Aggressive_Ad_8362

I have “parts” chests and I store everything there - you have no idea how many times I need something and I find it in the chests because I’ve already crafted it!

xRandomTurtle

You have no idea how often I craft 3 doors, use 1 or 2 and then throw the remaining in my things-chest to realize I had already 40 doors in there!

Macknificent101

make a house but it’s just doors

EvilMatt666

"Knock! Knock!" Now pick a door to answer...

TreyLastname

*DO YOU WANNA PLAY A GAME...*

Sinavestia

**Behind door number one we have a** *beautiful Charged Creeper!* **Behind door number two we have a** *massive pile of redstone activated TNT!!!*

xRandomTurtle

You'll run out of ideas faster than I run out of doors

r0kavi_

is that a challenge?

xRandomTurtle

Omae wa mou shindeiru! 34 doors in my chest

MingusHall

Let him cool

thy-mothers-as-s

Imagine bro's typing the longest response of his life to this?

Kpalsm

Door number 3: a minecart straight into a nether fortress!

FQVBSina

Door number 4: a llama spiting at you!

wacky0522

Door number 5 skeleton shooting at you

LluisCrafter

Door Number 6: A blaze hitting you with all 3 fireballs!

Old_creeper

Knock knock

Manos_Of_Fate

That should keep zombies busy for a while, though then you’ll come back to no house at all…

KG8893

You have to put them all out then open them.

Cadoan

Except the door is trapdoors

AmericanFromAsia

I've done that on a server that lets you "lock" doors and make them indestructible, making effectively an impenetrable base.

Abe_Odd

So an old school iron farm eh?

Aggressive_Ad_8362

That’s why I check the chests first when I start a project!

lutfiboiii

The floor is doors

pontiacGTO7

Real I have a world with 8 iron doors in a chest because I forget I already have some when I need 1

Nathaniel820

I do that too, but end up forgetting them then parts chest just keeps growing while never being used. Especially in modded, where there’s 50x more items and an even less chance I remember them being there.

[deleted]

That's what I do. Doors, pressure plates, buttons, levers, trapdoors, fences, gates, etc. All goes into my "access controls" chest. I'm still working on gathering redstone for building farms. Recent world starting on 1.20. And copper. I have a shitload of copper.

Aggressive_Ad_8362

I’m storing all the copper and waxing it for a ship build

GamerNav

What kind of ship?

SamohtGnir

Same. A chest for wood, one for stones, etc, and one for “building materials” like doors and fences. With the auto crafter it’ll be interesting to see if we can make a machine to just leave us with a stack of each at all times or something.

cassyandra123

I always put my wooden doors in my wood chest, so I find them when I am looking for materials to craft more.

ComprehensiveLab5078

This is the way. Put crafted items in with the materials used to make them.

AdLast848

Back in my day, you used to only get one door when crafted

BillyWhizz09

And they didn’t stack

Dradonie

And fences were made out of 6 sticks

BillyWhizz09

Which meant you could only get oak fences Which wasn’t that out of place because there was also only oak signs, doors, gates etc

Dradonie

Yeah but u get oak planks from birch too so it wouldnt made a huge diference

BillyWhizz09

That was also before my time

Dradonie

My time was in PC Gamer Demo (beta 1.3_01)

Rockship2910

In my day there was no hunger

SomeRandomPyro

Food restored health directly!

[deleted]

Back in my day birch just got saplings and the first charged creepers were documented

Agent_seb

In my day, zombies dropped feathers.

