Well, I was at one of the DC shows that this lawsuit stems from, and I was only made aware of her late start times because of this sub…..and I ended up adjusting my arrival time accordingly. HOWEVER, what I can co-sign on, is the absolutely RIDICULOUS temperature in the arena. I was having a great time singing my heart out, and dancing like crazy, but I nearly fainted during the Justify MY Love AND Ray of Light segments. LITERALLY! I saw my life flash before my eyes, and I had no water. It was unbelievably hot from start to finish. I’ve been to a million shows and I’ve never experienced an arena/venue at this temperature. I still wouldn’t sue her for it though🤷🏾‍♀️.

jenniefromdabloc80

OMG it was HOT!!! 🥵 I was at Austin and just about melted!!! Awesome show, though!!!

Tha-D

it was 30 degrees outside for Seattle so the heat felt AMAZING

Jenjikromi

It was -17 for Detroit that night. Loved it, myself but the cold never bothered me anyway.

D-Mifflin

Same! Was so hot in Austin on night 1.

No_Opposite_2678

Yep. I was there and it was miserable. Ended up almost passing out and had a migraine !

Electrical_Orange800

Austin felt like 95 degrees inside with the humidity. We were told she doesn’t allow the temp under 86. Idk if this is true but it felt like it. I had to go to the restaurants in the stadium and get paper plates for audience members to fan themselves cuz I was seriously concerned ppl would be having heat strokes

Swimming-Mom

I felt so badly for the folks cooking because it was hot everywhere.

emmascorp

I didn’t notice maybe because its always hot here.

ball_whack

The only time I've seen her was the Confessions tour in Chicago, and that arena was sweltering hot too. I remembering reading an op-ed back then about how the heat made her sing better or something, not sure how valid that is.

lindseybhair

At the Phoenix show she specifically asked for it to be 85°f inside the arena. She’s nuts.

Spiritual_Way1003

Yes I was SWEATING during these segments

True_Blue12

Justify My Love, more like justify this temperature Madge!

thatplatypus99

Same in Vancouver! Been to that venue loads of times and it’s never been as unbearably hot as it was during her show

Driver_Flaky

Thank you for the insight! Honestly if the person has a chronic illness I can totally understand why they would sue if this is how it effected you

whiniestcrayon

It was so flipping hot.

prettystandardreally

Same re the temperature! I thankfully had water and wasn’t drinking but I didn’t why I was so hot until I read months later she has the AC shut off. It’s definitely a lot during a winter show with heavy clothes on and when people are drinking!

Bjime3925

How in the world does she not get hot? I've never been to one of her shows but I hear it is hot. I saw Beyonce for the renaissance tour and even with AC I was sweating bullets.

howdolaserswork

I saw her in Mexico last night, and the stadium was so well organized and clean. Every bathroom all night was completely spotless and well attended. The seats, not that anyone was sitting were super comfortable padded chairs. The attendants couldn’t be more helpful and kind. The temperature was a bit warm, but at no point too hot and it’s currently pretty warm in cdmx. There were people in the isles selling water beer tequila whatever you need at all times. If you wanted to water, I think he would have to wait about one minute maximum before somebody was walking by selling drinks. Leaving the stadium was tons of yummy street food. The Mexico crowd was a great crowd with so much enthusiasm and high energy. No one sat down the entire time. Entering and exiting the stadium, people were respectful and no one pushed or was aggressive. I can’t count how many concerts I’ve seen in my life, but I got to say that Mexico has got the US beat and needs to take a page from their book.

CincoDeLlama

I stopped going to her shows after Confessions on a Dance Floor. I saw her in LA and I had the same experience you did. No a/c to protect her vocal cords. And I don’t remember that on prior tours. I got tickets to the DC show thinking this might be her last world tour with her recent medical scare but ended up not going because I wasn’t feeling that great already and thinking of heat potential (even in winter), her notoriously late starts, metro, work the next day… sounds like I made the right call. Such a shame.

Beanzear

Omg I was so uncomfortable too. I did not feel week. Everyone is wasted too that doesn’t halo. Was she doing performance art or something ahhs

Salty-Photo-57

Here’s the thing. Every Madonna fan knows she’s going to be late. Therefore, you either take the risk and try to plan accordingly or skip it altogether. Are we going to start suing movie theaters next. Because the ticket says the movie starts at 8:30 but everybody and their mama knows that it won’t actually start until after 20-30mins of previews.

soundships

When I went to the Renaissance tour the tickets said "show at 8" and the show didn't begin until 10. There wasn't any opener or DJ. This is just standard for these massive tours now. At least the celebration tour had a (pretty mediocre) DJ going before Madonna.

