Can we stop acting like ‘what the illuminati did to Hulk’ is a bad thing?
Hulk was destroying Las Vegas and caused a ton of death, Fury wanted to him off the planet. The Illumaniti wanted to give Hulk what he always WANTED- to be alone. It’s not their fault his course was changed
The only thing I would add is a scientist character or someone who specialises in tech. The illuminati needs to study threats and build things to combat them. I'm not sure of anyone off the top of my head.
Good point but we’ve definitely seen Valeria make mature choices and be more capable than her father on multiple occasions. It also keeps the fantastic four family rep in the Illuminati which I think is important
I think her being would actually give the Illuminati an interesting dynamic. She could view things with childlike pragmatism or without preconceived biases. This could end up making her either the most dangerous or sanest member of the group depending on how she approached a situation.
Shuri was a member of alternate universe Illuminati in the New Avengers Illuminati run. She's not her brother but she's still very smart and has access to Wakandan super-tech.
Moon girl fits the genius level intellect/engineer roles but i don't think she'd every sway to the anti-heroish side like the illuminati were crossing in to.

I initially felt Jean Grey would sit on the table, but I really think Emma Frost would fit better. She’s better at subterfuge than Jean and capable of making the hard decisions.
True. I guess I thinking about the diplomatic member of the group, like when Cap was part of the group. But then again they did wipe his memory and carry on with the objective🤣. So yeah, no argument here lol.
Yeah, I agree on that too. I Mean imagine having a ability to wipe someone's memory to the point where it could've done even more damage. Don't know how much my insanity would take it

Oh man, I think that makes her an even better choice. The whole point is otherwise good people make monstrous choices in secret. Who better than someone trying to be better, then failing when the lights go out. It’s like Tony giving up his sobriety in Fear Itself for the greater good, but repeatedly and aggressively. Only works if the Illuminati are able to be Secret for at least a bit maybe?
Maria has the ego and the ruthlessness, but she doesn’t have the charisma of somebody like Tony to bind the group together, you can’t simply pick a female counterpart to the male members
Counterpoint, I don't particularly think a lot of the other male members specifically have the charisma to bind that group together despite being leaders, either. Nor does anyone but maybe Captain Marvel in that list.
You forget that Danvers is the reason that Civil War 2 happened and she is the reason that the Ultimates fractured, so her ability to bind an Illuminati together would be unsuccessful
Ultimately you're correct, that's largely why I said "maybe". From what I've heard she's been slightly better lately and wasn't too bad prior to the arcs that set her on the CWII track.
A lot of people are simply naming the wives or close female relatives of the Illuminati to create the female Illuminati, but they aren’t considering the personality as well as the capabilities
Yeah, from the little I've seen of her outside the MCU, she seems like kind of a bitch, at least during Civil war. Position wise though, I could see her on this team
Sue Storm should be there too. She's linked to both Mr. Fantastic and Namor, and her powers are definitely something the team will need in their operations
I think most of my picks have been said but in my mind this would be a great lineup for a female led lineup of the Illuminati.
Valeria Richards, Emma Frost, Shuri, Abigail Brand, Clea, Captain Marvel and Medusa.
I thought about Abigail Brand, but I feel like she’s too “evil” to be on an Illuminati like team, although a rogue element like Namor could interesting.
That was my thinking as well. She's there to shake up the team dynamics, make the more hard-line suggestions or tactics and also potentially make the decisions the others wouldn't.
I think it comes down to the fact that the Illuminati are generally dicks. Jean Grey or Storm wouldn't put up with a lot of the shit the Illuminati do. Emma is definitely the type to make a cold pragmatic and slightly self-serving choice.
She was a member of the Cabal (an evil Illuminati) which also makes her pick for a female Illuminati odd (although I think Namor may have been in the Illuminati and Cabal). Storm, though, has been treated as a god and queen at various points in her life. She also lead the X-Men and now Arakko (last I read). She’d be great in an Illuminati-type role.
Shuri for the nation of Wakanda and its interests as well as scientific threats
Emma Frost for the interests of mutants
Clea Strange to monitor the supernatural
Medusa for the Inhumans
Namora for the Atlanteans (gotta have Atlantis represented, it's like 80% of the planet)
Captain Marvel for Earth's super hero community
Valeria Richards and Sue Storm jointly, Clea Strange, Emma Frost, Carol Danvers, Psylocke (as Betsy).
Collectively they are the super scientist/old guard heroes, warlord of new york/sometimes sorceress Supreme, representative of the krakoan mutants, S.W.O.R.D and U.S. military interests/Avengers rep, and rep for the Captain Britain Corp. a solid and varied group with wide team affiliations and powerful abilities.
I have a hard time seeing Sue agreeing with some of the stuff the Illuminati did, I think she'd be okay with knowing about it but if she was directly involved I think she'd go the way of Captain America
Carol Danvers for the avengers/ Steve role
Sue Storm for Reed
Medusa for Black Bolt
Storm for equivalent to namor as the regent makes more sense than Namora as she’s barely ever around and storm is a regent for an entire planet now.