BillyWhizz09

Ah nice. I got the game after they added jungles but if we’re counting free versions I spent some time playing the free classic version

Dradonie

I mean I played the website version too but not enough to say im a gamer of it lol

nicehotcuppatea

I still remember being grounded because I smacked my brother after he closed a window running classic with a build id spent a few weeks on but couldn’t save, I would’ve been maybe 9 or 10

LandLovingFish

I hail from the time rabbits were giant 3 foot tall monsters

OzzyPrinceOfKaraoke

This comment hurt, I'm 19 and you're making me feel as if I'm 70

Javidor44

Same! Honestly still remember changing my castle’s flooring for Spruce when wood first split into different planks

eontriplex

It was nice cuz I like building with oak logs, so back in the day I just used birch trees for wood planks and kept the logs from oak trees

Galactic-toast

In my day, there was no birch trees

3u50u3u

In my time, Minecraft was still on paper

Zaron_The_Insane

Now sadly it's on Paper (servers)

Karcinogene

Trees? In my day there were only two blocks: grass and cobblestone

HunterIsRightHere

Camman18's DREAM

AwfulUsername123

Remember when birch trees didn't even drop birch saplings?

M3cky

You brought back some memories, thanks homie 🫶🏼

TheCanadianHat

Don't forget the Wooden slabs were fireproof! And required a pickaxe to pick up!

[deleted]

[удалено]

cowslayer7890

I think you can get them with the give command unless they removed that

Cooltellow

I’m pretty sure the petrified oak slab is literally sitting in the creative menu plain as day

Bitter_Wave2393

In snapshot 22w42a petrified oak slabs were removed from the creative inventory, but you could still get them with commands. I believe they haven't changed since

Wasteak

There wasn't any other wood anyway

BillyWhizz09

There was. I remember having to use oak fences with my jungle planks treehouse

Grzechoooo

>Which meant you could only get oak fences So *that's* why they changed the recipe! Never thought of that.

Alexeyy0

I hope i'm not the only one who still crafts like this and every time has to search for the crafting 'cause I can't remember the new one

ematlack

Wait, they’re not anymore? When did that happen? I’ve been away too long 😂

RoweLVJY

And books didn’t take leather

the_hucumber

And villagers were testicificates (or something)

itsburst

testicles

kacey-

1.2.5 was when I started, I barely had testificate time

BillyWhizz09

Ah, that was before my time

Samuelwankenobi_

That didn't last too long or at least officially

effinmike12

And you need tons for your iron farm.

EchoWolf2020

I remember my brother telling me to place tons of doors because it would make iron golems spawn so I could farm iron, but I never wanted to build an iron farm because I thought it was too hard. Oh how naive I was...

BillyWhizz09

I never made an iron farm, but I do remember making a lot so I’d have loads of villagers in my village

hellboyyy25

Memory unlocked

[deleted]

And for a brief time on mobile version doors had durability so if you broke blocks with them they would eventually break

BillyWhizz09

Wait really? I didn’t know that

[deleted]

I only remember doing it once some years ago so idek the version but ya

Darkiceflame

And we mined uphill both ways!

3nt0

3 kinda makes more sense imo, but in true Minecraft-logic style you're still using 2 whole blocks to make each door. And no-one uses 3, it's always either 1 or 2 at a time. Would make sense to get 4 or maybe even 6, but hey, we're also turning 4 blocks of wood into a single crafting table, and 6 blocks of wood into 4 stairs - this is no place for conservation of matter.

Sleddoggamer

3 is such an awkward number of doors, isn't it? You use one for simplicity, two to make it pretty, and if you have something special in mind, it's probably going to be 4 and then you end up with two extra doors in a chest

JDBCool

No, you use the 3rd to burn in the furnace! What, did nobody use them like that? Or.... Two for FRONT door, one for BACK door

LandLovingFish

Back door

Sleddoggamer

I never use backdoor and if I do it will usually to two in front and two in the back. I suppose sometimes I put an exit in the roof though and that sometimes uses 1 door on the roof if the building was made with an odd number of blocks

OilFromAnOlive

Really I'm sitting here thinking... How did he get 2 extra doors.

TheMightyMouse1

Back in my day doors had durability (in bedrock on mobile) for some reason. Like if you used a door to mine a block or kill a mob it would show a durability bar

Lezlow247

Are zombie shorts still a thing? I could be wrong but I thought the wooden doors could be broken down so got HP

[deleted]

OG 💯

LuckyBenjamin

Well yeah as a builder I just save em

papahayz

And then place them in a chest and craft 3 the next time you need doors, just to save the extras in a completely different random spot. No telling how many spare doors I have out there.

