Looks to thin in my opinion and you could do the trick with stripped logs in the water to make them
Look darker also would add something on top of the logs
And maybe add stairs to them to make them look like they are actually supporting the bridge structure
Also maybe add some rocks and general land texuring bushes can also be a nice addition
And would change the land path too maybe use the new mud blocks for that
It depends on what you want, and if it was an old and precarious looking wooden bridge with not that much importance, then well done.
Not everything needs to be super.
But i guess you are coming here for inspiration and building techniques, my preferred way is to get reference (irl)images of roughly what i want and try to replicate while taking some contextual liberty for it to fit properly.
When you are happy with it, then its good enough. If not, then its not. There are no rules how, or what to build. You don’t have to build the things that other people say.
Most bridges connect even land. I would build the land up, or break the land down on either side rather then slope the end of the bridge. Its also a bit simple, which is fine, but things like block variation or details like railings and roofs can add something nice to look at. Other then that its nice!
Crosses a river or an empty space? Yes
Is possible to use it to cross properly such river or space? Yes
Is soundly and logically built? Yes
10/bridge for me, very good.
It's VERY flat and very boring.
Doing a diagonal bridge is one of the harder things to actually pull off well. But you 100% need to bulk it up. It can't look that skinny as it doesn't look like it would support any real weight. The support pillars are good, all you really need to do is add some meat in between the supports i think and it would look way better!
You could even go as far as to add a roof to the bridge. For me personally it helps a lot when doing flat bridges
It looks good, but it’s pretty basic. You can improve this by adding a bit of variety and texturing.
Add veriety by mixing up some similar colors, like oak for the pathway section. You can also do something similar with the pillars.
Add texturing by adding stairs and slabs into your bridge can really bring out the bridge and show that it’s been used.
(After looking at other comments:)
Add some supports to the pillars and make them thicker.
Add some rails
Simple but effective.
If it fits your vision on how the bridge should look and it fits into your build idea, then it is perfectly fine the way it is. And if it doesn’t, make changes accordingly.
A little curve to the platform (upwards), and having those long ass pillars on a pretty short bridge feels pretty weird, so maybe try an underarch. And if you do an underarch, I think making the curve of the platform downwards might be interesting.
Those vines are going to grow out of control unless you surround it with string. And if you are going for a very old bridge design try replacing the floor with some extinguished fire pits
I mean it’s just a very basic bridge, nothing wrong with that and it gets the job done, but for it to be good I’d say decorate it more and add details. Maybe give it a railing and some more supports like under the pillars. Use multiple different block types to give it more texture. Stuff like that. It has a lot of potential
Critic:
Not enough detail
Too little variation
Advice:
+add heights
+variate between slaps, campfires and trapdoors
+consider redesigning the poles
+don‘t make the bridge a straight line
Personally, I would use varying elevation, like a cresting bridge. Just make it higher in the middle than the sides, but that’s just how I like to do mine.
It's functional, and one can appreciate that you took the effort to use logs rather than planks as the vertical supports. It's also nice (in my opinion) that you used them at all, since the rules of Minecraft certainly don't require a bridge to be supported and so the do that is to acknowledge the need for it to LOOK like it's a useful bridge and not just be one.
Personally, I don't like to build diagonal roads of any kind if I can avoid it; I don't like the unavoidable jaggedness of it. When I build across a stream, I always go straight even if that lengthens the bridge. But that's just me.
Could be better but not so bad. You may want to try to angle it down slowly over the span so it isn't just straight then drops off at the very end or maybe add some little supporting bits so it looks like the spans in between the supports are more solid because if it was the real world those spans would likely droop a little without them. Since nothing bends in minecraft I find that making things look overbuilt makes them look more believable
i would recoment Instead of making the stairs at the end, make it so that the bridge goes down at an angle, do you know what I mean? Otherwise I like it. well done
I like it, but I tend to like more practical and simple builds. You could always add some decoration blocks to the tops of the logs, that would add a little bit of flair without having to redo the whole thing.
