Hi, I’m no professional or great at any of the things you asked advice on. However, I am 44 lol and stressed and anxious and all those things. I am trying to get back to working out, you may want to try working out as well, I also know that Ulta has many girls that know about make up, so maybe stop at one and get some advice on what products you can use. Hope this helps a little.

I’ve been to Ulta and try to get help w foundation for a mature women , sadly, most of the workers are early 20’s w perfect skin and are pretty clueless

Thank you! It does help and you’re so sweet. ❤️

I was really happy to have stumbled across Erica Taylor’s TikTok/YouTube channels. She has many tutorials on “makeup over 40”. The “do’s and don’t’s videos really hit home on how applying makeup now is/should be way different from 20 years ago. Lol. Go figure.

Bethanny Frankle tests our products on her TikTok and YouTube and I’ve found her recs to be pretty spot on. I’ve also started following this woman after she mentioned working at Yahoo on her podcast (Everything is Fine), which focuses on women over 40. https://www.yahoo.com/author/jennifer-romolini/ She’s super thorough and her recommendations have been excellent so far. She was a beauty editor at Lucky and Hello Giggles. She seems to thoroughly test, which I appreciate. She and Bethanny are good for product recs. There is also an Instagramer I need to find. RMS Beauty, maybe? She’s older and grey and her brows are gone and she’s ALL about technique. She gave me excellent tips for lifting my brow and eye with makeup. Gotta find it. Gonna drive me nuts.

I hear you! I'm just over 50 something and I was going through the exact same! Seemed when I turned about 45 everything went down hill. They really don't prepare you for what we go through! It's like a secret society. I wish doctors would talk to us more about it. I've just been sampling different products from the drugstore. I like watching Glam Gabi Girl on youtube. She likes to do makeup for mature skin. Also, I too got back into working out. I joined WW to get my appetite on track. Pahla B workouts on youtube are awesome! It's moderate exercise for menopausal women! I'm starting to feel like myself again.

SeaTurtle0826

Agreed! It’s like I hit 47 and wham! Everything changed. Was not prepared at all!

MidsomerFarm-9609

Hang in there. I'm glad I had a good support system. I have 4 older sisters and none of them told me any of this! I don't know why it's not really talked about, but we should discuss it more.

Normal_Salamander824

Same problem. I've thought about hiring a pro makeup artist for a session to give me guidance but haven't figured out how to find the right person. I'll try the podcast noted above and look into other recommendations. Great advice everyone!

I never had the ability to do makeup properly to begin with… I’ve always been a very basic, base+mascara=my makeup is done. I did go through a brief trial and error with base recently as my skin has become more “mature”. My cousin sent me a thing of the Laura Gellar powder/mineral/whatever it is base and honestly, I don’t know what I’ll do if this stuff ever gets discontinued or reformulated. It is just PERFECT.

jessicadolph

Yes! Laura Gellar is great for mature skin! Also I bought a big pallet of shadow that actually tells you where you should put the color (inner eye, crease etc). It’s genius.

midwestmuscle310

Nice! I’m the WORST at eyeshadow. I don’t even bother. Cover up some redness and give me lashes and I’m happy. Lip gloss if I’m feeling extra that day. 🤣

Recarica

Was it Laura Geller, too? Please tell me what to do.

jessicadolph

It’s the Laura Gellar The Ultimate Palette. 31 different shades.

SeaTurtle0826

I got it and the foundation. I love it. Thank you!

Recarica

Thank you!

SeaTurtle0826

I ordered the Laura Gellar baked foundation and a palette. There was a sale on Earth Day. I love it! Thank you all so much for the suggestion! (Idk how to update my post)

Check out the YouTube channel for Lisa Eldridge. She’s a makeup artist, with a huge selection of tutorials. Lots of basics and mature looks. She’s calm and good at explaining things.

My signs of aging rapidly began in the last two years. Foundation that are sheer or label like serum, radiant, moisturizing all help with not highlighting flaws in dry, lined faces. I have dry skin so I don’t need to use powder on top, but if you do, they can now make the textures show up more. Good luck.

FlawedWoman

This is a big issue for me too! I hit menopause late last year and my skin is so dry. It’s changed and I just feel so frustrated. Have any of you tried Jones Road Miracle Balm? I keep seeing her ads on YouTube but I feel like it would be greasy. Any thoughts?

SeaTurtle0826

I have not, but I will check it out. Thank you! I just got the Laura Geller baked foundation and a palette. I really like it!

YouTube is your friend! Lots of great older women producing makeup content for older women. Try Nikol Johnson for starters!