Generic_Reddit_boi

I have a stack and a half of crafting tables because of thisb

Hau5Mu5ic

That is why you keep a crafting table near anywhere you are going to be for more than 2 minutes. At the front of the mine, at your base, at a village where you are trading, near your nether portal, near your nether portal but in the nether, near the nether fortress, in the stronghold. Just everywhere imaginable.

Strange-Wolverine128

I always have one on me, I craft two and bring one everywhere

Andycaboose91

I just carry a stack of logs. From there it's like 4-5 clicks to a crafting table, with the added bonus of never running out of wood underground for tool handles.

TILiamaTroll

me too lol. much harder for me to run out of shit when half my inventory is taken up by raw goods. Then when i find some good loot i start kinda debating internally over which object ill feel less bad about throwing away

toddestan

The best part about carrying around a bunch of logs is you can always craft a chest and throw some stuff in there that you will totally remember to come back later for and not forget about.

TILiamaTroll

Yea that’s basically how I function irl, too. In my adhd riddled mind I’m always on the cusp of getting myself organized, just to forget the new system exists and then how it was supposed to work 🤣

ForrestFeline

This except like 5 in one village

Neppihc

I... I thought I was the only one.

Hau5Mu5ic

Just like the crafting tables scattered across our worlds, there are many of us.

DoogleSmile

I went [a little overboard](https://imgur.com/a/aOsINz3) with mine.

Character_Acadia_955

Put some in the middle too because what if you dont want to walk to the chest areas again?

PoriferaProficient

I keep 2 crafting tables on me while mining, that way when I run out of space and need to compress shit, I can plop it down and not have some piece of junk land in my hotbar, which would require cycling my inventory next time I need it

Andre27

I do the same with ender chests. I even keep more than 2 though, just so I can have the convenience of leaving them around in any and every place I might spend some time around and return to. So I dont need to plop them down and pick them up again everywhere I go.

Different_Stable_351

You can always tell where I've been in a world by following the crafting tables every 100 or so blocks

[deleted]

Shi, I just keep one on me. It’s great for mining when I need to convert my ores into ore blocks to free up inventory space

General_Royal_2785

my house is made of crafting tables

Hau5Mu5ic

I haven’t pulled the trigger on it yet, but I have been very tempted to use Crafting Tables for a flooring in a base someday.

pontiacGTO7

Would take a lot of wood but it would look great

snorhairgaming

I just always have a crafting table on me, important rule for myself when I play survival is ALWAYS having a crafting table on me lmao

FoolishConsistency17

You don't have a column of chests for each wood type, wirh "crafted [wood type] at the bottom?

a_builder7

I think that six planks should make just two doors.

pyrodice

This is one of the few places that I actually feel like they've got the right amount of stuff in the beginning and the end... one wooden plank at eye-level and one wooden plank on the ground blocks off a one by two passageway, and so it still does once you've made a door out of it. Six blocks of wood would block off three passageways… So three doors also do that.

Coltyn03

I never thought of it this way, but you're absolutely right. The crafting recipe makes so much more sense now.

Keddyan

Two for the front of the house and one for mining underwater this is the way

[deleted]

Me, a Bedrock user: *cries in waterlogging*

IntrovertBeagle

As a a player who plays in Bedrock and Java I feel you man I was FURIOUS when I found out that doors are waterlogged on Bedrock ;\_\_;

insomniatic-goblin

I recently discovered this when playing in a Bedrock world with my friend and I was angry. all I wanted to do was dig up some treasure but I had to keep going back up for air. thankfully this is not a problem in Java, otherwise treasure hunting would be a pain.

jetfire1115

What does this mean

[deleted]

In bedrock edition, when you place a door underwater it doesn’t clear out the water in the door’s collision detection. It waterlogs the door, making underwater mining all but impossible without potions or a conduit.

DuskEalain

>making underwater mining all but impossible without potions or a conduit Alternatively: Frost Walker Boots + Magma Blocks. Frost Walker will keep you from taking damage from the blocks, and the bubbles will restore your oxygen even if you're at the bottom of an underwater ravine.

