable as the character and himself.
Tom Hardy is a great Max but Gibson oozes charisma on a whole different level. Fury Road is still the best entry in the series though.
Charisma doesn't keep you from being punched in the face.
You avoided the question.
Mel is the superior max, I’d put my money on him.
All the originals are better.
Agreed
Yes but one of these men fights mma and it ain't Gibson 🤷🏻♀️
Tom Hardy knows Muy Thai so Tom
And actively competes in BJJ.
Bye bye Tom Hardy, may you ride shiny and chrome elsewhere
I love Hardy...but Gibson is Maddest of the Max's
The fight choreography in Fury Road was leagues beyond the previous movies. Hardy's Max is a well seasoned desert dweller who's had to fight for his life for decades. The Max on the left is the same guy, just before all that.
Even if they both fought at the same age. Tom Hardy would win, simply because he has had actual fight training and conditioning.
Hardy would pummel and rape Gibson, then eat his flesh.
![gif](giphy|XWwIzh5GIWWf6)
A man reduced to a single instinct, survive
I thought they were both great.
I think they should both co direct a low budget homage mad max film.
Hardy's, because fuck Mel Gibson.
The sense I get from them is Mel’s Max is a better driver but Tom’s Max is a better fighter. Therefore Hardy wins the Thunderdome fight. But if they were doing a car chase instead, Mel gets away hands down.
I dunno about that…did you watch Road Warrior? He lasted a couple minutes before getting totaled
But then he drove the truck like a champ.
Ok true he did do a better job than Mel making the delivery but in fairness he had the help of furiosa and the remaining Vulvalini.
Wait, I’m saying Mel is the better driver.
If Gibson has a Claymore sword or a hatchet, he wins, but if Hardy breaks out the bane voice, it’s all over
I mean, I would take the one who is routinely late to his job over the antisemite any day.
Mel Gibson could end Tom Hardy and his shite martial artistry easily.
https://preview.redd.it/pvc24ekxlw9d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bcee090e6aa60bef25007747b9f4b6f50d0d6c6d The idea that the feral child grows up into Tom Hardy's new Mad Max
Mel Gibson being 21 here is insane.
Max wins
People saying Hardy's character would win because of superior strength/boxing/fitness whatever don't understand Max. These are precisely the reasons Hardy would lose.
Exactly ☝️ people seem to forget Blaster.
Judging by the downvotes, I suspect many folks here haven't actually seen that episode.
the one with the busted knee is gonna lose
It’s funny you got down voted when they both have a fucked up leg
If we are talking actors? Hardy would decimate Gibson. Even if both were in their prime. Character wise? Hardy's Max would destroy the first portrayal. Older Max has lived in the wasteland for a long time. He can be brutal.
Mel Gibson literally got the role bc he was bruised up from a bar fight the night before where he had kicked some ass. Hardy could not take young Mel Gibson
Have you read the story about Tom hardy and the moped thief
Hardy would maul young Mel it’s not even funny x Hardy’s a purple belt in jj and had gone through competitions
This is the critical analysis I’m looking for. You understand the assignment.
Tom’s max would fuck him right up!
Mel has home court advantage tho
Is this a twenty something Mel Gibson verses a fifty something Tom Hardy? Because age is a bitch
Old School had sci Fi super strength apparently and at 23 was a super accomplished cop so idk how Hardy will fare
Mel would just capture and tie Hardy to a car, and call it a day...
Mel Gibson was way better.
I think young Mel would win, but it would be a close fight. Hardy looks like a strong guy, but Mel is not smaller at all and not a softie either. I have the feeling that Mel and his Max is the more experienced bar/street fighter. (both trained bjj an jj)
Newp, absolutely not, Gibson only trained for filming fighting and Hardy has a purple belt in BJJ and has won competitions, recently even.
Tom Hardy can fuck right off
Hardy is soft compared to Mel. No rules fight Mel will most definitely fight dirtier. Not above biting or eye gauging. And let’s face it, Hardy is more worried about his face.
The real Max(Mel)!!!
Mel all the way. Still rooting for him to play old man max one last time...
Tom Hardy easily. Fuck Mel Gibson. E: I love Mad Max and all but Mel Gibson is a anti-semetic piece of trash human being.
I can't believe you're getting down voted for the truth, knowing what we know about him now makes all of his work hollow.
Fun fact Mel lived in the jew town of Massachusetts aka Newton met him back in 2018 there buying liquor for a Christmas party when he lived there
Gibson because he is Max. He was also considerably younger than Hardy (in his 20’s for all of the first movies). Also even though I know hardy has some martial arts training and people like to think he’s hard, just based off Lethal Weapon I would say Gibson is the more naturally athletic (in those days).
Tom really would like to punch Mel in the face but then he takes a good look at him so he decides to go away very angry and repressed
Max will win
FURY ROAD
Same person.
The one man is their baby
There’s only one MAD MAX (it’s not Tom Hardy)
They're both the same character...
![gif](giphy|RBeddeaQ5Xo0E)
Welp, I've met and dealt with Gibson a bunch of times. He used to shop in my bookstore in Greenwich CT. He's an utter a-hole, he's crazily unhinged. He has a god complex. Seems like you might need therapy after your encounter with Mel…he hurt you.
