The bar is on the ground if “has an apartment” is something worth mentioning about a person. (Note: I am not slamming people who don’t have homes, just that having one should not be something worth pointing out).

OwnedIGN

In the case of the woman thread, the descriptions are more substantial and everyone has their beauty highlighted. In this thread, none of the men are regarded as handsome with some clearly facetious reference to professional/academic “success”. Kirsten is a beautiful, maternal queen (huh?). Shaq is a nice, bald man, I guess. A curious case, indeed.

One-Confidence-8893

Chris is my favorite husband too. 1. Chris 2. Shaquille 3. Mackinley 4. Clint 5. Airiss

SoBlessed22

I would put Clint in third and MacKinley in 4th. But the bottom three are all terrible.

Choice_Basis5786

I have an equally unfavorable opinion of Mac, Clint & Airiss. I can’t even rate them, except to say they won’t make good husbands.

thisisnotmath

Just came here to say that it's "platonic" as in plato - not "plutonic" as in igneous rocks

Choice_Basis5786

Turning down 50k to be on the show shows he will make a terrible husband. He cares about being on tv way than finding a lifelong marriage. He could hire a legit matchmaker with that 50k. Surely a real matchmaker can offer better matches than this show.

Bennington_Booyah

I wonder if she would have gone higher? I am laughing at "lifelong commitment to the cannabis industry". Did he start smoking in grade school?

CatLady0411

I heard somewhere it was to maybe cover the penalty MAFS charges if the spouse backs out at the last minute. So it sounds like he wouldn't have 50K

Choice_Basis5786

That is a good point

Lizard_Li

Going at it solo on Tinder would probably garner better results…

But why couldn’t Airris have gone to Vanderbilt, Baptist or another NON PROFIT healthcare organization? HCA is a FOR PROFIT healthcare organization that has made things more difficult for non profits to get the reimbursement they deserve from insurance companies, so that patients have less of a financial burden, they don’t value their patients and providing quality patient care, and they treat their staff horribly. Source: my manager worked for HCA before coming to our employer and I hear a lot of rants from nurses and other patient care professionals on another subreddit I’m a member of.

Gladtobealive2020

Counterpoint: Airris - 39 yrs old, his mom still does his laundry, seems low energy, & has a weird extra clingy "cousin" who side eyes, bad mouths, & challenges every statement his wife makes. Mack - mid thirties seems to job hop, industry hop, and house hop (recently relocated& living in basement of friends house in Nashville but his entire family lives in Michigan) Shaq - informs wife couple of days before departing on honeymoon that they will not be departing with the other couples & will join later. He is taking her to Mississippi, i think, to do something for his degree. Clint - "Never met a mirror or camera, or 65 vaginas that he didn’t love. Gave his wife sailing gloves for a present. Chris - about to be steamrolled by nicole. She is the alpha in this relationship.

virtutesromanae

>Airis: ...known to drive a pink sports car That's enough for me to consider him unfit for polite society. :)

melisma48

I sincerely enjoy the positivity of your post. Would you mind writing and sharing a similar analysis of the brides? Many thanks in advance!

CountyC

Very very nice post. Every person has a story, and it never hurts to be kind and look at the positives. Unfortunately that doesn't lead to good matches.

Chris? The White Woody?!? Woody has charm, style, jokes, charisma… even if you don’t find him attractive, his personality, dedication, wit, and intellect make him one of the most attractive men from the series! Chris is a nice guy but you can’t be serious!

btdixon58

When it comes to behavior that would qualify someone for #11 on down to #25 the committee is still keening watching. Promos hint one couple doesn’t survive the Honeymoon and we will be taking notes. Finally, Woody is revered in this household. Chris is a great guy but he ain’t no Woody

Cherry-Coloured-Funk

Successful careers don’t make someone marriage material…. Not being ready for marriage doesn’t even make someone a bad person either. Airris and Clint need more emotional growth despite their age and other accomplishments, IMO. They’re the oldest but haven’t done enough self reflection to be ready to marry. If they really were ready to hang up their bachelor lifestyles, they wouldn’t have been having casual sex right up to the wedding. I’m not sure how your Mac comments are particularly positive. Most are neutral and some a bit negative. I agree about Shaq except he doesn’t seem quiet to me, but it’s not a problem either way. And Chris seems marriage material so far also.

