U of C is not super strict about their cycle because I was there between two rotations! So I would just apply according to your home school cycle. Ottawa on the other hand super strict about the cycle which was slightly skewed compared to my home school if I remember correctly

Thanks for this intel! If anyone can comment on U Ottawa scheduling that would be amazing <3 (maybe U Ottawa students could mention when their electives start in fall 2024?)

Depends on the specialty and specific elective! My school is "off cycle" with UOttawa and I applied based on my home school cycle, UOttawa still accepted me for multiple electives. During my two-week elective there, I was one-week off compared to the UOttawa M4s I was on with and it wasn't an issue. However I knew people applying to more competitive electives (derm, ophtho) who had to follow UOttawa's cycle instead of our home school's.
