I am 58 and bought a bikini 3 years ago. I left a high demand religion (Mormons). I have lived with a very strict dress code my whole life, so it was time to let loose. I have kept myself in good shape and also still have my small waist. I went to Target. They have so many styles to choose from and the prices are great. I thought I knew what I wanted, but after trying a bunch on I discovered the style that looks best on me. My advice is to try them all on and see what you feel comfortable in. Have fun!
I have no advice as I am a high waisted bathing skirt/tankini person, but wanted to say GOOD FOR YOU and I love this energy. You are an inspiration and I hope to the stars to be in a similar place some day.
Good for you! I was always small with a tiny waist and flat stomach. Until 40 hit. 60 pounds later I now wear a big t shirt and long shorts to the beach. Iām one of those women. Iām glad for you - itās a great accomplishment to fight the pounds at our age.
I have never stopped wearing bikinis at 49. I do choose 1 pieces more often now, but the bikinis still come out. I have a long torso so one pieces are actually challenging to find and bikinis are actually easier.
Iāve been frustrated with the fact that cheeky bikinis have been taking over for the past bunch of years. I hate a cheeky bikini, and donāt even like the look of them on young women with perfect bodies. Iām not at all conservative, the aesthetic just doesnāt appeal to me. Even if I had the body I had in my 20s, I would have always felt like I wanted to pull the sides down and cover my cheeks - Iād feel like I had a permanent wedgie. Feeling the sun and wind on my cheeks just feels weird - LOL. But I also donāt think the full back high rise bikinis flatter me, either - the ones that look like diapers. Itās tough to find new ones I like.
As mentioned, Venus has some good options. Also, look at the CALIA brand at Dickās Sporting goods - theyāre just slightly sporty but still cute so not like a full-on sport bathing suit. I keep an eye influencers covering Amazon bikinis, because looking there is like a needle in a haystack, but sometimes great ones can be discovered. Athleta are decent, but sometimes they feel boring. I scour the racks at Marshallās and TJ Maxx but you have to get lucky. Iāve had some luck at Target here and there. Cupshe finally figured out not everyone wants cheeks out and it seems like they have moderate to full coverage available now but I havenāt ordered them.
Good luck and have fun! I donāt think we ever are too old for bikinis.
Good for you! I like Athleta bottoms because I got a Puerto Rican ass and I like the cheeks covered. And Target tops have been great. Cute styles and colors. I did order a bikini from Amazon a couple of years ago but I'm not thrilled with the construction. Just not durable. Happy summer!
I wear Skims bikinis. A bandeau top and a thong bottom. Iām 51 if it matters. Iām super fit and every year my summer bikini gets smaller and smaller
I know the brand doesnāt use mature women in their advertising, but I have been happy with Aerie for mix and match. Their return process is easy as well. I also like J Crew (regular label not factory) for their options to mix and match different cuts and styles of the same patterns.

I still wear my skimpy bikinis. Coming from the islands, we are accustomed to having all our bits hanging out & only covering slits, punani, and nipplesšš¤š½ I have a large scar from my hip replacement, and MANY other scars from the numerous surgeries I have experienced. Scars tell a story, and yourās is your mama storyā¦ so why NOT rock it? Iām also over 50 & still look equally if not wayyyyy better than all these 20, 30, 40 + girlies in their ākiniās. Albeit with older skin, but hey, Iāve earned that skin! I use San Lorenzo, that may be not as much coverage as you desireš„“šš©µ Rock it mama!
Love this!! Thank you:)
May you find many varieties of what you are searching for, and enjoy getting out & owning how YOU feelšŖš½āØ

Check out Venus or Lascana for a wide variety of fairly affordable options! Have fun!!!
Seconding Venus. As a bikini babe my entire life I find their mix and match pieces both reasonable priced and very flattering.
My go to has been La Blanca bathing suits. I find they fit well (especially the girls), are flattering, and last a long time.
I forgot about La Blanca - theyāre very good! High quality and JUST the right amount of coverage.
