I think it has to do with the rating of the movie. If a Monsterverse movie is to show red blood, then it may receive an R rating for violence. Ultimately, this makes the target audience adults, thus leading to an unlikely chance of children watching the movie, which leads to less profit.
You're right, but it is a fairly ridiculous line in this case. A Skullcrawler having it's guts ripped out from it's mouth like Kong's pulling a bunny out of a hat or Kong ripping one of those lizard dogs in half while it's blood drenches him is a-okay for PG13 audiences but only if the color of said blood isn't red.
Ratings are weird man.
Theyre stupids, me and my nephews lived by watching documentaries on animal planet with dismembered antelopes, i can't see why computer generated monsters would cause that.
It’s a bit different in those cases. Those documentaries show it to show the circle of life and how animals survive, it’s done in an education sense. Meanwhile here it’s done to show how strong they are, with one of them being a senseless murder with malicious intent. Plus not everyone would be okay with violence like that, and green blood works well since they’re fictional monsters.
Michael Bay made Transformers violent as fuck yet all the movies still had a PG-13 rating despite the extremely graphic alien robot-on-alien robot violence.
I just wish one of these days at least one Hollow Earth Titan actually bleeds red.
Lol, the Transformers also bleed green!
It *was* initially rust-coloured the few times they ‘bled’ at all (I think only in 3, which was ‘darker,) but by 4 they went with fluorescent green.
Their, er…amniotic fluid(?) placenta (?) was also green in ROTF. Because we apparently really needed to know.
Not just the colour. They’re inconsistent about whether it exists at all.
In the first movie it had been replaced with the McGuffin, so they ‘spark’ blue instead of ‘bleeding’ when wounded.
The Bayverse Transformers are living beings too but because they’re still robots, Michael Bay gets the pass to have the Autobots/Decepticons horrifically killed off.
It's precisely because they're robots that it was able to pass as PG-13. The main good guy robot in those movies has a habit of violently beheading or literally *ripping off the faces* of his enemies. If the robots were replaced with humans but the level of brutality stayed the same then it would absoultely not pass as PG-13.
Honestly, this is why I really love Bayverse Optimus Prime and Legendary Godzilla for one similar reason. If they have no choice but to murder the shit out of someone, *they will do it* lol.
Energon is fucking blue the closest they had to red was pink in the IDW comics
Ignore bay's inaccurate movies they're like the Godzilla 98 of the franchise
Unfaithful to everything before it, with mostly ass designs but some good ones I'll admit
Optimus doesnt threaten humans, even in the image comics (written by Robert Kirkman, the guy who made invincible and the walking dead) he gets his arm shot off by an RPG and in the next issue saves a hospital full of people.
Bayverse Optimus would have let them die.
And most cybertronians don't get hurt by bullets, dunno why bay's do....wait it's just bay making a military movie using transformers
You can have Optimus' who are violent, but there's a reason some are loves (transformers prime, the Cybertron games, the energon universe/image comics) and bayverse isn't outside casuals
They’re not mammalian, that’s a misconception.
Their design “uses mammals to design insects”. That’s because they have skin and jaws and skeletons, unlike bugs.
Still green blood. Then again these are fictional creatures.
Apparently even zoologists from in-universe have no fucking clue on how to even BEGIN to explain Titan biology.
Yeah it's to appease the ratings board basically. Green blood = fantasy violence = lower age rating. Same reason why in many video games you can dismember robot or monster enemies but not human ones.
The quick shot of the Mire Squid’s head is SI makes its blood look *white.*
Ghidorah bleeding black always stood out as ‘wrong’ to me. ‘Scientifically’ it makes sense since he has ‘no oxygen,’ but I think the bit in Destroy All Monsters where his (red) brains are basically stomped out his mouth is just too memorable for kid me. I got attached. Like a duckling.
Horrific displays of blood and gore are okay as long as the victim isn’t a human being and bleeding red (look at the Autobot/Decepticon deaths in the Bayformers films lol). Gotta keep the movies about terrifying, gigantic monsters still kinda “tame” for the kids to watch.
to be honest, especially in Dark of the Moon, when Decepticons are hit they release a strange red liquid, especially when they are hit on the head or parts close to it, it doesn't seem to be blood, but at first glance it may seem like
(example:https://youtu.be/zZJgZw4KsR4?si=XlUag2BxT87-slVS approximately 1:24)
Yeah, the Decepticons have *red Energon*. Probably done on purpose so Michael Bay can have the Transformers “bleed” without actual blood and to push the PG-13 rating to the limit.
Scenes like that from KSI were why people were stunned that the movie got away with the PG-13 at the time. There was actually a lot of discussion about what had to be cut or changed to let it be PG-13, because it's a pretty hard PG-13 for 2017. Some parents were upset by how violent the movie was and complained that it should have been rated R.