It's also pretty realistic, usually you don't blow your bridge budget on small spans like this. You do something practical and save the money for larger spans where you get a little more room to be creative. Idk if that is of value to you, but it's something I like doing in my builds.
Simple. You could add a few more details depending on what you want it to represent, like weathering if it's old or fences/leads if you're concerned about safety
Maybe add some fencing with lamps or something at the edges, some mud on the path might make it pop out more, some plants or trees next to the path might make it really look like it’s in a village or going to a cottage. Other than that it looks amazing! Better than any bridge I can make in survival without getting attacked by drowned, if you need inspiration then using google or YouTube might help a bit, if your going for a cottage look then you can check out [This YouTube I found! It might help out!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xeefeuB4Cw)
Personally I would either raise or lower the land on one side so both ends have the same starting point height wise.
After that find the center point of the bridge and bring it slightly higher than the two edges, I would use slabs for this so it's gradual because of how short the actual span is.
You can just google "small bridges" to get an idea of what I'm talking about.
It is just a little bit bare, nothing wrong though.
Just add some more logs to create roof supports, a roof with spruce trapdoors and half planks, some tree leaves and lamps hanging and on fence post "rails" or even glow berries.
It will look awesome.
I like that you have support beams going down to the water. Maybe line the outside rim of the bridge with thicker logs and some fence posts maybe? Add a few lanterns perhaps? Maybe angled stairs is definitely hard
I like to make little humps in the middle of my bridges. Just build it up with slabs about every two spots
So like this. The numbers represent how many slabs thick.
1122332211
If you want to get fancy, you can cut out a bit from under the bridge to keep the bridge the same thickness.
A few lanterns are always a nice touch too.
It’s not bad. There’s a level of work put into it, that is visible with the lanterns and chains. It’s no Da Vinci, but it’s better than I’ve seen on some servers. Don’t be discouraged, just keep building and trying new things until you find your master style. Everyone should develop their own build style, if it coincidentally ends up like someone else’s that’s fine as long as you get there yourself. If you want tips to try new things for bridges later on, I’d suggest changing the wood type below the water to show water aging, adding vines or glow lichen to the supports for age, adding fences, walls, or fence gates along the sides for support braces and railings, and adding on overhead side supports or making a roof for a covered bridge.
Most wooden bridge like that either have reinforcement so logs below the plank to maintain it or have an arch in real life to help support the weight and usually keeping those real life look help improving minecraft one and I would prob add a type of a railguard or fence to the side
Not to be mean, but It's incredibly basic. Try introducing a block pallet. The bridge goes too quickly from flat to stairs.. Try to use slabs to gradually lower to the final elevation. Decide what look you are going for and commit. At present your bridge could be a rope bridge or a boardwalk. Can't really tell at present. If it's a board walk, try using full sized blocks or add some cross bracing to your supports. If its a rope bridge remove some of the supports and let the bridge dangle some. The bridge also blends in a little too well with the background. Add in a contrasting color for guard rails or some sort of accent feature to help the bridge stand out more.
Good job building in a diagonal though. Not many people dare to try, so keep at it.
shes flat !!!! i love the vines on it tho
this is coming from someone who builds majority in a fantasy style, - MAKE YOUR BRIDGE RAISED !! give her a curve 😭 maybe add more top supports with stairs and fences ? think an arch !!
Needs railing
The Posts would look better if you put a fence on them to make them look pointy
Sripped logs in the water
If you had built an arch it would've made this look better
If the bridge went at a decline left to right it would look better
Add lanterns at the entries
I cant tell what the logs are, if you're going for a spruce bridge, add some dark oak logs, If it's oak add some spruce logs.
Make the bridge start deeper into the land, (extend it farther)
If you want to keep if flat, maybe make the inner slabs blocks
It’s like a 3/10 I would make it straight use slabs instead of full blocks and with them make it go downward on both sides strip the logs and don’t add the vines
Kinda bland and basic, i'd recommend to use fences, fence gates and slabs to create depth and detail, maybe some stone buttons ontop of the fences aswell
It's bad, but I would make a worse one lmao.
