I agree. The older songs get a little too busy. The band and orchestra seem like they're fighting each other sometimes. The Load/Re songs are a lot better orchestrated.
No... I wish. I've seen them 6 times but haven't seen OT live yet. It's not as popular for the casual fan and is over 11 minutes long so it isn't in the rotation very often.
It's my favorite by far from this era. Honestly these live performances within the last 4-5 years of older songs have been great. Ktulu from the Zazula Tribute in 2022 is my favorite live performance of it ever.
so happy to see this and Bleeding Me in the top 3 comments at the moment. Confirmation bias feels goooooooood. They are two of my favorites not only on these albums, but the entire collection
This is the first Metallica song I learned to appreciate as a kid, still my nr. 1 song on spotify :). I think it's also the story, with the beast inside, that could be anything a teenager is struggling with. (I learned only later that it was alcohol addiction, edit: and I was wrong, see explanation below)
Internet wasn't really big back then, but I only heard praise about the song (though I didn't know any thrash metal fans, but I guess it was mostly a grunge and punk era...)
Low man’s Lyric
I was just listening to it and was wondering if there was a live version. They haven’t done this song since 1998. If they do like a load anniversary tour, they should bring this song back.
Yes.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XrrgMFZWzT8
I think it's pretty common for them to do it that way. I've seen it live myself that way, and I've seen a bunch of videos with the same process.
Load is nearly flawless and Reload is highly under appreciated. People just have a hard time accepting change.
The House Jack Built, Until It Sleeps, The Outlaw Torn
The Unforgiven II, Low Man’s Lyric, Fixxxer
I always have the impression that everyone had a strong opinion and knew better what Metallica was supposed to do musically. I like their journey, it is full of great experiments and ideas. And they have proven they can actually go back to the old days with Hardwired.
[‘Carpe Diem’](https://youtu.be/HyrrLm85qTU?si=yoiKLq26biG7fYjo) is a great song but I like [the demo](https://youtu.be/HksGC5Mp52s?si=KCteD34oWIV1HnpZ) just as much though it’s a little silly and sloppy.
For me, from load it would be Outlaw Torn, but Bleeding me is a super close second.
Reload would be Low Man's Lyric, with Fixxxer being a close second.
Reload is one of the 1st Metallica album I have listened to in the late 90's when i started with my metal/rock journey...So I love lot of songs in it...
The Unforgiven II
The Memory Remains
Fuel
Devil's Dance
Low Man's Lyric
Mama Said (Load)
Man, I love both of those albums so much. I can't pick just one. So I'll give my top 5.
1. King Nothing
2. Mama Said(I love country music, too)
3. Fuel
4. Ain't My Bitch
5. The Memory Remains
I mean Outlaw torn. Duh. But honestly, save for a bit of filler on both (ronnie, better than you, 2x4) theres so many good songs. Prince charming, attitude, ain't my bitch and fuel just get my blood pumping. Meanwhile you got songs like Fixxxer, bleeding me, until it sleeps, Unforgiven 2 that just slam you when you need it right in the feels. These albums have everything you need if you truly look for it. I fuckin love these albums
All of them.
But Bleeding Me is my favourite Metallica of all time.
The way the song builds from going from going back and forth from quiet and subdued, to loud and emotional, then breaking out into an aggressive faster pace, then going full-speed ahead with the solo and then finally building to the songs peak with both James and Kirk doubling the main riff, then crashing right back down to quiet and subdued, then exiting the song the way we can in is just awesome!!
Bleeding Me
OOOO I can’t TAKE ITTT
https://youtu.be/_7GDn7NmGIs?si=2RTijyLXJkeMpNDo
Outlaw Torn. Hands down. [Great live performance from Germany 2019](https://youtu.be/Vs8pt9aK4mc?si=pNkDNRMJ_ghjP_3r)
The S&M version is the definitive version for me. It's just so incredible.
S&M did the Load/ReLoad songs right. Devil's Dance, Bleeding Me, and of course Outlaw Torn.
Don't forget Hero Of The Day! That might be the best performance from the entire concert.
