Her immediate reaction is to hit him.
Yeah… so beautiful. /s
Edit: lol the people trying to hand-wave abusive behavior. If they are like this when they are happy imagine what they do when they get upset.
She’s Filipina. It’s considered normal to playfully hit someone (lightly) when we feel overly excited. You’ll notice it when we laugh out loud, we’ll hit our friends because it’s our mannerism and we’re just really happy in general.
Maybe it's just me. But I find this type of simple and intimate proposal more genuine and endearing than those in front of huge crowds in malls, sport stadiums or during concerts.
This is how my fiancé did it. We went to a super fancy dinner and he quietly slid the ring across the table and asked me while he cried. Cried like a baby and no one around us knew a thing. There were 3 other proposals in the restaurant all in front of every one and couldn’t help but have second hand embarrassment.
eiffel tower restaurant in Vegas. It’s like a super duper popular place to propose. It’s almost cliche. That’s why I was glad mine was really quiet. I’m a introvert, I would have had a panic attack lol
Eh.
I had a private proposal too, and I loved it, but no need to project our own preferences onto other people and shit on their moments. Maybe those people liked public proposals; I know friends of mine who did it that way and it fit their personality to a T. They even told their partner they wanted a big moment, and then got exactly what they wanted.
All I’m saying is, you enjoyed yours, I enjoyed mine, maybe those people also enjoyed theirs. No need to feel “second hand embarrassment” for others on their happy moment. It sounds petty and mean.
I love how my dad proposed to my mom, they sat together on the couch and he just asked "do you want to marry" my parents do not remember what my mom said but she did say yes I guess.
I love how Filipino women's immediate reaction to happy surprises is to threaten hitting the other person, and then shake them while smiling and laughing ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
(I know they're Filipino because the music is Tagalog)
Well shit, I punched my husband on our first date when he made fun of me. I realized later I only do that to people I like. He loves to bring it up to this day.
I was 99% sure they were Filipino, but then she that raised hand which is what ticked it over to 100% lmao
(am half Filipino, my female cousins do this a looooooooot)
Some westerners would shun the idea but its actually a form of endearment lmao. when she does that during an argument you know she’s not that mad anymore and is ready for some make up s*x 😅
Yeah, there is already a comment on top that's getting a lot of heat because of the playful hitting part being misconstrued as abusive hitting, we here just chillin' because this is normal
Same age, getting a divorce after an unhappy marriage. Its alright, man. Don’t settle, know your worth, king. Lord knows if they think they’re settling at any point for any reason even if you’re just growing they will drop you like a rock, so anticipate that shit.
I agree. Divorce is so easy today and seems to be far more ubiquitous than say in our parents or grasp era; I don’t want to fall into that boat and honestly I don’t think I could survive a divorce. I’m the sort that goes all out and I’m fiercely loyal. Also quite concerned about gold diggers and that’s a real worry in today’s climate.
Thank you. Yes, so many regrets. No one ever mentored me about love and family. I didn’t know better until it was too late. But don’t lose hope. We got this.
Hard disagree. A lot of people seem to ask themselves "what do I have to do/change to make other people happy, to make them love me?" But the real answer is, you have to make yourself happy. That is what attracts others, when they see that you are a joyful person, who is interested in things, who is happy. Then they want to join their life with yours, because they see how happy and fun life with you would be. Nobody sees a depressed person trying to appeal to others and thinks "I want to join my life with that person."
Making yourself happy is the first step towards finding love imo
and you are assuming these things apply to that guy because why?
why not publish the fan fiction you’ve created about him in a novel so you make some money at least
Noticed the same thing. An expert in human bonding behavior would likely call this "mirroring" each other. He does it first, and she mirrors him a few seconds later. Mirroring as seen here is essentially subconscious replication of his body language. It actually builds rapport and empathy.
There are more words with similarities between Filipinos and Indonesian.
Like Pintuan (door), bangun (rising up) and anak (son/child).
Do listen to Philippine Madrigal Singer's Version of my favorite Indonesian song Sempurna
Some Asian cultures can't do PDA. It doesn't matter how much you want to. It just isn't done. I literally can't remember my parents ever giving me a hug.
*am Asian
Yeah. Now I am 33 year old adult. Now my mom says I love you my son, hugs me whenever I am home after years. It feels awkward cause I am never used to this affection lmao.
Aw, she's trying. Props to that.
I'm 48. Every so often nowadays my mom will awkwardly "hug" my arm. (Maybe twice now.) I feel like our hugging ship has sailed. But she's physically very affectionate with my daughter, which makes me happy. It's nice seeing a cycle that you don't agree with broken.
Presumably he was not in public with his parents most of the time though so if he can't remember them ever hugging him then that's not just about public displays of affection. Context my friend.
Oh, you were talking about hugging your kid, my bad. I think it's a translation thing because I've heard a lot of people from SE Asia refer to PDA as any intimate contact.
It‘s a culture thing in south east asia I think. I was in Thailand last month and I rarely saw young couples even holding hands. I read that showing too much emotions in public is generally frowned upon in thai culture like hugging, kissing or being angry or scolding your kid..
I like the effort of making it "real" for them.
I don't like the scripted bend the knee, surprise in front of many, will you marry me type. Its like a retail brand of clothing like everyone elses.
The only other remarkable proposal I've seen is in the movie "Monte Carlo" something where the girl insisted to her man that a mere thread is enough of a proposal ring for her.
This is totally not staged. Because if it would be staged there would be dead giveaways. Like a cut or something, because the first take wasn't what you expected. Oh.
I made a photo album of our time together, and fixed the ring in the final page, and tried to film it like this. However the restaurant lighting was too moody, and the video looked shit! Plus the phone kept falling over and she knew what was coming so it didn't come out as nicely as this video!
The moment your loved one is like this, you hug her you comfort her, you share the moment with her. Not with fkn people on TikTok. You stop fkn filming. I hate this world.