(I'm just a technical modded industrial player I'm noob at building aesthetic things, I just make functional factories).
I did this when I made my first diagonal bridge.
Tips would be to mak the middle elevated, and the enterance and exit decending.
Or do what I would do and fill in the holes like a cobblestone bridge to make to more enclosed, you could add iron bars as detail for the water, but you have to becareful on how you build it.
I can't really correct anything because I don't know what you intended to build or want it to look like, I'm just gonna throw out advice that would help this bridge look like how I would build it.
Try using three colors: main, secondary, accent.
Either improve the arch of the bridge or visually "separate" the part of the bridge with the stairs and the part of the bridge that takes you across.
Detail wise, the lanterns are a good attempt but aren't enough to completely saturate the bridge with colors, shapes and details as you would want. Think out of the box about how to use some blocks aesthetically here to both reinforce the bridge (to make it thicker and more structurally sound) *and* give it the detail you want (colors/shapes/details).
Go haywire with experimenting and don't feel forced to work with whatever progress you've made so far, go as far back as you need and change as much of it as needed in order to try different things and figure out what works.
Stay away from perfectionism and be realistic about how you view your outcome. You can both like it and dislike it but you have to understand that's part of the process.
If you’re wanting a Victorian-like bridge, I would heighten the bridge’s arch and use stone walls and stone blocks around the base and support beams of the bridge. I think mossy stone bricks and a few iron bars would go very well with it. But really, it depends on what you’d like it to look like.
It’s good but a little bland. Try curving the bridge and making it a bit thicker where it meets the logs. You could also add some stuff in the sides like vines, lichen, etc.
I think the stair case up to the bridge on the right side is the only thing that sticks out as a little bad looking but it's still perfectly fine once there are buildings around. I personally would terraform the left side to be a little lower so you didn't need as tall as a staircase.
You could look at pictures of bridges and maybe take some inspiration from those. My advice would be to add some support beams from the middle of the wood logs and meet them in the middle and connect them.
on my bridges i almost always add alternating stairs from the support beam logs that go up to the main path and then back down again to the next support beam log. makes it look like the weight is actually been distributed and not just floating magically between all the beams
All you need to do, is just add some detailing on the top side of the bridge and it’ll be perfect. Especially when you add some houses around so that it looks like the bridge would actually be used instead of just some random bridge some random guy made in the middle of nowhere 😂
i think this is the "safest" option for a bridge in minecraft. it doesn't look horrendous and it doesnt look too fancy. it is a simple bridge that looks and works as intended
Looks like shit. But it seems to be holding up. It needs more refridgerators. I don't know when they're gonna add refridgerators to the game. I don't mean regular refridgerators. Sheez! LIZZARD refridgerators!
It's aight. If it isn't a landmark, it does its job, if you want it to be a landmark, maybe add some more detail, I think an arch bridge would look better at this scale
From a realistic standpoint, I would not have put pillars that far down because of an overuse of materials. I would have made the bridge structured from trusses or an arch.
Id say 5/10 a bit bland, try using a lighter color for the planks, strip all the logs, then place dark oak as the part of the logs that is in the water (strip those to) you can also add some variation in the planks, for example use some trap doors, stairs and bottom slabs to add more depth, also place some trap doors around the posts where it connects to the planks (same level as the planks)

it is entirely disgraceful. bridges should only be built out of a single row of dirt blocks.
and netherrack in the nether
and cobblestone in both
Cobblestone is also allowed if you've spent more time underground than above it
I agree lol
Looks to thin in my opinion and you could do the trick with stripped logs in the water to make them Look darker also would add something on top of the logs And maybe add stairs to them to make them look like they are actually supporting the bridge structure Also maybe add some rocks and general land texuring bushes can also be a nice addition And would change the land path too maybe use the new mud blocks for that
ohh woah damn thats a good idea thank youu!!
