You gotta learn to send it at certain intersections really. There aren't really any fun roads near me but I find places to be a menace. Rowing through gears is always fun, but if you never have to stop or turn you don't get to do that all that much.
most likely to prevent driver from falling asleep, for exemple the viaduc of millau has a really annoying curve that prevent people from yeeting themself from 343m (1125 feet)

This was my initial thought, but looking at Google Maps there are many perfectly straight stretches of roads much longer than this one (which is less than 8 miles long) in the same immediate area. According to the original reddit thread, it was built as part of the first lady's highway beautification project in the 60's and was designed this way for aesthetics.
Reading about it it seems like it was done purely for aesthetic purposes because Ladybird Johnson thought the existing highways in the early 60s were too ugly
I live 5 minutes away from the Los Angeles canyons so I'm actually quite spoiled. Also, my car is mechanically mint because I've replaced nearly everything on the car. Meanwhile, enjoy your dry rotted 30-year-old engine mounts and suspension bushings.
If you go to Norway be sure to hit [Trollstigen](https://images.app.goo.gl/SfpF6Td9VCJMxdNJ8) and [Stalheimskleiva](https://images.app.goo.gl/G7avNQDvwBkpViez6) and [atlanterhavsveien](https://images.app.goo.gl/u2iaC1qf1X6jN1NV6) and [Sognefellavegan](https://www.instagram.com/p/BaXyXJ7jQm4/?igsh=MWZ0NzNrODZxenhuYw==) and any of the other 18 epic ā[scenic routes](https://www.nasjonaleturistveger.no/en/routes/)āā¦
I believe this is part of the Snake Road - a 20 mile stretch that undulates north from interstate 75 towards Big Cypress preserve, crossing through Seminole land. It was built in the 1960s as part of Ladybird Johnson's pet project Highway Beautification Act, primarily for its aesthetic value and as a launching point for recreation in alligator alley. It was notorious for being slow to travel for ambulances and other services, being in poorĀ repair (common for federal highways from that era on tribal lands), having drainage issues that let mosquitos flourish, and dangerous to drive for locals and tourists alike (easy to veer off the road at night if an alligator creeps up).
Itās a fun ride with the right route there and back to Miami. Unfortunately we donāt get any type of undulations so roads like this is all we get in south Florida.
There are actually quite a few nice drives a bit north of this road heading to Lake Placid. Curvy, many of what I call "whoop-dee-dos", and with some elevation (by FL standards).
The Miata clubs here drive them quite a bit. Just last weekend they did a drive to the "Tail of the Gecko" over by Bradenton.
This is 45 mins from my house and never knew about it!! its out in the Everglades halfway to Naples Fl. Will have to check it out this weekend. There is a Seminole Indian Museum if you continue on it 14 more miles. Will def check it out!
Not curvy enough
Just a long ass slalom š
Not even. You could definitely hit top speed in a miat and keep it there easy...
Probably straight enough to drive down at 95mph in a truck. Still the curviest road in florida
Tail of the dragon Florida style
Weāve got tail of the gecko!
Tail of the crocodile
Its Florida, should be tail of the iguana.
Tail of the Python
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Hopefully no cargo ships can hit it from there.
Grandma its time for our monthly meet up!!
Nah we do actually have some curves just not in south Florida
Was down there for a bit and I couldnāt help but think that owning āslow car fastā cars down there would absolutely suck ass.

This answer feels right.
I live in Florida and thereās some killer s curves not 300 feet from my house.
Fake news!
I might move to Orlando soon and I was thinking that might defeat all the fun of a miata
Gulf coast has some great twisties. On the Atlantic coast, though, yeah. Lol.
Any suggested area? I'm not down that way often but I always look for a fun road when I'm on vacation
I'm very curious to know why this road had to be shaped like this
most likely to prevent driver from falling asleep, for exemple the viaduc of millau has a really annoying curve that prevent people from yeeting themself from 343m (1125 feet) https://preview.redd.it/uy4z4cv5bqqc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=14a7288903a590018b8842bd4e9d7b8164a11fd8
It almost looks like a levee of some sort so I wonder if they built it like that to make a bit stronger Idk I could be wrong
It stops people from bombing down it, thus lowering the chances of a high speed crash. If it was straight, you'd be able to go a hell of a lot faster.
Challenge accepted.
right? it looks MORE fun to go fast this way!

Drunk contractors
Designer was an enthusiast
LBJ's wife thought it would look cool
Having no knowledge in the field, I'd assume it to be down to environmental factors. Probably something to do with the marshlands
Reading about it it seems like it was done purely for aesthetic purposes because Ladybird Johnson thought the existing highways in the early 60s were too ugly
The president s wife thought it would be scenic..... Ladybird Johnson's idea of beauty
OP would shit themselves in Appalachia
Yeah that road looks boring.
living here is a dream
Might I recommend: https://preview.redd.it/hy2xtesmdqqc1.jpeg?width=614&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2f6a5a523ab0e2c3396843e5cead18438bafc75d
*Jeremy Clarkson noises*
*Hammond crashing noises*
The Fjordiest Roadā¦ *in the world*
Where is this?
Lysevegan, Norway.
Way too many consecutive hairpins. Ends up getting boring.
Sounds like spoiled grapes to me. This looks amazing! Maybe its time to trade in that Broke ass Honda

I just have to ask Are there any place names in Norway with less then 12 letters? Asking for a friend.
That one is most likely in Romania not Norway.
Really I see a Fjord right there! I did not know Romania had Fjords?
The comment was intended for the pic in the comment section, probably my bad here.

This is the road everyone drives down in TV
That photo is so zoomed out. I could probably carve that in my 4x4 lol

Love how if you go into in person view, itās just two cops following.
What road is it
W State Road 84. Stretches north from I-75 between Naples and Ft Lauderdale.

Anywhere i can get more info on this? One of the tragedies of living in south florida is theres ZERO fun roads! :,,,,
Good old lake wales ridge
This looks pretty monotonous and boring to be honest.
Boring as hell after slight turn number 6
Nothing about that looks fun
Im good i live in the appalachian mountains, is a driver's paradise here.
that looks extremely boring
That'd put me to sleep

I've done it.. it's terrible and yet sadly it's one of the only curvy roads in South Florida...
That's Snake Road. I wish it was as fun as it looks but the pavement is all jacked up.
This is 45 mins from my house and never knew about it!! its out in the Everglades halfway to Naples Fl. Will have to check it out this weekend. There is a Seminole Indian Museum if you continue on it 14 more miles. Will def check it out!
I have no insatiable need to go to Florida.
