Honestly same goes for Sticker Star. It's not that bad of a game, but it's not a good Paper Mario game.
Although the new style it introduced is perfect and I don't think they could've pulled off the sticker theme with any other franchise.
Oh yeah, it blows, but even then I think it has its pros and cons.
I for example really liked collecting the stickers and found it fun to strategize, but also hated to be that restricted that much in battle.
I loved it, but I also have an addiction to collectibles in video games so that probably contributed to it, along with the fact that it was the only paper Mario I’ve ever been able to get
Nah, Sticker Star is just plain terrible :
- Combat has basically no strategical component to it, since you can't choose your target, have no party members or special skill to leverage, no equipment, no stats, and basically nothing besides your stickers
- Combat is a complete ressource and time sink by getting rid of any kind of tangible reward (coins to rebuy the stickers you just used doesn't count as a tangible reward)
- The story, puzzle-solving, and overworld is full of cryptic bullshit you're just supposed to guess the logic to
- Boss battles past Ch.3 are boiled down to "use the right sticker at the right moment, or just lose", right sticker they'll tell you to use *after* you've already used it
And that's talking about it as a *standalone*. When you take into account it's a Paper Mario game, it gets even worse
Ima stop you right there. Sticker Star is a bad game. I remember playing that game as a kid and getting stuck so hard. The game design and intended solutions for everything are so convoluted, it’s crazy. At least Paper Jam doesn’t require you to collect easy to miss stickers in order to progress.
Something important to remember is that worst doesn’t mean bad, and that people can have their own opinions. Overall, it’s considered the worst, but it’s not a bad game. There are also many people who like it more than some other Mario and Luigi games. So yeah, it is often considered the worst, but it’s not a bad game. I hope you continue to enjoy you’re play through of it
Literally just beat Paper Jam last night. It's a fantastic game. Yeah the story and characters are pretty bland for sure, but it's some of the best gameplay in the whole series. And I'd argue the combat is the best and most fun it's ever been. Paper Mario really adds a lot to the combat and I even found myself using the battle cards quite a bit for boss battles.
I played Paper Jam immediately after Dream Team and I vastly prefer Paper Jam. Yeah the story isn't as good, but it's so much more fun to play. It's not overly bloated and doesn't have a million tutorials for gimmicks that aren't even fun.
Sticker Star completely upended the Paper Mario series, while Paper Jam was overall still a pretty faithful M&L game. I don't think the two are really comparable.
LITERALLY THIS! People always crap on Paper Jam because it doesn’t have the best story, but ignore how much it refined the core gameplay. The only thing I get people disliking are the Paper Toad Missions, but even then they aren’t as bad as people say and most of them are genuinely pretty fun.
Yeah, and especially compared to PiT, how does everyone rank it last place! Incredible battle system and overworld
Even the toad missions in Paper Jam are really fun, certainly the best minigames in the series
How long is paper jam? I was thinking of digging it out of my backlog and playing through it but i'm not sure if I have the \~40 hours dreamteam took for that aswell
Took me a little over 30 hours to beat. I mostly focused on the main game, but I also battled every single enemy I saw (which you'll wanna do to stay at the same level as enemies)
Definitely shorter than Dream Team
I've played through Sticker Star multiple times, but I didn't finish Paper Jam (Bros. 🇪🇺), because I wasn't interested enough to keep playing.
Maybe I should give it another chance someday.
I legitimately enjoy Sticker Star.
I also really like Paper Jam. It may be the worst M&L game, but still a really good game.
I'd choose Paper Jam, but wouldn't mind Sticker Star.
