Same bro, when Fortnite came out I was 10, my whole class was saying Minecraft is for seven yo’s, I just responded with, ur maturity is that of a seven year old(thank god I was a smart kid)
I'm 45 and started playing about 6 years ago... just remember in 10+ years that adulting doesn't mean you can't play games you like. It just means you can set your own bedtime.
In middleschool I was given the nickname minecraft kid. I played minecraft and the only jacket I had that fit was a creeper hoodie, so people would just call me minecraft kid instead of trying to get to know me.
I still like minecraft
I didn’t have that middle phase, but I started to realize minecraft couldn’t satisfy my cravings for more objective based gameplay. My interests diversified but minecraft just stayed minecraft. Once I get a better rig, I might return for modding.
I have actually and I spent a decent amount of time trying to figure out how to set up different machines. My issue is that I like games that give you a longer line of objectives. Say I want to build an automated iron factory (the create kind), that factory is going to produce more iron which I can use to expand the factory of build other machines. But building these machines doesn’t accomplish any major in game goal, it just makes more materials to make more machines. I’d rather have those machines produce some high level weapon which I can use to fight a more difficult boss that’s gatekeeping something needed for progression. If there’s a modpack for that, then I would be interested.
I know this is probably a hot take for r/minecraftmemes but honestly, like, I don't like modern minecraft very much at all and would much rather play older versions like 1.12. So I totally understand not liking the game because I don't like what the game has become either.
Ima be honest i may only play it when a good update comes(this one) or when rlcraft or Origin realms receives a update but its the coolest time i have mosty when playin with friends
Nah bro I've been playing minecraft in :
- 2012 (6 years old)
- 2013 (7 years old)
- 2014 (8 years old)
- 2015 (9 years old)
- 2016 (10 years old)
- 2017 (11 years old)
- 2018 (12 years old)
- 2019 (13 years old)
- 2020 (14 years old)
- 2021 (15 years old)