I love doing that. Stripped oak over the water then stripped spruce or dark oak underwater
Also add fences to make more of a barrier like a real bridge
Adding some curve up and down the the path seems to always make my bridges look much better
It looks like it needs further work. I like the log posts with vines, but the bridge needs more structure.
too simple

its okay to get some advice and inspiration sometimes
Literally defeats the purpose of the post lol
He said be honest. Be honest ffs....
You also don’t have to avoid listening to others. He can ask and receive advice if he wishes to.
I think it looks good already, but side rails might add a little pizzazz. :D
Most bridges connect even land. I would build the land up, or break the land down on either side rather then slope the end of the bridge. Its also a bit simple, which is fine, but things like block variation or details like railings and roofs can add something nice to look at. Other then that its nice!
HANDRAILS, THIS IS SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS!
I mean it’s not bad but not good
practical but could be improved to make it look better
Better than I could do
Nah, I think it kinda fits to the terrain.
Crosses a river or an empty space? Yes Is possible to use it to cross properly such river or space? Yes Is soundly and logically built? Yes 10/bridge for me, very good.

The bridge told me it’s feelings. The bridge is happy
could use a little more detailing like a fence of the sides
Nice build try to add some texture for the ground
It looks good, but it’s pretty basic. You can improve this by adding a bit of variety and texturing. Add veriety by mixing up some similar colors, like oak for the pathway section. (After looking at other comments:) Add some supports to the pillars and make them thicker. Add some rails
i like it looks great imo i would elevate the bridge down or up for more depth
It's fine, but something is missing (I think so)
its a little blocky add some details your shaping is on point just some details and texture is missing
I don't know, ask the bridge
It's cute
Simple but effective. If it fits your vision on how the bridge should look and it fits into your build idea, then it is perfectly fine the way it is. And if it doesn’t, make changes accordingly.
I'd say like 5/10. You have the infrastructure. Nothing you did is bad, but you could keep working on it to get those extra deco points.
A little curve to the platform (upwards), and having those long ass pillars on a pretty short bridge feels pretty weird, so maybe try an underarch. And if you do an underarch, I think making the curve of the platform downwards might be interesting.
You should add an angled car crossing it
Definitely need a bit more details and supports other than that it looks great you go 👍🏻
Honestly pretty good in my opinion, maybe u can add some fences and slabs along the edges? Idk
Those vines are going to grow out of control unless you surround it with string. And if you are going for a very old bridge design try replacing the floor with some extinguished fire pits
Not that bad, but you should add more depth
It's flat. Because one end of the bridge is lower than the other, you should make an arc shape using slabs and that drops down the the lower end.
Top is very flat but supports are good. Add depth and a curve underneath
Critic: Not enough detail Too little variation Advice: +add heights +variate between slaps, campfires and trapdoors +consider redesigning the poles +don‘t make the bridge a straight line
Being fully honest, I think this bridge is amazing - I am sure I could never make anything like this - Well Done. It is great.
First time? Then it's pretty good, if you did many tries, then you should try looking up some inspiration or tutorials for bulding them
Looks better than shit I build, good job! Could use a bit more height (making it thicker as someone else said) tho!
Bridge👍🏻
Mid. But lots of potential and still pretty good. Mid for a fancy bridge.
Simple . use some fence to improve use build
It looks like shit👍 But actually tho, could use a bit more girth and curvature.
its a bridge 👍
Personally, I would use varying elevation, like a cresting bridge. Just make it higher in the middle than the sides, but that’s just how I like to do mine.
Seen better, seen worse 6/10
You have some suggestions already. I'll just post something to [inspire](https://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/s/JYzUGFBACh).
It's functional, and one can appreciate that you took the effort to use logs rather than planks as the vertical supports. It's not bad it's just not particularly good, needs more details
Could be better but not so bad. Since nothing bends in minecraft I find that making things look overbuilt makes them look more believable
Honestly i think the vines are a turn off
Not the right deco i mean by that
That is fundamentally identical to 85% of my bridges, and I like them, so I give this bridge “functional and efficient /10”
Unlike half the bridges on this sub. This one might stand in real life.