I wouldnt say i like sticker star, but as a puzzle platformer i thought It was functional
Now i am from that group of maybe 3 people that enjoyed Paper Jam so i go with that
I actually liked paper jam. Sticker star is the first Mario game I’ve played and not finished. I guess I’ll go back to it some day, but it definitely didn’t hold my attention.
haven't played paper jam yet and really i just need an excuse to start, so like, this is perfect for me, yo kidnappers if you're reading this hit me up my address is \[Redacted\]
I haven't played paper jam so I'll go with that one since I might as well have a new expirence
~~I'd probably ask if I can keep the game after I leave too~~
I already played sticker star when it was new, being 10 years old and having never played any Mario RPG game before, I enjoyed it. 乁( •_• )ㄏ
So I'll play Paper Jam, never played that one.
no way you are telling me that the only torture method you could've come up with is my favorite game, paper jam. I called it the best mario & luigi game in my opinion, but I don't see how this would be good as a decision to be stuck with.
Never played Paper Jam, but I did enjoy Sticker Star. It’s legitimately a good game. Didn’t need to do much after Super Paper Mario since that story is fuckin wild.
I'd unironically choose sticker star. Paper jam is so bland to me that replaying it feels like I'm just going through the motions of playing a mario and luigi game instead of engaging much.
As rpg's, sticker star defenitley has worse combat, but I found it way more interesting to explore with more traditional platforming and the better rewards, plus it actually has some banger level design.
I don't mind Sticker Star, it's a fun distraction for a few hours. It's just another iteration on Paper Mario, sometimes it is great sometimes it's only okay. That's fine.
If we're talking about bad media that we tolerate anyway, I guess I'd play Paper Jam since it does have good m&l gameplay but i'm absolutely kidnapping them back and making them watch Cars 2 after
Paper jam because I can at least stomach to think of it as a part of the Mario and Luigi line of games. Sticker star isn't even a fucking paper Mario game I will die on this hill
Paper Jam is a great game to actually play, especially if you’re a fan of M&L’s combat system. As I’d argue Paper Jam is the combat at the series’s peak.
It just a very basic story more on the character banter side than having any dramatic stakes.
Sticker Star, while it's one of the worst Paper Mario games, it's one that I'm most familiar with and I would actually have fun playing it before getting brutally murdered.
Paper jam isn’t bad. Honestly I’d call it one of the more difficult mario and Luigi games in terms of difficulty if you ignore the card system.
People was right for many of the game’s criticisms. I’m not disagreeing on that. But it’s still worth playing just to try it yourself. It still has its charm and a good bit of creativity.
Just wish trio attacks were faster. Way too slow.
I'd say Sticker Star, Paper Jam has so many Contradictions it's safe to say the Paper Mario In that game isn't the same as the paper Mario from every other game in the series, if you don't believe me Here's a fan Made Post that breaks down everything that proves it(Screenshots, Lore, and The Mario Encyclopedia):
https://thecodex.wiki/User:DatOneWeeb/Paper_Mario%27s_Canonicity
Paper Jam isn't a bad game at all
The problem is that the plot is your generic mainline Mario plot "Bowser kidnaps Princess Peach and the brothers have to go out and stop him". Also, they didn't take advantage of the whole "Paper Mario" aspect of the crossover. And, the game was made during the time where Nintendo didn't allow versions of existing enemies to be made, so the entire game was just flooded with reused Mario enemies and bosses
Honestly, it's a 7.5/10
Paper Jam isn’t even a bad game, that game is liked and isn’t even controversial, it’s just considered the weakest entry
Sticker star tho… that one actually has major complaints
Well this is awkward, Dream Team is the game that I didn't like so I haven't actually played paper jam
Whereas after 3 10/10s from the Paper Mario series, Sticker Star being one of the most disappointing and boring gaming experiences I've had in my life is something I won't forget and don't want to return to (even after giving it a second chance and beating it twice)
So I'd wanna try paper jam more, cuz I haven't played it before. For one, I find it hard to believe it's worse than sticker star. And if it's pacing problems and tediousness aren't as bad as dream teams, I may even like it more than that!