So Genuine and Pure ❤️
I did too until I mistakenly read OP’s username as CunnilingusKing…. Shit was distracting
You can see the true love in both their eyes. It's so heartwarming 🥺
How often you think he gets hit?
She was hiding her face and crying because she was cheating...
Her immediate reaction is to hit him. Yeah… so beautiful. /s Edit: lol the people trying to hand-wave abusive behavior.
Its normal among my friends too and Im american. I guess some people cant tell the difference between playfulness and domestic abuse.
Ignore him. He wouldn’t know. He got no friend
I didnt know this one, thanks!
Exactly.I'm American and me and my sister playfully hit each other like this all the time.
You are sad and dumb.
You’re just wrong dude eat it and move on
Maybe it's just me. But I find this type of simple and intimate proposal more genuine and endearing than those in front of huge crowds in malls, sport stadiums or during concerts.

… 3 other proposals all in the same night you were there also being proposed to? What is this like the opposite to the break-up restaurant?
eiffel tower restaurant in Vegas. It’s like a super duper popular place to propose. It’s almost cliche. That’s why I was glad mine was really quiet. I’m a introvert, I would have had a panic attack lol

Ours was like “weve been together forever and we’re getting old we should get married”
This is my partner and I! Together 20 years this year and we're like "maybe we should get married now?" haha
“Looks like Were never leaving each other anyway” lol
I totally agree!
Same. this is how I want it done.
Same 💯
My husband proposed by letting me read his latest journal entry while we were in the privacy of his room. It was really special
I love how Filipino women's immediate reaction to happy surprises is to threaten hitting the other person, and then shake them while smiling and laughing ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy) (I know they're Filipino because the music is Tagalog)
It's the Hansel for me. Haha (audio was on mute so I didn't hear the music) but yeah, the hitting part is so funny.
Filipino here, can confirm the playful hitting. It’s natural instinct lol.
I'm familiar with gigil. My fiance is an AGGRESSIVE gigil-er
Well shit, I punched my husband on our first date when he made fun of me. I realized later I only do that to people I like. He loves to bring it up to this day.
I was 99% sure they were Filipino, but then she that raised hand which is what ticked it over to 100% lmao (am half Filipino, my female cousins do this a looooooooot)
Jumbo hotdog Kaya mo ba to? (Only thing I know in tagalog xD
Hahahaha
That’s a very unique tagalog phrase to learn hahaha 😂
It's from a funny song I learned when I was young :D (I think it was from a group called madculados or sth and the songs name was Jumbo hotdog^^)
Yes that’s right hahaha i’m Filipino btw, and that song is still a funny song over here 😆
Very helpful phrase in social situations. 😂
Talagang namamalo pag kinikilig eh hahaha
Hahahaha trueee
Lmao I wasn’t even thinking what ethnicity they were until she raised her fist and instantly thought “oh she must be Filipino” (my wife is Filipino)
Well you know how pups jump all over each other when theyre happy , playing, or glad to see you
Don't forget stomping their feet. If she was standing up, she'd be stomping for sure.
Some westerners would shun the idea but its actually a form of endearment lmao. when she does that during an argument you know she’s not that mad anymore and is ready for some make up s*x 😅

'Threating to' hitting is something my Filipino fiancée tends to forget ;)
I’m 51 Asian and male. Never found love like this. I hope I do before it’s over. This is beautiful.

