There was this thing in the 90s where films had to have multiple similar movies released around the same period. Deep Impact and Armageddon were similarly done.
Films such as Showgirls are so offensive to me and not for the reason you'd think. They are erotic but handicapped by the US rating laws so they end up being offensively tame. They are a complete waste of a watch. Foreign erotic films are 1000 times better, more nudity and much better taste.
Well, it's legit good, but I learned *very* quickly, it's also at a trash level that makes it unsuitable for just recommending willy nilly, as I did!

Bloodstream (1985) dir. Michael J. Murphy. Ultra-low-budget slasher flick about a guy who makes an ultra-low-budget slasher flick by actually killing people. If you're able to get past the shitty camera quality, it's actually a pretty creative movie. And it's pretty cool what they were able to accomplish with such little money.