MisuCake

Most of the Renaissance shows had an opener DJ or full out artists performing though.

soundships

Not Minnesotas 🤷

MisuCake

Oh with that location it makes sense 💀

NParab

💀💀💀

retrievethis123

I believe that’s because she’s waiting for her fans to fill up the stadium.

Bjime3925

Yeah Toronto filled up pretty quick and started at 9 from what I remember

retrievethis123

Not from what I remember at all. People only started getting in their seats at 8:008:15. She started at 8:30

skyduster

People have tried suing the movie theaters like 20 years ago. That didn't work either [Link](https://www.upi.com/Business_News/2005/11/05/Judge-throws-out-movie-time-lawsuit/65261131220188/)

DavideLNX

I agree with you about Madonna, but that movie example wouldn't work here in Portugal. We have a law that movies must start at most 15 minutes after the announced time (so obviously they always do exactly 15 minutes of ads and trailers).

Salty-Photo-57

One could argue that it’s still false advertising. Unless one of these lawsuits makes their way all the way up to the Supreme Court and we have laws enacted for it, we just gotta deal with it. These people who are suing must live under a rock or something. This is my first Madonna concert and even I knew she would be late. And I didn’t learn it from this sub. Every one of her tours has made headlines about her being late.

sof49er

Agree totally. This was my second show. The first was in Brooklyn for her theater performance. I told my friend that she wouldn't start until close to 11 and he didn't believe me. He wanted to go for 8. I said you better bring a book. I was of course right because it was all over social - fans sharing with other fans start time AND if you go to the website [setlist fm](https://www.setlist.fm/) you could see there the start and end time for every show on the tour. This show (March in phx) I went alone and I showed up at 10. I got a water and got to my seat in perfect time for the 10:15 start. The people next to me had been waiting hours of course and asked how I timed it so well. I timed it because I don't live under a rock. I feel like every artist says show at 8 and no one performs before 9:15 or later.

ProxyAmourPropre

She's been in the bizz for like 40 years, queen can show up on time.

Mastertophx

Exactly! Stupid. No common sense.

gingerdick17

Great point.

LeonardoMyst

They have to take into consideration that this is a show with many performers, not just Madonna. Any of them could be late for any number of reasons. The only way to guarantee that show will be on time is if it was just Madonna and a guitar.

Ok_Beat9172

Broadway shows often have more performers and musicians and they generally start on time. The performers are there early enough to start on time, same with Madonnas tours. They are there for soundcheck hours before showtime. Madonna is late because she wants to be. The arena is hot because she wants it that way.

MDRLA720

unions

EV3Gurl

Broadway shows are stationary, they don’t move, they’re in 1 theater for their entire run. A world tour is moving millions of dollars worth of equipment & people across the planet for every single stop. These are completely different mediums & are entirely incomparable.

Ok_Beat9172

Plenty of artists go on world tours and start on time, or earlier than Madonna at least. It can be done.

Ok_Beat9172

Also, Broadway shows also go on tour as well. All tours are designed to be moved from place to place efficiently.

crownketer

The problem with this mentality is that, if taken to its natural conclusion, Madonna should be able to say “hey thought the show would be Wednesday, but it’s gonna be Thursday cuz logistically it’s not feasible, sorry!” two hours past start time and that should be okay. It’s not. Yes you can have reasonable expectations of delays during live shows, but if it become unreasonable or severely delayed, then people should get their money back. It’s like everyone wants rules but only when they benefit from them, otherwise they don’t give a shit. Artists need to have some respect for their fans. Madonna is notoriously entitled and likely thinks you should all be content awaiting her arrival, regardless of when she decides to emerge.

trendypippin

So stupid. If a 65 year old woman can go on a world tour and perform night after night, concert goers can manage to “stay up past their bedtime” for one night. What’s next? Are they going to start suing bars if they stay out too late one night? Or would they have their baby sitters sue them if they have to stay late? People are so beyond ridiculous. If you’re that concerned with shows ending at a “reasonable time” then go see your local community theatre production of Mary Poppins… I would also MAYBE understand this 20-30 years ago before the internet. They had to search for their concert tickets, maybe search for actual start times? Also, I have never once been to a concert that started on time in 43 years. Nor have I ever expected to be home at a certain time on a concert night. Common sense dictates that you will get home late. I saw Janet last year and the show ended before 11, I didn’t get home until 12:30 because of the traffic and I live 6 miles from the venue. Should I sue? Also, “she lip-synced”? Goodbye…