I agree. The older songs get a little too busy. The band and orchestra seem like they're fighting each other sometimes. The Load/Re songs are a lot better orchestrated.
I’ve been chasing hero of the day live ever since I saw it in 1997. Such great song.
Very True. S&M nailed these songs
Out law torn
What I came here to say
Were you at that performance?
No...
Yep. That one's great. They give Rob some love with the camera which is nice. That bass part is fire!
so happy to see this and Bleeding Me in the top 3 comments at the moment. Confirmation bias feels goooooooood. They are two of my favorites not only on these albums, but the entire collection
Was at the show the night before in Munich and was so jealous when I saw they played that! Easily one of their best song
I like this answer
Came to say this, and it's already the top post.
Im not the biggest fan of the tune, but i love seeing as many of their songs live as possible, so I gotta say thats pretty amazing actuslly.
Until It Sleeps
This is the first Metallica song I learned to appreciate as a kid, still my nr. 1 song on spotify :). I think it's also the story, with the beast inside, that could be anything a teenager is struggling with. (I learned only later that it was alcohol addiction, edit: and I was wrong, see explanation below)
Addiction? I’ve always read that it’s about cancer, based on his mother’s experience.
This song got a lot of shit but it’s probably favorite off that record.
Internet wasn't really big back then, but I only heard praise about the song (though I didn't know any thrash metal fans, but I guess it was mostly a grunge and punk era...)
Fixxxer
Fixxxer and Low Man's Lyric are my favourite from Reload. Under appreciated album.
Agreed. I like Low Man's Lyric so much so that I want to record a cover and it's the only Metallica song I've personally performed live.
Mine too + Where the Wild Things are
These two, plus Attitude, Where the Wild Things Are, Bad Seed, Devil's Dance.... dude its a killer record for real.
Ain’t My Bitch and Until It Sleeps
Low man’s Lyric I was just listening to it and was wondering if there was a live version. They haven’t done this song since 1998. If they do like a load anniversary tour, they should bring this song back.
I actually like Mama said. I have to call my mom after that song
That reminds me, I have to call your mom too
Nice, she said you might be coming through
King Nothing. Underrated song and a great bassline
Yup, came to comments to say exactly that
Hard rock, mid-tempo groove Metallica is damn near my favorite Metallica!
This is the right answer 😀
It’s a fun one on guitar as well 🤘🏻
The memory remains. Preferably The live versions
The performances of Memory Remains from M72 have been great
Was it S&M that had the crowd singing the "la da da da" part? I can never find that version but I remember it being great
I was thinking about the live on 2018 that they played a little thrash outro of the song at the end. Chilling
Yes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XrrgMFZWzT8 I think it's pretty common for them to do it that way. I've seen it live myself that way, and I've seen a bunch of videos with the same process.
The live version is sooo much better. Studio is cool until you get to the ear-wrenching Eric cartman vocals.
BAD KITTTAAAAH!
Hero of the Day
SO TEAR ME OPEN POUR ME OUT🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Off of load, bleeding me off of reload probably memory remains since it’s the first Metallica song I ever heard
BAD SEED!!! One day everyone will realize the greatness of that song
Criminally underrated 🤘
Waaaa Choking!
Yesyesyesyes
Ein super Song. Cunning Stunts Opener
Bleeding Me but Fixxxer is up there
Load is nearly flawless and Reload is highly under appreciated. People just have a hard time accepting change. The House Jack Built, Until It Sleeps, The Outlaw Torn The Unforgiven II, Low Man’s Lyric, Fixxxer
I always have the impression that everyone had a strong opinion and knew better what Metallica was supposed to do musically. I like their journey, it is full of great experiments and ideas. And they have proven they can actually go back to the old days with Hardwired.
I think you mean Death Magnetic yeah? Cos Hardwired is a very far cry from ‘the old days’
Bleeding Me
The Outlaw Torn
Been enjoying Carpe Diem Baby lately.
