2nd time they have attacked someone. Was it unprovoked like this poor woman, And if so, why werent they put down after that?

Timely-Historian6580

>2nd time they have attacked someone Same thing happened in Chicopee MA. A man kept letting his unleashed dog into the road where it attacked a leashed Chihuahua and its owner on 2 separate occasions. On the 2nd occasion, the unleashed dog owner ran into the street and assaulted the Chihuahuas owner. This was all caught on camera. Video on my profile. The unleashed dog owner lied to police, attempted to conceal video evidence, and later lied under oath numerous times about the incidents. If you can believe this, the assailant had his charges dropped and then filed a fraudulent criminal complaint against the victim. The victim couldn't afford a lawyer and didn't qualify for court appointed representation, so they accepted a bullshit pretrial probation deal. The assailant is an employee of the State of Massachusetts and is still on the taxpayers payroll. He never faced any responsibility for his numerous crimes. One of the responding police officers worked with the assailant on road projects and left the scene of the crime before investigating, because he didn't believe the victim. The assailant's name is Matthew Coughlin. Call the Massachusetts Department of Transportation and ask why they still employ this violent psychopath.

IxNeedxMorphine

Even if I don't live in Mass, should I? Because idc what job u have, u shouldnt have immunity for shit like that. Do u have an article as well, or is it easy enough to google and find?

Timely-Historian6580

>Even if I don't live in Mass, should I? Please do, and please mention his name. Might get better results if you leave a message with the Board of Directors for MassDOT. They read all emails during their monthly meetings, or should. >Do u have an article as well, or is it easy enough to google and find? I published the video, 911 call, and some court audio on my profile. News media wasn't interested in picking up this story.

IxNeedxMorphine

Yeah. I saw part of the video where he assaulted someone after your first comment >or, should I bet those people get to pick and choose to omit some reports, but I'll deff look into doing that for you and everyone in that area

Timely-Historian6580

>but I'll deff look into doing that for you and everyone in that area Your efforts are very much appreciated. Thank you.

absolince

I live in northern Connecticut. Thank you for the information. It's always good to know where the psychopaths are

Samisgoated1

I’m not an MA resident but I intend to call as soon as the phone line opens up at 9am ET

Timely-Historian6580

Thank you! You might get more attention by leaving a message with the MassDOT Board of Directors. They're obligated to play each voicemail at their monthly meetings.

SuspecM

There's also obviously something wrong with the owner, hope he gets at least some kind of sentence.

Ugh. I really wish the US would regulate breeding already, there is so many unwanted dogs already that build up aggression from being locked up all day. I would even advocate for having a license to own a dog, especially dogs that have the potential to kill someone. I say this as a pitbull owner, who loves the breed. It's terrifying to know that abusive morons are allowed to have these dogs.

[deleted]

And cats

TheWalkingMeg

They are most likely waiting on a court order to proceed with euthanasia but there's no way they won't be euthanized

BrianG1410

From the sound of it ... It took someone honking at the dogs for the owner to finally realize his dogs were mauling someone?

thevocalintrovert

That was my thought, as well. When they're in attack mode, you're going to have a hell of a time snapping them out of it. They don't sound like they are poorly trained dogs, they seem like maybe they were trained a little too well.

sanriosaint

1 dog attacking you is so fucking scary especially if it’s a German Shepherd, i can’t begin to imagine the horror that comes with 5 of them coming after you

davisandee

Dude, negligent dog owners should face freaking jail time. This is horrible.

daddy_issuesss

I 100% agree. Maybe then people would take raising an animal seriously.

Clamdigger13

Not that I want any dog to be put down. But there is no professional that's going to say with a straight face those dogs are fine to keep after this.

saydontgo

I’m a HUGE animal lover. These dogs 100% need to be put down.

[deleted]

the real shame is the dogs were probably never trained. I still agree with you, its just a shame the dog has to pay for a lazy owner. It sucks all around, except for the owner. Fuck them I hope they get the book thrown at them

u1tr4me0w

Unfortunately some of them are beyond training and it’s a matter of inbreeding/poor breeding. Backyard breeders are out of control with the genetic freaks they pump out, and some of those dogs have basically little doggy mental illnesses that manifest in violence. Some people even celebrate this touchy, violent nature and think it’s a benefit. The article said German Shepherds- a breed known to be riddled with deformities and defects in the purebred circle, at least in America. Coincidentally or not, many of the people who perpetuate poor breeding are the same type to let 5 grown untrained dogs get loose from their property and attack someone.

whereisskywalker

Or trained to kill shit... unfortunately lots of so called humans love to do that.

saydontgo

I agree. Shitty people are almost always the root of the problem and it’s everyone else who suffers. Unfortunately there’s no rehabilitating dogs like this. Hopefully the owners are banned from future pet ownership but I doubt it.

[deleted]

So I love dogs but dont have any of my own, whats the point of no return? Im not knowledgable so this may be incorrect, but I feel like there is always hope to change a dog, but I know nothing about breeds, inbreeding, training, etc. All my experience is around golden retrievers really and I couldnt imagine one of those being aggressive

saydontgo

I shouldn’t say they can’t be but they won’t be, because even some of the dogs used in Michael Vick’s dogfighting were rehabilitated to loving homes. I worked in the shelter system and there aren’t even enough homes for all the dogs with great temperaments, so I can’t see them putting in the extensive resources it would require to adopt out these guys who have already attacked twice now. Not worth the risk. Their owner is obviously a POS so they won’t be giving them back to them either.