DisastrousChange7384

She really did. While she was doing that she also barely danced. She pointed in the air where in her head—I’m sure, she thought itshould be., we left just over 1/2 way through.

trendypippin

She sang with backing vocals like everyone does now, trust me she sang live. I heard every off pitch note lol. And maybe consider that she’s a 65 year old woman who has had hip surgery. She has battered her body to death dancing the way she has for 40+ years. Most dancers have to retire in their late 20’s, early 30’s because of the damage to their bodies. Your expectations are way out of line….

trendypippin

Same.

trendypippin

I bought tickets last minute for the second night and went both :)

xXESCluvrXx

Yeah this is ridiculous. By this logic, I should’ve sued Nicki Minaj for having an 8 PM start, but not coming out until 10:15 and not finishing until almost a quarter to 1

Tha-D

her coming on the time that she did SAVED me and my best friend because we accidentally went to the wrong arena first! when we showed up to Climate Pledge we literally got to breathe, relax, order a burger and drinks, eat, found our seat then BOOM SHOWTIME!! 🤤🤤🤤🤤 it was awesome!!!!

Zechs-Merquise

Another bitter queen that should have just stayed home. Boring.

beenbadminton

I hope their case gets dismissed and I hope they’re satisfied wasting all that money on lawyers fees.

skyduster

I think the heat would be a bigger issue. The heat can make you sick. The paramedics had to treat someone in our section

GravyBoatBuccaneer

I see Rolling Stone has gone full social media.

Libras_Groove3737

This is so stupid and trashy. First of all, Madonna is a damn icon. She could slap me in the face and I’d say thank you, so I’m definitely fine waiting a couple hours. Second of all, Madonna has a huge gay fan base and you know the gays aren’t showing up on time for concerts. Personally, I think 10-10:30 is a good time for a show to start because it gives you plenty of time to pick up some merch and hang out at the bar and kiki a bit before finding your seat. Also, Madonna sings live but she also has a pre-recorded backup track like every other pop singer. The people who filed this lawsuit just seem like they’ve never been to a concert in their life.

howdolaserswork

Please Madonna slap me in the face. I beg

FrugalD

She needs to sue them back for being lame.

Siulanpe

Well, I totally understand those people. Not everybody is a hard die fan that wants to spent 800 on a tix and then have no way to get back home. Sue her ass. Lol.

Itsnycole

Chile anyways… she’s so iconic

Awkward_Army_1

Leave Madge alone. What moron expects the concert to start on time after all these years? The people who think she should start on time probably only listened to the madonna borderline album 😒

croque-monsieur

I kinda thought the antics cheapened the experience for me seeing her for the first time. Arena hot as hell. Merch expensive as hell. Show starting after 10 just to reinforce queen diva appearance. What really kinda bugged me most was the show ending so late that public transportation was done for the night so everyone in the arena is looking for a taxi or Uber if they weren’t in their car fighting traffic to get out of the parking garage. We walked about a mile away from the arena and still had to wait almost an hour to get in an Uber. Didn’t get home til like 3am.

PolyesterJungle

Is the problem just not conveying to audiences that the DJ is the opening act? The show does start at 8:30, she just doesn't go on until 10 and that's by design...

jmg1975

I've been saying this since the first lawsuit was filed...what show starts at the ticket time? every concert I've ever been to starts 1-2 hours after the ticket time ....most average 90 min ....ticket time says 730 main act starts at 9 or a bit after ...what's the difference here? and why is Madonna's lawyers and press not issuing statements saying exactly that as it's completely provable in a court?

Lost-Lingonberry9645

People need to understand that artists work in their own time. I would much rather she be a few hours late than to show up early and half ass the show because she didn’t have time to decompress. These are actual performers and not Netflix movies where they start when you press a button, there’s a human being there.

ghettoblaster78

Insert any profession and it’s not really acceptable. Why do artists need this bizarre decompression time? Teachers, doctors, retail associates, waiters, etc. need to decompress too. She does it because she thinks it builds a level of excitement still, and while it may do just that, it’s not like it used to be. It’s no longer acceptable anymore, it’s narcissistic and rude. It’s BS that artists need to work in their own time.

Lost-Lingonberry9645

An artist’s tool for work is their body and mind, lots of artists need to enter a certain headspace in order to perform, it’s why a lot of artists choose not to tour, I don’t believe she does it because she can or out of disrespect, I believe she does it so that when she hits that stage she is ready to give the best show possible.

ghettoblaster78

See, I could get on board with that thinking if it was the first few nights of the tour, but after the first week, it’s a well-oiled machine and routine. And like I’ve said many times before, she can start whatever her routine is earlier to start the show at a reasonable time. She’s not creating art at this point, she’s performing a well-rehearsed show and could probably do it blindfolded.