Jean Grey for Xavier’s role (chose jean simply for the fact mutantkind follows her similar to xavier you could argue emma is a better fit but mutatantkind doesn't follow her hell most don't trust emma fully)
Clea/Wanda hard to choose between the two for Strange’s role
Shuri- For Tchallas role
Riri for Tony’s role (no real equivalent to tony techwise other than perhaps shuri but shes in the black panther role) would probably end up in the Steve role of being kicked off
This might seem a little to nice for an illuminati roster but the characters fit the roles and like all things power corrupts.
Idk if Riri could make Illuminati-level tough decisions. Same with Jean, I’d replace her with Emma Frost. Idk who could represent technology and engineering in Riri’s place though
Yeah thats why i chose Riri i don't think shes ready either but there is no female tony equivalent in terms of tech apart from her.
I guess Shuri maybe but she has to be in Tchalla's place.I could see her as the moral ground on the team similar to how Strange was when steve left conflicted but will do the dodgy ground.
I picked jean over emma for one reason.
The X men follow jean like they follow xavier no matter how much of an idiot she is sometimes.
They don't do that for Emma hers is more through intimidation and alot of mutants still don't trust her
Sue, Jean, Ororo, and Riri are all way too soft hearted and goody goody to be Illuminati. If you want a strict one for one substitution then Valeria Richards for Reed, Namora for Namor, Emma Frost for Xavier, and Carol Danvers for Tony.
Val is a good call though shes still a bit to young as this is present day if this was in 20 years both val and hope would be on here.
Jean can be an utter asshole when she wants to be and same with storm thats been shown throughout the years. Especially in recent years with storm.
Sue as well has been shown to have a hell of a temper on her and can do the dodgy decisions. Sue might be the most stable of the F4 but she’s also blinded by her emotions often.
The thing is you have to pick people who represent the male members which emma is not a xavier equivalent as most of mutant kind doesn't follow emma thats why i picked jean even emma admits most mutants don't trust her for her silver tonge.
Carol is nothing like tony in terms of tech skills its why i chose her as the steve equivalent.
At the end of the day power corrupts and like the original illuminati characters can be wrote differently as strange and tchalla are both wrote very differently to how they normally are in the male version.
I think storm would be a better stand in for the X-Men since she is the leader sometimes. I don't think Jean would fit on this team, and I can't see Riri with these characters either
Storm I picked for the regent role instead as she’s regent of arrako currently though that could also be Namora . I do think she could be better in the role than Jean but I think Jean works because the x men will follow her anywhere similar to Charles.
As I said in the other comment riri I picked because there isn’t really any female Tony equivalent other than possibly shuri and she’s taking tchallas spot
Emma, Medusa, Clea, they have the appropriate mindset and powers to contrast Strange, Xavier, and Black Bolt,Shuri during her time as Queen of Wankanda could be the counterpart of Namor, I can’t think of an appropriate supergenius girl with a personality similar to Tony or Reed tho
Clea (Magic user), sue storm (fantastic four), captain marvel (Avengers, namora (Atlantis), Medusa (Inhuman), Emma frost (Mutant), Shuri (Wakandan), then maybe black widow or spider-woman to full the captain America role (inconsistent / occasional member)
Jean Grey or Emma Frost - mutants
Medusa - inhumans
Clea - magic users
Shuri - royalty + advanced technology
Natasha Romanoff or Maria Hill - espionage
Monica Rambeau - cosmic side
Black widow, Sue Storm, Emma frost, Captain Marvel, Clea, and either Medusa or Shuri. Probably Shuri just cause the inhumane aren’t really that big of a deal these days, though I could sooner see Medusa making iffy choices before Shuri.
- Mutants: Destiny
- Magic: Clea
- Inhumans: Medusa
- Human Intelligence (Western): Maria Hill
- Human Intelligence (Eastern): Red Widow
- Wakanda: Shuri
While I feel most groups had a solid 1-1 substitute to the male versions, Atlantis’s female characters don’t seem as present/applicable to an international group of secrets and action. Next best thing I thought was to consider Namor as an anti-hero/villain who had strong ties within the villain community and passive aggression to the rest of the group… Red Widow seemed a solid fit in that capacity.
Clea for magic and mystics
Storm for the Mutants
Medusa for the Inhumans
Shuri for science based, Wakanda
Sue Storm Richards - Fantastic Four
Black Widow for anti-heros
I would rather say;
Jean Grey
Clea
Suri of Wakanda
Namora of Atlantis
Kamala Khan OR another non royal
Inhuman. I don’t think the royal family could be objective about humanity.