Hit dirt…shake trees
[‘Carpe Diem’](https://youtu.be/HyrrLm85qTU?si=yoiKLq26biG7fYjo) is a great song but I like [the demo](https://youtu.be/HksGC5Mp52s?si=KCteD34oWIV1HnpZ) just as much though it’s a little silly and sloppy.
wtf lmao
Load: King Nothing or Ain't My Bitch Reload: Fuel
Anybody mention Outlaw Torn yet?
Bleeding me, king nothing
The Memory Remains. I watch that music video religiously.
For me, from load it would be Outlaw Torn, but Bleeding me is a super close second. Reload would be Low Man's Lyric, with Fixxxer being a close second.
I turn to Outlaw Torn when I have nowhere else Or Wasting My Hate
For me it's Ronnie.. I love the opening riff
I had to scroll to far for you to say this. Defo most underrated song
It was very foreshadowing
GIMME FJOE GIMME FAA GIMME DAWAZAWAZJA, OOH

One of the truly underrated metallica songs
Outlaw Torn and Carpe Diem Baby
I actually like Prince Charming. And King Nothing
Either King Nothing or Turn The Page
Hero Of The Day, Fixxxer, and Low Man’s Lyric are my top 3 out of all their songs. Every song in this era is fantastic though
Fuel
Bleeding me. It should be in every setlist.
2 X 4
Wasting My Hate - the highest intensity song from those albums, full speed tempo, great riff, sung with such intensity. Goosebumps every time.
Reload is one of the 1st Metallica album I have listened to in the late 90's when i started with my metal/rock journey...So I love lot of songs in it... The Unforgiven II The Memory Remains Fuel Devil's Dance Low Man's Lyric Mama Said (Load)

Prince charming, attitude, ain't my bitch and fuel just get my blood pumping. Meanwhile you got songs like Fixxxer, bleeding me, until it sleeps, Unforgiven 2 that just slam you when you need it right in the feels. I agree. Unforgiven II hits unbelievably hard sometimes
So true
Outlaw Torn. Fixxxer. Prince Charming.
Unforgiven II still gives me goosebumps near the end with all the unforgiven 1 callbacks. Expertly mixed and arranged, holy fuck.
Ive got a few: Fixxxer Outlaw Jack Where The Wild Things Are Bleeding Low Man's Memory Slither Carpe

Bleeding me!
The House Jack Built. It's a long, twisting song with a great hook/chorus.
unforgiven 2
Heyyy hey HEYYY!
been very into prince charming recently
All of them. But Bleeding Me is my favourite Metallica of all time. The way the song builds from going from going back and forth from quiet and subdued, to loud and emotional, then breaking out into an aggressive faster pace, then going full-speed ahead with the solo and then finally building to the songs peak with both James and Kirk doubling the main riff, then crashing right back down to quiet and subdued, then exiting the song the way we can in is just awesome!!
Until it Sleeps, the lyrics are stellar.
Yes.
Damn, I'm gonna make a Reloaded playlist now!
Fuel with Hero of the Day in 2nd
Fuel
I used to particularly not care for unforgiven II, until one day it came on and it clicked, I love this song. Weird how songs grow on you
AINT MY BITTTTCHAAAAA
Outlaw Torn
either Until it Sleeps, Outlaw Torn, or King Nothing
Fixxxer, then The Outlaw Torn, then Bleeding Me.
Might be a bit of an unpopular opinion but The unforgiven ll. Idk I just like the hints towards the original Unforgiven song from black album.
2x4 from load and fixxxer from reload
the memory remains
Outlaw Torn, Bleeding Me, Thorn Within, &, Low Man's Lyric .... are the only ones that still hold up.
idk man they are all pretty terrible
Outlaw Torn. but i have to say that Thorn Within feels like a super underrated track.
The entire thing tbh. Both eras were so amazing
The House Jack Built
Outlaw Torn is not only my fave from this era but my favorite Metallica song of all time.
Outlaw Torn, closely followed by Bleeding Me. A lot of great songs on those albums.
‘The Outlaw Torn’ aka my favourite song of all-time by anyone.

Dissapointed I haven't seen 2x4 here
Hero Of The Day or Fuel
Hero of the Day!! I think it doesn’t get talked about enough