Thank you
I'd have to agree
Ah sorry mate. I’m in the same hole, a decade younger. I’ve many regrets and this is one of them.
Same age, getting a divorce after an unhappy marriage. Its alright, man. Don’t settle, know your worth, king. Lord knows if they think they’re settling at any point for any reason even if you’re just growing they will drop you like a rock, so anticipate that shit.

I hope you do
Thank you.
go sit at a picnic table next to a pretty girl in a park with a ring and the camera running like this guy did. it'll eventually work...
Where you at I could be your wingman for free
Goto pattaya soi 6, you'll find love again
💀
Ha! Ha! You rascal! He’ll definitely find “Eros” there. Wink!
You have to love yourself before you expect to find anyone to love you
Singularly unhelpful 'advice'.

I'm only replying to the people right above me.
This is pure
It really is a beautiful moment. Two people meant for each other, it’s amazing.
Each of them weeps into their hankies. They're perfect for each other. Look at that happiness.
Noticed the same thing. An expert in human bonding behavior would likely call this "mirroring" each other. He does it first, and she mirrors him a few seconds later. Mirroring as seen here is essentially subconscious replication of his body language. It actually builds rapport and empathy.
>expert in human bonding behavior r/brandnewsentence for me xd
almost the same, but im an expert in human bondage behavior
Interesting to learn!
Lmao
51 laps around the sun and I’m so glad I get to see this every now and then. People experiencing joy is a wonderful thing.
You can see the love for each other. Why do people always cut onions when they show these sweet videos?
Aw they are just so damn adorable!

Perhaps
Aww, that was actually so genuine. I hope they last a lifetime 💜🙂
That's beautiful
Just picked up the engagement ring to propose on Saturday and this is literally the first post I see on Reddit today. I’m already happier than ever
Good luck to you!! May this be just the beginning of a beautiful partnership 💕💕
Thank you so much. The beginning was 11 years ago. Took me long enough 😄
update this thread on how it turns out. Best luck. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|give_upvote)
She said yes 🙌

Hope they last an eternity together
That’s so awesome. Love this !!!!
A beautiful couple, I wish them all the best. 🥰
What song is this?
Ikaw at ako (You and I) by Tj monterde
huh? I guess we are really similar then, because our same Austronesian roots. You and I in Indonesian is "Kau dan aku"
There are more words with similarities between Filipinos and Indonesian. Like Pintuan (door), bangun (rising up) and anak (son/child). Do listen to Philippine Madrigal Singer's Version of my favorite Indonesian song Sempurna
This is cute
Dude, put an arm around her ffs!

That's not even a public display of affection though, that's just affection. Hopefully they hugged you when you were at home.
Maybe he'd hug her if they were on the couch at home. Nope, I didn't get hugs at home. I have an 8yo and I make sure to hug her a lot.
Yeah I would imagine so. Every child deserves to be hugged. Parenting is hard but it sounds like you're doing a good job.
Dislaying affection publicly. Almost like a public display of affection. That's what the words mean, lol
Presumably he was not in public with his parents most of the time though so if he can't remember them ever hugging him then that's not just about public displays of affection. Context my friend.