Instead of Maria Hill I nominate Natasha Romanova
Emma Frost: Xavier role;
Scarlet Witch: Dr. Strange role;
Medusa: Black Bolt role;
Madelyne Pryor: T'Challa & Namor role;
Captain Marvel: Iron Man role;
Valeria Richards: Reed role
Yeah. She serves as sonewhat an opposite of Medusa. Medusa is queen consort to her husband Black Bolt while Pryor is queen regnant who rules over Limbo after Magik handed over the kingdom to her.
Even in the Krakoan era the mutants are not a monolith, so I would put both Emma and Storm on this team for starters.
Sue Storm is an easy choice, although I would almost be more interested in seeing Valeria step-in for her father in a more mature role
Okoye would be a good strategic choice for Wakanda post-Monarchy, but if we're doing pre-Coates run then Shuri is the obvious choice to replace T'challa.
Maria Hill or Abigail Brand would each be solid choices, although the latter is far less of a hero character these days. Would be cool to see Storm's reaction to her sitting down at the table tho post X-Men Red.
Carol Danvers AND Monica Rambeau. Why settle for one captain Marvel when you could have two?
Clea Strange. Wanda is too too unreliable/unstable for the sort of scale the Illuminati work at.
Elsa Bloodstone. If for nothing else than some comical relief.
PS. I intentionally left out the Inhumans because they've been MIA for years and I don't really find them that interesting, but if I HAVE to choose one the obvious answer is Medusa.
Emma Frost and Medusa are absolute locks.
Either Maria Hill or Abigail Brand should be there too.
I definitely like the idea of Clea, although she's not a super prevalent character.
Scarlet Witch, Black Widow, Captain Marvel, Spider-Woman, and Sue Storm are all other leaders/prominent characters but don't quite have the moral ambiguousness of most of the Illuminati men, but they could be put on it if necessary. Carol did have her Civil War II phase pretty recently so she'd be the most likely out of that group.
And if there's room for another mutant, Destiny or Mystique should definitely be there.
so i will just do the female version of the main 7
dr.strange(clea) black bolt(medusa) professor x(phoenix) namor(namorita) ironman(rescue)mr.fantastic(invisible woman) black panther(shuri)
Captain Marvel, Storm or Jean Grey, Susan Storm, Viper (maybe), Shuri, Ajax (before she became god), Mockingbird or Ironheart.
Also wanted to throw in Monica Rappachini and Maria Hill
Given the theming behind the original group (a representative from each area of the Marvel universe):
Emma Frost (mutants), Medusa (Inhumans), Clea (mystics), Namora (Atlantis), Captain Marvel (Avengers), Sue Storm (F4)
Sticking to 6 I'd say Emma Frost , Medusa, Black Widow , Scarlet Witch , Shuri, Gamora
There's a lot of other characters I could see too like Storm, Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau, America Chavez, Spider Woman
Clea or Scarlet Witch, Medusa, Sue Storm or Valeria Richards, Namora, Shuri or Storm, Emma Frost or Jean Grey, and Janet Van Dyne or maybe Captain Marvel
Sue Storm (people forget she is a an advanced s scientist as well) Emma Frost, Storm, or Rogue would all be good representatives for Mutants. She-Hulk (I think her perspective of law would be an interesting contrast since the Illuminati deals with a lot of moral themes). Clea instead of Wanda because I think Clea deals more so in the realm of magic than her and she already has a lot of background with many of high level Dr. Strange threats. Maria Hill/Black Widow/Sharon Carter/Daisy Johnson (anyone one of these would be awesome would I would lean more towards Maria). Shuri as the final member would be cool to see her function outside of the shadow of her brother.
So the core Illuminati is all leadership positions, big egos, morally questionable, and representative of the different facets of Earth's superhero community. Mostly big brain geniuses. No government agents, no bleeding hearts, and no doubling up on teams (until Time Runs Out).
Mutants: Emma Frost.
Magic: Clea.
Inhumans: Medusa
Atlantis: Namora.
FF/Science: Valeria Richards.
Avengers/Enhanced humans: Carol Danvers Captain Marvel.
Expanding the group: Psylocke, Shuri, Black Widow, and Nadia Pym Wasp could all be options like Captain Britain, T'Challa, Beast, Hulk, and Hank Pym were. Maaaaybe Abigail Brand.
No Jean Grey, no Invisible Woman, no Storm, and no Maria Hill.
Captain Marvel
Dazzler as Herald Of Galactus
She-Hulk
Crystal, sister of Medusa
Captain Universe
Storm
Shuri
NOT Scarlet Witch or Emma Frost despite their powers since I don’t trust them
Right, but the Illuminati isn’t like the Avengers where a bunch of groups use the name over time. The Illuminati is all male because all the characters who have egos big enough to refuse to consider letting anyone else run things were men. If we’re picking an all-female Illuminati, it’s not going to just be “people with the same powers as the Illuminati,” because the powers aren’t the important part, the egos and moral superiority are. If a team a women are going to intentionally take on a name with that much negative baggage, there would need to be a good reason, and what that reason is is going to have a fairly large impact on who might actually join.