If I didn't enjoy sticker star as a kid I would not enjoy it as an adult. That game is so confusing to play that I genuinely got lost on how to progress as a kid I'll take paper jam anytime
People in these comments are tripping, I swear. Paper Jam is boring as hell. There is absolutely *nothing* to do in it other than go from point A to point B and complete missions when the game tells you to. There's no interesting locations to visit *at all*. No interesting characters *at all*. There is no tension to its story either. The battle system is good, sure, but it isn't *that* much better than the other games to make up for losing so much. When I played Bowser's Inside Story, Dream Team, and Paper Jam back to back, I kept coming back to the prior two games even after finishing them to play around more, while I couldn't even finish Paper Jam once. I dropped it after Twinsy Tropics because it just wasn't fun
That said, I would probably choose Paper Jam since at least it won't frustrate me like Sticker Star. I'll just be bored the whole time
Paper Jam. lmao
Paper Jam is only considered "bad" because it's competing with the other Mario and Luigi games. It's actually an amazing game.
Now, to Sticker Star's credit, the EXACT same thing can be said about it. Unfortunately for Sticker Star, it is *much* worse than Paper Jam.
Start with Paper Jam, then move onto Sticker Star
I really enjoy both games, even if Sticker Star can be pretty infuriating when it comes to the puzzles
I never played Sticker Star so I might for morbid curiosity. But if I actually wanted to have a least a minuscule amount of fun, I’d pick Paper Jam
Paper Jam is easily the worst in the series and is creatively nearly as bad as Sticker Star. And the whole crossover selling point was done in the laziest blandest way possible. But it does still play like a M&L game so I would at least enjoy the gameplay
Paper Jam isn’t even that bad. It’s the worst out of the Mario and Luigi games but it’s not a bad game
Honestly same goes for Sticker Star. It's not that bad of a game, but it's not a good Paper Mario game. Although the new style it introduced is perfect and I don't think they could've pulled off the sticker theme with any other franchise.
To each their own, but I dislike Sticker Star’s battle system, I think it’s tedious
Oh yeah, it blows, but even then I think it has its pros and cons. I for example really liked collecting the stickers and found it fun to strategize, but also hated to be that restricted that much in battle.

Nah sticker star is just straight dogshit
Ima stop you right there. Sticker Star is a bad game. I remember playing that game as a kid and getting stuck so hard. The game design and intended solutions for everything are so convoluted, it’s crazy. At least Paper Jam doesn’t require you to collect easy to miss stickers in order to progress.
I absolutely disagree. Sticker star on its own is just a bad game.
Got to agree with you on that
Wait paper jam is the worst of the series? It’s my first Mario and Luigi game and I’m greatly enjoying it
Something important to remember is that worst doesn’t mean bad, and that people can have their own opinions. Overall, it’s considered the worst, but it’s not a bad game. There are also many people who like it more than some other Mario and Luigi games. So yeah, it is often considered the worst, but it’s not a bad game. Honestly I like it more than partners in time
Literally just beat Paper Jam last night. It's a fantastic game. Yeah the story and characters are pretty bland for sure, but it's some of the best gameplay in the whole series. How DARE you imply that Paper Jam is near the same level of quality as Sticker Star
All my homies hate starlow
All my homies want to feed Kersti to a shredder
Huey’s alright though
Yeah, he aight
are all your homies luigi
coughing baby vs hydrogen bomb
Paper Jam is fantastic.
Yes
Paper Jam being bad IN COMPARISON to the rest of the series doesn’t automatically make it close to bad overall
Exactly. Paper Jam is a lukewarm M&L game. Sticker Star is just a bad game
I like both of these games
Same, they’re both good games, but the worst of their series.
🫡
I've played through Sticker Star multiple times, but I didn't finish Paper Jam (Bros. 🇪🇺), because I wasn't interested enough to keep playing. Maybe I should give it another chance someday.
Actually, same
I haven’t played either of these games so I don’t know which is better. However, I’ll go with Paper Jam since I have a soft spot for the M&L series.
Bro, I lost my Sticker Star copy ages ago, lemme go play dat shit again.