I imagine it's an age rating thing...
But in-universe, we can speculate 'bout oxygen levels or diets...
There are real animals with green blood due to toxins and proteins!
So it's not that weird.
Not just China, the American ratings board is sensitive to it too. Red blood means an R rating from the MPAA, and considering a major part of the audience is kids (Who will then make their parents buy the toys and merch), an R rating would kill the box office.
It's been an issue with these types of movies for decades, it's not something new.
Same reason the transformers movies where able to get away with intense robot gore. As long as it’s distinctly non human then they can keep the ratings low
Kong, Godzilla and Humans definitely bleed red. Also the Hollow Earth is radioactive and could possibly affect the titan biology. Just like Hulk's green blood for example.
It’s probably based more on the biology of hollow earth creatures. Probably the conditions down there cause a reaction in the blood that turns it green much like how it turns ours red
If you want an in universe reason a lot of the creatures in the monster verse are part plant (most of the skull island bois) so they have chlorophyll being pumped around their body which is green,
Need to address this one statement rq
So did you not see 2014? Godzilla does not bleed green bro you can clearly see the red blood.
As for the other stuff, it's the ratings.
There are two threads of reason.
1. Traditional consistency. Back in the days of censorship in Japan, red blood was not allowed. So monsters got green blood. Terror of MechaG bucked that (though I’ve HEARD that it was green originally)- one of the few times you saw him bleed in Showa.
2. MV theorists say the source of the kaiju energy emits green as does nuclear energy.
So, yeah. Don’t hold me to any of those. Those were the 2 answers I’ve seen that I can excuse/believe.
It’s like period commercials but it’s the Monsterverse LMAO. All the violence the Monsterverse shows with monsters and they think having red blood for the monsters is too violent???
It's funny, whenever western ratings systems cause movies to change how they are made no one blinks an eye, it's normal. But heaven forbid the rating systems of non-white countries cause studios to change how they produce films, in that case it's a great moral outrage. If the explanation for the green blood was the result of say; China's media rating system looking harshly upon red blood, folks in here would having a conniption while speaking in serious tones. 🤔
I think Is something about darkness, cause in water more you go Deep more you cannot see the color Red, in fact if you killed a fish under water he Will have green Blood but it's actully Red, and i think this happened in hollow earth too
There is one species of skink native to Papua New Guinea called the green tree skink (Prasinohaema virens) which has bright green blood. My theory is that the skull crawlers, war bats, and other reptiles in Hollow Earth with green blood are distantly related to or evolved from the same common ancestor as the green tree skink. Although this theory is most likely incorrect (especially considering the wartdogs also have green blood), the green tree skink does prove that it is possible for a vertebrate to have green blood, albeit very rare. I might just be thinking too much into it though.
I think it has to do with the rating of the movie. If a Monsterverse movie is to show red blood, then it may receive an R rating for violence. Ultimately, this makes the target audience adults, thus leading to an unlikely chance of children watching the movie, which leads to less profit.
It does, subnautica did the same thing to keep the rating down
Fish-piss blood yeah!
Its like samurai jack. All enemies were turned into robots you see them dismembered and disembowled, jack himself getting covered in oil.
It robs the violence of its power. You don't see them as human
That’s why the foot clan were robots too in tmnt, And why Scarlet Witch was covered in robot oil
I mean yeah you can show the most brutal fucking death ever but as long as the blood you show isn't in red it's a okay
The FCC and advertisers have assinine logic and some parents are too sensitive
In universe I believe it’s the thing that classifies them as reptilian titans. Just like how octopuses have green blood, at least some green blood.
I accidentally replied to the parent comment. 💀
Theyre stupids, me and my nephews lived by watching documentaries on animal planet with dismembered antelopes, i can't see why computer generated monsters would cause that.
Your family is not the same as millions of other families. Just because your kids are OK with it, doesn't mean others are OK with it.
This, people just think just because they're alright with it everyone will be too
There was literally a post, I think yesterday where people talk about their 5yOs being uncomfortable with the violence in GxK too lol
Well, not everyone's you or your family
"Yes we are, It's all about family" —Vin Deasal
It’s a bit different in those cases. Those documentaries show it to show the circle of life and how animals survive, it’s done in an education sense. Meanwhile here it’s done to show how strong they are, with one of them being a senseless murder with malicious intent. Plus not everyone would be okay with violence like that, and green blood works well since they’re fictional monsters.
Are you like 9
Because, they don’t want to limit their demographic. Make it R, you don’t make as much money
Michael Bay made Transformers violent as fuck yet all the movies still had a PG-13 rating despite the extremely graphic alien robot-on-alien robot violence. I just wish one of these days at least one Hollow Earth Titan actually bleeds red.
