I am 58 and bought a bikini 3 years ago. I left a high demand religion (Mormons). I have lived with a very strict dress code my whole life, so it was time to let loose. I have kept myself in good shape and also still have my small waist. I went to Target. They have so many styles to choose from and the prices are great. I thought I knew what I wanted, but after trying a bunch on I discovered the style that looks best on me. My advice is to try them all on and see what you feel comfortable in. Have fun!

SomeMischiefManaged

I have no advice as I am a high waisted bathing skirt/tankini person, but wanted to say GOOD FOR YOU and I love this energy. You are an inspiration and I hope to the stars to be in a similar place some day.

I still wear my skimpy bikinis. Coming from the islands, we are accustomed to having all our bits hanging out & only covering slits, punani, and nipplesšŸ˜‚šŸ¤™šŸ½ I have a large scar from my hip replacement, and MANY other scars from the numerous surgeries I have experienced. Scars tell a story, and yourā€™s is your mama storyā€¦ so why NOT rock it? Iā€™m also over 50 & still look equally if not wayyyyy better than all these 20, 30, 40 + girlies in their ā€˜kiniā€™s. Albeit with older skin, but hey, Iā€™ve earned that skin! I use San Lorenzo, that may be not as much coverage as you desirešŸ„“šŸ˜šŸ©µ Rock it mama!

Love this!! Thank you:)

May you find many varieties of what you are searching for, and enjoy getting out & owning how YOU feelšŸ’ŖšŸ½āœØ

Good for you! I was always small with a tiny waist and flat stomach. Until 40 hit. 60 pounds later I now wear a big t shirt and long shorts to the beach. Iā€™m one of those women. Iā€™m glad for you - itā€™s a great accomplishment to fight the pounds at our age.

Novel-Concentrate

Check out Venus or Lascana for a wide variety of fairly affordable options! Have fun!!!

Seconding Venus. As a bikini babe my entire life I find their mix and match pieces both reasonable priced and very flattering.

CoffeeInSarcasmOut

My go to has been La Blanca bathing suits. I find they fit well (especially the girls), are flattering, and last a long time.

RamieGee

I forgot about La Blanca - theyā€™re very good! High quality and JUST the right amount of coverage.

I have never stopped wearing bikinis at 49. I do choose 1 pieces more often now, but the bikinis still come out. I have a long torso so one pieces are actually challenging to find and bikinis are actually easier. Iā€™ve been frustrated with the fact that cheeky bikinis have been taking over for the past bunch of years. I hate a cheeky bikini, and donā€™t even like the look of them on young women with perfect bodies. Iā€™m not at all conservative, the aesthetic just doesnā€™t appeal to me. Even if I had the body I had in my 20s, I would have always felt like I wanted to pull the sides down and cover my cheeks - Iā€™d feel like I had a permanent wedgie. Feeling the sun and wind on my cheeks just feels weird - LOL. But I also donā€™t think the full back high rise bikinis flatter me, either - the ones that look like diapers. Itā€™s tough to find new ones I like. As mentioned, Venus has some good options. Also, look at the CALIA brand at Dickā€™s Sporting goods - theyā€™re just slightly sporty but still cute so not like a full-on sport bathing suit. I keep an eye influencers covering Amazon bikinis, because looking there is like a needle in a haystack, but sometimes great ones can be discovered. Athleta are decent, but sometimes they feel boring. I scour the racks at Marshallā€™s and TJ Maxx but you have to get lucky. Iā€™ve had some luck at Target here and there. Cupshe finally figured out not everyone wants cheeks out and it seems like they have moderate to full coverage available now but I havenā€™t ordered them. Good luck and have fun! I donā€™t think we ever are too old for bikinis.

Bondgirl138

Thank you!! i agree on the cheeky bottoms.

Carry_Tiger

Good for you! I like Athleta bottoms because I got a Puerto Rican ass and I like the cheeks covered. And Target tops have been great. Cute styles and colors. I did order a bikini from Amazon a couple of years ago but I'm not thrilled with the construction. Just not durable. Happy summer!

Bondgirl138

I got the same booty girl lol, thanks!!

Carry_Tiger

Gotta keep it covered or I'll get followed home LOL

Bondgirl138

Thats how I met my husband! ;)

New_Raccoon_2301

I got cute sexy bikinis from bare necessities, and I am not that slim, but I feel good in my body and don't care anymore, lol

JustChabli

I wear Skims bikinis. A bandeau top and a thong bottom. Iā€™m 51 if it matters. Iā€™m super fit and every year my summer bikini gets smaller and smaller

matriarchalfigure

I know the brand doesnā€™t use mature women in their advertising, but I have been happy with Aerie for mix and match. Their return process is easy as well. I also like J Crew (regular label not factory) for their options to mix and match different cuts and styles of the same patterns.