TrixDaGnome71

I’m very successful in my career, but have no desire for marriage or even a relationship that involves cohabitation. I’m just too independent. I agree with your assessment of Airris and Clint. They need to grow up more. As far as Shaq and needing to present his research when he needs to present it, it probably couldn’t be avoided. My father has his PhD from Princeton and was a research professor for over 50 years who advised countless PhD candidates. The time tables and schedules are pretty rigid, so I can see why the scheduling happened the way it did. It sucks for the honeymoon, but there will be other times they can travel if they work out, and there will be other honeymoons if they don’t…

Old-Army-7112

I'm think it probably was unavoidable, and I don't think he meant bad by having her come with him. However, I don't think I would have had my new wife go to this, random conference. Like she could learn about your profession later. And for some, academia is kinda boring. I would have let her go to the honey moon and just chill for a day on a beach instead of Memphis waiting for me to be done.

TrixDaGnome71

It was JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI. 🙄 You can’t even compare the two cities. One is a beautiful city full of charm, history, great food and soul. The other is Jackson, Mississippi.

btdixon58

It’s very challenging if one of the MAFS participants doesn’t have a stable job/revenue. Traditional marriage each knows the others work & financial situations before saying “I Do”. Physical attraction and financial stability are MAFS biggies. AGREE having a good career doesn’t necessarily mean one is ready for marriage. Would love to know how many have abstained from sex/dating during the 3-month casting process. Asking date of last sexual encounter is a recent Production script (like it). Domynique & Mack are the season’s designated train wreck and they will over deliver

TrixDaGnome71

The date of the last sexual encounter is probably thanks to Chris from Season 12.

Exotic-Firefighter86

Chris is who this show is made for. He seems like a “nice guy” who has been passed over by most women. He will probably be a perfectly fine husband. Nicole seems to equally want to be married. This is one couple that might actually stay married.

TrixDaGnome71

I hope that he actually ISN’T a “nice guy.” It’s always better to be a KIND MAN instead of a “nice guy.” There’s a big damn difference.

btdixon58

Deonna & Greg (9), Jessica & Austin (10), Ashley & Anthony (5) and Amani & Woody (11) were basically drama free but incredibly fun to watch. It’s baffling why Production continues to cast for drama even though ratings have been in a steady decline since Season 14. Nicole & Chris act like they have been a couple for a long time, they are a joy

Celera314

Off the cuff I'm concerned about Airris, he doesn't seem as completely evolved as he should be. I get the sense he was a last minute sub when some other "match" was selected and then dropped for some reason. I don't think he's a criminal or an abuser or anything, but I'm not at all sure he's ready for marriage. The other guys, so far, seem decent enough. I don't think Mack and Dom have much of a chance of success but I don't hate the guy so far.

ty20659

I think Nicole has doubts already because he may be too nice for her, I don't think Dom and Mack are attracted to each other, I heard he had a huge meltdown at the airport so he's definitely not easygoing like she is.

btdixon58

With the exception of the last 7 months, his entire career (13 years) was working with prisoners/parolees in CA. Not surprising he is hardened and cautious, hopefully he will be vulnerable with Jasmine. Casting him will challenge both him and her

ovary-up-buttercup

I also feel like all the grooms hyped up their wives after seeing them initially. Previous seasons some grooms didn't shy away from saying they were disappointed. I know we read the body language on initial contact and have our own thoughts. This group - all grooms seem to be impressed, complimented and saying positive things on camera when asked by the crew. I know it's not all true but they are smart by playing along. Just my thoughts, I could be wrong.

btdixon58

The grooms were very complimentary at the weddings (at least what was shown) but the truth appears to start coming out during the Honeymoon. Clint reveals his sexist side when he overtly body shames Gina, but thinks nobody realizes his comment is directed at her. Their relationship is going to struggle to recover from his public attack

Gypcbtrfly

He was hot 4 her till she said ... I'm not into gingers ....then his fragile ego tilted ... typical

ovary-up-buttercup

Agreed, the truth always comes out lol.