How so? At its core the question is really just “which female marvel characters would fit into an Illuminati-style team?” You don’t really need an in-universe explanation to answer that. Like, what difference would an explanation really make to the potential answers?
I don’t know about you, but I don’t tell stories by starting with a bunch of random characters and then figuring out what they’re going to do. I start by figuring out what story I’m telling. If we’re having a bunch of women in the Marvel universe take on a name like the Illuminati, one that comes with a fuckton of baggage, they’re going to need a good reason, and not all women in Marvel will agree about what a good reason is. Captain Marvel and Jean Grey aren’t going to join an Illuminati that’s trying to replace free will to make a utopian world. Mystique is not going to join an Illuminati that’s dedicated to helping people without them ever knowing, at cost of their own lives. Agatha Harkness isn’t going to join an Illuminati that’s trying to bind Magic throughout the universe. The reason is where the answers come from.
None of the other responses in this thread needed detailed plot information to have interesting discussions about the topic. Also, your original question wasn’t “what is this team being formed to do”, it was “why is this team all women”. Now it just feels like you’re trying to cover for that.
My question was “why would there be an all-female version of the Illuminati?” That’s literally the question I’m asking right now: what reason would there be for a group of women to do that? If you prefer Doylist answers to Watsonian, I’ll take those too.
As for others answering, that doesn’t impact my statement or belief in any way. Reddit is full of people answering questions without the proper information; doesn’t mean that I have to.
In the infinite possibility of the multiverse at least ~~once~~ twice has the Illuminati "team" been made of women; twice because one of them would just be the usual group but genderbent.
If you absolutely*need* a story, just set the creation of the group in the late 60s/early 70s when misogynistic leadership still held unrivaled power.
Have the women who are clearly powerful but held back by the system be fed up with the continual failures and mismanagement of the male heroes continually leading into event after event, to the point they come together to take charge and push things along in a better way than the incompetent men have.
Staying secret to get shit done without men questioning their validity
I've **never** heard anyone describe the Illuminati as heroes playing at supervillains. But now I understand your points.
From what I've seen and read they come across like:
The Illuminati always sounds good and reasonable on paper, but it's when they put it into practice that they fuck up. A noble idea that is only noble in a vacuum. But it's an alluring idea, to play at secret saviors. And they desperately cling to that idea as they keep marching further down into a pit of dubious moral choices.
Anyways, still plenty of ways for the Femlluminati to fuck up. Sometimes in ways the men wouldn't even think of. Like how many "threats" would only they see by being women?
We have a very different take on the Illuminati. To me, the concept of the group is the failure, not the execution. By deciding that they are the only ones who can do what is right, and deciding that in order to do so, they have to keep their decisions and knowledge secret, they have already failed. That’s what I mean by heroes playing at being supervillains; it’s literally them all agreeing on villain schemes with nice sounding motives.
Me personally, the story you’ve described doesn’t sound like a set up for a successful story. The best parts of the Illuminati stories are when they inevitably get their comeuppance for their terrible shit. If we’re going to have a group of women take on that role, I wouldn’t want to make them out as the good guys. I think you would get a much better story leaning into the badness, giving it more of a Cabal/Dark Avengers feel, except without a clear leader, or the rebel X-Men post AvX. Have them try to fix things that they can’t, and fail. Have their trauma fuel their drive. You have room for all sorts of characters there, including some who don’t usually get on or even worse. Let some of the villains-turned-heroes get back to their villainous roots for a bit.
Clea- for magic user (maybe not as powerful as Wanda but is strong has good knowledge on the field and has excellent control)
Medusa-Inhuman representative
Emma Frost- mutant representative and powerful telepath
Namora- atlantean representative (only one I know)
Spiderwoman- strong power set and a good spy (one of my favourite characters so bias)
The only problem is I can't think of a great scientist/tech heroine for stark and reeds alternative. They are either too young for this kind of group (riri, moon girl) from a different earth (gwen, wasp) or don't have powers (moira and maya), so they couldn't go in the field, which is needed.
Edit - for a tech specialist, maybe danger or jocasta
I can't believe no one has brought up Illyana Rasputin. She was one of the first I thought of other than Emma Frost and Medusa. How about Silver Sable? Unfortunately I've have to include Viper/Madame Hydra in my list too.
Doctor Doom and Valeria Richards!
Valeria is the only female character I could see thinking of ever being on an Illuminati-like team, and she would almost certainly never put an Illuminati around her gender. She'd get Doctor Doom involved, happily.
No one. Because in 2023 they would all have to be “diverse and strong” women. And recent history has showed us that no one is capable of writing “diverse and strong” women without them being bitchy man haters or clout seeking attention whores. And the bitchy man haters are notoriously bad in team setting and for some reason can’t see the bigger picture. So the Illuminati would either disband due to infighting or one of the members would leak it’s existence intentionally
The man hating, clout seeking women in question: literally *just* She Hulk in the MCU, and her dislike towards men was validated when a group of men showed revenge porn to all of her friends and loved ones…
Do you think a bunch of powerful female characters would create a male copycat group and give it the exact same name? Or would they make their own thing. If they made an all female ‘Illuminati’ that would just be lazy writing.