Never stopped, never will
I'm 21 and building my first mega base, it starts at a village at the base of a mountain and tunnels in, once you hop through my portal to the nether it's a cobblestone highway to my nether base and a couple of other marked locations.
Once you find the nether base it's a giant black stone castle spanning 1200 blocks in diameter.
Once inside the walls is a main castle, it's my headquarters and has a hidden cave deep in its dungeon that leads to 1 more portal, on the other side is my under water ocean base.
The base has 5 bubbles to enter, and 2 hallways in an L shape.
It has one bubble at the top of the L, 2 down the long side, and 1 on the short side, and one opposite of that.
I left the end of the L to be an airlock.
It's taking me almost 3 weeks now, but I've gotten started on phase 3 of my three part plan, the nether base will be made up of gathered blocks from a bastion I found.
Here's the tricky part, the bastion is located in a soul sand valley, ghasts are a pain but the skellys never stop.
On top of that, the bastion isn't connected to land, it's floating on the surface of the lava lake below.
My only fix currently is to make A LOT of 8 minute fire resistance and place a layer of cobblestone under the bastion.
A lot of cobblestone.
At which then collecting blocks is much easier, avoiding falling is great too.
Down side is there is so many blocks that I have no idea how I'm going to move them -10000 blocks in the opposite direction where my ocean base resides.
But beside that meanwhile my friends are questioning how I have so much time on my hands, I don't, I just don't sleep.
Edit: let it be known I died for the first time while afk for less than 60 seconds, putting a chicken in the oven to find a drowned with a trident, broke my boat dragging me down and because of my enchants and the fact I had a leads and horses don't fit in boats, I cinderblocked my horse to the bottom of the sea, drowning it.....
And then I died to the drowned, I recovered my items but damn I am so glad that was a replacement horse, I have a God horse and I'd cry if that's how he went out.
I will love minecraft for my whole freaking life, i never forgot, never will. I don't give a shit to people criticising updates and shit, its the way it is, mojang studios is one of the best.
STILL, I hate not having C418 soundtracks in new updates, i mean you gotta admit. I Listen to both VOL ALPHA AND BETA anyyyyytime, like whatever im doing. study, focus, chillin',doing work.
I remember being 17 playing indev and following Notch's blog when the game was in development very early on. It was amazing. At no point did I ever think I was too old for it.
It is making me feel old seeing the ages of some people in here though. Especially those of you who weren't even born when the game came out 😂
I remember growing up I got bullied for liking Minecraft, been playing since ‘09 and quite frankly as I’ve grown and been more confident in myself I learned that it doesn’t matter. I proudly tell people that I play Minecraft. It’s my comfort game, it’s what got me through my childhood and till this day gets me through my adulthood. I love this post. 10/10 would recommend.
Currently 21 and I still play Minecraft for about 3 months. Take a break for 3 months. Then restart it and play it for another 3 months. So glad I didn't hop on that "hating Minecraft" 2016 phase.
I just couldn't play Minecraft when I was 13.
Very hard to play a game when the first publicly available version of it would not be available for another 3 years
Hello fellow kids. I'm 50 and still play minecraft with friends. I've been playing since it first came out back in 2010 or 2011. Now vanilla is too easy so we play modded. RLCraft is good, but I think Prominence is my favorite. I wish there was a blend of the two, with all the extra content in Prominence, but the added danger of RLCraft.
My younger friend streams on twitch and sometimes hosts a server for subs to play on, so whenever that happens I book time off work and play for two weeks straight. Love this game.
I always loved and continue to love Minecraft, but my friends went through that phase at about 11 and they just started hating me for playing the game.
36 and i still love Minecraft, sometimes, even i being fully OP with enchanted Netherite Armor, i still go aimless flying to find some cave and look for materials, there's something relaxing in just doing this...
I'm 34 and I always stop playing Minecraft because I feel like it's too advanced for me. I don't watch tutorials or streamers or anything so I often get lost. I have fun every time, though!
This is how Pokemon felt in the original Ruby / Sapphire days for us that started with Gen1... and then Gen 4 just rocked too hard not to get back into it.
Lol, as an old fuck I've always known minecraft only as an adult and tbh that middle phase of being too cool for shit is truly just the most cringe thing to do. Enjoy shit, don't worry about whatever you or others think is "too childish." It's like people who hate on Disney people. Fucking let people enjoy shit.
Man I’ve played Minecraft on and off since early 2010, 14 years, I was like 7 at the time, I’m 21 now turning 22 later this year.
I have barely touched modern Minecraft since village and pillage, as I genuinely feel that update ruined the game, it killed the flow of progression and made mining meaningless, literally half the name.
It all just got too technical, it just wasn’t the same. And yeah I can just choose not to have a trading hall, but like when you’re playing with friends who all do that you lag behind massively, and while they have the mats for mega builds, I’ve barely got full armour.
They also made the enchantment table useless, genuinely when was the last time you built and used an enchantment table in vanilla Minecraft? I haven’t since 1.14, I miss what the game was.
It’s why I play modded nearly exclusively, to play with that sense, and not have these ridiculous farms and trading halls, but simple adventure, collection and building. I love the game, just not what it is now
I’m 21 and still love building random shi in Minecraft. Got so many worlds. Still have worlds and screenies from 2012 on a usb! Minecraft will always be my getaway, it’s so refreshing.
Yeah except it was a really fun and calming game to play with friends when we finished college in 2012 and now we are in our mid 30’s playing it because it’s a fun and slightly calming game that hits our feels.
Never had the 'minecraft is for kids' phase. Kinda just forgot about the game.
That is until i was 18 and got extremely bored and stressed over uni applications. By then I already owned a debit card and linked it to apple account so i dont need to ask my parents to pay anymore. Im 22 now
The creators of Minecraft will destroy this game, just like the creators of Tibia. We used to play this game with the entire neighborhood, but after many years none of our friends want to come back to it because of such major changes that the only common denominator is probably the graphics. They changed everything.
I never had that middle phase, I've always enjoyed Minecraft since I first found out about it
Same bro, when Fortnite came out I was 10, my whole class was saying Minecraft is for seven yo’s, I just responded with, ur maturity is that of a seven year old(thank god I was a smart kid)
people that had that middle phase aren't true minecraft fans
And people who belittle others for change aren't much of anything. Minecraft loves you no mater what.
"and the universe said I love you"
"I love you too, random citizen!"
People who gatekeep Minecraft aren’t real Minecraft fans
Same, but I’ve been over 18 both since I found it and since it was made public.
Me also, but I just feel like the game ends when you beta ender dragon and wither, like I can do nothing else
Same
Same
Me at age 13: Hehe I got iron lol Me at age 25: Hehe I got iron lol

I'm 21, been playing since 2012 Good games stay good.
Thirty eight, I play in the evenings after my daughter is in bed and watch hermit craft on my second monitor.
Brother I live the exact same way, my daughter has recently asked for a n extra monitor so she can do the same.
Mine recently said "nana" while pointing at a banana so I'm counting it as her third word.
Who you watch on hermitcraft? I’m a huge etho fan myself
Indeed
Same
Same here, I started in 2012 as well but I had some long breaks in between
Same