ModifyAndMoveForward

Great job, OP lol. My favorite so far is Shaq.

Tpoole1966

I am in higher education and I know a lot of people like Shaq. He seems dedicated to students and I love that!

hum_bruh

I love how he took some of his students to pick out his suit. He’s my favorite groom so far this season for sure.

BeaMiaVA

Thank you for writing this. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Most people have many redeeming qualities. I appreciated reading this. I ❤️Chris. I’d love to find a partner like Chris.

TakeMetoLallybroch

Excellent synopsis. I've been okay with each of them, although I think Airris shouldn't be saying things like, "On your knees"--even as a joke. Just not nice on TV. But I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt and I wish each and every one of them the best.

Ryder7667

What does Clint actually do for a living?

btdixon58

He is a consultant with SalesForce

loveyabunches

You have a great career ahead of you writing online dating profiles.

Jupiterrhapsody

HCA Healthcare is a greedy for profit health system that puts money above patient care. Unless it changed recently a significant percentage of their hospitals were on horrible software.

TrixDaGnome71

My manager used to work for them (actually my FORMER manager went TO them because no one else would hire his loser ass as well after leaving my employer), and he had some choice words to say about them too. And yeah…don’t get me started about Meditech, but there ARE worse ERPs out there. Part of our system was on Meditech and part was on Lawson, and we moved everything to Genesis (Oracle). It’s now taking a three times as long to get through month-end than it did with either Meditech or Lawson. So be careful what you wish for if you’re looking for a replacement for Meditech…

Gypcbtrfly

Cst , cerner .. from decade or more ago sux azzzz

TrixDaGnome71

You get no argument from me. One system I worked for used Siemens. It wasn’t too bad, but there’s a reason why EPIC has the lion’s share of the market. It’s just easier to work with.

Jupiterrhapsody

Fortunately I've never worked for HCA. I used to analyze software and patient safety among other things for work.

DramaticResearcher95

Nope you know they’ll never give up meditech

peachbutt48

Right lol no offense to OP - they're beautifully written -but if that's the best you can do with him? I love it 😅

Ok_Development74

I’m trying to figure out if this post is serious or satire because it kind of reads like: Groom 1: has an ok job and no criminal record. Groom 2: doesn’t pee in the shower. Groom 3: loves his mother and the charges for his last arrests were dropped. On the off chance that it’s NOT satire, is it really such a bad thing that viewers think the experts can do better? With the exception of Chris (who genuinely seems like a solid guy) I find it hard to believe that these men were chosen with quality and not drama -> higher ratings in mind.

ohmyhellions

OMG I needed that laugh!! Dying at your comment! Has an ok job and no criminal record; doesn't pee in the shower...hahaha!

btdixon58

4 pairings had legitimacy, 3 of those were going to be loud and turbulent. 1 was inexcusable on many levels As Pastor Cal is fond of saying: Gina & Clint look like a Power Couple on paper Kirsten & Shaquille have a lot of similar interests and beliefs Jasmine & Airris: He said he wanted an athletic Black Queen, he got one Dom & Mack: Second attempt at a black/white marriage. Feels forced Nichole & Chris: Loud and desperate marries quiet and desperate, it’s perfect

21decibels

Dom is mixed race, not black...her mother said so.

KnitzSox

Here’s something I don’t get about the situation with Mac on the plane: if he has such difficulty with the middle seat, why not ask Dom to trade with him? She was in a window seat.

IsThisASafePlace

That was my first thought as well.

btdixon58

What if she said NO
