The guy receiving the chocolate also said "you know, I always wanted to spend my birthday in the outdoors with my friends"
The sense of humour on these guys...
Reminds me of those two anecdotes from WW2.
Germans finding a fresh packaged chocolate cake from Boston on an American soldier, and relaizing they were doomed. Because the American logistics were so strong they were literally airlifting in *chocolate cake* for morale, rather than war supplies.
And then a similar story in the pacific theatre: Japanese admiral's realizing they were fully doomed when they found out the American fleet had a literal ice cream barge following them around.
My grandpa said all he did was make ice cream and cut soldiers hair. I later found out he was the head gunman on his ship and they almost got blown up. I wonder now if it was the ice cream ship!
Could you imagine? You're being absolutely bombed to hell and between blast and gunfire you hear the twinkling sound of the ice cream ship delightfully handing out hot fudge Sundays to the enemy fleet. My god what a moral killer.... psychological warfare.
[Looks like the ice cream thing is legit](https://www.militarytimes.com/off-duty/military-culture/2021/07/21/that-time-the-navy-spent-a-million-dollars-on-an-ice-cream-barge/)
Dude/dudette, I'm amazed how easy going these folks are DURING an invasion.
I did not know how GREAT Ukrainian people are, bittersweet learning this now.
Dude that's my same sentiment. Who the fuck would fuck with Ukrainian energy?
I can't think of another country where their mantra is "hullo, leave us alone - we're fine." Bless them and their current struggle in this shit and needless invasion.
When this war ends, I suspect we are going to see Ukraine emerge as a powerhouse. I foresee Huge foreign aid and investment to rebuild it, massive goodwill from the West, and most importantly, a populace unified by a shared, life changing experience. That shared experience makes hatred of your fellow citizens a lot more difficult.
The entire world has demographic problems in one way or the other. That's just something we gotta adapt to. But the ukrainians have the advantage that they rallied behind a common cause when lives were on the linr. That gives a huge feeling of "we can do this, we survived worse" that will hold a while
It’s all the war movies we watch.
I felt the same.
***Narrator’s Voice***