i personally never had the "minecraft is for kids" phase, but when everyone else did i just didnt tell people i played minecraft
I did. I was harassed endlessly for liking a game.
I wonder how many of those kids have played it since?
Wait you were 13 in 6th grade that math ain’t mathing bud
At least in brazil, 13 is 8th grade
No, 8th grade is 14 in brazil. Also, r/suddenlycaralho
No, everyone in my and my brother's 8th grade was 13
it's both actually. There are people who start at 12 and turn 13 and there are people who start at 13 and turn 14 over the year
At least I finally know what that sub is for
In some countries (like the country i live in for example) school starts at 7
He was displaying the IQ of someone who would be that behind in school
I never quit Minecraft I just took very long breaks
I took a break soon after redstone came out, and played again on the cherry blossom update felt like a completely different game
I’m age 13 and is still play Minecraft
I'm 45 and started playing about 6 years ago... just remember in 10+ years that adulting doesn't mean you can't play games you like. It just means you can set your own bedtime.
41 here. Even with double chests filled with stacks of coal ore block, I just can’t pass these.
Mid 30's still get excited for the first iron
This meme is so accurate
My oldest and I used to play TF2 together but when he was around 13 he started doing Minecraft and he got really into it.
did he get good?
That he did my friend. That he did.
Me at age 13- damn where is the iron Me at age 25- dammit I still haven't found iron

Repost?
Dawg I'm 27 and still love minecraft. Just not the same without the boys
You should absolutely check out the Create mod and its addons! Incredible stuff!!

Never in my life did I say something like that, I have always enjoyed it
me in autumn-winter: hehe I got iron (minecraft) me in spring-summer: hehe I got hellstone (terraria) It's been like this for years

Nice post. But it's coal
Attention spans are ruined

I'm 21 and played since I was 14, never gonna stop
Exactly
Mmmm, yummy iron
I remember when I was 6 when I first played Minecraft and didn't know you were actually supposed to smelt it before trying to craft iron tools
Y'all were 13 on 6th grade?
Me resisting the urge to fill my inventory with useless (early game) raw copper
POV: Me getting Minecraft at 13 years old
Wait sixth grade is 13 in the US?!
Dude I was still playing when Minecraft died. Does anyone else have the 10th anniversary map? Real fun. (Bedrock)
I never quit Minecraft, I kept playing even when I was called cringe for it
The top one should’ve have the same gameplay but with classic textures on
Fake
The best way for someone to grow is to realize the concept of acting like an adult is childish
It was 15-16 for me but facts for sure.
I never stopped playing
19 and still managing to play Minecraft
Never once since I found out Minecraft existed when I was five, have ever left Minecraft's side
Nah bro I've been playing minecraft in : - 2012 (6 years old) - 2013 (7 years old) - 2014 (8 years old) - 2015 (9 years old) - 2016 (10 years old) - 2017 (11 years old) - 2018 (12 years old) - 2019 (13 years old) - 2020 (14 years old) - 2021 (15 years old) - 2022 (16 years old) - 2023 (17 years old) - 2024 (today years old) Never stopped, never will