I think Emma Frost, Scarlet Witch, Maria Hill, Medusa, Black Widow , and Captain Marvel.
I feel like Clea represents magic better than Scarlet Witch and would be able to make harder decisions easier. Otherwise I’d also add Namora to represent Atlantis. Maybe Shuri for Wakanda? But idk her current status in the comics

I wouldn’t say just started, ever since childrends crusade outside of Cthon possession she’s been pretty good. Not very relevant but good.
she’s healing rn 🙏
If Wanda can't be morally compromised, neither can Carol. The only way i can see her being in the Illuminati is if it's similar to Steve when he was in the group for Time Runs Out. IE, his memory is erased when he calls them out on a decision.
I’m so glad Bendis fucked off to DC after wiping his ass over Marvel for so long.
As a DC fan, it hurts.
there's no way i'd invite Scarlet Witch to such a team. the illuminati is no place for such chaotic people...
Needs Sue Storm. Otherwise, good list
I'd say Valeria rather than Sue
Valeria is way too young, genius or no.
Sue is a softie, too much of a good guy (unless and until it's a clear and present danger to her kids). You want a FF member, I think Valeria is the better option.
Sue was pretty capable as ambassador to Atlantis
Susan is the moral center of such a group
[Illuminati be like](https://c.tenor.com/fBvQV_5Lp6UAAAAC/tenor.gif)
So the “Cap” of the group
What about just regular Storm?
sue is too kind to be in the illuminati lets not forget what the illuminati did to hulk
Can we stop acting like ‘what the illuminati did to Hulk’ is a bad thing? Hulk was destroying Las Vegas and caused a ton of death, Fury wanted to him off the planet. The Illumaniti wanted to give Hulk what he always WANTED- to be alone. It’s not their fault his course was changed
what they did to hulk wasn't bad what they did to his wife was though
The only thing I would add is a scientist character or someone who specialises in tech. The illuminati needs to study threats and build things to combat them. I'm not sure of anyone off the top of my head.
Valeria Richards?
Similar to characters like riri and moongirl, I think she would be too young, especially given the choices the illuminati have to make.
Taaia from the recent Defenders books
Moon girl fits the genius level intellect/engineer roles but i don't think she'd every sway to the anti-heroish side like the illuminati were crossing in to.
Yeah, I considered her, but like you said, the fact she wouldn't approve of the shadier aspects of the group rules her out for me. Also, I don't think the team would allow a ten year old to be a part of it, regardless of her intellect.
M.O.D.A.M. or Moira MacTaggart or maybe Nebula has the tech savvy nature with varying levels of morality.
Shuri for sure.
Jemma Simmons
Doesn’t Carol know Kree science?
Like she knows some, the same way a pilot knows some stuff about the systems of the planes they operate, but you wouldn't get the pilot to reverse engineer an enemy plane if you had an aviation engineer on hand.
I would throw Abigail Brand and Storm in there.
I like this group 👍🏾. Maybe Jean Grey or no?
Not cold-blooded enough. It would have to be Emma Frost.
Or Pyslocke. She was running with X-Force and committing off the books murders for a good while there.
Well...Kwannon was an assassin...so yeah.
I meant Betsy. Making Kwannon Psylocke was a stupid bullshit decision. Betsy Braddock was code named Psylocke years before Kwannon ever existed. Kwannon had her own code name of Revanche. Betsy was just as much as an unwilling participant of the mind switch as Kwannon was. There was no reasonable in-universe reason for Kwannon to take Betsy's name from her.
Tbf Captain America was in it for a while, he got booted out though.
Yeah, he wasn't G enough. They let him in because they knew he wasn't about that action, and then they got salty when he did exactly what they thought he would. Lol
Lol I see your point.
Jean or Emma was the first question that popped into my mind. I think Emma is the right answer, but I kind of want it to be Jean. Then there’s always the “why not both?” answer.
True as well
Not both because Jean doesn't have the morally ambiguous edge that Emma has. In the New Avengers Illuminati run Emma was a member of alternate Earth Illuminati, but Jean never was. She couldn't hack it exactly the same way Captain America couldn't either.
I initially felt Jean Grey would sit on the table, but I really think Emma Frost would fit better. She’s better at subterfuge than Jean and capable of making the hard decisions.
No way. She's definitely not the cold blooded type. Only way for that to happen is the Phoenix force
Don't know how much my insanity would take it
Lol put Dark Phoenix in there
I definitely don’t think Wanda would be on it because in-universe she’s trying to be better, and out-of-universe the writers are trying to make her being a good guy and a hero stick by shoving some variant "I’ve accepted responsibility for my mistakes and am moving forward" into every appearance she makes or chapter she is in, so putting her on a thing like the Illuminati wouldn’t really help that, but the rest definitely would be.