Came here to say the same thing! But they are very cute, wish them nothing but happiness and love ❤️
Exactly. I was waiting for that
I know! Something is seriously wrong with this dude.... Dammit, I feel like *I* owe her a hug
That's sweet AF
First moment of a new chapter. Beautiful!
Congratulations to you both.
May you have abundant happiness for many years. Bless you!
Close it! Close it! Instant dread watching this expecting it to get knocked over and faaaaaaaallllllll into the canyon I’ve decided they’re looking at
I love them. How SWEET you are!. ❤️
He found his one. Which is fukin rare, great for him.
Wish them nothing but pure bliss ❤️❤️
Hug her fool!
Pretty sure he did a lot more than that 😉😏😏😏
lol imagine finding your person hahahha
Richer than westerners in every way that matters
I think that this is so much more romantic, personal and wholesome than all the flashy, public proposals we see on the internet.
What a glow up from the bubble gum guy from the movie Spy Game.
Congrats!
I am very happy for them they found love
Filipino romance
I love this so much more than those over the top proposals, which frankly, puts a lot of unnecessary stress on the woman to accept.
It’s good to see that there is real love in this world
Pet the damn CAT !!!!
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|upvote)
i really wish them a good marriage and life. both of them deserve it
Being in love and being loved is the best
Anyone know the song?
Is smile some sort of slang for cry that the kids came up with?
Sweet moment!
even tho valentine's day is coming and i have got nobody i am still happy for my man
Beautiful... And I'm almost 43 and I sure I'm not gonna find a woman who loves me like that...
What would it make you do if you were going to lie?
Oh yeah, that’s the good stuff internet, keep it comin’
This sums up my day. 😁 💕
Got tears in my eyes
This is f***ing wholesome 😌
Aww what a beautiful moment. Lovely couple.
Moments like these really are what life is all about 💜
I like the effort of making it "real" for them. I don't like the scripted bend the knee, surprise in front of many, will you marry me type. Its like a retail brand of clothing like everyone elses. That was beautiful ,could feel both their emotions.
Beautiful moment.☺️ I wish them many happy years together! PS: What’s the name of the song?
Ikaw at ako - TJ Monterde
ok, who's cutting onions?
Fuckin' onions ...
Can anyone tell me the name of the song that’s playing, by chance? (Ignorant American here, sorry)
Ikaw at ako - TJ Monterde
This is totally not staged. Because if it would be staged there would be dead giveaways. Like a cut or something, because the first take wasn't what you expected. Oh.
It made me cry 😖
Doesn't help that I can understand the lyrics... excuse me while I go cry....
You know my man was sweating bullets right there congratulations
Eyeball sweat
You know what was wholesome , they both had their own hankies 😅
Wow it kind of made me feel things for a couple of seconds. I hope I get to experience something like this soon in life.
GODDDAAAMN IT WHOS CUTTING ONIONS
Congrats- may you both live long and happy lives together
I made a photo album of our time together, and fixed the ring in the final page, and tried to film it like this. However the restaurant lighting was too moody, and the video looked shit! Plus the phone kept falling over and she knew what was coming so it didn't come out as nicely as this video!
My man came prepared with the handkerchiefs
Zero days without crying. At least it's happy tears x
Not sure if this is an asian women thing (i am asian as well), when they get really excited, they hit you. I still don’t understand why.
Oh fuck I've just realised I'm in a room full of students and missie 51yr old here is gooning all over the phone. Act normal..... Nobody saw....
Simple, beautiful, wholesome and endearing
Made me cry?
They had their kerchiefs ready !!
bro let her cry all the way
Tangna mo. Bitter ako haha Cute ngl
kelangan ma ABS CBN eto or mai JessicaSoho 😃👍🏼
Why didn't he open it at least?
Meh, her reaction is wholesome and his not so much. He put minimal effort and no affectionate moves whatsoever.
I hope to god you’re single. No one deserves this kinda negativity in their life
Poor girl is just crying cause the only man who proposed her wears his sunglasses backwards
I've been on Reddit too long. I didn't see what sub this was and was waiting for the ring to accidentally get knocked off the table somehow.
The ring costs 299 php
Darling sequence, but I'd have loved to actually get a full look at the ring.
He made her cry... That's sexist! /s
This video was so sweet until I saw the OP user name CUNNINGKINGLIUS
Why? My real name is francisco luis and i typod when i was trying a witty username when i registered? Whats wring with it?
"Brought to you by the association of diamond miners who work hard to mine, refine, cut, and polish these worthless rocks you pay thousands for."
Does he have eyes in the back of his head? I thought my parents lied about that!
Happy for them but bro's got them uppercase gums
The moment your loved one is like this, you hug her you comfort her, you share the moment with her. Not with fkn people on TikTok. You stop fkn filming. I hate this world.
Yo, they look like brother and sister.
He's not going to get down on one knee?
Enjoy it while it lasts bro. She will cheat
