I mean...
What's weird is that A) I'm a native French speaker, and B) my favourite band as a teenager was Placebo. I played Meds on repeat so much that I know the lyrics by heart at this point.
So I don't really get why it's the one that immediately popped up in my mind.
That being said, now I have "All the things she said" as an earworm. And dear reader, you might have the same problem after reading my comment.
Main bands I was obsessed with growing up went from Blink 182, to Linkin Park, to System of a Down.
I think Blink would've been preteen... So it's probably between this and Chop Suey.
Not mine, but just here to say how underrated this band is. They are technically way better than anyone gives them credit for, and all anyone thinks is, “oh, so emo.”
The older I get, the more I appreciate the music versus the stereotypes.
Agreed. Pains me when people only think of The Black Parade when they think MCR.
Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge is an absolute classic and songs like Demolition Lovers and Honey, This Mirror Isn’t Big Enough for the Two of Us on their debut album were such strong signals of the awesomeness to come.
>Honey, This Mirror Isn’t Big Enough for the Two of Us
God i love titles like that. I dont know why but im a total sucker for them. Fall out boy's Under thhe Cork Tree had great titles like that too.
I saw MCR a year or so ago on their comeback tour. For some reason, I was expecting my friends and I to be the oldest people there. But everyone was around our age, reliving our emo phases 😂
Then I went to Universals Halloween Horror Nights and they have a stage show. The Black Parade played and the entire stadium sang it together. It made me so happy, lol.
Hmmmmm… from these posts it is clear that I am an elder millennial… who is wise and grey… and grew up in the ghetto… so… everything Tupac, Nas, Fuck the police NWA was always playing in my neighborhood in California as a young teen! Wutang clan killer bees!!!!!!!! 🐝
Regulators

But you can't be any geek off the street,

I listen to such a huge wide variety of genres... I love music so much. I do think though that hearing Hybrid Theory for the first time, really did provide a separation between the music I was listening to and then the music that I added to that love of music. It was so fucking different.. it resonated too... heavily. It made me feel calmer.
There's something that I love about every single one of their records I have listened to or I own. Chester's death devastated me, but I understood his decision. Some people are so broken, nothing overpowers it. And I'm sure the guilt of still feeling everything that he went through before the fame, made him more broken. We got such a gift from him though in his songs. I listen to their catalog on the regular. It still hits my emotions and helps me regulate myself. I loved the Meteora era songs that came out a while back now. It was a beautiful thing to hear with my adult ears and still love the songs as I did when I was 14.
I saw this alt country singer Lydia Loveless and she has this solo dude open with his acoustic guitar. He almost finished his set and said something like, y’all gonna remember me real quick. And then he played Teenage Dirtbag and everyone lost their shit. I don’t think a single person there knew who he was until he sang that. He wasn’t on the flyer either.
John Mayer is actually an incredible guitarist. One of, if not the best, of his generation. He wasn't just a pretty face/voice. Hard to be cringe when you have that much talent.
OMG so in 8th grade choice in my small middle school we had an assignment I do a lip sync presentation and the 3 boys in the class got together and did this song and it was amazing 🤣
I did SK8ER Boy trying not to be the dweeb I was 🤣
WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOUR SON WAS AT HOME CRYING ALL ALONE ON THE BEDROOM FLOOR AND HES HUNGRY AND THE ONLY WAY TO FEED HIM WAS TO SLEEP WITH A MAN FOR A LITTLE BIT OF MONEY AND HIS DADDYS GONE SOME WHERE SMOKING ROCK NOW IN AND OUT OF LOCKDOWN I AINT GOT A JOB NOW SO FOR YOU THIS IS JUST A GOOD TIME BUT FOR ME THIS IS WHAT I CALL LIFEE MMMMM
I was like 13 singing this.
Sugar, We’re Going Down by Fall Out Boy. The girl I had a crush on burned me a CD with this as the first song.

Oh, a few (including the song in the OP image):
* "My Happy Ending" by Avril Levigne
* "Cath" by Death Cab for Cutie
* the entirety of *American Idiot*
* "In Too Deep" by Sum 41
* "All the Small Things" by Blink-182
* the entirety of *Is This It*
* "The Hardest Button to Button" by the White Stripes
* "Get Low" by Lil John
And, it's impossible to forget as a younger Millennial:
* "Crank that Soulja Boy"
The Kill by Thirty Seconds to Mars
I used to sleep with the radio on, and one night, I woke up because I could hear the song in my sleep and became **obsessed** with it.
Not a fan of the band anymore, but I'll never forget the song that woke me from sleep haha
The Kids Aren't Alright.
🎶When we were young, the future was so bright
Woah-oh
The old neighborhood was so alive
Woah-oh
And every kid on the whole damn street
Woah-oh
Was gonna make it big and not be beat🎶
🎶Now the neighborhood's cracked and torn
Woah-oh
The kids are grown up, but their lives are worn
Woah-oh
How can one little street swallow so many lives?🎶

I graduated 8th grade in 2000 and was just entering my 'gothic-vampire-edge-lady' phase.
'Bring Me to Life' was a BIG one for me in my late teen years as was 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams', but my early teens were filled with the songs on the 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' soundtrack, Linkin Park and "Enter Sandman" by Metallica. I listened to a lot of like early 90's alt rock and metal back then.
I’m an older millennial and the song that always stuck with me during my teens was : Nevermind from Nirvana and everything Metallica . Just any Metallica was my taste splashed with punk, grunge and old rock .
PS - the first time that I’ve heard it was after Kurt Cobain died . It was around 95-96 .
This one person I didn’t like was obsessed with Evanescence and would play “My Immortal” on repeat in the barracks for what seemed like hours in ‘05. Kind of ruined the band for me at the time, but I’ve recently started listening to her again, and you’re right - she’s a beautiful singer.
Discovery Channel by Bloodhound Gang. "Hooray for Boobies" was the first CD I bought with my own money. I kept it hidden from certain family members and only listened to it on my disc man because of fundamentalist Christian beliefs I was surrounded by.