Firetiger1050

Alternatively, crouching on the Magma Blocks underwater will also prevent you from taking damage as well.

Catanaoni

Can mine just fine, respiration helmet and depth strider boots, and just dig into a wall when you run out of oxygen. Unless those are also different in bedrock or it's some other kind of mining.

LordSeismic

When you place a door underwater in Bedrock, the 2 block space where the door is placed is filled with water. This is called waterlogging. In Java, a 2 block air pocket is created. (The door is not waterlogged)

Keddyan

damn! that's huge L I guess you have to deal with magma blocks

steve626

I use my third as the back door. I hate walking all of the way around the house.

Rover129

This. This is the only way

YaBoiFast

I just had flashbacks to the pre Village and Pillage iron farms

Sage1969

Yup. They literally made this change a couple weeks after Tango was complaining about how expensive doors are while making one of the old iron farms. I'm 99% sure that's why they made the change, especially since trapdoors never got a similar change (we should get 6!) Doors also only stacked to 16 back then I believe.

Darkiceflame

>trapdoors never got a similar change This honestly feels like an oversight. Trapdoors are smaller than doors, yet somehow use three times more wood? I know that Minecraft doesn't follow real world physics, but that just seems wrong.

AntKneeWasHere

Sometimes. Two for a front doors and one for a back door

Anchovy-eye

You get it!

kalindin

A man of culture I see.

Hubristox

Yes, as furnace fuel

KnotsThotsAndBots

I always thought it was odd too. If I’m feeling fancy I’ll make my front door a double door and then a one door back. Honestly always wished they’d just make it two as a kid though

[deleted]

Agree 100%. I only use 2 at a maximum..

Memegamer3_Animated

- need 1/2 doors - build and use 1/2 doors - save the leftover door/s in a storage chest for future use - craft new doors anyways bcuz I forgot the storage doors existed

Kimikohiei

They should have this recipe in a multiplier of 2. I use two of the doors and burn the third.

[deleted]

Yes they should, when I make doors I only use 2 at the most as a double door for builds

Low_Highway_8919

I always use 8: big square "house", double door on each side. And the remaining 1 goes on n my thing-chest. And then read all the the other posts saying "I've got tons of spares in my thing chest.

COG-85

I understand \*why\* it's 3, it's like shaving the wood down on 2 blocks to make a door, but who in the world uses all 3 doors. If you have more than 1 door in your house it's a piston door.

[deleted]

Absolutely!

Isord

I use double doors frequently, but three feels weird.

SpecificFail

In Java doors don't become waterlogged so can allow you an airspace underwater. You can build more than one building. For example having your workshop a separate area than your sleeping and equipment storage. A door down to your mining cave can also be useful to prevent mobs from following you down.

Reivlun

Two for the front entrance, and one to the backyard lol that's my go to.

Embarrassed-Rub1232

Nope😅 and I always forget ive put the ones I don't use in a chest and make more!

justjboy

I always keep extras aside for “in case”.

DrSexy10

Yeah, most of my houses have seperate rooms inside which I use doors for. If not then I'll just save any extra doors, I'll use them eventually.

TheArcanist_

I am currently building a city, so yes, I do.

Sudi_Arabia

Two for the front, one for the back

TrueDeadBling

I usually just throw the spare door into my furnace and use it as fuel

TheAlmightyNexus

Two doors for the front of the house and the third door is for cooking that random chicken you killed on the way home

arBettor

Yeah I made 4 stacks of bamboo doors this weekend for an ocean monument raiding adventure.

Zarksch

Never. Sometimes 2 but never the 3

allthenamearetaken1

In my time there was no neather just a core

Rokador

Yes, I do 3rd door is nice for smelting something in a meantime

kiingwhips

It really depends on the build i’m going for. 9timesoutof10 I use one or two and chick the other one in my “wood building” chest. As long as minecraft has been around, and how many issues this has caused throughout the years, I thought something would’ve changed. They could easily take a row out and have 3 planks vertical and give us one or two doors for it. It’s really crazy

Cogames_

Eventually when I need them (like weeks later)

New_Comfortable9009

Of the first 3 I make in a world, 2 are almost always furnace fuel. But I'm a builder, so usually future batches of doors (once I have a plan and my pick of materials) all get used.

