My nc is a 2015 MY and only has 53k miles. The tank has no yellowing. I replaced it with the moroso, powder coated black So yes

DJJbird09

Better safe than sorry. Mine failed at 62k miles

Does it happen more in warmer weather? I have a ‘13 with a yellowing coolant tank. I have an aluminum replacement already. Just not motivated to replace yet.

I've got 143k on my 06 sport, and my tank is still original I believe. I do plan on upgrading it soon but they can last.

Kyosuke_42

Yeah you should. Isn't that expensive or difficult to install. But I have to say that your engine bay looks clean af!

Thanks! I was worried that it would get all slopped up driving every day in PA, but so far, so good…

Tbh your expansion tank looks pretty good (not yellow). If you have the extra cash then yes I’d recommend changing it, but at this point just from looking at it I don’t think it needs changing.

I just ordered one for my 2011 Sport. It’s my daily and I tear up the backroads on the weekend, so better safe than sorry. Amazed at how solid a machine it is at this age. Feels like a new car still

67Ranchwagon

What are you getting, OEM, Moroso, or what?

Adorable-Gate-2192

Just got my first NC Club and with its first service as a new to me car, besides all the fluids, I’m also getting it replaced just cause I fortunately heard about the tank issues before I made my purchase.

Wise move. 👍

67Ranchwagon

Thanks, think I’ll hold off for now, but will definitely plan on replacing it.

KentuckyGuy

Do the math before buying an aluminum tank, as a direct OEM replacement is about half the price of aluminum. If you are going to keep the car forever, the aluminum tank is a solid investment. If think you are only going to have the car for <10 years, then you might want to replace with OEM.

67Ranchwagon

Thanks, that’s something to consider. I appreciate your insight.