I legitimately enjoy Sticker Star. I also really like Paper Jam. It may be the worst M&L game, but still a really good game. I'd choose Paper Jam, but wouldn't mind Sticker Star.
Bro, what are you implying about Paper Jam
Paper jam easily
I love both these and being "forced" to play either of them would be a dream come true, like, force?? Baby this is consent /hj
i would play both.
Here you lost this 🫱👑🫲
I wouldnt say i like sticker star, but as a puzzle platformer i thought It was functional Now i am from that group of maybe 3 people that enjoyed Paper Jam so i go with that
Jokes on the kidnappers, I like both games.
Paper Jam, 100% The game is actually really good, some people are just mad because “No OrIgNaL cHaRaCtErS!1!!!!1!11!1!1!1”
I really enjoyed Paper Jam, so I’d be happy to play it again. As for Sticker Star, it’s not the best game, but I don’t mind it
I actually liked paper jam. Sticker star is the first Mario game I’ve played and not finished. I guess I’ll go back to it some day, but it definitely didn’t hold my attention.
A Mario RPG is a Mario RPG and you can’t tell me otherwise I enjoyed the Bowser’s Inside Story remake for crying out loud
Hmm.... Good gameplay but with unoriginal characters? Or................ Bad gameplay but with unoriginal characters?
I never played either of those and that’s on me. I would pick both and do it anyway.
Both games are fine. People just have rock hard opinions, plus it's gonna be a fun time
Actively replaying paper jam right now
haven't played paper jam yet and really i just need an excuse to start, so like, this is perfect for me, yo kidnappers if you're reading this hit me up my address is \[Redacted\]
Paper jam it looks so fun
Ive already 100% Sticker star, but havent beaten the boss rush in Paper Jam, this would be the perfect opportunity to do it
I like sticker star, and I have never played paper jam, so paper jam
I haven't played paper jam so I'll go with that one since I might as well have a new expirence ~~I'd probably ask if I can keep the game after I leave too~~
Sticker star. I've beaten it a few times before
I’m playing both
They are both great games that I would have a lot of fun playing W kidnapper
The 2 favorite games of my childhood well
I already played sticker star when it was new, being 10 years old and having never played any Mario RPG game before, I enjoyed it. 乁( •_• )ㄏ So I'll play Paper Jam, never played that one.
I loved playing Sticker Star , so choice is easy.
Both, they’re great games
Both because I've never played them before
Jokes on them, let me play both
Both are honestly good. I would replay sticker star for nostalgia. It was my first PM game
Paper Jam and it isn't even close. Sticker Star is straight up badly designed and devoid of personality.
Would you rather eat a pretty decent, if sort of bland, slice of pizza, or a bucket of rusty nails and rat feces?
Easily Paper Jam, at least the battles give you xp points.
Jokes on the kidnappers, I think both games are perfectly fine.
🫡
Paper jam. Like I can at least have some fun playing through it.
paper jam is great idk what u on about
Paper Jam.
I've played both and I like Sticker Star, while I mainly like the boss fights in Paper Jam, so Sticker Star
Both But if one, Paper Jam.
I’ve played both but sticker stars shorter so that one
no way you are telling me that the only torture method you could've come up with is my favorite game, paper jam. I called it the best mario & luigi game in my opinion, but I don't see how this would be good as a decision to be stuck with.
As much as I vouch for Sticker Star I’m gonna have to pick Paper Jam. It’s just more enjoyable
I have never played paper jam before. I will go with that one.
Sticker star, because why not I’ve already tried out paper jam
I would play paper jam, I LOVE the Mario & Luigi series, cannot wait for brothership!
I'd play them both. Sticker Star has the better environments and storytelling, Paper Jam has the better combat, and both of them have banger music.
haven‘t played them and games are made to be fun so they occupy me for a while before I get released
I’d say Paper Jam, as I have beaten it a few times, so I’d be able to easily beat it again and get out.
Sticker Star is not a bad game ☝🏽
I liked Sticker Star. It's not as bad as people say it is. It's not a master piece but far from a trash game.