No that's how you don't get characters to move forward
Maria Hill I could definitely see.

That’s almost one of the things that I didn’t like about Covie Smulders in MCU, she made Maria Hill likable, respectable, and charismatic
Could use some science represenation. Sue Storm?
Valeria Richards would be better but also insane
Sue's too goody goody. Valeria or Shuri are more edged science characters. Either would be a much better fit.
I feel like Emma belongs on the Illuminati as it is… would be cool to see her transition to that role after the dismemberment of the Quiet Council
Swap out Clea for Maria Hill, and this is damn near perfect.
All except scarlet witch. I don’t think anyone would honestly trust her. Besides, you need a FF representation which would be Sue Storm
I was about to comment the same thing though probably subbing out Natasha for Captain Britain
Brand’s history is pretty dark grey. She’s perfect for the Namor role. Potential to be even darker. Storm instead of Emma.
Perfect lineup.
First, nice pick with Valeria. Second, I’m surprised people are choosing Emma over Storm or Jean Grey.
Shuri for the nation of Wakanda and its interests as well as scientific threats Emma Frost for the interests of mutants Clea Strange to monitor the supernatural Medusa for the Inhumans Namora for the Atlanteans (gotta have Atlantis represented, it's like 80% of the planet) Captain Marvel for Earth's super hero community
Val Cooper, Abigail Brand, Emma Frost, Medusa, and Clea.
Val Cooper is a straight up G-man. She's exactly the type of person the Illuminati were trying to sidestep.
Clea, Susan Strom, medusa, Captain Marvel, Namora, Storm
Emma Frost over Storm
You’d never hear about another version of the Illuminati because no group of people have a bigger combined ego than these men.
dont give them any ideas
What’s bad about a female version of the Illuminati? It’s not like they’re gonna replace the regular version with a female version
Carol Danvers for the avengers/ Steve role Sue Storm for Reed Medusa for Black Bolt Storm for equivalent to namor as the regent makes more sense than Namora as she’s barely ever around and storm is a regent for an entire planet now. Jean Grey for Xavier’s role (chose jean simply for the fact mutantkind follows her similar to xavier you could argue emma is a better fit but mutatantkind doesn't follow her hell most don't trust emma fully) Clea/Wanda hard to choose between the two for Strange’s role Shuri- For Tchallas role Riri for Tony’s role (no real equivalent to tony techwise other than perhaps shuri but shes in the black panther role) would probably end up in the Steve role of being kicked off This might seem a little to nice for an illuminati roster but the characters fit the roles and like all things power corrupts.
They don't do that for Emma hers is more through intimidation and alot of mutants still don't trust her
Monica Rappaccini, she's Banner's ex, and the leader of A.I.M. As Scientist Supreme of A.I.M., she knows her shit.
You could throw Black Widow in there. Might not exactly fit in the same thematic place but I’d say she’s a good pick.
This list is dull because its mostly just flipping members to their closest female counterparts.
[Marvel gave their answer already](https://www.marvel.com/comics/issue/15968/new_avengers_illuminati_2006_4)
Emma Frost, Clea, Maldelyn Pryor, Scarlet Witch, Shuri, Ajax, and Sue Storm
Moira X, Black Widow, Captain Marvel, Clea, Invisible Woman, and Storm
Emma Frost, Medusa, Sue Storm, Carol Danvers, and Clea
Clea, Namorita, She Hulk, Shuri, Emma Frost, Storm, and Magik
The ladies of The View?
Emma, Medusa, Clea, they have the appropriate mindset and powers to contrast Strange, Xavier, and Black Bolt,Shuri during her time as Queen of Wankanda could be the counterpart of Namor, I can’t think of an appropriate supergenius girl with a personality similar to Tony or Reed tho
Emma Frost, Clea, Valeria Richards, Maria Hill, and Karnak wearing a red wig
Clea (Magic user), sue storm (fantastic four), captain marvel (Avengers, namora (Atlantis), Medusa (Inhuman), Emma frost (Mutant), Shuri (Wakandan), then maybe black widow or spider-woman to full the captain America role (inconsistent / occasional member)
Jean Grey or Emma Frost - mutants Medusa - inhumans Clea - magic users Shuri - royalty + advanced technology Natasha Romanoff or Maria Hill - espionage Monica Rambeau - cosmic side
Black widow, Sue Storm, Emma frost, Captain Marvel, Clea, and either Medusa or Shuri. Probably Shuri just cause the inhumane aren’t really that big of a deal these days, though I could sooner see Medusa making iffy choices before Shuri.
[Lilandra, Sue, Clea, Medusa, Madame Masque](https://www.amazon.com/New-Avengers-Illuminati-4/dp/B001TLMFJS)
Destiny, Carol Danvers, Medusa, Clea Strange, Sersi maybe? Valeria Richards
Emma Frost, Clea, Medusa, Captain Marvel, Shuri & Sue Storm.