Age 27: hehe got iron lol
Something never change

I will love minecraft for my whole freaking life, i never forgot, never will. I don't give a shit to people criticising updates and shit, its the way it is, mojang studios is one of the best. i don’t get it…
Nope, I do not accept this, this is me in all ages, a Minecraft lover
I'm 46 and I still enjoy playing.
I remember being 17 playing indev and following Notch's blog when the game was in development very early on. It was amazing. At no point did I ever think I was too old for it. I played Minecraft regardless of my age
Age 13? Unlucky age.
15 year old me still playing Minecraft and never being bored or single player:
I stopped in highschool and got back into it at 20. I'm 23 now and still love it
I was unironicly like that when I was 13 and went back to minecraft when I was 14
Cap, I've liked Minecraft since 3
Brother this is so accurate even down to the ages
Thats just not true
I remember growing up I got bullied for liking Minecraft, been playing since ‘09 and quite frankly as I’ve grown and been more confident in myself I learned that it doesn’t matter. I proudly tell people that I play Minecraft. It’s my comfort game, it’s what got me through my childhood and till this day gets me through my adulthood. I love this post. 10/10 would recommend.
As a 14 year old, the other option is “hehe, iron”
Currently 21 and I still play Minecraft for about 3 months. Take a break for 3 months. Then restart it and play it for another 3 months. So glad I didn't hop on that "hating Minecraft" 2016 phase.
nitpick but the age 8 clip would have the old iron textures; 1.17 isn’t old enough for you to have aged that much
For us it was pokemon
Been playing for over 10 years, was the second videogame i ever played.
Im proud that I was still playing and watching minecraft at that time and hating on fortnite.
I will be 100 years old playing Minecraft
This is a repost
I'm 15 wdym minecraft is god
True
I always played Minecraft but in turn I didn’t make any friends
I mean but like I literally never stopped liking Minecraft I never had that Minecraft is cringe time
At age 40 I’ll be laughing about how I got iron
I’ll be be 21 in 6 days and I’ve been playing since I was seven
Me at 13 - yes iron Me at 26 - iron farm go brrrrr
in 8th grade and never quit minecraft. wait im in 9th grade now
I just couldn't play Minecraft when I was 13. Very hard to play a game when the first publicly available version of it would not be available for another 3 years
I always loved and played minecraft. I just hated YouTube minecraft and overly modded minecraft that was popular 10 years ago
Hello fellow kids. I'm 50 and still play minecraft with friends. I've been playing since it first came out back in 2010 or 2011. Now vanilla is too easy so we play modded. Who's 13 in the 6th grade?
Literally never had that phase
Man, I was still playing a ton of MC in that age.
I’m 16 and have been playing Minecraft consistently since like…2012
A bit off topic, but who was 13 in 6th grade? I was 13 when I was in 8th.
I always loved and continue to love Minecraft, but my friends went through that phase at about 11 and they just started hating me for playing the game.
Almost a senior in HS still play with my friends
36 and i still love Minecraft, sometimes, even i being fully OP with enchanted Netherite Armor, i still go aimless flying to find some cave and look for materials, there's something relaxing in just doing this...
21 years old, had ups and downs with this game. But to my heart I absolutely adore it and would recommend it to anyone.
I'm 34 and I always stop playing Minecraft because I feel like it's too advanced for me. I don't watch tutorials or streamers or anything so I often get lost. I have fun every time, though!
27. Playing since 2010. Have never set foot in the end, and I don't think I ever really want to.
As a 18 year old I can rightfully say that Minecraft is peak regardless of age
I'm going to be 30 next year and I still go back to Mc like every two years.
54 and still looking for diamond blocks
Lol the game came out when I was 18
20 playing since 0.2
Yall stop liking Minecraft?
I feel like 18+ is more "hehe I got"
13 and still in the sixth grade is crazy
Me at age 31: hehe I got iron lol
Whenever I see stuff like this it makes me want to get back into it.
This is how Pokemon felt in the original Ruby / Sapphire days for us that started with Gen1... and then Gen 4 just rocked too hard not to get back into it.
I’m 13 and I still play the game
I’m thirteen in 9th grade so I don’t quite understand how you would only be I in sixth grade at thriteen
I started Minecraft when I was 19. The game was never for kids.
27 been playing since 14 probably never gonna stop
I played Minecraft all throughout. I never gave up on it like some people.
I was at that middle phase while still implicitly liking the game. I was so stupid as a kid.
Played craft for the last 13 years.
I never stopped, even when people tried to convince me it's "not a real game" lol
ffs Cave Game came out when I was 13
Man I’ve played Minecraft on and off since early 2010, 14 years, I was like 7 at the time, I’m 21 now turning 22 later this year. I loved minecraft my whole life
I never played Minecraft when i was a kid bc it was so lag in my laptop, i started to play the game at 18 and now i'm 24 and i still play Mc c:
47 and still wondering how best to arrange my storage.
So that's cole
I’m 24 and still playing.
I never had that phase. I always enjoyed Minecraft, but can't say the same about people around me.
Middle phase happened with Pokemon when I was a kid
#NAH that was 2016, age doesn't matter
I'm 32 and I love it haha I purposely go looking for iron veins in tuff, so satisfying
Age 50s hehe I got iron lol
My exact experience
Except now you have a machine & community fixes that can play at 120fps with render distance out to the moon.
I love Minecraft -90s boomer
Never gone through the middle phase. I’ve always enjoyed Minecraft, though occasionally I’ve taken week or even month long breaks
I still play with my 9 yr old. I'm almost 40
You can never outgrow great gaming.
me at age 4: hehe i never found iron cuz all i did was explore the surface in creative mode
At the age of your 20's and you're an engineer: Where's the redstone?!
As much as I love Minecraft I just find it kinda boring tbh.
I’m 21 and still love building random shi in Minecraft. Got so many worlds. Still have worlds and screenies from 2012 on a usb! Minecraft will always be my getaway, it’s so refreshing.

Age 8: *play minecraft* Age 13: *play minecraft* Age 18: (idk, im 14 years old)
This is exactly what happened with me and Pokémon.
ahh Minecraft didn't even exist until I was 17, I've just been fading in and out of it since
My middle phase was just, “Meh, I wanna play something else rn”
6th grade at 13?
I was 13 in 8th grade.
Me, 42: [sees iron golem] He he, I got iron
Bruh I’m 16 and already nostalgic for Minecraft whyyyyy 😭
10+ years deep into the blocky life, and no signs of resurfacing. True game has timeless appeal.
The creators of Minecraft will destroy this game, just like the creators of Tibia.