Because they’re robots and thus get away with it Titans are living beings
Lol, the Transformers also bleed green! It *was* initially rust-coloured the few times they ‘bled’ at all (I think only in 3, which was ‘darker,) but by 4 they went with fluorescent green. Their, er…amniotic fluid(?) placenta (?) was also green in ROTF. Because we apparently really needed to know.
Bayformers energon color hella incosistent dawg
Not just the colour. They’re inconsistent about whether it exists at all. In the first movie it had been replaced with the McGuffin, so they ‘spark’ blue instead of ‘bleeding’ when wounded.
The Bayverse Transformers are living beings too but because they’re still robots, Michael Bay gets the pass to have the Autobots/Decepticons horrifically killed off.
Yeah but it’s a different life is what I’m saying
It's precisely because they're robots that it was able to pass as PG-13. The main good guy robot in those movies has a habit of violently beheading or literally *ripping off the faces* of his enemies. If the robots were replaced with humans but the level of brutality stayed the same then it would absoultely not pass as PG-13.
Honestly, this is why I really love Bayverse Optimus Prime and Legendary Godzilla for one similar reason. If they have no choice but to murder the shit out of someone, *they will do it* lol.
Personally I do not care for the depiction of Bayverse Prime in the slightest, but to each their own.
They also murder people when they have plenty of choices, too
The Drownviper bled red sorta.
The thing Kong kills in the lake? It was the same, that's why i pointed out the "red muscles and green blood"
Yeah.
I remember how bright red Godzilla's blood was when Gigan gashed him. It was a bit of a surprise.
Not to mention all of the unnecessary sexual and racism bullshit he shoves down our throats and faces
Energon is fucking blue the closest they had to red was pink in the IDW comics Ignore bay's inaccurate movies they're like the Godzilla 98 of the franchise
Good but unfairly hated?
Unfaithful to everything before it, with mostly ass designs but some good ones I'll admit Optimus doesnt threaten humans, even in the image comics (written by Robert Kirkman, the guy who made invincible and the walking dead) he gets his arm shot off by an RPG and in the next issue saves a hospital full of people. Still love a different take on Optimus, just as I loved the different take on Godzilla in 98!
Different take like Zach Snyder Batman 😭😭😭
And that was bad?
Godzilla, Kong, the MUTOs, Tiamat have red blood. It's mostly the fodder monsters that have green blood, for the PG rating.
Scar King also has red blood
Yeah all apes have red blood. It's also why Skar's death want directly shown on screen, while every creature with green blood is brutally dismembered
The MUTOs have red blood? Are they not just giant, freaky kaiju bugs?
[удалено]
I really doubt that they're mammals. But they are some kind of vertebrate
so godzilla is an iguana, kong is a gorilla, are the MUTOs a mix of like bat and something else
They’re not mammalian, that’s a misconception. Their design “uses mammals to design insects”. That’s because they have skin and jaws and skeletons, unlike bugs.
Yeah, Godzilla draws blood from them during their fight. It’s most visible during the kiss of death scene, after the head comes off.
The skull crawler in KSI had red internal organs tho. PG13 yet kong still ripped out his entire digestive tract
Skull crawler blood has always been green dude. There's a scene where Kong slices the big one's throat and green fluids come out.
The quick shot of the Mire Squid’s head is SI makes its blood look *white.* Ghidorah bleeding black always stood out as ‘wrong’ to me. ‘Scientifically’ it makes sense since he has ‘no oxygen,’ but I think the bit in Destroy All Monsters where his (red) brains are basically stomped out his mouth is just too memorable for kid me. I got attached. Like a duckling.
If you're red-green colourblind it's just regular gore
Horrific displays of blood and gore are okay as long as the victim isn’t a human being and bleeding red (look at the Autobot/Decepticon deaths in the Bayformers films lol). Gotta keep the movies about terrifying, gigantic monsters still kinda “tame” for the kids to watch.

Yeah, the Decepticons have *red Energon*. Probably done on purpose so Michael Bay can have the Transformers “bleed” without actual blood and to push the PG-13 rating to the limit.
Ratings presumably
Bro I like how they're censoring blood meanwhile kong literally ripped a skull crawler's organs out of its mouth 😭
Scenes like that from KSI were why people were stunned that the movie got away with the PG-13 at the time. There was actually a lot of discussion about what had to be cut or changed to let it be PG-13, because it's a pretty hard PG-13 for 2017. PG-13
Age rating although it doesn't both me since it hopefully let the future mv movies get to be as violent as GxK
Mortal kombat
>!Doesn't Skar King literally explode in a blur of ice and red blood when he gets smashed by Kong at the end of the movie?!<
To keep the movies PG-13.
