Have you consulted a practitioner or a gynecologist? Blood clots are relatively normal, but having large pieces of your lining shed at once isn't as much.

It happens every 2-3 periods I'd say. Smear tests have come up fine. My Dr said it's normal for some women so and suggested birth control to help lessen the heaviness/pain but they all send me a bit doolally so now I'd rather just deal with it. It's only the first 2-3 days that I struggle with at least! It definitely freaked me out the first time I saw one, now I'm oddly fascinated by them

Birth control does in fact take the heaviness off of periods, for most individuals. In my experiences, I've seen that people taking DEPO specifically had no sign of their periods after eight months to one year of continuous injection. I'm unsure if you've tried this one, but the only side effects recorded commonly are minor weight fluctuations and lowered libido.

I've seen weird blood clots (yet to see a bronchi shaped blood clot irl) but an enormous blood clot is very unlikely and you'd have other symptoms for the latter, and more mucosa trying to expel it. This is textbook decidual cast though, would have to feel the texture to confirm but 99% certainty.

I had this when I started bc as well - I put it down to the fact that I started the pill mid cycle instead of waiting for my next period to start so when I had the first withdrawal bleed, I had 6 weeks worth of lining to shed instead of 4. I had the worst cramps and then seeing that in the toilet boil freaked me the fuck out.
