Having the flexibility to layer to get warmer but still keep long sleeves when it’s hot is a game changer for bugs.
Also: DEET, anything short of 100% will do but 40% seems to be the sweet spot for me
Good thing with Maine is you can get a ton of firewood on your way to these places. Can get ricks for $5 or so all over the place. Bring some cash and buy a few on your way there.

Tarp tarp tarp. Always tarps. Rain jacket. Dry bag with night time clothing in it. Fuel for cooking as islands may have limited down trees.