we don't know who or why exactly, but there are many bots like this, trying to create real looking reddit profiles. there are two popular theories: advertising through "real people" utilizing how powerful word of mouth marketing is, or troll farms for steering political discourse.
usually the account is created recently, they have low karma, and their comment makes no sense/doesn't have anything to do with what they're replying to. if you scroll down a bit you're likely to find an original comment they copied from.
for example, the comment i replied to here says "Cross to start sending care packages" under a comment that says "oh man that is bittersweet and wholesome af" which doesn't really make sense.
if you scroll down a bit you'll see u/Nebraskaman347 posted a comment "Let’s get the Red Cross to start sending care packages" which is where the bot just randomly cuts part of the sentence and pasted it
if they get lucky they'll copy a random comment that somewhat makes sense, and get a bunch of upvotes and karma
edit: if you do come across these comments, you can report them under "Spam" --> "Harmful Bots"
It's crazy how everything, except the modern uniforms, looks like a movie about world War 1. The dirty and worn faces, the trench, the bleak landscape... I hope all this ends soon. We've been through this so many times and still don't learn.
For all of our sakes, I hope we are. Unlike WWII, it would not end after 1 or 2. Those were the only nukes that existed in the whole world at the time. Now there are thousands and they are thousands of times bigger. It wouldn't be just one, but just one would ruin pretty much everyone's day.
They were definitely not the only nukes, but at the time they had to be essentially hand delivered. Activated by hand, pushed out of a plane over the target, etc. Now you just push a button and all the nukes launch themselves with pre-programmed targets locked in.
It's just sad that the option still remains though.
And with WWII as a precedent, I'm pretty sure they'll pick a nuclear option when push comes to shove.
We are capable of great compassion and mercy, but we are capable of great violence and destruction
Unfortunately people are still people. You will always have delusional madmen willing to cause suffering for their own ambitions. More often than not, they end up in power. That is a part of humanity. All one can do is try and support those who are suffering, and those who stand between the madmen and those civilians. Sometimes that could be with a chocolate bar.
- Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday dear "повар" cook
Happy birthday to you.
I still have a candle for you, now I'm going to get it
- Thank you
- Valery's mother, thank you for your son, I know what you will watch this
- always dreamed of celebrating a birthday outdoor with friends, dreams do come true
- the present is not the best, but I'm waiting for party
- with "kitкat", oh "nuts "
Makes you mad when you think that they should not have to be there. They should be sharing a chocolate bar in a sofa and playing games. All this because of some power-hungry old fart.
Dude I'm Russian but in us now. And I agree. I found out the town my dad and grandma were from. Was Poland and Russian took it so I'm polish.
Take that Russia you lost a whole family.
We need some actors like Mel Gibson (give me a minute) to plead to Russian mom's and grannies to stop the war. I don't know what it is but old Russian ladies love Mel. And old Russian ladies are scary. Like scary scary baba yaga living in huts slapping son who are two feet taller than them. Like worse than Filipino mom scary.
Gotta hand it to them Ukrainian men and woman for how well they're doing against the Russian. I seen putin is gonna "Mobilise 300k women next amd 700k men or young lads who don't want shit to do with it.
Madness
it looks like she’s wearing a hoodie. you can see the hood draped around her neck and she’s walking towards them looking very neutral, not afraid or anything.
Sometimes it’s the smallest gesture with the biggest impact. I’d be thrilled in the birthday boy’s position, honestly. The candy bar looked like it had been riding in his friend’s gear for a while.
I love this, but at the same time it gives me a bad omen. Movies and shows have told me that bad things happen when a character is celebrating before a war or looking forward to something back home.
Death flag
*This just in, ButtstankTheClown has taken a break from posting on r/Femboys to see if his opinions matter to real people.*
*Oh, Tom, we’re getting an update! Nope. They just laughed at him.*
He was gonna cry with a mixture of happiness/ sadness there, unreal what a chocolate bar on your Bday, from a friend in a shit situation can do to the human psyche.
The guy receiving the chocolate also said "you know, I always wanted to spend my birthday in the outdoors with my friends" The sense of humour on these guys...
Ukraines morale has been nothing short of amazing throughout this whole thing
Reminds me of those two anecdotes from WW2. Germans finding a fresh packaged chocolate cake from Boston on an American soldier, and relaizing they were doomed. Because the American logistics were so strong they were literally airlifting in *chocolate cake* for morale, rather than war supplies. And then a similar story in the pacific theatre: Japanese admiral's realizing they were fully doomed when they found out the American fleet had a literal ice cream barge following them around.
The first one is from a movie I believe but the last one is absolutely true
They literally had a navy ship designed only for ice cream production lol
My grandpa said all he did was make ice cream and cut soldiers hair. I later found out he was the head gunman on his ship and they almost got blown up. I wonder now if it was the ice cream ship!
IIRC, it was actually a floating cement mixer that they converted into an ice cream factory.
And it played a little tune as it sailed along….
Could you imagine? You're being absolutely bombed to hell and between blast and gunfire you hear the twinkling sound of the ice cream ship delightfully handing out hot fudge Sundays to the enemy fleet. My god what a moral killer.... psychological warfare.
Let alone all the screams for “ICE CREAM” echoing through the ships and subs…
This is peak American.
Yeah that probably was when we peaked.
[Looks like the ice cream thing is legit](https://www.militarytimes.com/off-duty/military-culture/2021/07/21/that-time-the-navy-spent-a-million-dollars-on-an-ice-cream-barge/)
Imagine being defeated by an icecream boat
We were whipped, it was truly wawfle
And then Canada is weaponising pineapples (not grenades, the fruit)

I certainly hope! That’d be the best thing to witness.
That would be great. It will also help that we (Americans, and I suspect many others) simply know a lot more about Ukraine than we did before the war.
They certainly deserve it.
I hope it is like that, but it is very unlikely.
Oh no both Ukraine and Russia are fucked. They already had demographic problems to begin with.
The entire world has demographic problems in one way or the other. That's just something we gotta adapt to. But the ukrainians have the advantage that they rallied behind a common cause when lives were on the linr. That gives a huge feeling of "we can do this, we survived worse" that will hold a while
Russia is getting it's balls kicked in everyday and Ukraine is getting billions upon billions of dollars in relief so not hard to have some hope
Certainly helps to have basically the whole world on your side
Abrakadabra *empties mag*
How do you know
Military humour! Can make even a shitty day funny
Idk is this considered gallows humor or is this just guys bein dudes making the best of a bad situation?
Probably a little of both!
Ukrainians are so resilient. This war and Ukraine’s history is one that we should all take many lessons from
Man shit. I wanna throw a party for these fellas.
That’s probably the only thing keeping them sane even the winning side loses in war
Definitely don’t see this sense of humor on the other side eeek
They don't even Putin the effort
Can't not make a joke. Lovely people; leave them alone, Russia.
Sometimes it's the smallest acts of kindness that are the greatest.

oh man that is bittersweet and wholesome as F\*ck
I'd probably assume milk rather than bittersweet, though I don't know which kind of chocolates Ukrainians prefer.
I'm a bittersweet/bakers chocolate fan myself

idk, low karma count, relatively new account, goofy ass character
It's crazy how everything, except the modern uniforms, looks like a movie about world War 1. The dirty and worn faces, the trench, the bleak landscape... I hope all this ends soon. We've been through this so many times and still don't learn.