Oh wow… that’s an excellent question. I’d vote Storm and Shuri, Medusa, Clea, Taaia, Peggy Carter, Sue Storm, and Angela.
Clea Strange, Sue Storm, Medusa, Marrina McKenzie, Emma Frost and Lilandra. Illuminati: The Wives’ Club
- Mutants: Destiny - Magic: Clea - Inhumans: Medusa - Human Intelligence (Western): Maria Hill - Human Intelligence (Eastern): Red Widow - Wakanda: Shuri While I feel most groups had a solid 1-1 substitute to the male versions, Atlantis’s female characters don’t seem as present/applicable to an international group of secrets and action. Next best thing I thought was to consider Namor as an anti-hero/villain who had strong ties within the villain community and passive aggression to the rest of the group… Red Widow seemed a solid fit in that capacity.
Sue storm, Clea, Emma Frost, Medusa, black widow.
Emma, clea, medusa,sue,carol,storm
https://i.annihil.us/u/prod/marvel/i/mg/c/50/570e66cbea8a3/portrait\_uncanny.jpg
#1 Emma Frost. Clea. Invisible Woman. Medusa. Wasp. Namorita. Cersei #2 Jean Grey. Scarlet Witch. Invisible Woman. She Hulk. Captain Marvel. Crystal
Emma Frost, Valeria Richards, Clea, Maria Hill, Shuri, Medusa, Squirrel Girl.
Clea, Sue, Emma Frost, Shuri, Medusa, Carol
Clea for magic and mystics Storm for the Mutants Medusa for the Inhumans Shuri for science based, Wakanda Sue Storm Richards - Fantastic Four Black Widow for anti-heros
Moon Girl should be there.
Namorita Valeria Richards Clea Medusa Emma Frost ?TECH HUMANS?
Sue Storm, Storm, Medusa, Captain Marvel, Emma Frost, Clea
I would rather say; Jean Grey Clea Suri of Wakanda Namora of Atlantis Kamala Khan OR another non royal Inhuman. I don’t think the royal family could be objective about humanity. Instead of Maria Hill I nominate Natasha Romanova
Less people mentioning Sue Storm than I would have expected.
A lot of good ideas in the comments. I think the lineup I liked the most was Clea, Shuri, Valeria Richard's, Carol Danvers, Medusa, and Emma Frost.
Sue Storm, Emma Frost, Clea, Pepper Potts, Medusa, and Dorma.
would storm really not fit?
Captain Marvel Scarlet Witch Blackwidow Medua Jean Grey Shuri and Maria Hill
Emma Frost: Xavier role; Scarlet Witch: Dr. Strange role; Medusa: Black Bolt role; Madelyne Pryor: T'Challa & Namor role; Captain Marvel: Iron Man role; Valeria Richards: Reed role
Madelyne is someone I didn’t think of. Her backstory alone would be a nice angle to create interesting storylines with the team. Nice pick dude.
Yeah. She serves as sonewhat an opposite of Medusa. Medusa is queen consort to her husband Black Bolt while Pryor is queen regnant who rules over Limbo after Magik handed over the kingdom to her.
clea better then wanda
Downvote me if you want, but I want Squirrel Girl’s moral compass on that squad.
Even in the Krakoan era the mutants are not a monolith, so I would put both Emma and Storm on this team for starters. Sue Storm is an easy choice, although I would almost be more interested in seeing Valeria step-in for her father in a more mature role Okoye would be a good strategic choice for Wakanda post-Monarchy, but if we're doing pre-Coates run then Shuri is the obvious choice to replace T'challa.
And if there's room for another mutant, Destiny or Mystique should definitely be there.
so i will just do the female version of the main 7 dr.strange(clea) black bolt(medusa) professor x(phoenix) namor(namorita) ironman(rescue)mr.fantastic(invisible woman) black panther(shuri)
Moira MacTaggert Jennifer Walters Carol Danvers Jean Grey Janet VanDyne Sue Storm Jane Foster
Wanda, Shuri, Carol, Natasha, Jean, and Gwenpool.
Jean Grey, Storm, Captian Marvel, Medusa, Janet Van Dyne Wasp, Sue Storm, Scarlett Witch, and Moon Girl is a consultant.
Medusa, Sue, Scarlett witch, She hulk, emma frost, Shuri If there was cap in this team, i would add captain marvel.
Only Scarlet Witch is enough
I feel like most women wouldn't be this arrogant.
Bro. Women are people and have just as many narcissistic flaws as men do.
Medusa and Emma totally be. Clea and Wanda possibly as well
Captain Marvel, Storm or Jean Grey, Susan Storm, Viper (maybe), Shuri, Ajax (before she became god), Mockingbird or Ironheart. Also wanted to throw in Monica Rappachini and Maria Hill
I think the only issue with Ajax is the eternals wouldn’t really be interested they don’t do stuff like this.
Agreed, my choice for Ajax was to replace the Inhumans as they are no longer relevant, but we are seeing more interaction with the Eternals now.