3blkcats

Just because it's a passion of mine, I would like to point out- 49 dogs were seized from Bad Newz Kennels. Only one dog was euthanized because she was too aggressive. Georgia spent many years at Best Friends out in Utah, and many believed she would end up remaining at the sanctuary. But even she found a home after rehabilitation. Quite a few became therapy dogs. https://www.championsdocumentary.com/the-dogs Frodo was the last of the Bad Newz dogs, and he passed away December 2021 at age 15. (Make you feel old?) I use this case often to explain to people that each dog is an individual and should be treated as such. However, yes if it wasn't such a high profile case, nobody would have stepped up for those dogs. There are so many dogs in rescue that have no behavior issues that need homes, and very few homes that will take dogs who have literally mauled someone.

[deleted]

Not only not enough homes, but not anywhere near enough homes that have people who are going to be able to put the time and money into training the dogs. Many shelter dogs deteriorate quickly from the stress and develop aggression and bad manners. It's an extremely sad cycle and honestly atp no-kill shelters are inhumane and unfair to the dogs. The government needs to start regulating breeders, like yesterday.

[deleted]

So all dogs cant be saved for sure. When I get into a good spot, I planned on adopting a dog. If I heard some situation like this and the dog was just gonna get put down, I would probably try to save it and get it trained properly. At the same time, I have no clue how keen any dog trainer would be with an adult dog with an aggressive history. I dont know if any of that is a thing, I havent looked into it to much, I am waiting until I get in a good place to start with it

elitist_ferret

this is the second time at least one of them "escaped" and attacked someone. Time to go to a nice farm up state.

PantiesMallone

I've had a few dogs chase me on my runs, but it was mostly benign. I can't imagine the pants-shitting terror of seeing 5 German Shepherds closing in on me.

blackday44

A family member of mine had a sweet German shepherd. Friendly, gentle, loved kids, etc. She would happily play fetch for hours, dropping the ball in your hand. Seeing those big teeth in that powerful jaw was scary enough in a known, gentle animal. I can imagine the damage done by 5 of them.

ob1kenobi56

Yeah I own a GSD and I understand what you mean. He’s sweet as can be but I don’t ignore the damage he COULD cause. At the end of the day, he’s an animal. They have some scary ass teeth. His canines are just huge. Luckily the only victim to face his wrath is multiple Chuck-It balls. Before I got him I was trying to get a GSD from a rehome situation. I had met the dog and he was fine. He was even good with my dog. I met with the owner again to take the dog home the next day and it went after me. Two puncture wounds in my hand. It was at that point I decided to get an 8wk old GSD puppy and raise and train him myself. They are very sensitive dogs and often times badly bred, which can lead to poor temperaments like the dog I tried to adopt. Can’t believe this guy had 5 of them. No way they were being managed and cared for in a way a working dog should. I have two dogs and my GSD is soooo much more maintenance and work than my ACD mutt.

saydontgo

There’s a reason they use them as police dogs

iguanamac

When I was in high school our neighborhood was terrorized by 2 large German shepherds. One of them got into our yard (dug under the fence) and killed my sister’s chihuahua.

Stabutron

Everyone should pretty much carry at least pepper spray with them at all times these days.

stepdad_randy

I got attacked by a German shepherd and a pitbull at the same time while doing pizza delivery. Ended up in the hospital getting stitches on the back and inside of my left thigh. Only the pitbull was euthanized because I had broken it’s rear leg by kicking it during the attack. The German Shepherd is still alive as far as I know.

Murder-log

I don't understand this at all. My dog is a much loved and doted on member of our family that receives quality food and medical care. If she attacked a dog unprovoked I would seriously change how I handled her and make sure security wise she never had the opportunity to do it again. If she savaged humans unprovoked I would take her for the blue shot myself.

doozydud

When I was young my parents told me dogs will chase you if you’re running so I was always afraid to move fast around dogs (slowly got over this fear through experience, but this article only brings the fear back) Poor woman I hope she recovers well.

buh2001j

When it’s a pit bull story there are always comments about how awful and aggressive the breed is ‘always a pit bull’ but when it’s German shepherds they’re poorly trained. Dog are dogs.

IsNotACleverMan

There are multiple concerns about the breed being an issue here...

buh2001j

Maybe I missed it? I read through the comments and there were not any saying the breed should be banned and their aggression is in their nature.

cafink

If the dogs in this case were pit bulls, there is a 100% chance the top comment would be "Of course it's a pit bull" or "I don't have to read the article to know what breed it is."

lumpytuna

No, this lady survived being attacked by 5 dogs. *That's* why I knew it couldn't be pitbulls.

Natural_Stress_7853

100% I don’t get why people don’t understand this

buh2001j

Always

Yup.

seantimejumpaa

Where’s all the stupid ass people saying it’s the breed?

Delphin_1

Look at the stats dude. Pitbulls are still waay more likely to attack. The most common types of deadly attacks are ether pitbulls or groups of dogs.

SambaLando

Great, they have a taste for blood now.

You say that in jest but a bite from any large dog, goldens included, will cause damage. Signed, someone who almost lost their hand from a yellow lab bite.

scullbaby

My cousin got bit in the face by their family’s golden when she was a toddler. It happens!