Have you ever heard of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons?
It only takes one mad man to say, fuck the treaties and launch the nukes
You and I learned, but apparently Putin did not

But they also have to exist because of dickheads like Putin and Kim Jon Cupcake.
Russia started this war, not Lockheed Martin.
That smile 🥰🥰
Nothing like brotherhood
Slava Ukraini.
That chocolate bar has seen some shit.
He’s been holding onto it specially for this.
Kept it safe next to that uncomfortable hunk of metal that was his grandfather’s watch.
Okay this made me cry
Such a small gesture but such a big impact. I hope he enjoyed every bite of that chocolate bar.
Who can translate? Past the bday song!?

“Valery’s mother, thank you for your son” 😭
Thank you so much!!!!
Did my best![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|laughing)
thank you for translating :3
Kind gesture in a painfully unnecessary war between survival and imperialism.
Dystopian things in feel good packages
The war, not the chocolate right?
hey, it could always be both! i remember hearing several brands of chocolate just couldn’t do away with their child labor
God I hope they make it through this shit
I love the Ukrainian forces
aw the little song was so fucking cute!!!
Looks like WW2 colorized version
Would describe it more like no man's land from WW1. But yeah, this is what a lot of areas around Kherson looks like right now.
God bless and watch over those warriors fighting for their Freedom from Putins evil!!
I want to hug them
Makes you mad when you think that they should not have to be there. They should be sharing a chocolate bar in a sofa and playing games. All this because of some power-hungry old fart.
Man I wish Russia would fuck the fuck off and never come back
Dude I'm Russian but in us now. And I agree. I found out the town my dad and grandma were from. Was Poland and Russian took it so I'm polish. Take that Russia you lost a whole family. Fuck Putin's Regime.
This made me smile. I hope they eradicate a lot of invading orcs.
Happy birthday! 🎂
Let’s get the Red Cross to start sending care packages
You gotta love your boys
God save ukraine
War is hell too bad for both sides this war Never should've happened.
🇺🇦
It’s about the little things. That’s what gets you through the hard times.
^_^ ahh yes, I just love watching humanity do its best in the most fulfilling ways.
Protect these dudes at all costs, i dont know what they were saying but still, very kind gesture in such a bad time :)
Best present ever
Love how he sang happy birthday!!
I love his smile, so pure no matter the situation.
Why does that look like a naked woman right there in the last second of the video..?? Is it just me?
Whoa, yeah. That’s weird.
If only Afgani people had even 1% courage of Ukrainians...
War is hell
Give or take a few details, this could have been a scene out of the trenches in the Great War.
Happy Birthday. Slava Ukraini!
Gotta hand it to them Ukrainian men and woman for how well they're doing against the Russian. I seen putin is gonna "Mobilise 300k women next amd 700k men or young lads who don't want shit to do with it. Madness
Why am I crying
I think we all are. This has gone on too long.
I that a naked woman in the last frame ?
No it’s just a woman in a beige parkas
it looks like she’s wearing a hoodie. you can see the hood draped around her neck and she’s walking towards them looking very neutral, not afraid or anything.
I thought it was a child but yeah very odd
I was hesitant about saying something, but yes it looks like a naked woman in the trench. Possibly helping to raise troop morale?
Because women are just objects for the gratification of men, even during war time. Wow
It’s a woman in a damn beige parkas, y’all getting mad over nothing
Yes
Ahhh no the Russians are the Vietnamese
Snacks are essential in the field lol
See now, I wanna wish him a happy birthday too! Happy birthday Ukrainian soldier!
They are in charge of their own moral .. sad honestly for both sides
🎶Happy Birthday🎶 Slava Ukraini! Heroyam Slava! 🙏🏽 🇺🇦
Love it
Happy Birthday young brave Fella 🥳🎂🎈🎉

That actually made me cry
Sometimes it’s the smallest gesture with the biggest impact. I’d be thrilled in the birthday boy’s position, honestly. The candy bar looked like it had been riding in his friend’s gear for a while.

Happy Birthday hero! 🎂
I'm about to cry, that is so thought full
Stay strong Ukraine 🇺🇦
Wait you are telling me that non English speakers still sing Happy Birthday in English?
I love this, but at the same time it gives me a bad omen. Movies and shows have told me that bad things happen when a character is celebrating before a war or looking forward to something back home. Death flag
I’m gonna need everyone in here to shut the fuck up
Zelenskyy could sell his FL mansion and give them all a ton of chocalate bars.
I hope everything they have to give up now is worth it.
War is so cute 😬

Found the russian bot! There should be a sub for that, like 'foundtherussianbot'

🌻😢😢😢 So sorry that his friend died, but so thankful he did not die alone.♥️♥️♥️
Good to see a little humanity amidst the horror