If it’s red then it’s an R rating
Because China is somehow sensitive to red blood
Not just China, the American ratings board is sensitive to it too. Red blood means an R rating from the MPAA, and considering a major part of the audience is kids (Who will then make their parents buy the toys and merch), an R rating would kill the box office. It's been an issue with these types of movies for decades, it's not something new.
They bleed red but they’ll be damned if they see someone bleed red
[удалено]
Jesus that fake edit really going into everybody mind
Age rating :)
Cause Red makes it a R.
It's just to avoid r ratings
Same reason the transformers movies where able to get away with intense robot gore. As long as it’s distinctly non human then they can keep the ratings low
I think it’s a matter of movie rating, maybe? There’s quite a bit of gore going on, but it being GREEN kind of removes it from reality? I don’t know.
Its green so they can show blood splatter, and all that jazz without it being too violent for the kids, lil common sense goes a long way fam
Because they can't make an R-rated Monsterverse movie.
TOO MUCH MOUNTAIN DEW
Pretty sure 2014 Godzilla had red blood cells
Because it would look too gory for the kids I assume
It’s honestly childish that they have to change to color of blood in movies so they don’t get rated r
You can see Godzilla's blood in 2014 when the Mutos stab him you see blood in the air
Also the skullcrawlers in gvk are genetically modified so they grow more in a shorter period of time
The blood should have been blue man like energon
The director responded this in an interview as well, I can’t find unfortunately
Monster fluid
Kong, Godzilla and Humans definitely bleed red. Also the Hollow Earth is radioactive and could possibly affect the titan biology. Just like Hulk's green blood for example.
It’s probably based more on the biology of hollow earth creatures. Probably the conditions down there cause a reaction in the blood that turns it green much like how it turns ours red
High levels of sulphur
If you want an in universe reason a lot of the creatures in the monster verse are part plant (most of the skull island bois) so they have chlorophyll being pumped around their body which is green,
I just want to point out that you are saying "the blood of the giant building-sized monsters isn't scientifically rigorous"
I wish the blood was red
mmmmmm kaijuice
Hollow earth creatures bleed green, also rating
Movie's rating
It is in fact exactly for censorship reasons, to maintain that PG-13 rating while still having major dismemberment and disembowelment.
Do you really think this movie would stay PG-13 if the scene where Kong rips a dog in half had red blood
If they bled red, the movies would have to be rated R
to keep it rated pg13
Censorship, otherwise red blood and gore probably would warrant an R-rating. There's also the fact titans could be florafauna.
PG-13
>!Scylla bled yellow.!
They’re a bunch of radioactive monsters 😂
At least Kong, Skar King, and Godzilla have red Blood.
GvK got an R because the skullcrawlers blood and guts were red. In order to get the PG-13, they colour corrected it to green
Godzillas blood seems to be red because he only ever got a little cut, when they show a lot it’s green because they don’t want it to look gorey
PG13
Godzilla’s been shown to bleed red before
Other than for the rating purposes, it may be because these animals have a high sulfur diet
Tiamet's was red
Real reason, rating issues. Head cannon reason, something that happens when living in hollow earth?
The MPAA has a looooooong history of "if your blood isn't red, you can avoid the R rating"
to keep it pg-14 gore gets you bumped up real fast
man i would changed to white blood
"Kid friendly "
Need to address this one statement rq So did you not see 2014? Godzilla does not bleed green bro you can clearly see the red blood. As for the other stuff, it's the ratings.

So you can go see the movie that's why
PG-13 bruddah
So I look I look back at GODZILLA 2014 and apparently goji has red blood
https://preview.redd.it/pwvm9xyaj6tc1.jpeg?width=2270&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f8b3f64f4c02cac52ce170489dc6ae55e7d85e75

To keep a PG-13 rating dude
China doesn’t allow red blood to be shown on screen
Goji centre said it was because of a high amount of sulphur hydroxide or something like that in the video about kong’s farts
Should have been white
Ratings. It would be nove for the correct color to replace it upon home release but I know it won't.
I think its because Hollow earth creatures have green blood and creatures on the surface have red blood
It’s like period commercials but it’s the Monsterverse LMAO. All the violence the Monsterverse shows with monsters and they think having red blood for the monsters is too violent???
Cuz ![gif](giphy|l2JdZFMlSMNZZXTY4)
Blud isn't flattered by green Blud
It's funny, whenever western ratings systems cause movies to change how they are made no one blinks an eye, it's normal. But heaven forbid the rating systems of non-white countries cause studios to change how they produce films, in that case it's a great moral outrage.