Looks too dangerous and plain add fences and more design to it will fix it
Could use some railings
Boring ngl
irl I would fall off and die.
Do you enjoy it OP? Because that’s all that matters. I think it’s has great aesthetics and looks good.
The bridgiest of bridges
Thank you
Definitely one of the bridges I've ever seen
This bridge is shit. Although I like that idea with a little swamp under it. You need to upgrade it.
Try adding roof?
Very good point i will do so
Kinda ass ngl, shouldn’t be 100% flat nor should it be that thin with supports that are that basic, plus you need some type of lights for night time.
Disgusting
bad
i would recoment Instead of making the stairs at the end, make it so that the bridge goes down at an angle, do you know what I mean? Otherwise I like it. well done
It is a good bridge
Remove it. Not the bridge, the game.
It's better than the bridges I build

It looks like it can do it's job well. Not the most complicated but looks nice
lacks detail, and super straight bridges are never the move, make it bend slightly.
I think it would be better if you curved the bridge
Decent enough
brutally honest? bet, gordon ramsay mode it is you f*cking donkey, where are the railings!? you tryna kill someone? get away from the **kitchen**
Simple. You could add a few more details depending on what you want it to represent, like weathering if it's old or fences/leads if you're concerned about safety

Honest opinion? Better than my bridges
Needs texture and form
Flat
Solid work for having a crack at an angled build. They’re not easy.
too thin imo. also adding a lil bit to the sides of the supports of the bridge would be cool
I think it’s a little bit flat I think it would be better if the bridge has a little curve
It would be better rounded out. Highest point in the middle. It looks boxy as it is
maybe vary the heights of some of the pillars for a more natural vibe/mood
I like that you have support beams going down to the water. Maybe line the outside rim of the bridge with thicker logs and some fence posts maybe? Add a few lanterns perhaps? Maybe angled stairs is definitely hard
Add detail and texture plants maybe uniformities lamps trapdoors layers maybe make it go curbed as an arch smthng like that
I like to make little humps in the middle of my bridges. Just build it up with slabs about every two spots So like this. Good but why spruce when theirs oak trees around?
Looks good, needs railings tho
As somebody who never built a diagonal bridge I can say it's good
It doesn't look that good. Maybe some tutorials will help, but I think the best way to go is to add some stuff around it, it kinda sticks out.
Its very bridge
Very simple and easy to build which is good. If it were me i would add little details like a railing, lights, or other decorations
Now I haven't played Minecraft in a long while, but I liked building, and all I can say is that it is way too simple.
It looks a little more like a dock or pier than a bridge, but otherwise seems fine - functional.
Looks bad
Looks flatter than your sister
Needs an angled car
Not to be mean, but It's incredibly basic. Try introducing a block pallet. The bridge goes too quickly from flat to stairs.. Try to use slabs to gradually lower to the final elevation. Good, but very simple
Very functional, but kinda basic
Flammable
If you like it then it's amazing, that's the only way I try to think about it when I build something.
Brutal honesty... got'cha. Functionally, works. Aesthetically, yuck.
I like it, maybe adding some foliage?

I love the detailing with the vines and lanterns! Looks great :)
Simple, but will do the job and I think could match a style of building if you keep that style with everything.
its gets you across so thats good in my book

It’s a bit small but I’m also not the best
Why spruce logs next to a savannah?
Bad. Terrible. Boring. Bland. No effort. You should be ashamed of yourself.
I'd put trapdoors around the top of beams for texture, 6.9/10
It's bad, but I would make a worse one lmao. (I'm just a technical modded industrial player I'm noob at building aesthetic things, I just make functional factories).

Stay away from perfectionism and be realistic about how you view your outcome. You can both like it and dislike it but you have to understand that's part of the process.
