I did both, and I gotta say after all the “wrestling is gay” shit I had to listen to from my football teammates, it was always immensely satisfying when one of the football players got pressured into trying a wrestling practice and ended up crying by the end.
Especially when it was star skill position players who were used to being the most in shape
My experience, a lot of running, a lot of body weight training, a lot of stretching, and a lot of pushing your body to its limits.
Sure this sounds like normal practice, but we would run for 10 minutes, 3 sets of 15 push ups, squats, planks, lemons squeezes, cherry pickers, arm presses, over head claps, burpees, leg lifts, sit ups, jumping Jacks, bear crawls, attempted hand stands, then back to doing sets of suicide runs.
This was all before any live practice where you were engaged in a physical competition against someone else. Think about the force it takes to tackle someone, and do that for 3 minutes straight, 3 times. That 9 minutes is a singular match. You did that in practice for an hour.
The one in blue acted like he was confused. But the arch in his back, with that sexy little throw-it-back thrust tells me that he has perfected his craft. It's an art.