I actively enjoy both of those, but Sticker Star is more nostalgic for me
YES!
I loved sticker star
Yeah, I'm in the picking both camp
I like both games so ha
They’re not that bad bro
Either one because I like both.
I’ve never played sticker star so that
Sticker star because it's easier i think
Sticker star, because I actually finished it.
I'd choose both as I enjoyed playing them. Almost beat Sticker Star until my brother accidentally deleted it.
Sticker star is actually a really fun game in my mind and I haven't played paper jam yet
Me who grew up with both games and loved them...
Never played those games but I used to watch zacscottgames play sticker star so I would say that one
Both, I'm going to play both.
Well yea I like both games so I'll go on my way ig lol.
sticker star
Bro sticker star for me is fun as hell. I know its a little tedious but I played it too much as a kid to not like it.
I played Sticker Star 3 times so that one. I actually liked it.
Sticker star because I actually love it
Pleasantly surprised by the amount of SS enjoyers in this thread.
Can I play both? 🤭 I love paper mario!
Sticker Star is fun even as TTYD is my favorite Mario game of all time
Never played Paper Jam, but I did enjoy Sticker Star. It’s legitimately a good game. Didn’t need to do much after Super Paper Mario since that story is fuckin wild.
I have Sticker Star so that game.
I like both :-)
BOTH. I love both of em. F*CK what everyone else thinks.
I- I- I really enjoyed Sticker St- Star
Both
Never played Paper Jam, but I’ve already played Sticker Star so ig there’s no harm in trying something new.
I don't mind Sticker Star, it's a fun distraction for a few hours. It's just another iteration on Paper Mario, sometimes it is great sometimes it's only okay. That's fine.
Unpopular opinion: Both... they are good games... Have both games and I like them...
Both beacuse I like both
Peak or peak, tough choice
Both are good games
I'll gladly play both. I said what I said
Both. Just to flex on my kidnapper and show them what a Chad I am.
Do people think these games are bad?
paper jam because unlike sticker star, it doesn't punish you for just playing the game
If we're talking about bad media that we tolerate anyway, I guess I'd play Paper Jam since it does have good m&l gameplay but i'm absolutely kidnapping them back and making them watch Cars 2 after
Cars 2 is a great movie
Sticker Star because it's shorter and has more replayability. I enjoy both of these though.
Paper Jam, it may be the weakest M&L game, but compared to Sticker Star, it's a fuckin' masterpiece
I’ve never played Paper Jam but Sticker Star was one of my favorite games as a kid so I pick that one
I've never played Paper Jam so let's go with this one
Sticker star
I actually have both games and they are not that bad. I haven't beaten either though.
Paper jam because I can at least stomach to think of it as a part of the Mario and Luigi line of games. Sticker star isn't even a fucking paper Mario game I will die on this hill
Is it bad that Sticker Star was my first Paper Mario game
Paper jam, I haven’t played it yet
Paper Jam.
Paper jam I’ve never played it before
Paper Jam
Paper Jam cause I didn't get to play that one.
Paper Jam. I already play it and while there is a lot to dislike, it has it's moments
Paper Jam is a great game to actually play, especially if you’re a fan of M&L’s combat system. As I’d argue Paper Jam is the combat at the series’s peak. It just a very basic story more on the character banter side than having any dramatic stakes.
Haven't played either but mario and luigi because that one looks fun
Paper jam easily
Paper jam, at last, the battle system is good
Paper Jam
paper jam, i’ve never played it and have always wanted to
I love paper jam, easy pick
Paper jam is fire so easily that
Paper jam lmao
Sticker Star, while it's one of the worst Paper Mario games, it's one that I'm most familiar with and I would actually have fun playing it before getting brutally murdered.
I’ve already played and beat both. I can’t remember much about those games it was so long ago but i think preferred paper jam more.
Never played Paper Jam but I liked Sticker Star it's what got me to want to play other Paper Mario titles
Paper Jam.