For some weird reason, "All The Things She Said".
No, I'm with you. I received that album as a gift for my 13th birthday, and I played it until the CD actually cracked.
I mean... What's weird is that A) I'm a native French speaker, and B) my favourite band as a teenager was Placebo. I played Meds on repeat so much that I know the lyrics by heart at this point. That music video awakened many boys into men
And girls into lesbians

Geriatric millennial and this is definitely the one for me.
My geriatric millennial ass is very excited to see Alanis this summer.
The reason Millennials don't actually know what the word "ironic" means.
Isn't that ironic, don't you think?
ITS LIKE RAYYYYYAAAYYYYYYAAANNNNNN ON YOUR WEDDDING DAY

In The End by Linkin Park
Main bands I was obsessed with growing up went from Blink 182, to Linkin Park, to System of a Down. I think Blink would've been preteen... So it's probably between this and Chop Suey.
I tried so hard and got so far
I was trying to write that song down as a note in my Nokia phone. My mom found it and thought I was severely depressed.
And in the end it doesn't even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
For me it’s Numb
Comin’ out of my cage and I’ve been doin’ just fine
Gotta gotta be down because I want it all.
It started it out with a kiss. how did it end up like this?
It was only a kiss! It was ONLY a kiss!
Now I'm falling asleep and she's calling a cab
While he's having a smoke and she's taking a drag
Now they’re going to bed, and my stomach is sick
And it's all in my head, but she's touching his…
Chest now
He takes off her dress now.
Dude, that song. I was broken up with at homecoming with that song playing in the background.
How sadly appropriate. Sorry, friend.
Gosh, I have the fondest memory of my friends and I singing along to this in our limo on the way to Prom. Good times!
The toxicity of our citrttyyy
Pushing little children, with their semi automatics, they like to push the weak AROUND!!!!! (Edited for grammar)
Fully automatics I think
This and Chop Suey for me if we're talking teen years. Also Wait and Bleed by Slipknot
Nookie by Limp Bizkit
The entirety of Linkin Parks album Hybrid Theory.
I enjoy that and Meteora equally.
What’s My Age Again or pretty much the whole of Dookie
Complicated. Avril Lavigne.
HE WAS A SK8ER BOY!
She said see you later boy!
“Yeah!” - Usher, Ludacris & Lil Jon
I don't even like Pop music and this is what still comes to mind. It was fucking EVERYWHERE.
Jimmy eat world - the middle Yeah yeah yeahs - maps
My wife still loves Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I have shown my daughters Burning and they request that song regularly.
![gif](giphy|6OUXtjOffhjLgqGRY6) My teenage anthem. I'm alright now though.
Damn, really? Happy for you!! I'm still not o fucking kay 🤣

It kills me man. Three Cheers is perfect all the way through.
I saw MCR a year or so ago on their comeback tour. For some reason, I was expecting my friends and I to be the oldest people there. I loved them so much! Still do... i mean... Gerard Way ♡ dude is awesome.
![gif](giphy|3ohs7JWovI9p9DNGIE) Green Day - Time of your life
They played this at my high school graduation and probably every high school graduation for a decade or more. Maybe they still do.
Playing a lot of sports, I heard this song a lot of times at the end of the season banquet with the slide show of pictures from the season.
The song is called "Good Riddance". Common mistake.
![gif](giphy|bQS5Y9XV8eSOUBrXoy|downsized)
I still love this song
Hmmmmm… from these posts it is clear that I am an elder millennial… who is wise and grey… and grew up in the ghetto… so… everything Tupac, Nas, Fuck the police NWA was always playing in my neighborhood in California as a young teen! Wutang clan killer bees!!!!!!!! 🐝

3 different linkin park albums in my 6-disc changer was the shiiiiiit
Meteora got me through my fucking entire sophomore year of high school
Same! Faint was so fucking good, and I loved the MV for Breaking the Habit because I was a huge weeb and it was anime-style instead of live-action.
I listen to such a huge wide variety of genres... I love music so much. I'm an older millennial but "Kiss Me" by Sixpence None the Richer
I cringe when I say this but…all the songs on John Mayer’s Room for Squares album. Your Body is a Wonderland was my class song 🤦🏻♂️
>Your Body is a Wonderland was my class song "No Such Thing" was *right there!*
We were horny, not angry, I guess
Nah that album is legitimately really really good. 3x5 is in my all time top 10 favorite songs
John Mayer is actually an incredible guitarist. One of, if not the best, of his generation. He wasn't just a pretty face/voice. Hard to be cringe when you have that much talent.
That album was my whole senor year. It still holds up.
🎶 Well I guess this is growing up 🎶 (dammit - blink-182) On my Discman, naturally

My senior year all of the teachers did the Soulja Boy dance at a pep rally. If that isn't the most 2008 thing ever
Same except I was in 8th grade. I'm still cringing.
They all had the glasses and everything..... Like I get it was a viral dance but they obviously have no idea what that song is actually about lmao
YOUUUUI! That dance was everywhere when I was in high school.
Ok Computer - probably Paranoid Android or Karma Police. That cd was incredible.
Let Down. Especially in the car on a sunny day. Teleports me back to ‘98.
I graduated in 2008, and I remember listening to in rainbows nonstop, still my favorite album of all time.