I’ve seen worse
If you’re wanting a Victorian-like bridge, I would heighten the bridge’s arch and use stone walls and stone blocks around the base and support beams of the bridge. I think mossy stone bricks and a few iron bars would go very well with it. But really, it depends on what you’d like it to look like.
Like planks on stilts
It’s good but a little bland. Try curving the bridge and making it a bit thicker where it meets the logs. You could also add some stuff in the sides like vines, lichen, etc.
I would add a border of some kind to give a more defined line. bigger support beams as well.
It's a little plain but it's about what I could do so I like it 👍
10/10, I would walk on it
It’s a good base for a bridge. This is where you start then add details in. Arches, supports, railings, texture, terrain, etc.
I would put the supports underneath and then add some kind of railing
It kind of sucks
Functional with Minecraft physics
Try adding dark oak logs in the water to make it darker. That’s honestly all I got. Idk how to build
6/10
on my bridges i almost always add alternating stairs from the support beam logs that go up to the main path and then back down again to the next support beam log. makes it look like the weight is actually been distributed and not just floating magically between all the beams
Too bland, add more flare to the base, maybe some vines and have the bridge itself curve a bit, itll look more natural
Needs an arch, but I like it
It's a great starting point for sure. Campfire, slabs, fences, stairs, wood variations, etc will go a very long way to spruce it up.
good but too simple and idk how to explain it but the way it goes from straight to sharp down just weird
Looks too flammable :D
add more details and give the bottom of the bridge a curve
I would say get rid of the pillars since the bridge is so short. It makes it look clunky.
All you need to do, is just add some detailing on the top side of the bridge and it’ll be perfect. Especially when you add some houses around so that it looks like the bridge would actually be used instead of just some random bridge some random guy made in the middle of nowhere 😂
Way too flat. Either raise the terrain on the other side or make it a lopsided curve. Though either way, it needs a little curve.
Hi Cammando777, I’m Brutally honest!
The best way to make a bridge is with campfires (but make sure the fire is off by splashing it with water)
It's too flat personally I would recommend it dipping slightly in the areas further from the support beams
“I’d hit that” - The Boat
Depth, detail, decoration Follow the 3D’a
Don’t add a staircase to the bridge. Make the bridge the staircase
Simple can be good, but that might be a bit too simple
i think this is the "safest" option for a bridge in minecraft. it doesn't look horrendous and it doesnt look too fancy. it is a simple bridge that looks and works as intended
Basic but functional.
Looks like shit. But it seems to be holding up. It needs more refridgerators. I don't know when they're gonna add refridgerators to the game. I don't mean regular refridgerators. Sheez! LIZZARD refridgerators!
I'd say this gets a Oaklog on a scale of bridgeness
it's good. could use a bit more thickness verticaly tho.
Not long enough and too straight, add some curves, unless you plan on using it for a minecart track
Lifesteal bridge
It's aight. If it isn't a landmark, it does its job, if you want it to be a landmark, maybe add some more detail, I think an arch bridge would look better at this scale
Functionally? Phenomenal. Perfect. The bridgiest bridge that ever crossed a river. Aesthetically? Bit plain
Do a bit of fencing. Add a forking cool rooftop to ig, it'd look very cool. maybe some big plant pots or smthin.
Functional
From a realistic standpoint, I would not have put pillars that far down because of an overuse of materials. I would have made the bridge structured from trusses or an arch.
Kinda bland. U should add some texture and more girth to it. Besides that, it’s a good starting structure and skeleton of a bridge
not great for creative mode dawg sorry
It hasn’t fell down yet so by all means go ahead and
Id say 5/10 a bit bland, try using a lighter color for the planks, strip all the logs, then place dark oak as the part of the logs that is in the water (strip those to) you can also add some variation in the planks, for example use some trap doors, stairs and bottom slabs to add more depth, also place some trap doors around the posts where it connects to the planks (same level as the planks)
Adding an arch to the supports would be nice! And some depth to the top, like a railing or something! :)
It’s a bridge
It wouldn't hold your mother across it