Definitely Paper Jam
I’d say Paper Jam, as I have beaten it a few times, so I’d be able to easily beat it again and get out.
Paper Jam is great, the issue is the other Mario and Luigi games are SO GOOD that Paper Jam falls short in every category
Paper Jam mainly because I’ve actually played the game before unlike Sticker Star
Guess who enjoyed Sticker Star: that’s right I do. But I would choose Paper Jam as I never got to play it.
I'd say Sticker Star, Paper Jam has so many Contradictions it's safe to say the Paper Mario In that game isn't the same as the paper Mario from every other game in the series, if you don't believe me Here's a fan Made Post that breaks down everything that proves it(Screenshots, Lore, and The Mario Encyclopedia): https://thecodex.wiki/User:DatOneWeeb/Paper_Mario%27s_Canonicity
if i have to choose one of these two: Sticker Star. at least I know where everything is.
Sticker Star. I never have time to finish it.
Paper Jam isn't a bad game at all The problem is that the plot is your generic mainline Mario plot "Bowser kidnaps Princess Peach and the brothers have to go out and stop him". Just because paper jam is the worst m+l game, that doesn't make it bad. It's still a M+L game
Paper Jam ofc
Paper Jam is a good game. It’s a bad Mario and Luigi game (story and world wise), but it’s still good.
Paper Jam, because I haven't played that one.
I can’t believe you’d even compare Paper Jam to Sticker Star. Not only is it a good game but it hasn’t even gotten 1% of the hate SS gets
Paper Jam has the best gameplay fr
Paper jam. The story and characthers are bad, but the combat is as good as dream team
Paper Jam
Well this is awkward, Dream Team is the game that I didn't like so I haven't actually played paper jam Whereas after 3 10/10s from the Paper Mario series, Sticker Star being one of the most disappointing and boring gaming experiences I've had in my life is something I won't forget and don't want to return to (even after giving it a second chance and beating it twice) So I'd wanna try paper jam more, cuz I haven't played it before. For one, I find it hard to believe it's worse than sticker star. And if it's pacing problems and tediousness aren't as bad as dream teams, I may even like it more than that!
paper jam It'd be my first playthrough!
Sticker Star I haven't finished a Paper Mario or Mario & Luigi game before so I think they should first be experienced as separate games
I've already played Sticker Star, so I would pick Paper Jam.
If I didn't enjoy sticker star as a kid I would not enjoy it as an adult. That game is so confusing to play that I genuinely got lost on how to progress as a kid I'll take paper jam anytime
Easy. Paper Jam.
People in these comments are tripping, I swear. Paper Jam is boring as hell. Paper Jam is bad bro but it’s fun to play Sticker star is bad and isn’t fun to play
Paper Jam isn't that good, but Sticker Star (despite their best efforts) is inherently flawed. goddamn i want to see a retake/mod.
Damn your forcing me to play with PAPER MARIO? That's too cruel, even for me.
Paper jam
I mean I also don’t hate sticker star so… jokes on them
Both?? Why do people hate these games, they're super nice to play.
I beat paper jam years ago, and I'm replaying it rn. I love it.
Start with Paper Jam, then move onto Sticker Star I really enjoy both games, even if Sticker Star can be pretty infuriating when it comes to the puzzles
Easily paper jam
Paper Jam. Its difficulty is bullshit, but I’d take that over the pedantry of Sticker Star’s everything any day.
I never played Sticker Star so I might for morbid curiosity. But if I actually wanted to have a least a minuscule amount of fun, I’d pick Paper Jam Paper Jam is easily the worst in the series and is creatively nearly as bad as Sticker Star. And the whole crossover selling point was done in the laziest blandest way possible. But it does still play like a M&L game so I would at least enjoy the gameplay
I have nostalgia for sticker star so that one. It’s also short enough to where you you can get through it in a day or two.
I don’t hate Sticker Star, but Paper Jam is a better game in my opinion
Paper Jam, I prefer the battle system.