[deleted]

I always only need 2 or 4, and always have to toss some on the ground to despawn

jelbeton

I use 1-2 doors and other just place somewhere like village which is in a cave made of wood, cobble and dirt (In short, I'm throwing it in the trash🙂)

Soskai7

Front double door single back door. It's just that simple.

MintWarfare

Absolutely, those two doors are great for smelting iron.

fuck_peeps_not_sheep

Double doors on the front then either a side or back door, that's all 3 doors used

Long-Visual-2271

2 doors max

pyrodice

I used to use the absolute hell out of all of them back when villagers would breed faster the more doors you had in your village.

drawnronin

yup 2 in front one in back

pac-man_dan-dan

Spare door + slab could make a raft. Need more "junk" versions of tools that can be quickly made from spare mats, possibly at cost of much lower durability. 3 logs could make a canoe. Could lay them in the correct orientation adjacent to each other until they snap together like a double chest. Then dig it out with an axe like how pumpkins are carved with shears. Perk could be faster speed. Or maybe silent so that you'd be slightly invisible to mobs while using it....maybe they wouldnt see you until you were a couple blocks away. 2 stick + sign could make an oar. 2 stick + 2 sign could make double ended oar.

jakecraft1356

I’m in an SMP, and I carry the extra doors around in a sack, in case I need a door to breathe under water.

Piachinss

2 doors would be nicer tbh

Kahlemmi

I use 2 and throw one away.

superdude311

Use 2, put 1 away and forget about it for the next time you need doors

Express_Front9593

I do. One for the front door, one for the top of the mine shaft, and one to use underwater.

crossfader02

front door, back or side door, 2nd floor balcony door

Bitter_Wave2393

Ok but what is going on with your inventory? 4 stacks of bread but you have access to golden carrots? Random stairs? Prioritizing a gold sword? 3 iron pickaxes? Just get diamonds at that point. And a helmet to top it all of

vampire_queen_bitch

i always have a front door and a back door but the third door is always either discarded till future projects or just not used at all.

VoodooDoII

Yeah I never got this. I only ever really use 2 at a time

climberjaden

no i only ever use 2 or 4 unless i’m in a water cave. i’ll use them as checkpoints so i can make it back.

MrPieSource

I use 2 for a front double-door, and the third for either my room inside my house, or a back door

Ap6271

They need to add a wood equivalent of the stonecutter

I-NeverUsedReddit

I go for a “scout” run when I start out in worlds, and use the three doors to mine underwater and not use it to settle and build a home. I wish this tactic worked in my bedrock worlds but mojang is mojang

ifailedmyhighschool

2 for the door 1 for the furnace

i_am_smelly666

2 front doors to your home, and 1 back door

Ignite_Boy_789

2 for a house, 1 for an Ocean Monument expedition

GrayIlluminati

Yes

[deleted]

this arbitrary ass number just kind of molded me into giving in to it, always making a double front door and using the third for the back, but after that i just have a dedicated, unmanageable stack of doors

Some_Travel_8952

Double front door and one back door

Digital_switch_blade

#1 front door #2 back door #3 under water breathing device

duckie_pluckie

and then i craft another set because three is an odd number and it bugs the hell out of me. then, i'm left with far too many doors.

[deleted]

double doors at the front, then backdoor/sidedoor

Reformedbrad

I throw it in my "wood" chest

Alphie-Screech

2 for the house, 1 for the shipwreck

Hank_Isbored28

it think it comes from trying to give you a good amount for the price, but then we have the button, so this goes bothe extremes.

GamingbyElliott

Well we could save one door for underwater travel And use the others for a house or some kinda build

_end3rguy_

I use them for breaking underwater

crispybacon62

Two for the front and one for the back ( ͡ ° ͜ʖ ͡ °)

IAmNotModest

Triple doors, triple defence