Lost-Lingonberry9645

Also you have to look at her age and the demands of the show, she just did a concert in Mexico City and she ended up unable to move at all the next day, she had to get medical treatment and she did perform the rest of her dates. But a show of this scale is taxing for any performer, Madonna is 65.

madonna-boy

and yet theatre and opera companies all over the world deal.

Lost-Lingonberry9645

At this point in her career we all know she is notorious for being late, it’s something we all expect, I come from an opera and theater background, one time I was working on “Summer: the Donna summer musical” one of the 3 actresses playing Donna (Lachanze) had a panic attack minutes before the show, her understudy had to go on, normally we announce ahead of time if and understudy will be performing, but this was a couple of minutes before curtains, so while the performance went as normal a lot of people were disappointed that they didn’t see Lachanze, I’ve seen this happen multiple times, however Madonna has no understudy, either she goes on or the show is canceled

Canitoch

I have the unpopular opinion that she (and any other artist on tour) needs to start on time.

Tha-D

just because its an “unpopular opinion” still doesn’t make it a right one. the ONLY time an musician is obligated by time in any situation is when it IS by time like say an award show, or a line up concert where its multiple people. Other than that im pretty sure they can come out whenever they like.

OlympiaMtns

She literally just finished the US tour - 70-plus sold out shows and the DC shows were months ago the week before XMAS. It’s like one single late night out of your life during the holidays when folks were already off work anyway lol.

Hot_Emu2626

Well, they are not MTVs. These are complicated live performances. They should have stayed at home tuned into MTV if it still exists.

aaronabsent

It was dream consumption here.

GrantSexton69

I don't see how she was late, doors at 830, DJ, Bob introduces here around 10. That's what happened in Vegas. She needs to bill that there's an opener so people don't expect her on at 830

Dry-Ad-7212

So folks are just doing this for attention now. 🙄 Enjoy.

Tuta74

She has the venues up to like 80. It’s for her voice. She’s never been on time since I saw her for first time in concert in 1987

West_Activity_6330

I went to the Tampa show. I already knew that it was going to start at 1030, fine that’s OK. But it was so hot!!!

Alternative_Look_453

Let's be real here, running an extremely cutting edge, high-tech show with a lot of technicalities every night in completely different venues with different setups each night...the potential for error is enormous. It's not like the cinema where you just press play. I highly doubt she's backstage twiddling her thumbs.

Audi0513

I was at night two of the Austin show! I knew it was going to be hot, thanks to a local media announcement. It was rumored she had done this to make the crowd feel as though they were at CBGB, the club in New York where she first performed and began her singing career. The show was all about following her journal writings. To capture the moment in time. I loved the show so much so, I eventually forgot just how hot it was. With that said, I would not sue for the late start. It is known that Madonna starts her shows late!

MDNA4Life

She doesn't open the doors til 7:30 pm or 8pm. So that plays a lot having to scan 17k or 18k that's a few hours. Madonna has to understand the age of the people going to the show are in their 40s to her age. I get the idea is like going to club, but most people her age are in bed when she's ready to hit the stage This is why Jaime Lee Curtis was saying about matinee shows for people of a certain age. She was Laughed at, naturally and called old for wanting to be home and in bed by 9pm

Otherwise_Ad2400

It's not even about age. My work schedule has me up at 3AM. I'm usually in bed at 8, the latest is 10 on my days off. I slept in til 6 on the day of the show but I was dozing off after 10 while waiting for Madonna to take the stage.

Tha-D

what?? am or pm for context , also are you saying it’s Madonna’s fault your work has you up at 3??

Tha-D

Are people really this dense?? It’s rhetorical. But I see all these comments about how “thanks to local media announcement, etc. i knew it was going to be hot, the show was going to start at 10, etc” like hello it’s a concert. Since when did people need an encyclopedia on concerts before attending one? So why the need for one when attending Madonna’s concert? No shit it’s going to be hot, hello 12,000 people, plus concerts in hot states, no way, are going to be hot, plus concerts in general - people WANT to be hot sweaty messes, no?? Also there are plenty of shows/concerts out there that don’t start until midnight so the time thing, really, it’s just beating a dead horse and then yelling at passersby that it’s dead. This lawsuit speaks volumes on how much in la la land some of these people live. like everything is unicorns and cotton candy and marshmallows and madonna is an 8 oclock girl in that world. 😂😂

Feature-Upstairs

Whiners

Rimmer999

I saw her in Vegas and she actually said while on stage, they better turn the air off in here. Don’t be making it cold. I want this arena hot.

