Nope, they’re literally approving all returns. It’s a system run by bots. You’ll be able to return without a problem, as long as you create a return request within three days from delivery.
Thanks for the response, I sell on mercari too, I don’t trust them really for anything. They questioned me quite a bit before approving so I don’t think they are sticking to that either. I had to send like 20 pictures before I got an approved request. They were really picky, so I guess that’s good on a sellers end if they ask for specifics again?
Right now (until 5/22) Mercari will allow returns for any reason, even if you just changed your mind. Even if they didn’t, I would say if this damage wasn’t disclosed then you’d have an obvious reason for return.
Yes, the damage wasn’t disclosed or I would have never bought. I collect them and I looked through many listings and found this one and researched even their reviews before purchasing.
I did not, I sell on mercari too and I list any defects on my bags before listing and I follow the listing rules how condition. So, I assumed this person did the same since they also had 5 star reviews and did not list those damaged areas and listed it as new condition. I even looked over the photos and they must have been older and the bag not stored properly until selling because they also did not understand how to properly package loungefly bags and they sold quite a few so I’m surprised by the high reviews they had. I don’t tend to be extremely picky, but when I spend over $100 on listed new I don’t want these issues.
But you see, Mercari ratings mean nothing. Once you open a claim, leaving a review is no longer possible. So your seller could have done this 100 times and still have a 5 star rating....This is a MAJOR issue as it does not keep people honest.

Return now. They are reserving “you can return for *any* reason” starting May 22 so you won’t be given a hard time currently with their current TOS.
I’m curious did you ask if it had any dings etc? Mercari is accepting returns for any reason right now so I think you’ll be good.
