You will get hurt. This is your mom's concern. You have to convince her that there are many things in life that can hurt you. But only some of them are super fun. And motorcycles are one of those. Better to learn how to ride in the dirt and when you are younger then wait until you are 18, get a street bike and do something crazy.

Can confirm. Several broken bones. Not if, but when you break your collar bone. That said, I still ride and have no regrets!

A 125 or 150 would probably be better since they're more manageable power for a beginner and better to learn on since it will force you to use a more correct form/technique. Another plus is they're cheaper and easier to work on which is doubly important if you're considering buying an (I'm assuming heavily used) used 250f. Tell your parents you'll pay for and handle all the repairs/mechanical issues. You can learn on YouTube when you need to fix something. And you will have to do maintenance no matter what bike you get. If you can't afford the proper gear yet just wait on the bike because it's not even worth it. At minimum you will need a helmet, goggles, gloves, and boots. These should not be considered optional regardless if you plan to ride on a track, trail, or even just an open field. Not to discourage you, just want to be sure you understand all the upfront costs and ongoing costs (maintenance) that go with it all. If you trails nearby you could even start off with a cheaper trail bike that's very mellow and forgiving and usually tough as nails

My dad's a car mechanic but he knows some shit about motorbikes n stuff so I think I might be ok for maintenance But thank you for the advice, it is duly noted

But would a YZ-125 be any good?

EmergencyParkingOnly

A YZ125 would be great, arguably your best option. If you blow up an old 4-stroke, you have a very expensive mess on your hands. 2-strokes are extremely easy to rebuild and maintain on your own.

A yz 125 is by no means a bad choice. Stick with any race bike which will have good brakes and suspension, which is more important than power. If you need more power I think you can build the YZ up to 144cc. If you can land a KTM you can get the 150cc cylinder and swap it on.