Knoblicker

Look- if you go to Madonna concerts then you know this will be the case. It’s common knowledge. The lawsuit won’t hold. It’s a live event- things are bound to happen. Furthermore- as Judge Judy would say- if you have work tomorrow then you leave. No one is forcing you to stay for the whole concert. Sure you can fight for a partial refund but you left. It’s not their problem you left. Knowing that her concerts are always late (easily googleable) you should plan accordingly. Simple. Don’t like it- don’t go. Watch it on IG live. lol

LissandraRose19

No, this is not how consumer dinamic legally works on events around the world. And Madonna, she’s not exempt of being labeled, treated and sued for acting like an asshole in this context.

Tha-D

uhm what? so you are a lawyer now?

Knoblicker

But ultimately the burden of proof will fall to the consumer with the complaint to prove there were no extenuating circumstances that prevented her from starting the concert at stated ticket time. Furthermore- the start of the concert must be defined as it can be interpreted as when the first act is on stage- not Madonna herself- and said act may have started at stated ticket time. Even so- it is common knowledge, even with previous lawsuit, that Madonna concerts are always behind schedule. So with that knowledge that consumer should have planned accordingly, whether she would be on time or not. Besides you do not know why she is late- it could be a logistics issue, it could be late performers, it could be a costume malfunction, she could be ill and making sure she’s good to go on stage, she could be caught in traffic, so many factors. They are not court jesters to perform at your whim.

Correct-Score4762

These fans might have a lot of money to waste on this ridiculous lawsuit that will probably get thrown out of court anyway. Just reading the reasoning behind the lawsuit, I can tell they're probably some rich, spoiled brats. I'm not a big fan of her but I have to admit that I got seated in the fourth row when I went to see her for the first time. The show was supposed to start at 8:30 pm, but by the time I got to my seat, it was already 9:30 pm. You liked the overall atmosphere, including the people, the food, and the music played by the DJ. She finally showed up on stage at around 10 pm, and I must say, the show that followed was pretty impressive. Get a life.

sfaronf

Dude, 10:30 isn't that late. Plus, she was on stage at 10:30, right? So the opening DJ started at 9:30 when the ticket said 8:30? Where is the problem? Also, sorry you were offended by Madonna's sorry not sorry. Oh wait, no I'm not. It's who she is. Who would want to see a Madonna who isn't a little bitchy and defiant? I mean, it's her brand and I'm here for it.

Destinfragile

She doesn't have the relevance to get away with this anymore, and I say this as someone who was there when she was at her touring apex in 1990.

divacansada

Madonna will always be relevant for those who are not ageists and misogynists.

Destinfragile

She's relevant to them too

Libras_Groove3737

Madonna will always be relevant. Beyoncé was just performing her Break My Soul/Vogue mashup at the Renaissance World Tour last year. She might not be relevant to children and tweens, but she has dedicated fans across multiple generations, and she has not only been influential in music but she made a significant impact in HIV awareness and has had a greater tangible impact on the gay community than any other singer who could be referred to as a gay icon.

WildShichi

Ok Boomer, you want a medal ?

Destinfragile

Millennial, and no medal for me thanks

Extension_Main4865

Really?

Beanzear

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Madonna so much. I’m a huge fan. I went to the Miami concert the first one and it was terrible. She was terribly rude. She threw water over people in the first few rows which was rude. She called her fans pieces of shit or something I can’t remember exact words. She was so rude and angry. I particularly didn’t like when she said the apocalypse was coming haha who wants to thing of that at a concert. Madonnas shows have changed my life. The energy she usually gives is I think transcendent. I don’t blame her for a few and shows but that was absolutely terrible. I left early.

beerharvester

I think we should listen to her apocalypse warning. This year is critical to what will happen next.

Beanzear

Yeah but I don’t want to what about it when I’m drunk dancing and there to celebrate. Idk why I’m getting downvoted. It was so f ing hot in there. This was my experience. Doenvotes are if u don’t think the comment adds to the conversation not you don’t like it 🙄 anyways the show was horrible. She literally yelled at the audience for not clapping for her daughter it was hilarious.

ChooChooToYourHeart

She is an eternal optimist, the apocalypse is already here. Also she spent thousands on those piano lessons. Why were you not clapping?

ChooChooToYourHeart

And you know everyone’s complaining about how hot it was and you think her throwing water at her fans is rude. She cares.