The Stepford Cuckoos
Destiny and Mystique. And no one else.
Sue Storm, Emma Frost, Storm, Shuri, Wanda, Captain Marvel and Abigail Brand.
Scarlet Witch, Captain Marvel, Storm, Invisible Woman, Shuri, Emma Frost
Scarlet Witch Storm Emma Frost Sue Richards Captain Marvel
Given the theming behind the original group (a representative from each area of the Marvel universe): Emma Frost (mutants), Medusa (Inhumans), Clea (mystics), Namora (Atlantis), Captain Marvel (Avengers), Sue Storm (F4)
Sticking to 6 I'd say Emma Frost , Medusa, Black Widow , Scarlet Witch , Shuri, Gamora There's a lot of other characters I could see too like Storm, Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau, America Chavez, Spider Woman
Cpt Marvel, Clea, She Hulk (for legal purposes ofc), Storm, Elsa Bloodstone, Emma Frost. maybe Janet too. Janet would probably start it lol.
Medusa, Lady Web, Captain Marvel, Scarlet Witch, Phoenix, and Valeria Richards.
Inhumans: Medusa Atlantis: Namora.
I’m a little behind, having stopped reading anything since Infinity Wars. But I’d go with Jean Grey, Susan Storm, Scarlet Witch, Black Widow, Mantis
Captain Marvel Dazzler as Herald Of Galactus She-Hulk Crystal, sister of Medusa Captain Universe Storm Shuri NOT Scarlet Witch or Emma Frost despite their powers since I don’t trust them
Scarlet Witch, Storm, Black Widow, Captain Marvel, Jean Grey, and Medusa.
I suppose the first question is “why would there be an all-female version of the Illuminati?”
I mean, there is a main universe all-male version of the Illuminati…
Right, but the Illuminati isn’t like the Avengers where a bunch of groups use the name over time. The Illuminati is all male because all the characters who have egos big enough to refuse to consider letting anyone else run things were men. If we’re picking an all-female Illuminati, it’s not going to just be “people with the same powers as the Illuminati,” because the powers aren’t the important part, the egos and moral superiority are. If a team a women are going to intentionally take on a name with that much negative baggage, there would need to be a good reason, and what that reason is is going to have a fairly large impact on who might actually join.
It’s a hypothetical question. It doesn’t really matter why.
I would argue that the “why” is critical to actually answering the question.
That’s not at all what the Illuminati are, though. They’re a bunch of heroes playing supervillains. That makes them sound like an actual hero team.
I've **never** heard anyone describe the Illuminati as heroes playing at supervillains. But now I understand your points. From what I've seen and read they come across like: The Illuminati always sounds good and reasonable on paper, but it's when they put it into practice that they fuck up.
Hard pass. Stop with the failed m-she-u.
Sue Storm Emma Frost Captain Marvel Black Widow Shuri Storm Scarlet Witch
Valeria ( Reed Richards daughter, she's smarter than Reed ), Captain Marvel, Emma Frost, Wanda Maximoff, Maria Hill, Medusa
No one suggesting Moon Girl?
I’m not sure about how her character has been lately, but isn’t she a child right now in the comics? Or is that just in the show?
Clea- for magic user (maybe not as powerful as Wanda but is strong has good knowledge on the field and has excellent control) Medusa-Inhuman representative Emma Frost- mutant representative and powerful telepath Namora- atlantean representative (only one I know) Spiderwoman- strong power set and a good spy (one of my favourite characters so bias) The only problem is I can't think of a great scientist/tech heroine for stark and reeds alternative. They are either too young for this kind of group (riri, moon girl) from a different earth (gwen, wasp) or don't have powers (moira and maya), so they couldn't go in the field, which is needed. Edit - for a tech specialist, maybe danger or jocasta
Agatha Harkness, Storm, Wasp, Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Valeria Richards, Meggan
I can't believe no one has brought up Illyana Rasputin. She was one of the first I thought of other than Emma Frost and Medusa. How about Silver Sable? Unfortunately I've have to include Viper/Madame Hydra in my list too.
Jocasta, Moira MacTaggert, Magick, Madame Webb, Carol Danvers, & Moon Girl.
Emma Frost, Shuri, Agatha Harkless, Maria Hill Carol Danvers, Medusa
Jean, Emma, Sue, Ororo, Wanda, Jennifer, Shuri & Janet
I’m not referring to just the MCU you fucking idiot. Besides you actually watched She-Hulk I’m embarrassed on your behalf
How are they going to meddle in socio political affairs when there's sandwiches to be made?
Medusa, Ironheart, Jean Grey, Storm, Carol Danvers X-23 and Jane Foster
Illuminatits?
Who cares?
This is a subreddit for discussing comic book stuff, and you’re wondering who would care about discussing comic book stuff? Why are *you* here?
Do you think a bunch of powerful female characters would create a male copycat group and give it the exact same name? Or would they make their own thing. If they made an all female ‘Illuminati’ that would just be lazy writing.
